answering more POM WRAITH au/Pingo asks!!
featuring: biology questions, creatures, dingo (unfortunately), and more!! check it out ↓↓
she does need sleep! she doesn't need to sleep as often as people, but she's a little wraith and she needs to snooze every like... i dunno. three days? sure, let's go with that.
although in the first few days of her being on PNF404, i could see her getting bored one night and poking around her crewmate's rooms to see what they're doing (spoilers: they're all just sleeping). in the morning after, dingo talks about a very bizarre dream he had with a specter watching him sleep! everyone dismisses it as the ranger having some weird sleep paralysis, but pom's sweating at the table thinking about how she should be way more careful if she does that again.
this ask did inspire me though, i'll probably make more art explaining how she works sometime later hehe...
that'd be scary... although, if there's anyone incentivized to wraithify olimar, it'd probably be the plasm wraith! that golden goo is really fond of him, and they'd love to make olimar just like them

she might look kinda scary but she's a sweetheart!! pom would genuinely struggle to make herself hurt humans. if there's a beast threatening her crew though -- that thing is mince meat!!

yes!! he's the first one to discover her secret. it'd probably happen on accident out on the field pretty early on when pom is forced to defend herself with no pikmin, but it's no difference to Oatchi -- pom is pom! he'd bark and give her helmet a lick, and when pom realizes her rescue pup isn't scared of her it's quite the relief...

she doesn't need to eat human food, but she does need to consume living creatures for biomass! human food is definitely delicious and she very much enjoys things like chocolate or hot coco, but to sustain her form and keep up energy she has to go for creatures
i'll probably make art for this later to explain better, but it is kinda like an amoeba -- after killing something, she can cover it and dissolve it with her goo. easy peasy!

YES!!!!!!!!! there are so, so many ways that could happen and each one is hilarious... i've written out a few different scenarios, i should pick one to draw out... it'd be funny if dingo learns her secret but decides to trust her and keep it safe. but he's, you know. dingo. he's not good at lying, especially to his crewmates (and especially to his actual childhood friend of a doctor who was already very suspicious of the new blood!)
of COURSE i'm very abnormal about those two.... actually if y'all have scenarios you wanna see with those two, send more asks and i'll probably end up drawing them lol
that's actually a really good question! i haven't thought too much about how her full wraith would visually change, but if she ate enough and got stronger i imagine she'd finally be as big as the other two. she'd probably gain more wraithy abilities and attacks! trying to take down a powered up full wraith pom would be a very difficult fight, even for those with the best dandori skills and a full squad of pikmin

thinking about a Pikmin 5.,..
because im insane
Following a Olimar and Louie who have joined the Rescue Corps after they got less money after the pikmin 3 crashing. The Rescue Corps in the meantime from 4 to 3 have been dealing with more people getting stranded or crashing on the planet and Russ has recently found evidence that something is causing the crashes.
Being that Louie and Olimar have been to PNF-404 the most, they get sent again to solve the issue and save any castaways they run into. After running into a wraith again, Russ calls in saying that the wraith seems to giving off the waves causing large/medium ships crashing but they're too small themselves to do that. They need to find and destroy what ever kind of wraith is so strong to cause the crashes being the Mother Wraith connected to a radio tower.
might do some more writing for it later but these are my current little silly thoughts.

Captains Done!
I've now finished the Pikmin Captain figures I was working on! There's two different bodies, and a helmet and non-helmeted head, so effectively there's two complete sets of figures. The heads can be swapped around too!
I had to go with a solid helmet just due to the complexity involved in attempting to do a clear thing at this scale. Its something that's plagued me for years. Can't really find an off the shelf solution, and casting something in resin just has too high a cost of failure. I like this fine though, it gets the idea across, and I can swap out the fully detailed head whenever I feel like it. Its kind of nostalgic in a way, since its similar to how I handled the helmet on my very first attempt, well over a decade ago.
This guy's probably still a bit larger than the new ones, but he's so much smaller than the monstrosity I made most recently.
That helmet dome is the same ones I used for the cockpit canopies in the ship, to show how massive everything got lol. Really it was a ton of work to get that dome working for the helmet, and in the end it just looks so wrong being round, the real one is so squished and oddly shaped. I was really happy to be able to capture that with these.
Here's the seated bodies. They're meant to be able to fit in the cockpits, but when I tried it was a bit snug and I cracked Louie's hair a bit...so I don't think I'll be trying that again soon. I printed out the comfy chair model I made for the gold version of the ship too, just for something for Shachou to sit on.
I also printed off a little Olimar sprout from the bad end of Pikmin 1(the end I actually got the first time I played...I was not good at the game*) I'm really happy with the dirt.
He doesn't have a leaf yet, I want to start working on the Pikmin themselves soon, and I have ideas for how to handle the leaves, and I want everything to be consistent, so I'm not rushing it for now.
I'm also starting to really get in to a treasure hunting mood, I've got the marbles, I found the perfect shuttlecock just lying around our garage, and I've ordered some correct shoe polish, hanafuda cards, and a bunch of blank bottle caps, so that's probably going to be a thing going forward.
I spent so long this evening looking at globes, I think I'm just going to make my own lol.
*I didn't know about Pikmin drowning so I walked straight in to the lake in the Forest of Hope with a full complement of Reds and Yellows and didn't know about whistling to save them, there were no survivors.

