Hiya! I was scrolling through the Moondrop tag when I saw your post about lining/coloring your sketches with credit. I’ve been in a bit of art block so I thought why not try it. Because the sketch is yours I won’t post this to my own account but thought I’d at least share it with you.

final thoughts · spring 2022
all my final thoughts on the spring 2022 season, in case someone cares about them.
aharen-san wa hakarenai (7/10)
i enjoyed this show so much! loveable protagonist who form an even more loveable couple and loveable secondary characters. both op and ed are iyashikens by themselves. fully recommend.
bubble (4/10)
beautiful art, gorgeous animation, good music... and that's it. the characters are totally forgetable, the movie couldn't convince me that there was any romance there, and they forgot to unveil the mystery behind the bubbles. so many questions with no answers, plot holes, and a weird mix between the little mermaid and god knows what.
dance dance danseur (7/10)
an enjoyable show about ballet. took me back to those days where i wanted to attend to ballet classes and... glad i didn't lol. the art was beautiful, no complains about the animation, loved the op and ed, ruo best bitch.
deaimon (7?/10)
chill show about sweets and parenting (kind of). not that it's boring, i just didn't pay enought attention to it. i have no reasons to not recommend, i mean... itsuka is adorable.
gunjou no fanfare (5.5/10)
i love horses. well, i love animals in general. when i saw that this show was coming up i inmediately added it to my planning list (and bc sawano was there ngl). i actually liked the first episode, then i remember liking some random scenes... and that's it. my brain dozes off everytime i watch it and, at this point, i'm way too lost to fully understand what's going on.
heroine tarumono!: kiraware heroine to naisho no oshigoto (7/10)
truly enjoyable show about hiyori, juri, and i think idols. eps 10 and 11 had me rolling from how angsty i felt about them, althought that won't change all the fun i had before that shitshow. honeyworks are *chef's kiss*, nagisa best boy, and that's pretty much it.
kaguya-sama wa kokurasetai: ultra romantic (8.5/10)
our favorite tsunderes strike again with another season and holy fuck. i think this is the best season yet! i'm up to date with the manga, so i know what will happen and trust me, y'all aren't ready. i myself am not ready bc last episode will be a whole hour long. imma die.
kawaii dake ja nai shikimori-san (4/10) [DROPPED]
idk what i was expecting, but definitely not this. the protagonist (whose name i forgot, that's how relevant he is) has no personality whatsoever besides being a weak ass bitch who depends on his mother babysitter girlfriend, shikimori who isn't just a cutie but also a badass... kind of. they have no chemistry, the secondary characters i couldn't care less, blah blah blah. each episode felt like it was an hour long and honestly, there's a limit to self-hatred. wouldn't recommend at all, unless you wanna hate-watch or something, idk.
koi wa sekai seifuku no ato de (6.5/10)
loveable characters and also, pretty cute couple. the art somehow reminds me of 2010's deviantart. i didn't find it as enjoyable as other shows on this list, although i would still recommend it if you're looking for something new.
komi-san wa, komyushou desu. 2 (6/10)
this entire show is the embodyment of a six. i prefer this season over the first one because 1) the main relationship gets more development and 2) there're some secondary characters here that i actually find fun and would like to befriend. tadano is the best character and i fully believe in osana supremacy.

because i always give chances to sports anime, idk why. this is mediocricy: the series. mediocre story, mediocre characters, i guess the animation is fine? heard ryman's club wipes the floor with this and honestly, i choose to believe that. yusa could've been a good character, but was wasted being a one-dimentional asshole who is a prodigy just because and has so much ego he has been called to participate in blue lock. anyway.
otomege sekai wa mob ni kibishii sekai desu (5/10)
i was curious about the premise, but it ended up being a boring power fantasy anime. idk what i was expecting honestly. i know there're good isekais out there, i just haven't found them yet. the girlies like the protagonist because... he's a sadistic asshole, maybe? they also agree on sharing him, like he's some sort of dress that fits both of them. the animation is... something. nice op tho.
paripi koumei (8/10)
yes. YES. YES. i absolutely adore this one! each episode felt as it was five minutes long, the songs are bangers, the characters are amazing, it's just perfect! if you haven't watch it yet, what are you waiting for?? eiko is an absolute fave and kabe kills it everytime.
shokei shoujo no virgin road (5/10) [DROPPED]
honestly, i don't remember much of it besides there being yuri in it, and time manipulation. dropped it because it got boring.
SPY×FAMILY (8.5/10)
i love her. same as paripi koumei, each episode feels like it's five minutes long. the characters are amazing, the animation is wow, it's funny, endearing, loveable and specially unforgetable. i could describe my feelings for each and every character, but it would take me so long. the op and ed are absolute bangers, future rewatch. already hyped for the second cour!
tomodachi game (7/10)
don't you love your friends? because i love mines, they're beautiful people. i know they're loyal, that they would never lie or hide things from me, and most importantly; not even one of them would ever involve me in some sort of sick game like tomodachi game. you can't trust anyone in this show, and i like that. cmon, gimme some good trust issues! yuuichi is... he should be studied, for real.
vampire in the garden (6/10)
the definition of mid. it's setting placed in russia during a war and honestly, i'm into it. now, the show is boring, i couldn't connect with the characters. it's not like i was falling asleep, but still. could've been better, but she wasn't. couldn't care less about what happened to them, and wouldn't rewatch.

