UPDATE March 2023: These will no longer be supported/updated to reshade. If you download it for reshade, things WILL look different
   __________
“Neapolitan” Gshade preset collection comes with 3 different presets, depending on what you want the vibe to be!  (Click on the pics to enlarge the previews of them, I really strugglebus with formatting on tumblr, so bear with me! The pics are unfortunately not as sharp as they actually are, trust me, the presets look better in game) I named it Neapolitan because it reminded me of the trio of ice cream flavours I ate as a kid all the time. It also suits the vibe of each one, so that helps!
“Strawberry” Is the preset I use currently for my own gameplay. It is vibrant and pops the colours just enough so it doesn’t burn your eyes out, but retains a bright and cheerful vibe.
“Vanilla” Lives up to its name by being just the right amount of different from the original EA vibes but slightly brighter and adds a pop of more vibrancy and smoothness.
“Chocolate” has a moody, almost autumnal vibe. It leans more warm, mysterious and I’m surprised by how much I like it in-game; since I tend to go brighter and vibrant. I should’ve taken screenshots of it in a forested area, but this already took my whole afternoon so, the previews are what they are lol
I am VERY picky about Gshade presets, and so I made sure that the things that bother me the most I fixed when I made these presets. They are as follows:
1) Not heavily blue-green, like EA’s ugly lighting
2) Neutralizes the overly yellow tones in EA’s whites
3) Doesn’t make sims look basketball orange
4) Doesn’t make sims of colour (especially black sims!) look washed out
5) Are gameplay-friendly, and don’t bleach out the UI in game so it’s unreadable
6) Are the vibe
ONE MORE IMPORTANT THING before the download: If you go into your game and you’re like “???? why is this preset making my game a little slow?” PLEASE go and click on your MXAO settings and turn the quality down. My computer by some miracle can handle it on ultra, but it can make your computer slow if it can’t handle it. It is easily fixable by turning it to Medium or lower depending on what your computer can run.
Also, I used ADOF for the screenshots, which is a depth of field shader, I turned it off, so if you want it on in your game, just type it in the search bar and turn it on :)
TOU: Do whatever, just make sure you link back here and don’t claim as your own. You can edit them to your preference, but please don’t re-upload them without giving credit to the original.
Okay, I’ll shut up now, have fun!

The Bachelorettes (a collab)
I am looking for 4 sims to use in a mini spin-off of Moonlight! It is a dating reality tv show and the first season focuses on 21+ queer sims dating each other.
The premise: 6 queer sims live in a house for three weeks and couple up! The couple that makes it to the end of show wins a cash prize and all-expenses paid couples vacation! Hosted by Diego Lobo and produced by his boyfriend Leo.
deadline: march 12th! tag me if you make a post for it!! i will be tagging posts with 'tbc'!
info i need & how to give me the download under the cut. <3
YOUR SIM'S INFO:
Their name, pronouns, age, and sexual and romantic preferences required. Anything else you can add is extra.
Their preferred role in the show. Examples are HBIC, fan favorite, villain, plant, etc.
Their backstory (why they would be on the show! This helps me decide when/if they would leave the show.)
What they’re looking for in (a) partner(s).
Whether or not your sim smokes/drinks/parties/have sex
Interest in dating occult sims (werewolves/vampires)
CUSTOM CONTENT:
Custom content is allowed! Limit to Everyday (2 outfits), party (2 outfits), and swim suit (2), sleepwear (1), formal (1)! Leave hot/cold and athletic outfits bgc/naked because they won’t be seen. You can mix and match the number of outfits per category as long as it’s a total of 8. Must include the cc in the zip file when you send over the tray files. If you’re going vanilla, these are all the packs I own: city living, discover university, seasons, cats & dogs, high school years, outdoor retreat, vampires, werewolves, cottage living, jungle adventure, dine out, nifty knitting, tiny living, romantic garden, my first pet, spooky stuff, cool kitchen, and luxury party. Yomigami Okami
One that I recently rediscovered is Yomigammy's Yomigami Okami, ported to vanilla ReShade 5.6 by meynan_ffxiv. A very flexible, lightweight collection of 14 presets, and the aspect I like the most is how it handles wood tones in general, lovely enhancing warmth without oversaturating.

