Rest in power to Jason David Frank (1973- 2022) What I admired about him was that he embraced the Tommy Oliver character, the Power Rangers legacy and he didn’t take the fans for granted. Thank you for being a part of my childhood.

Happy 50th JDF
I made this after he passed, I know it's not really a birthday kind of drawing but it helps me remember him all the same...

Some pieces I did inspired by the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Once & Aways special. I've aways been more a super sentai guy, but I watch the first seasons of Power Rangers and have fond memories of the late Thui Trang.

If there's one thing I really hate in the newests Power Rangers series and in the comics is their insistence in want fit a stereotypes in every color.
Like "Blue Rangers are the techboys, the mechanical geniuses, expert in every high tech stuff" well, what's truth for almost all the teams except for:
Zeo, since Billy was out of the team and Rocky continued with the charisma of... Well, a rock
In Space, where all Rangers had the same knowledge of the Astro Megaship systems, except for Andros, who was the one to teach them everything
Lost Galaxy, where 3 out of 5 Rangers were enoughly qualified people to be part of Terraventure's crew, and the Green Ranger was the one among these three to be most fit to this description
Lightspeed Rescue, where all the tech stuff was made by someone out of the team
Ninja Storm, where all tech stuff was made by someone out of the team
Dino Thunder, where all the tech stuff was made by someone out of the team
SPD, where *gasp* all the tech stuff was made by someone out of the team
RPM, where the geniuses in team were Gem and Gemma, the Gold and Silver Rangers
Samurai, where the genius in the team was Antonio, the Gold Ranger
Wow, it seems a lot of exceptions, too much Ranger Teams going against the the universal laws hm...
It just is not worse than their insistence in bring Zordon back, but I'm not getting in this yet

Yes, we've lost Jason David Frank, known to play Tommy Oliver the original Green Ranger from the Power Rangers franchise. It was originally a Twitter rumor the other night, but I wouldn't believe it until I hear from either his family or a reliable news source. They said a friend of his confirmed it, but I wasn't sure still, so I went to bed and waited until the morning.
Well, it has been confirmed. Jason David Frank has sadly committed suicide and died at the age of 49.
My brother and I loved watching Power Rangers when we were kids. we would watch them on Jetix at my grandmother's old house because we didn't have cable back then. Tommy would become the Leader of the team and would have various forms throughout the Series, from Green to White, then as the new Red Ranger, up to the black Dino Ranger from Dino Thunder. We used to watch Dino Thunder every Saturday morning, we loved Jason's performance as Tommy. Tommy was one of, if not, the greatest Power Ranger of all, with great leadership, who is helpful, who will always fight off evil, and who will always be loyal to his friends and to everyone he knows.
Please, if you or someone you know and love are going through hardships, call the Suicide hotline immediately. Your life is so valuable, to be taken away, no matter what. Don't give in to whatever problems you're going through right now. Suicide is a very serious problem, and it's happening everywhere accross the world.
Again, if you or someone you know are going through something right now, don't wait. Call the hotline and go out to talk with your loved ones, listen and understand what's happening.
Remember, Suicide is a permanent solution to a temporary problem, and it is never, EVER, the answer to any problems at all. Period.
Thank you, Jason, for everything, may the power protect and be with you, always.
Jason David Frank.

RIP JDF Shocking absolutely no one, Tommy was my favorite Ranger growing up. Was even able to make a full white ranger suit a few years ago which, sadly, I've had to part with, but I still have the helmet and morpher. I had originally planned to unveil this as a print at a convention that I will be at this weekend, but the printshop I ordered from said there was going to be a delay and that I won't be able to get the prints until next week. Hence why I am putting this up earlier, rather than at the end of the month like I normally would with Patreon rewards.

RIP Jason David Frank (1973 - 2022)
Ah fuck. 😢
Tumblr media
He had such a commanding presence on the show, my first exposure to the villain-turns-hero trope, and he was basically my first antihero crush TBH.
youtube
And his popularity would lead him to return often throughout the entire franchise.
youtube
He was always happy to reprise his role in fan productions too.
youtube
RIP JDF, may the power protect you.