Summary: Your and Akito's son finally won his soccer game for the first time after lots of hard work and practice. Such an occasion deserves a celebration, right?

A/N: kid's quotes are in red. Um... Sorry for not posting at 10:00..... I was too busy playing Pikmin 4.... And unpacking....👀 its more of an akito x his son(platonically, obvi) than akito x reader so i tried adding some aki x reader fluff in the end/middle... Dont know how well i did... C/N means childs name not come near... C/N/N means child nickname not come near now... Child is supposed to be around 6-7..
Shinonome Akito:
Immediately after the game, we rush over to C/N to congratulate him.
“Good job out there, kiddo.”
I wrap an arm around his neck as I ruffl his hair, smiling widely as he returned the smile. The sound of happy laughter fills the atmosphere as the three of us head off to our favorite cafe right around the corner.
Minutes later, we arrive at said cafe. After finding a parking space, I exit the car and grab C/N before swooping him on my shoulders.
“Come on, let's go. This place makes the best pancakes.”
“Not true. I make the best pancakes.”
“Close. You make the 2nd best pancakes.”
“Lies.”
“No.”
After entering the decently sized cafe, we find ourselves seated by a table next to the window.
“You're proud of me for winning, right daddy?”
“'Course, C/N/N. Why?”
“Well, since I've been good, can I get a puppy?—”
“No. No way. Absolutely not.”
I immediately cut him off at the mention of me living in the same house as a canine.
“But.... But why not?”
“Because, I...”
“He's scared of dogs.”
“Sh-Shut up.”
I narrow my eyes at Y/N as she snickers, my attention then turned towards C/N as he speaks.
“Daddy is afraid of dogs? Why?”
“Because he got bitten by one once, then decided that all dogs in the world are bad.”
“I said shut up!”
“.... But.... But dogs are cute and fluffly and cuddly and.... And I want a dog!”
C/N speaks loudly, causing a few eyes to be drawn towards us.
“Oi, stop shouting. People are watching. If I say no dog, then no dog, got it? You can get a dog when you grow up. Now hurry up and decide what you want to eat, we're about to order.”
I give him the half lidded eyes with a slightly serious tone. The little boy finally stops talking, his face all pouty as he poorly holds the big menu, the plastic bending.
“Mommy, I want pancakes and cheesecake.”
“C/N, you can only pick one; that's too much. Just ask your dad to order one and you order the other so you guys can share.”
“Hm? What?”
I ask, as if the thought of sharing my precious cheesecake or pancakes was so absurd.
“You heard.”
I sigh and give her the half lidded eyes, before eventually complying.
After we order, our deserts arrive in a short while, and I feel my mouth water at how delicious the food looks. Especially the pancakes.
“Try and top this.”
I smirk as I take a bite into the big fluffy pancakes, the texture making my taste buds flutter.
“You'll see.”
“Yeah, like, in a million years.”
“Shut up.”

a blog post about "Stargazing Pancakes"
hiii! long time no see ehehe ^^ i would like to write about the recent mini animated series i published: "Stargazing Pancakes"

