Alien 2: On Earth (1980)
The naming of Alien 2: On Earth (or Sulla Terra in Italian) is obvious from a marketing point of view. A brazen attempt to pull in viewers to see this excessively cheap, subterranean rubbish. #alien #movies #filmtwitter #alien2

hi! may i request headcanons for polnareff, hol horse, caesar, mista and gyro reacting to their s/o flirting with them while they're both fighting against some random enemy please?
This is kind of all over the place but I was kind of struggling with this prompt, even though it's super cute and can definitely make for some fantastic headcanons. Anyway, sorry this took a while.
Also the French in Jean's part has summaries in English in parenthesis. Sorry, I can't help myself when I write about my French husband.
Jean Pierre Polnareff
Bless his heart he really does try to stay calm when you start your usual antics during a fight with a user you two encountered alone
But it is very hard to focus on the task at hand with your constant teasing
“Tu viens souvent ici, mon amour?” (come here often?)
“Mon ange, je t’aime, mais ce n’est pas le temps!” (i love you but now is not the time)
You laughed
(there's always time to make you flustered)
Your current enemy didn’t seem to enjoy your little back and forth, planting a punch on your stomach that knocked the wind out of you and sent you flying
Polnareff panicked, shouting your name as he countered the attacks of your foe
“Je vais bien!” you called, wiping the blood now dribbling from your lip (i'm good)
Did you have a slight issue of getting off track and constantly flirting with your husband when you should be paying attention to the battle at hand?
Yes
But you couldn’t help yourself
You loved him dearly and always wanted him to know that he was on your mind
Because what if one day
That’s the last thing he hears?
Hol Horse
Hol Horse is usually to focused in on the moment to do anything else but fight, but he can’t help himself during the end of one battle
His hat had flown off of him, and you managed to snag it, placing it on your head for the rest of the fight
By the time everything was over, you were still wearing it, checking over your husband for any injuries
“Are you good, hon? You got hit pretty hard,” you asked worriedly
“Oh I’m fine, sweetheart. I can’t help but notice yer wearin’ my hat.”
“Oh yeah”
You took it off, placing it on his head
“I just didn’t want it to get destroyed during the battle, I didn’t have time to give it back to you”
“Oh I’m not mad, darlin’. I just hope you know what this means for tonight.”
You placed a peck on his cheek
“Sweetie, you’ve used the same tactic more times than I can count. I know what it means.”
Caesar Zeppeli
When you and Ceasar start to whisper sweet nothings to each other, it’s not a problem for anybody else
Except Joseph
Because he just has to butt in to every conversation Caesar has
“Can you two get a room! I’m trying to save the world here while you’re off smacking each other’s asses!”
You roll your eyes
“That was one time—”
The feeling of a slap on your ass makes you hit Caesar in the arm
“Two times. But still, talk during battle is only a sign of weakness if you’re too dumb to do two things at once!”
“(Y/N)! Are you calling me dumb?”
“If the shoe fits, JoJo!”
“Caesar, butt out of this!”
Somehow, the only people you end up fighting at the end of the day are each other.
No surprise there
Guido Mista
Please do not ever flirt with Mista during a fight
He has a one track mind
I repeat
Do not
He will end up shooting himself
Somehow
All the time
Every time
Please save the dirty-talk for afterwards
God bless him
Gyro Zeppeli
(I have completely forgotten his character imma be completely honest so if this is ooc i apologize it’s been a while since i’ve read part 7)
There is really only one thing on his mind the entirety of the race
Winning
And while he would do anything for you
He will get pretty heated if something you say distracts him enough to put him at a disadvantage
He loves hearing your voice at night, and would do anything to keep you in his arms forever
But he’s also pretty hard-headed about his priorities at the moment
And during most of the day, that’s not you
While that can seem rude, he can only imagine how happy the two of you will be if he wins and gets everything that comes with it.

