I noticed that some artists tend to draw Nymeria of Ny Sar like a salty Martell and not a sandy Rhoynar princess from Essos, so here she is, folks.

I chose teal for the Rhoyne, and the symbol on her belt is the Imazigh symbol for ships (according to Google anyway) 💚

as we move onto the new year, i wanted to let you all know that although our past interests may not linger, we can still look back and reminisce on how we thoroughly enjoyed those things.

homestuck will always be a part of me. 413 is still a pattern i look for. i still see colored zodiac signs and think "no, that color is wrong." i see a pool ball and think of homestuck.

remember that it is ok to not enjoy things anymore, but also remember that it is ok that you did enjoy those pieces of media that shaped who you are today. always strive to be better than you were, but do not shame yourself for learning from what you used to be.

PLANKY TOWN

Larger and more populous, the Planky Town at the mouth of the river Greenblood is mayhaps the nearest thing the Dornish have to a true city, though a city with planks instead of streets, where the houses and halls and shops are made from poleboats, barges, and merchant ships, lashed together with hempen rope and floating on the tide.

Why do you think there weren’t any new Dornish houses formed during Nymeria’s conquest that were purely Rhoynar in origin?

Most were glad to see those flames, for their voyagings had been long and terrible before they came to Dorne, and many and more had been lost to storm, disease, and slavery. Nymeria and her followers assimilated into Andal culture for the most part, adopting their language and religion (though not their succession laws); while she did become a conqueror, she did so alongside her Dornish husbands, and so did many of the refugees. Establishing a purely Rhoynar noble house in Dorne would’ve taken away land from the indigenous population to people with no political power. Better to just marry a Rhoynar to a Andal lord with an actual blood claim to that land.

Secondly, is that the Greenblood Orphans—aka the only people in Dorne of pure Rhoynish descent—have famously refused to assimilate into this Andal culture even despite persecution, keeping their language in secret, their animistic religion over the Seven, and marrying each other. They don’t view Dorne as their home (hence their sorrow at the ships burning) nor call themselves Dornish. Rather, their home is on the Rhoyne, and they hope one day it’s safe enough to return there (though some like Ysilla and Yandry have already returned). Agreeing to own Dornish land, give up their language, adopt the Andal customs of knighthood, would be assimilating, which they’ve fought hard to resist. It makes sense why no new purely Rhoynar noble houses would arise; though obviously there’s pure Rhoynar families around in Dorne with the Greenblood Orphans, they’re considered without real power and take menial jobs (parallels to other marginalized ethnic diaspora groups in Europe, such as the Jewish and Rroma people, seem apparent at least to me).

I'm a big fan of the "Indigos are the tallest trolls" headcanon, so every time I see photos from the Requiem Cafe's lineups I get very happy!!!

One thing I want from TWOW and ADOS is more Sandy Dornishman rep. I like the design choice of an ethnically diverse Dorne but it feels a bit like it's mentioned and then forgotten about (the Orphans of the Greenblood are explored a bit which is cool tbf), especially Sandy Dornishmen who don't really turn up at all.
