any thoughts on the breakdown of dteam dynamics and how that might fit into clashes due to enneagram types? this question was inspired by the simmering resentment in both sapnap and george on the yard podcast
Thank you for the follow-up context link! There’s been a whole lot of content flying around so having something to focus on is useful. I consulted heavily with my DTQK+ friend for this and they gave me a breakdown of the emotional lore.
“Dream, don’t let him. Do it.” God help me the long trailing shadow of DNF can make me drop my jaw even now. Fiction behavior.
Not going to lie, that whole story smacks of power trip on George’s part, this is George calling for Dream to protect him in real life instead of Minecraft. I don’t know if George is covering an insecurity with the need to poke at Sapnap’s vulnerability but considering one of his more frequently used words is ‘idiot’ he gets strangely abrasive with the people he feels relaxed around.
Sap is competitive and vulnerable to feelings of inferiority, which tend to be his rage-buttons. George and Sapnap have ‘lived’ together before, to… mixed results. They’re glad to be together but it’s looking like they’re already experiencing some friction, and this time there’s no end date, which might escalate things between them.
Back in the UK, Quackity and Sapnap bonded over terrorizing George’s nest when he was in a fairly vulnerable place still. Sap was happy to not be the butt of a joke (since he usually is) so he lost track of the fact that he was meant to be helping George with his mental health low. George can play nice (even if just to diffuse a situation) for as long as he has somewhere to retreat to, but if he gets cornered in his own space he’ll swipe when he feels he has nothing left to protect himself. George was very reactive in their time in the UK, which set Sapnap off, which set George off, and so on. George may still be carrying around some of that energy.
Sapnap definitely falls on the more reactionary anger side of things while George has a bit more of a rubber-band effect, pushed until he snaps. While George doesn’t spend much time angry-angry, he has a kind of… sadism? That comes out when he’s feeling detached and trying to get a rise out of his environment. It’s a bit concerning to hear about and I’m not sure I could point to a concrete reason why he has that trait, but apparently he knows how to stick the knife in, and going from the stories I believe it.

OH are we doing wips tonight? I’ve got three that I’m probably never going to finish!!
Let’s start with the c!dream team high fantasy gods au type of thing
George rolls his eyes. “I get the feeling that would be difficult to do. Killing him, I mean. He seems…”
“Tough?” Sapnap offers.
“Stubborn.”
“Yeah,” Sapnap sighs. He rests his chin in his palm. “Yeah, no, yeah. He’s kind of a little bitch.”
“You’re a little bitch,” George mindlessly replies. He easily dodges a pebble thrown his way with a chuckle. “So, what, does this guy have a name?”
“I don’t know, actually. The hunters all call him Dream, though.”
‘Dream’, also noted, and definitely more cruel. George’s mouth twists up into a bitter smile. Figures.
“Dream,” he drawls. The name is heavy. As he says it, the fire suddenly roars higher. Sapnap yelps and scoots away in a hurry. George ignores it. “What kind of name is Dream?”
Sapnap shrugs, still eyeing the fire carefully. “Dunno. We don’t exactly talk much anymore. Like I said, I’m surprised he didn’t get himself killed.”
“I wish he did,” George huffs. Another peal of thunder. “He’s beginning to really peeve me off here.”
“Gods forbid George Lore gets peeved off.”
George winces as the name drops, though Sapnap doesn’t seem to notice. He’s too busy looking out the window over George’s shoulder. George doesn’t turn around. He’s fairly sure that this Dream, that he’s outside doing something or the other. Probably setting an orphan on fire.