Stargazing Pancakes is a few skits written by me and @HEYimHeroic,
the idea of "stargazing pancakes" was first brought up from another idea i had, i had this idea of alice and pau going on fun adventures together, but i quickly realized i wasn't capable of doing long story episodes, but!! i could still do short little skits, so that's what i wanted to do.
"anything goes"! i said when i first "pitched" the idea to alice, and they immediately wrote "Pikmin Doom" within like, 5 minutes of me sending that message, and, i got to work ahaha. more ideas started pilling up, which is the episodes that i published. both alice and i changed and wrote and adjusted each one to make each one better c:
"why did you call it stargazing pancakes?" you may ask!!
well, it wasnt just pulled out of a hat, i just thought itd be a silly name because the premise of the "show" is just alice and pau in a room doing silly things, and i asked myself: "what exactly can you do in a little room?" (its been 13 months and i still ask myself this) not much, you can stare at the ceiling, you can stare at the wall, and feel lonely, slowly loose your head, but that's as much as you can do, right? well, you can also get hungry, and alice and i like pancakes, and i missed that, i missed that every day i woke up to alice heating up yummy chocolate-chip pancakes on the microwave and we'd watch youtube videos or the ace attorney anime while we gobbled them up: a perfect start to a day full of fun; so i decided to stargaze pancakes; as i fell asleep every night, i would dream about those nice memories we made, those warm embracing memories with syrup on top. So, that's what stargazing pancakes is. ehehe.
Originally, we wrote 6 episodes, but, by the 5th (Meeting Multiverse Variants) something bad happened, and, I found myself admitted to a Psych Ward, where I had a lot of time to think about things, when I came out, i decided i should just publish the 5 we'd already made, and take some time to recover from everything.
This 6th episode is also a bit different, so, if I do end up making it, it'll have a bit of a different tone ^^
Also, little note: it came to my attention as each episode released that alice's character is very antagonistic in each episode, which was not at all my intention, hahaha... and "Alice's Gym Club" really sealed the deal on that... (although, let it be known, alice is like, the number one protector of Pau, and i hope i can show it in the future, because that's the way it is in real life, too ehehe ^^)

What is the first boss of Pikmin Echo?
Day 1
On my first day on this planet, I awoke in the darkness.
Completely lost, on an unfamiliar surface, without a clue as to the location of my Dolphin.
As the sun began to rise, a strange pattern marking the area I had slept, began to fade away.
Had I imagined it?
I quickly roused myself, gathered my bearings and surveyed the area, my immediate mission: to find my ship.
My eyes turned towards an secluded crook in the distance,
and just out of reach, I spotted the Main Engine!
For such a vital component to my Dolphin to be laying bare on the field--it could only mean that my ship must be in critical condition.
I pondered the situation, but I was lost for a plan to find a way in, until I met the Pikmin.
I walked past thorns, past gates of stone, past bubbling rivers, until I found something peculiar lying in a field of clovers.
As I approached what I now call the Onion, it quickly became startled, and burst out of the ground;
The Onion's spindly legs tossed me off my feet, as it flew out of my sight!
In its haste, it left behind a single sprout.
As I watched it sway back and forth, in the absence of any wind, curiosity overwhelmed me...I plucked the sprout, and met my first Pikmin.
I was shocked! The plant stared at me! It had eyes!
Could this be some form of hybrid between plant and animal?
I decided to name it a "Pikmin", since it reminded me of a certain Pik Pik carrot back home.
I was startled when it ran to me without any warning, and threw it away as far as I could--but it ran straight back to my side!
It didn't seem phased at all.
I decided to keep searching for a way around to the enclosure, as the Pikmin followed me close behind.
Eventually, curiosity got the best of it--It started to carry a seed it had found laying on the ground.
Curiosity must be contagious, because now, I too had to follow, I had to see where this Pikmin planned to carry it!
We climbed up the fallen branch of a long-forgotten tree, and jumped into a new field--where lie the Onion!
It must have landed here after I had startled it.
The seed that the Pikmin brought to the Onion caused it to propagate more sprouts.
With a newfound understanding of the Pikmin's relationship to the Onion, I gathered as many seeds as I could from the surrounding field, and assembled a small army.
I was lost in the fun, until there were no more pellets to collect, and I became conscious of how many beady little eyes were staring at me, patiently awaiting my next move.
In the distance, I recognized the same box that was guarding the enclosure to my Main Engine!
I commanded the Pikmin to push the box out of the way, but just as they did,
I caught a glimpse of a large beast, who quickly snatched the Main Engine in one bite, as it quickly skittered away using the box we just pushed as an escape!
The Bejeweled Flint Beetle is the first large creature I've encountered.
Native to the Tearful Grotto, It carries its young Flintlings atop its back as it skitters the surface, searching for food.
I cornered it at the top of the tree stump, but that didn't stop it from skittering about; it was fast!"
The creature's hard shell was impervious to my swarm of Pikmin when hit from the side--but if I could land a hit straight on the center of its back, surely the concentrated force of a falling Pikmin would do something?
By throwing Pikmin onto its back, its metallic shell rang out with a chime, and one of its children popped off of its back!
The fallen ones skittered away, hiding themselves in the cracks of the stump.
Once no children remained on its back, one final hit sent it flipping over, and when it landed on its back, it spat out the Main Engine!
I looked at it, dumbfounded as to what I might do now. It was such a heavy part!
I got a grip on it, and lifted with all of my force, but it failed to budge.
Just as I lost hope, my party noticed my struggle, and gathered around the engine, and lifted it straight into the air!
Their strength in numbers astounds me.
They started moving, and I became frightened--were they going to bring it to the Onion? I tried to catch them and put a stop to it--but they walked straight past the Onion...and brought it to my Dolphin, which had been hiding deep within a field of blooming clovers!
I was mortified. The Dolphin was in horrifying condition, stripped to a bare skeleton of its former self--it was missing every single one of its critical components.
To make matters worse, my life support beeped harshly, indicating that without a charge from my Eternal Fuel Dynamo, only 3 days remained before its systems would fail.
My thoughts began to cloud as the stress of the situation overwhelmed me...but then, I watched the Pikmin, singing, dancing, and celebrating their job well done.
Something about their optimism.. the pressure of these terrifying events started to fade away, and a spark of light reignited within me.
I will press on, and rebuild my ship, or perish in the attempt.
As I installed the Engine into the bottom of the ship, I couldn't help but reflect on the mysteries of this world, and the connection I formed with it.
The Pikmin had only recently been brought into this world...how could they have known it belonged to my ship? Or even the location of my ship?
I'm at a loss. For now, perhaps I'll theorize they used those giant red sniffers of theirs to identify the scent.
This moment, at the start of my journey, filled me with a sense of hope that perhaps even in the Dolphin's current state, I will travel this alien landscape, find the missing pieces, and return home.