Thanks @strangetowntales and @w-sims for recreating the Strangetown Spa.
Poses by @solstice-sims, some of the cutest trio poses I've ver seen.
"Vanilla" Gshade preset by @midsummermoon20. I love how it looks in my game, not just in screenshots.
I like to include credits because I think it's right, so I always try to do that, but if as a creator anyone finds the tag annoying just message me.

MOVING BACK TO RESHADE from GShade 2023
-Don't uninstall GShade yet!
Uninstalling GShade removes the gshade-shaders folder which contains all the content. It does not remove GShade's executable file. This guide will help you do that.
You can uninstall it right before installing ReShade. Uninstalling it after will break ReShade!
If you have already uninstalled check step 2 for a back up link.
1.Identify your game folder, and open it in Windows Explorer.
This is where you installed The Sims 4. It contains TS4.exe. (C:\Program Files\EA Games\The Sims 4\Game\Bin)
2.Back up the C:\Program Files\GShade\gshade-shaders and game\gshade-presets folder.
This contains GShade's shaders and presets, obviously. If you have lost it, download a backup of the full shader and preset package here. You just need the “shaders” folder from there and you can ditch the base presets - you will use your favorites.
3.Delete d3d9.dll in the game folder. (If there's a file called d3d11.dll there, delete that too.)
DO NOT DELETE THIS FILE IF IT'S IN THE C:\Windows FOLDER! IF YOU ONLY HAVE A dxgi.dll OR d3d11.dll FILE THERE, SKIP THIS STEP! YOU MUST BE IN THE game FOLDER! DELETING THE WRONG FILE WILL CAUSE WINDOWS TO STOP WORKING!
This is GShade's executable file. The uninstaller does not delete this file, which is mildly suspicious, as it will continue to load into your game after uninstallation.
You can uninstall GShade at this point, if you have backed up its folders.
4.Install ReShade to “TS4.exe”.
Use this file - It’s an add on version 5.6.0 that seems to work perfectly. It's the exact same file as the one you would download from ReShade.
You must install the version with full add-on support. The regular build of ReShade might not work with The Sims 4.
Tick DirectX 9 while installing.
Do not tick the options to install the shader packs from vanilla ReShade during the install process. Only make sure to install the ReShade default shaders.
It will pop up a scary-looking message box warning of bans when you first launch. Just ignore it; ReShade can get you banned just as much as GShade can, aka it can't.
5.Replace the contents of the reshade-shaders folder with gshade-shaders's contents.
If you don't have a reshade-shaders for some reason, copy and paste gshade-shaders and rename it to reshade-shaders.
6.Copy and rename the gshade-presets folder to reshade-presets in the game folder.
This is to make presets work again. Despite what GShade team might have told you, you don't need GShade for presets.
7.Download this ZIP file, extract it, and move all of those .fx/.fxh files into your reshade-shaders\Shaders folder.
Remember to overwrite files if it asks!
This will fix compatibility issues, add new tools and make some shaders compile succesfully.
-You're done. Launch the game.
TIP: If youre preset looks oddly grey or dark do this to fix it.  It’s a fix for quint_MXAO that is needed for my presets (milky pastels & pink sugar)
Just set all three to 0 and hit ENTER.
It will load for a little longer but should be all good afer that!

hi ! trying to get into lookbooks for sims - how do you get the background / do the lookbook for yours ? do you pose them in cas and change the background beforehand ? edit it afterwards ? or get screenshot photos of them posing in game ?? and if so do you use a background / use the photography pack ??
Hey! I use @berryconfetti's Lovelace CAS background as my default, and if I want to change it I use @sonyasimscc's Recolorable CAS Background. It's an accessory (found in nose ring, brow ring, and necklace categories) that will change the background color in real-time. Super helpful!
To use a custom CAS background replacement: Just download a background you like (you can only use one at a time) and place the package file directly into your Mods folder.
** I think most custom backgrounds automatically remove the blob/spotlight/shadow thing from around the feet of your Sim, but if one doesn't, you can use a blob/shadow remover. (Direct Mediafire download link here, because I don't love that the original website hosts AdFly links...)
For lookbooks I exclusively use CAS poses. @ts4-poses is a good place to start, and @helgatisha is my #1 favorite pose creator.