Maria Callas photographed by Cecil Beaton in 1957
Callas (2024) Callas is a film directed by Niki Caro with Noomi Rapace. Synopsis: A biopic about the operatic star, Maria Callas.
Noomi Rapace Star As Maria Callas announced at the Cannes Film Festival, Noomi Rapace is currently training her vocal cords in preparation for a starring role as Maria Callas.
The biopic is centered on the passionate relationship the singer had with Greek tycoon Aristotle Onassis lasting almost two decades. Caro will direct “Callas” from a screenplay she adapted from Alfonso Signorini’s biography “Too Proud, Too Fragile.”
Callas was a profoundly influential American opera singer of Greek heritage. She died in 1977 at the age of 53.
“This movie is about an extraordinary woman whose deepest desire is to lead an ordinary life with the man of her choice,” said Guido De Angelis. “Callas was la Divina, a goddess, who just wanted to be a normal woman; she found out she couldn’t. It sounds like an ancient myth.”
Rapace’s credits include “The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo,” “Prometheus,” “Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows” and “The Drop.” Caro directed “McFarland USA,” “North Country” and “Whale Rider.”
---------------
Maria Callas sings Puccini: Tosca - 'Vissi d'Arte' at Covent Garden 1964
Maria Callas' final appearance on the operatic stage was in Tosca at Covent Garden's 1965 Royal Gala. For many opera lovers, Maria Callas and Tosca's Vissi d'Arte are inseparable. "I lived for art; I lived for love" became La Divina's cri de coeur, her swansong, the perfect expression of her own triumphs and tragedies. This unrivaled recording is from that legendary Zeffirelli production in 1964 and is one of just many jewels in the Maria Callas Live edition.
youtube
Con man furtiva quante miserie conobbi aiutai. Nell'ora del dolor perché, perché, Signor, ah, perché me ne rimuneri così?

Movie Review | The Big Racket (Castellari, 1976)
Tumblr media
I’m no expert on poliziotteschi, but from the handful I’ve seen, it strikes me that they have no shortage of queasy morality and gleeful cruelty. My favourites would be The Italian Connection, in which a sleazy, two-bit pimp played by Mario Adorf (doing his own stunts and looking like he might die of a heart attack in the process) ends up being our hero, and The Tough Ones AKA Rome, Armed to the Teeth, which plays as an almost free-associative series of cop vs crook violence, Maurizio Merli and Tomas Milian trying to outdo each other in sadism as the movie escalates. This one, the second in the genre directed by Enzo G. Castellari that I’ve seen (after The Heroin Busters, with which this shares some terrific action direction), has its share of cruelty as well, largely meted out by a group of truly loathsome villains. We first meet them during the opening sequence, where they’re geared up in fearsome helmets as they mete out some pretty excessive property damage. The aesthetic choices here, between their wardrobe, the eerie red and yellow lighting, the slow motion and the blaring prog rock freakout on the soundtrack courtesy of Guido and Maurizio De Angelis (whose work here sometimes resembles a wilder and woollier version of “In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida”), suggest that this a newer, more vicious breed of criminal, totally beyond the pale of ordinary criminality.
And certainly, they make good on that promise, graduating pretty quickly from property damage to actual violence, sexual assault, murder and the works. A lot of this is relished by Castellari, starting with a great shot where the hero is trapped in a car that’s rolled over by the villains, the camera’s view spinning along with the body of the car as the hero gets roughed up inside. One scene of sexual violence is particularly ugly, but another earlier in the movie is handled with a bit of tact, conveyed with a somewhat touching and elegant shot of the camera refocusing to suggest the span from the victim’s rape to the discovery of her corpse by her father.
Now, with criminals this vicious, you’re gonna need a hero willing to go the limit, and we get that with Fabio Testi, towering over many of the other cast members as if his height correlates to his moral certitude. You’re not gonna get a nuanced view of police accountability in this genre, but to the movie’s credit, Testi is shown to be compassionate towards the victims and even tries to work with a relatively harmless criminal played by Vincent Gardenia to bust the criminals through less forceful means. At one point the villains disguise themselves as Marxists to stir up trouble, which probably betrays the movie’s politics, but it does try to mitigate this, with Testi insisting that these criminals have nothing to do with real leftist politics. And another scene where they incite mob violence against Gardenia’s son arguably positions their criminality as a social problem. So I didn’t find this as noxious as it could have been.
But ultimately, Testi has to go beyond the law and recruit a team, most of whom have been impacted by the villains personally, to take them out once and for all. And the gunplay here, both in a vicious train station shootout and the shooting gallery warehouse climax, is thunderous in its impact. The echoing of the rifle shots, the sometimes bruising editing, the sheer loudness of the gunfire (the violence feels as much sonic as physical), the liberal use of squibs combine to give every shot fired an entire movie’s worth of rage.