can you recommend me some of your favorite book of nile fics?
CAN I. Anon, I have read every single fic in the AO3 Booker/Nile tag with the exception of a handful that will trigger me. I read my faves over and over again. We're currently at 303 works in the tag, and a handful of them are Joe/Nicky fics with "if you squint" BoN (I still read them, I can't help myself) but the vast majority of them are AMAZING. Fandom is full of kind and talented people, holy shit.
if you want a slow burn — you're in luck because this ship SPECIALIZES in slow burn!
First, the triumvirate of Book of Nile Classics. These were the first long fics for this ship and they're all so unique given they share basically the exact same premise, that Nile and Booker get to know each other slowly through run-ins spread out over years of his exile.
Five Times Booker Broke His Exile and the One Time He Did Not by @sphinx81: The one where they keep running into each other on ops, with the angsty middle chapter where Booker gets deep in his self-hate and calls Nile a clueless child and Nile reasonably tells him to go fuck himself and doesn't speak to him for years.
everywhere on earth you go (you're gonna have me) by nondz (pinkjook): The one with the buddy system. This is the only BoN fic that has a podfic as far as I'm aware! You can listen to it over and over and over again! The reader's voice is so soothing! [Podfic] everywhere on earth you go (you're gonna have me) by sallysparrow017
The Last Man on Earth by Survivah: The one where Booker doesn't show up in London when his exile's up, so Nile tracks him down, they get stuck in a broken elevator, and she gives him a medium sell.
Any Port in Storm by CypressSunn: Nile gives up her evac spot so a dad with kids can escape a blizzard that's on its way in rural Canada, and Booker stays behind with her, because Nile may know her shit about surviving in the desert but she doesn't know anywhere near what Booker knows about freezing to death. If you really want to up the angst on this one, first read a mausoleum fit for me by @spectralarchers for (a really interesting take on Booker's mortal life and) a visceral, detailed exploration of exactly how shitty Booker's experience was of starving and freezing on the Russian campaign.
If everything I do has got a hole in it (then everything you do has got a hold on me) by AnnieTheMouse: Nile will take over for Andy, but not just yet. First she's gonna be a little irresponsible, enjoy herself a little bit, sow her wild oats. If one of her hookups happens to also be fucking Booker, what about it?
Part of the Union by GlassRose: This is a newer take on the Book of Nile Classics genre where Nile and Booker run into each other over the years. Best friends to lovers, facilitated by a Team Baby union contract. Featuring stunning art by albymangroves, my absolute favorite fanartist from Captain America fandom.
Bring the World Back Into Tune by @mprosperossprite: Technically an AU, but 2 Old 2 Guard will make AUs of all of these, right? Hades and Persephone magical realism elements on top of a gorgeous, nuanced analysis of what it means, in practice, in such a complicated and fucked-up world, to "do what we think is right". Star-crossed, spanning years and continents, lives not permanently ruined but much blood shed. (Hi I originally joined Tumblr because of the Veronica Mars movie anybody else see the Logan/Veronica parallels??)
Announcing Your Place in the World of Things by @mprosperossprite: The soulmate goose AU. Yeah you read that right! I'm putting this here and not in the AU category because it's my list and I make the rules. Some people have soulmates, and those people get a daemon-type friend who's a goose so your goose can lead you to your soulmate. This closely follows movie canon and answers questions like, what if our elderly friends had soulmate geese with them in Goussainville? (Mouse over the author's username and peep her icon! Look how sweet chibi-Nile is with her soulmate goose Tigris! Look, anon, look!!)
Wish You Were Here by @aimmyarrowshigh: The latest entry in the Book of Nile Classics genre, this time starting with a postcard. Part I is up now and Part II is coming soon. Bookmark for later if you want a satisfying ending, or go read it right now if you want a deliciously WHAT emotional cliffhanger. (It's so good! I recommend it! Also waaaaaaaaaaaaaaah c'mon you're gonna leave us hanging on THAT??)
I'm also gonna include my own here, because I'm really proud of it and whatever it's my list: I See Your Eyes Seek a Distant Shore. Nile becomes the guard's leader, moves to London on her own to adjust to immortal life, develops a long-term plan for how exactly they're going to do what they think is right, and gets a shit ton of emotional support from the guard and Copley and several OCs and a certain exiled Frenchman who's dealing with his shit by getting a PhD in trauma studies. Check it out if you like politics and long footnotes and porn with feelings!