I do some light editing for screenshots--adjusting sharpness and contrast, etc.--but GShade does most of the heavy lifting for me. This picture wasn't edited, for example; it's just a CAS pose + recolorable background + GShade. (Vanilla preset.)
Hope some of that helped!

Do you have any tips and tricks for someone (me) starting a sims story to post on Tumblr? Asking for a friend (it's me. I'm the friend)
omggg you're askin me? 🥺
Tumblr media
I'm not sure I'm the best simblr to ask because I'm not in it for the trends or popularity; I'm all about the interaction and finding others to talk to at length about my delusional fictional universe that's been going on for over a decade now lol. But let me try:
*puts on my mother glasses* There are two ways to go about it; depending on your goals. There are plenty of exceptions, but simblr sorta has a formula you can follow. Get ready for some contradictions haha
if you aim to appease the simblr community:
reshade/gshade mixed with photo-editing is generally a must. Simblr users will gravitate to pretty pictures, so even if you're an excellent writer, people usually won't give it a second look unless something attracts them to it. The sims is pretty ugly without filters and such, and it will enhance the experience as well. Bonus if you crank up the mxao and depth of field but I prefer to take it a little easy on those lol
CC. Not necessarily a must, but simblr in particular usually hates vanilla sims. same explanation as above, slather those suckers in skin details!!
poses poses poses. readers love reading stories with poses and they spit on screenshots with only game animations! (tbh those game animations do get pretty repetitive after a while so I kinda get it)
Read stories. I'm not much of a reader personally, but there's a huge imbalance in the reader-writer ratio on simblr, and lots of simblrs will return the favor if you read theirs too. Be careful, though; getting stuck in a transactional mutualship can lead to tricky dynamics. Only reach out to other stories if you're genuinely interested in following more stories, not just to gain readers.
BUT, with all that being said, as an "elder" of the simblr community, please consider this as permission to say screw any and all of those above tips if they don't align with your goals.
If your goal is to just have fun and relax:
reshade/gshade. Because let's be real the game's graphics are very depressing. It's not actually a must if you're just enjoying yourself, but if you find the right settings and just play, so you can spend minimal or even no time editing your photos. There are lots of tutorials that explain how to set it up. If you can't figure it out or don't feel like it, that's also not a big deal.
I can be a controlling sim god when it comes to my stories, and I have most things planned out. HOWEVER sometimes it's a little fun to let the sims drive their own storylines. If something is just not working, I consider that a sign to let the story flow in a slightly different direction. IF you're planning on writing gameplay stories/writing as you go, as I do. (which has its own challenges lol)
Sometimes it can be tempting to let readers sway the way the story is going. Sometimes that is a strategy that works. But if you have a storyline that you're confident in, own it and let it play out. Even if the whole community (and your spouse) wants that alien character to go die, you have him there for a reason, trust in the power of your storytelling 😜
Despite being a pose creator, I find using poses kinda tedious and sucks the life and immersion out of the story and gameplay personally, if used too much. Trust me, I do use my fair share of them, but I do try to use the game animations whenever possible. When I do use poses, I personally prefer to keep the expressions very maxis-y.
Don't try to be like any one particular simblr. With a community where we all pull from the same CC and game pack pools, there's bound to be overlap in aesthetics, storylines, and concepts. Definitely find inspiration in all your faves but do what works best for you but don't feel some sort of way if your screenshots don't look exactly like PastelPlumbobPixelLlama's game, despite you downloading all the content and presets from their resource page! You have your own style babe and it's way more unique ♥
Post a "New Story/New simblr" post to get the word out about your story.
PLEASE don't ever get discouraged by notes because you are perfect and creative and if others don't understand your genius that's them problem ok <3
sorry it's so long ;-; there's probably more but that's what came to my mind off the bat.

terribly sorry to bother, but I've been loving your screenshots since I stumbled on your blog, and like 100% genuinely: how do you get them to look like that? Is it all done in game or is it some combo of mods & shaders? Cause every time I see a cool pose I'm just left wondering how you did it. Obviously I wouldn't ask you to make a massive tutorial just for me, but if there are any resources or general things you'd be willing to share, I'd be eternally grateful!