silly little in-character notes for hito for the pikmin au that is slowly unfolding with my friends! might write some for akiko too...
Hito's Notes
Red Pikmin
These are tough little guys! I've noticed they tend to land nose-first when I throw them at other animals, maybe that's got something to do with why they hit so hard. Turns out they're also fireproof, which I had to learn the hard way, haha... I should really make sure the pikmin are all standing clear before testing the thrusters.
Yellow Pikmin
You gotta be careful if you toss these little guys, they go way higher than I was expecting! It's like those big ears catch the wind, haha! They also don't seem too bothered when messing with live wires- I had to pull one out of the control panel of my ship the other day, and it was fine!
Blue Pikmin
Other pikmin don't handle water too well, but these little guys march right in like it's nothing! I wonder if it's got to do with those mouths of theirs... funny that they're the only ones that have visible ones, when any of the pikmin can cut into my food supply with no problem.
Purple Pikmin
Stars, these guys are heavy! Ha, makes me wish I'd kept up my fitness regime from college... speaking of, these guys are amazing in a fight! They can even go toe-to-toe with me if they're feeling up for a friendly wrestle!
White Pikmin
I know all pikmin are little, but these guys are really little. They're quick, though, and the acid they spit keeps them out of the worst of trouble! Not like they're not capable of getting into it, though, haha... at least they didn't get sick after eating my expired food.
Rock Pikmin
I know there's a special name for plants that grow in rocks, but I can't remember it... sorry, Akiko, I'll have to ask you again if I get back home. But anyway, these guys are rock-solid, even if they're bad at holding onto walls and animals... haha, guess they're not rock climbers!
Winged Pikmin
These little guys are super handy! They can fly right over obstacles that'd give other pikmin problems. And since they're so small, they're not easy to knock out of the air... which can be a problem if they're taking off with your tools!
Ice Pikmin
I've never been good with the cold, but that's not these guys' fault. They're friendly as any other pikmin once they hear the whistle, and they can freeze water to let other pikmin cross it... or make my canteen more refreshing on a hot day, haha!
Glow Pikmin
These pretty little guys only come out when it's dark. Nothing seems to hurt them too badly, which is a good thing, considering how rough this place gets at night. They always vanish in the morning, like I used to do in college, haha.
Onion
Ha, I know it's not the most creative name, but that's what it looks like! It keeps the pikmin safe at night, brings them around while I'm looking for a spot to explore, and whatever's going on inside it, it can make more pikmin if you bring it the right stuff.
Leaflings
Milton's not exactly a pikmin, but he sure isn't like me, either. I wonder if he was always like this, or if something happened to him...? Ha, either way, he sure isn't interested in acting like a pikmin. The whistle just annoys him, and I wouldn't dream of grabbing his stem and throwing him.

