Free Palestine // Kodak DC4800
During the Good Friday service last week, as we mourned Christ's death on the cross, I couldn't help but think how much blood has been spilled in Palestine. My only thought as the last candle was extinguished was of how Christ died in the same place where tens of thousands of innocent men, women, and children are being murdered as I type this. Hospitals are being bombed. Relief workers are being killed. People are being robbed of food, water, shelter, their homes, their families, their communities.
And for what? So that a colonial Zionist government, which is sponsored by a disappointing amount of other countries including the US, can take more land? So that real estate companies can advertise future beach homes on the very land that thousands of people were murdered? So that Israel can forcefully remove Palestinians from the land their families have called home for centuries?
Muslim Palestinians are observing Ramadan and Christian Palestinians celebrated Easter amidst gunfire and bomb shells. So much blood has been spilled in the decades since 1948.
Wasn't Christ's death already too much?