Hi there! Thank you for enjoying my gposes, and you're not a bother; my ask box is open to get asks after all haha
To answer your question: My gposes are not a product of the vanilla game alone. I'm slapping my explanations under a read more since it's a bit long:
Firstly, I am running reshade, an open source post-processing injector. It's a program that can (in the simplest terms) run various visual filters over a video game in real time. Most everyone I know made the jump from Gshade to reshade last year, so if you look up "reshade for ffxiv" you should be able to find a handful of tutorials. When it comes to finding presets, there are a lot of independent shader devs for ffxiv and generally a quick google search should bring you to a few. Most of the presets I use are outdated holdovers from the GShade days, and I don't know if they are available anymore; so unfortunately I can't recommend any directly, sorry!
In general, I lean towards shaders that enhance the overall brightness and vibrancy of the (imo muddy looking) default graphics. Arsay can quickly get over exposed by the in game 3 point lighting, so putting a shader that boosts the brightness overall really helps preventing that. I set up my lights in gpose at 2, put the character lighting to 100, pick a shader with a LUT that gives me the colours and brightness I want and thats usually enough. sometimes I'll hit the manual brightness in game and mess with that too. I often go into the preset of the shader and muck about with the Depth of field settings depending on what I want. An important note regarding the use of reshade: While reshade does not directly effect in game files or gameplay and it's technically not against TOS (as far as I have read), it is still highly encouraged that screenshots taken with shaders on do not have the ffxiv screenshot watermark visible. Reshade has it's own screenshot button that you can map to any key of your liking that will capture the game and the applied shaders without any watermarks. If you have an nvidia graphics card, I believe you should also have access to the geforce post-process correction tools, and could use that as well to enhance the game visuals. However, I am under the impression it's solely corrective settings (brightness/contrast, vibrancy, saturation, etc.) and you do not have the ability to adjust the depth of field setting, apply LUTs, mess with ambient occlusion, etc. Aka the more in depth rendering stuff that would make your graphic card fan go brrr. I've personally never tried the nvidia filter system so maybe that's incorrect information. Best to do independent research on that!
As well, on the occasion I will bring some screenshots into photoshop and do further, fine tuned, tonal corrections there. Generally this is only when I'm trying to achieve a look that I can't get in game and I try to keep it to a minimum. When I'm working on big photosets or comics, I'll end up doing more corrections just to make sure colours/tones/shading are consistent through out.
On to the second part of the question: the posing. I do all my posing with this tool. It is a tos crime, however it's client-side only and completely undetectable to other players. It gives you full access to character rigs and allows you to not only build your own poses, but export and import poses, outfits, props used by npcs or seen in cut scenes, and character data as well. Tons of people will upload pose files on the various mod archives for others to use, so even people who don't want to mess around with rigs can have fun with their characters. I personally love posing, and it's something I'm very comfortable doing since I have a background in 3D modelling and animation. I do believe in working smarter and not harder though, so what I tend to do is apply an in game animation cycle to my character in question that has a frame or key pose close enough to what I need, pause the animation, turn on posing, and start rotating bones. I never really looked up any tutorials myself tbh, I kinda just messed around with things and figured the tool out as I went along. That said, there are tutorials on youtube if you search for them. "Anamnesis ffxiv guide" or something along those lines should bring up good results.
Anam also gives you further camera control than what is available in game, allowing you to fine tune its position to the .001 degree. You can increase the FOV and zoom range past the typical amount. Bring your character and camera pretty much anywhere on the map too. And you can export your camera setting to use between gpose settings! It's a really great tool, though it has some quirks and can in specific instances crash your game (never change a character while fishing lol)
That's pretty much it! I know this wasn't really much of a guide, so sorry about that. Most of my gposes are a product of seeing a fuzzy image/concept in my head and messing around with various compositions, locations, lighting conditions, ect. until I bring that idea into clarity. It's hard to explain that process in ways beyond "fucking around and finding out (positive)" I suppose to anyone else reading this has specific references in mind, please pass them along to sailor-artemis ! I know being told "just google it lol" isn't super helpful but I really just tend to figure things out on my own ^^;

Sims Tag
I was tagged by @gorgosim, @citruswhim, @aliengirl, @cactusblossom and @introvertedfox!! Thank you so much, friends! 💜
1. What’s your favourite sims death?
- Tbh I haven’t seen a lot of different ones in my game, I’d like to see the one by meteorite and by bunny or chicken. I don’t know if a chicken can kill, but I heard about the bunnies.