really don't like the way nintendo does difficulty nowdays. where 90% of the game is pretty easy with no way to increase the difficulty, and then there's like an hour of super-hard stuff bolted onto the end for the people who got to the end
they've been doing this for mainline mario for like two decades & it works fine there bc moving around as mario is generally fun in itself and those games aren't really about challenge anyway? but it seems like their default for everything now. hearing about how they handled the difficulty was the main reason i didn't touch the new pikmin or mario RPG remake
the mario RPG remake actually has both an easy and normal mode, and both are easier than the original (aside from a boss rush tacked on at the very end), but no hard mode. and holy shit watching footage of that game the combat just looks so boring because you can bulldoze almost everything with basic attacks. like, turn-based RPGs are a genre that has to have some amount of difficulty cause making meaningful tactical decisions is where the fun is in turn-based combat. you can't carry a whole game with just timed hits. those are just spice
holy shit just put hard modes in your games. please. i don't want to have to slog through 30 hours of mindlessly easy gameplay to get to some actual meat. let the little kids the game is for have their normal & easy modes while i get to challenge myself. everyone wins. maybe some of those kids would even enjoy a hard mode too

WOOHOO!!! CHIE & YOSUKE HC SPEEDRUN LETS GO!!
The two are siblings energy (srry yochie shippers, they're gay in this house!)
Both have bi wife energy.
They have little "sleepovers" where they dye their hair then Chie raids the fridge and sleeps on the couch.
They are the type of bestie that say the fucking RUDEST UNCALLED FOR SHIT to each other and be cool by next week.
Fr tho sometimes they hit a nerve and then the other would get the silent treatment or a kick to the balls.
Yosuke sometimes dogsits for Chie.
Chie and Yosuke both have a crush on Beyonce.
Yosuke LOVES scaring her.
Chie has many siblings (she's a middle child) while Yosuke is a only child.
The twos theme song IS childish war.
The first time Yosuke got kicked was when he put a bug in her face as a joke.
Chie used to help Yosuke when he fell but it just happened too often so she stopped.
The two are wealthy. Chie comes from old money while Yosuke's new.
Chie's wealth did start going down because of Junes but she CAN'T completely blame Yosuke like the town does, it's not his fault.
Because of her family tighter budget especially on food, Chie would go hungry alot of the time. (mostly cause she would give alot of her food to her siblings) Chie wouldn't tell anyone ESPECIALLY YOSUKE! But Yosuke would catch on after all the demands for stake.
This leads Chie to help out Yosuke at work for some cash. (she would tell her fam that yosuke beg her to help instead of saying she's working there.)
Chie's families business is one of the places Junes collaborates with in the epilogue. 
Chie is one of the rare people Yosuke finds in his life that LIKES FROGS! at least she doesn't hate them
Yosuke let her try some of his weed. It was a interesting experience.
When Yosuke talks about his time in the city to Chie she finds the 'cities' part fun but not much the people. She can tell Yosuke is looking at his past friends with rose tinted glasses, they sound like assholes.
The two would realize that they BOTH have a self-sacrifice nature and that it's bad. fr like i love you both but you two need therapy
Chie shares her bandage with Yosuke after battle.
Chie has met Yosuke's parents before and 1) THEY'RE SO NICE SHE CANT BE MAD AT THEM BECUZ OF JUNES. 2) Yosuke's mom is hot.
Yosuke would fully plan out a murder if She EVER says that tho.
Yosuke would carry Chie home when she injure herself while training at the riverbank.
As much Chie wants to roast him, he does play a damn good guitar riff.