2. Alpha CC or Maxis Match?
- Maxis Match. I’ve never tried Alpha hairs, but I used some alpha closes before.
3. Do you cheat when your sims gain weight?
- No. I try not to use cheats at all.
4. Do you use move objects?
- I have a Better Build Buy mod, and it let’s you easily turn it on and off. I always turn it on when downloading from the gallery. I’m not a builder, but I use it sometimes when decorating, because it’s beyond me why can’t a put a painting on the wall if there’s a yoga mat on the floor!
5. Favorite mod?
- It’s a hard one! I love mods and use a lot of them. But I must say that I can’t play without More Columns mod. Even when I play vanilla. Because two rows is not enough.
6. First expansion/game/stuff pack you got?
- My game was 🏴‍☠️ for several years. Then I switched to the light side, and the first pack that I got was Cats and Dogs.
7. Do you pronounce “live mode” like aLIVE or LIVing?
- I think like aLIVE. But tbh I don’t think I pronounce it in English, since it’s not my native languge.
8. Who’s your favorite sim that you’ve made?
- Hmm. I still think about a sim I made in I think early 2019 when I first found out about mods and CC. And she was my test sim to try out all these mods and CC. I didn’t have a blog back then. I also didn’t know about the tab mode back then.
Tumblr media
9. Have you made a simself?
- No. I wanted to, but knowing my CAS skills she won’t look anything like me.
10. What sim traits do you give yourself?
- Socially awkward, cat lover and gloomy.
11. Which is your favorite EA hair color?
- The white blonde. One of the new swatches that were added.
12. Favorite EA hair?
- Hmm. I’d say a medium straight one and the half bun one.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
13. Favorite life stage?
- Young adult, and also infants and toddlers.
14. Are you a builder or are you in it for the gameplay?
- I can’t build 😭 I am a gameplay simmer.
15. Are you a CC creator?
- I think so, yes. I do recolours.
16. Do you have any simblr friends/a sim squad?
- Yes! I won’t name anyone, because I am afraind I will forget someone, but I do have simblr friends. Not a squad though.
17. What’s your favorite game? (1, 2, 3, or 4)
- 3 was my favourite for a long time, I still played it when Sims 4 was out for several years. But right now I ca’t imagine going back to 3. I really like the cartoony style of Sims 4.
18. Do you have any sims merch?
- No
19. Do you have a YouTube for sims?
- No. I once was very eager to make one! I even made a banner for the channel. And recorded a video. But when it was time to record a voice over, I realised that it’s not for me. I am too socially awkward. I was too nervous to even record myself, even though I was home alone 🤦‍♀️
20. How has your “sim style” changed throughout your years of playing?
- I don’t think it changed tbh. I have a same face syndrome, so all my sims look a like.
21. What’s your Origin ID?
- I don’t use my legal one amymore, because EA decided they don’t want my money (they don’t sell their games in my country anymore). So I made a new one, donwloaded a free base game and 🏴‍☠️ all the packs. I don’t share anything to the gallery. And I don’t feel safe sharing these IDs.
22. Who’s your favorite CC creator?
- There are a lot! I can’t name them all, but I must say that I have almost everything by @ravensim and @aira-cc in my mods folder.
23. How long have you had a simblr?
- Since June 2019 I think, so 4 years. My simblr is older than my son 😅
24. How do you edit your pictures?
- I 100% rely on gshade. I use a personal edit of Strawberry Rhubarb Gshade Preset. And I also add moodlets and stuff in Photoshop.
25. What expansion/game/stuff pack do you want next?
- If the leak about horses is true, I’d love to have them! I wish there will also be a unicorn! 🦄 And I’d also want faires.
25. What expansion/game/stuff pack is your favorite so far?
- I’d say Cats and Dogs and Cottage Living. But it’s hard to chose really. I also love Island Living, because Sulani is gorgeous.
I don’t know who to tag, because I am late to the party. If you haven’t done this yet, please, consider yourself tagged by me 🥰