myth's game writeup of 2023
i waited until the new year to finish this in case i managed to beat a game during december. i did not. ANYWAY.
this will contain new games as well as games i only got around to in 2023. light on spoilers but be warned
Octopath Traveler II (2023)
as far as i remember, this was the first new game I played this year, and god did it deliver. I've been a fan of octopath since the first one came out on switch in 2018, counting it as my favorite game of all time, so to have a sequel after all this time was thrilling. it did almost everything octopath 1 did and better. new path actions, day/night system, branching stories, fucking boats?? incredible.
my biggest gripe has to be the new hidden classes. I started with throne so getting inventor 10 minutes after my chapter one did definitely fuck up the progression a little bit. I think I preferred ot1 hidden classes. while the dungeons were underwhelming, the boss battles really make you fight for these secret techniques, something absent in 3 out of the 4 hidden classes of octopath 2.
overall: 4/5 BP.
Xenoblade Chronicles 3: Future Redeemed (2023)
xenoblade 3 as the end of the klaus trilogy really didn't sit well with me, for reasons that don't belong on my review of its dlc, but future redeemed fixed nearly every problem i had with base xc3 — both story and gameplay wise. it ties every xenoblade game and even some of gears and saga into a neat little 40 hour bow, and is truly a love letter to the entire series. I can only think of one problem I still have with it. the fucking menu music.
where do i even fucking start with this one really. relatively speaking, I'm a new xenoblade fan, having started xc1 in march 2022 during a harrowing experience with adhd meds, and since then it had kinda consumed me. I finished it in about a week, went on to watch xenoblade 2 because I had heard the gameplay wasn't great, and got my hands on xenoblade 3 day of release.
overall: 5 dance apples.
Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom (2023)
as someone who was not immune to the hype surrounding botw, I had high hopes for the sequel. hopes that were painfully, slowly, fed into a trash compactor over my playthrough. this is another game I got on release day, lining up outside gamestop in the heat, and lets not forget that it's the only first-party switch game with a price tag of seventy bucks.
the game plays like a tech demo. I have a lot of love in my heart for it. the story was better that botw, the world was more expansive than botw, but the problem here is that everything it does is directly compared to breath of the wild. it doesn't get enough time to shine, because we're in the exact same world as 6 years ago, but instead of pinkish black malice we have blackish pink gloom. i much prefer the runes to the zonai abilities, and the sense of wonder that permeated breath of the wild is replaced by a sense of nostalgia that just doesn't appeal to me much.
all of this isn't to say it's a bad game. I think it's a great game, honestly, but a great game that wasn't meant for me. I've seen the insane shit people do with ultrahand, but it just... isn't my style.

Pikmin 4 (2023)
it's pikmin. i dont have much to say about it. it was a lot of fun, loved that part where i bulborbed all over those guys. im not a gameplay reviewer, at heart i mostly talk about story, and a game like pikmin doesn't have much for me to comment on. good fun. lived up to expectations. probably wouldn't replay.
overall: 7500 sparklium
Final Fantasy XIV: Stormblood (2017)
oh, stormblood... the rage you still fill my veins with. I'm not going to spend too long on this one because I have better things to do with my life than shit on an expansion everyone already hates, but let me make it clear I actually do have reasons for disliking it.
having ala mhigo built up since the very start of a realm reborn, only to have half of the ala mhigo expansion take place halfway across the star, was very disappointing. the monotony of the three areas in gyr abania compared to the three far east areas was very disappointing. the treatment of the people of the steppe and honestly that entire segment in the main story quest was very disappointing. hien, as a character, in his entirety, was very disappointing.
I will say it had strong parts. the 61-70 quests for several jobs were the strongest in their entire story (see: dark knight). the dungeons started to get more interesting. it gave us the quest Child Labor, which is hilarious and I'll never be finishing it because I want it there forever.
overall: 1/3 WHM Lillies.
Final Fantasy XIV: Shadowbringers (2019)
ffxiv immediately got better the second 4.0 was over. even the patch quests instantly shot up in quality. it's not even funny. the lead up to shadowbringers was the most fun I had had with the game since a realm reborn, and all of the first was heartbreaking to go through even though I was spoiled on That Character's Identity.
the duty trust system (is that what it was called?) made dungeons much more fun. getting to go through hell with alphinaud alisaie and thancred made everything 10x better, even if it was a lot slower. the story, again, heartbreaking — ryne's arc in particular felt like being stabbed by thousands of little needles while trying to play. in the best way, of course. and amaurot... amaurot. getting to quote our favorite knight in there was my 8th umbral calamity.
shadowbringers also marks when a lot of your job's functionality is really unlocked, so doing the level 80 raid series was genuinely a ton of fun. and again the thousands of little needles. i cried at least 7 times during the main story.
overall: 85/100 kenki gauge.
Katana Zero (2019)
possibly my favorite game this year. the protagonist, zero (or as i like to call him, katana from zero,) ticked all the boxes for a character I'd be absolutely obsessed with. true enough, i fell in love. the fast-paced gameplay, the diegesis of gameplay elements which would typically go unquestioned, and the care that seeps through every dialogue choice all solidify katana zero as one of my favorite game experiences ever. I'll leave it at this, because I encourage everyone to at least give it a try.
overall: Yes, that should work.
Fire Emblem Engage (2023)
this is one of the few 2023 releases on this list that I didn't get on launch, because at the time I had relatively little interest in fire emblem as a series. then I made a lot of friends who enjoy it, and in october, bestie sen decided to buy it for me as an early birthday present. everyone say thank you sen.
considering this is my first fire emblem game, i have absolutely no deeper insight into how it matches up compared to the others, and plenty of people more eloquent than me have already talked about that. what I do know is that the gameplay was surprisingly fun as my first tactical rpg, and the story was passable. all the characters were appealing in one way or another, and I'm still mad I had to choose between marrying kagetsu or fogado. they're both my husbands at heart.
overall: I didn't internalize enough of this game to come up with a clever rating.
Fire Emblem Engage: Fell Xenologue (2023)
I was expecting the dlc to continue the main story, so I put it off until I had finished the base game. in hindsight, I regret it, because I'd love to have brought the winds and twins with me to fight their evil versions and alternate universe dad. the story was... alright. I really liked all the small battle interactions between fell characters and our party members which they would've known. I instantly recognized fogado in chapter 1 because I am in love with him by the way.
overall: i dont know. 1¾ dragonstones
with 2024 upon us, I'll probably be writing reviews for games as I play them. I'm trying to use tumblr more as a social platform instead of just reblogging. we'll see how that plays out. if you like any of these games (yes, even tears of the kingdom) please talk to me about them! that's all for now. look out for my mangled thoughts on SANABI and Nier: Automata next :)

list of headcanons about the pikmin 3 captains :3
alph:
• autistic with a special interest in engineering
• struggles to detect sarcasm a lot and takes everything quite literally
• since landing on pnf-404 and finding the pikmin, he copies the noises they make as a vocal stim. particularly attached to rock pikmin because of the sounds they make
• has a low pain tolerance (just like me fr fr)
• likes collecting things. his room at home is full of stuff to do with his special interests. also why he likes the piklopedia.
• since he left koppai his grandfather has started making little trinkets and selling them. he's saving all the money that he makes so that the whole family can have a big celebration when he comes home
• when brittany found the yellow pikmin and he learned that they were electricity conductors he got really excited and started swimming as soon as he thought he was out of view. (he wasn't, but brittany doesn't want to embarrass him.)
• really wants to try and use the yellow pikmin in the ship engineering but is too afraid to ask the others for permission
• always takes a pretty long time to desensitise to his environment every time he removes the spacesuit
• constantly trying to impress his teammates and thinks that they're really cool

• comes across as very serious at first because of how he delivers instructions. he's not actually anywhere near as stern as he looks, but when he's giving orders he's trying to constantly think ahead and plan the next move while also being as direct and concise as he can and can't make himself sound cheerful on top of that.
• smiles with his eyes more than his mouth - unless you've gotten to know him you won't notice
• has a loud, hearty laugh. very contagious.
• sometimes he talks too loudly, especially when he's indoors. he forgets that the helmets aren't muffling his voice anymore.
• has plans to make a pond in his garden after he's able to settle down and hyperfixates on it. will ramble for hours about what it's going to have in it

HELLO
I’m dxmpstr. or dxmpstr mxn. or simply Lukas.
i’m a 21 year old humanoid thing. i use He/Him mostly, but It is good too. like in a creature way. i tend to disconnect myself from humanity sometimes.
i don’t do much. creatively or in life. Ken’s job is just Beach, my job is just Hyperfixate.
i do have my few creative endeavours that i have yet to actually start. i’m hoping this blog will be the kick i need. i have an ao3 account collecting dust because i haven’t actually started writing anything. i can’t draw for shit so writing is what i got. i also make edits every now and then. eventually, i’ll make a master list of all of them and whatever writing stuff i post in the future.
moving on, how about i get into some of those said hyperfixations?
to start, one of the most recent is yakuza/ryu ga gotoku. been into it for only over a year but it’s consumed my entire life. i’m also very into anything hannibal lecter, be it the movies, books, or tv show. i’ve been into that for a few years now. at this point, i’d say Jerma985 has evolved into a hyperfixation for me, im constantly watching his stream archives and clip complications. my earliest hyperfixation i can remember is Invader Zim, i’ve been into it since i was a wee boy (it really explains a lot about how i ended up if you think about it). basically if i have a board (meme or otherwise) on pinterest for it, it’s a hyperfixation. some of the only exceptions to that are the band Trash Boat because they aren’t big enough and Last Podcast on the Left, but that’s made up for with meme pages i follow elsewhere. rapid fire other hyperfixations are Pikmin, Kirby, Katamari, Good Omens, Mr Robot, Pokemon, Hellsing, Hatsune Miku/all the Cryptonloids (and to a smaller degree vocal synth in general) and Project Sekai (Colorful Stage)/Project Diva.
some of my non-hyperfixation interests include: music, video games, reading, anime and manga, cartoons (adult or otherwise), movies, etc.
in terms of music, i really do listen to a bit of everything. some of my favourites are Trash Boat (as previously stated), Jhariah, Babymetal, Oingo Boingo, Fall Out Boy, blink-182, Buck-Tick, Deco*27, Malice Mizer, Atarashi Gakko, and Will Wood (Tapeworms era too).
this is going on way too long. i either suck at talking about myself or i never shut the fuck up about myself. there’s no in between. i’m open to talk about whatever else wasn’t talked about here. like if you wanna know my favorite anime or movies or whatever, just ask. same goes for if you wish to find my other dwellings on the webs.
that’s been my intro. now to go back into hiding until the next time someone needs an omen or a bridge collapse.

Palutena: That's Louie, Olimar's coworker. He's a lot more formal than Olimar, but quite a bit more... hungry.
Viridi: Hungry is a little nice, isn't it? I heard he ate their company into a massive debt, and the only thing he can think of for his reports is how much he wants to EAT the environment!
Pit: It kinda sounds like we could be friends! What do you think his opinion on ice cream is?
Palutena: You'll have all the time in the world to ask him while you're dodging his Pikmin.
Viridi: Not so fast! Louie has one species of Pikmin that he can pull at random: the Bulbmin! This is a magical little crossbreed of Pikmin and Bulbin, their natural predator! With weight like that, it can do INCREDIBLE damage, but can't latch on to opponents!
Pit: *Sniff, sniff* Hey, do you guys smell pizza?
Palutena: Oh, good, Papa Louie's here! Viridi, you got the meat lover's, didn't you?
Viridi: Obviously! You can keep your olive and mushroom nonsense.
Pit: You guys ordered pizza?! From my opponent?!
Viridi: Pit, Papa Louie's a sensation! He's opened seventeen restaurants and counting, and he loves coming up with exciting new combinations!
Palutena: As a fighter, he's quite aerodynamic, but watch out for hits from his pizza paddle and his red pepper bombs! They're good for flavor AND knockback!
Pit: ...Do you think I can have some pizza too, Lady Palutena?
Palutena: Maybe if you renounce your pineapple-loving ways.

Just a thought; Some spoilers
I got this lil idea for an au of pikmin 4. It's a little silly but we're all here for that kind of stuff right?
Basically a human shrank down to around the same size as the other characters, maybe a head taller but still pretty tiny. Was it the sparklium? Magic? The will of the universe? Who knows! The human certainly doesn't
The human can be one of the residents from the house we explored in.
The timeline is set before the game and the human runs around their backyard trying to survive. The human does use pikmin to aid in their survival, mostly pikmin that has been left behind. The human is very fond of their ten pikmin.
I want to say they know Moss too, maybe when she is a lot younger. Mostly because when it's time for rescue corp to leave, Moss is in good hands with the human. Bonus thought; the anceint sirehound was once the human's pet before getting shrank down. He still remembers their hooman's scent.
They do know how to speak with everyone because they have spent time with the leaf sage. The human kind of see the leaf sage as a weird grandpa figure and spent a lot of time with him. In fact, the leaf sage is a key figure to the human's survival, teaching them the art of dandori that translated well to surviving on the surface.
Just a fun au to noodle on and interactions between the human and everyone else. Especially with Schnauz and Olimar interpterion of the treasures.
Everyone will be curious and vice versa! Yonny would be... rather interested with the human too.