The Beautiful Game by @victimhood: Elite footballers AU! This fic lives in my head rent-free to the extent that I have headcanons about the in-universe RPF fandom for these characters. Nile is a USWNT and Barça champion who had to retire early due to a worsening chronic illness, and she moves to Milan for a sportscasting job just as a new player gets traded from Copley's Liverpool to Andy's Inter Milan. How will Booker mesh with his new teammates, especially the team captain with the murder eyes? How will Nile rebuild her life after having to stop playing the game she loves? And why does Yooker keep trending on social media??
if you do take a thief by @morallygreywaren: Clue(do) AU! Six strangers (or are they?) are blackmailed into a dinner party. This fic masterfully gives equal airtime to all 3 ships in the middle of a damn murder mystery, and NILE'S DAD IS ALIVE IN THIS ONE, I REPEAT, NILE'S DAD IS ALIVE. And the author has a follow-up planned!
A General Librarian by @sweetlyenchains: Booker and his sons live in a magical manor house with a sentient library. Nile is a retired general who agrees to marry a widower sight unseen for *handwave* reasons, and she's not thrilled to be some old man's wife but it'll be fine. And then she meets the library. And then she meets its caretaker.
Les Petits Monstres by @winterequinoxx: The original gym AU. Nile gets to know the single dad of her adorable tiny martial arts students. The cutest of kid fics and the source of widely-used fanon for Jean Pierre's brothers' names.
Rhymes with Shook Her by @lady-writes: Booker the Happy Hooker! Nile's a stressed grad student who books a sex worker to get her out of her head, and you'll never guess what happens next 😏😏
The Kids Are All Right by @takethisnight-wrapitaroundme: The teachers AU where the students gossip incessantly about the English teacher's painfully obvious years-long crush on Ms. Freeman, and a fateful school dance where a last-minute chaperone switch-out and a teenager's smartphone change everything.
Geborgen by liadan14: Nile is sent by the CIA to take in a priority target. She makes a different call. This is a BoN-focused continuation of a primarily Joe/Nicky series that gives lovely attention to all 3 main pairings over the course of the series. Most of the commenters are there seemingly exclusively for the Joe/Nicky, and the author seems to really appreciate love for the BoN sections, so consider giving some BoN-specific love! Political and angsty and mysterious and hopeful and SO FUCKING HOT.
Cross Promotion by @rileywrites: The YouTubers AU! Slowest of slow burns. Work in progress with slow updates recently, but if the author never returns to this I think the latest chapter still makes for a very satisfying ending-ish thing.
For I Am Bound and You Are Free by EnglishAsSheIsSpoke: Selkie AU. In an alternate timeline with different countries and wars, Nile moves to a remote Scottish island in the early 1900s and joins the found family who maintains the lighthouse.

LwD 1.08, “Veritas”
aka GIANT SPOCK IS CANON, or: “Today didn’t have to end in eels!”
Line-for-line, this might have been the funniest episode yet. It moved even faster than “Terminal Provocations” but felt like it had twice as many jokes packed in, and holy fuck were those jokes landing for me.
(Obligatory gorgeous planet shot. It’s a little anachronistic to me to see that font used for a location chyron—those weren’t really a mainstream thing on TV before The X-Files, and while I remember them on VOY and maybe even DS9, I think TNG was too early for them—so we’ve never actually seen it used like this before!)
Anyway, I loved the way this one switched up the usual LwD format of “sitcom A-plot + sitcom B-plot + entire A-plot of a TNG episode C-plot”—though I was slightly disappointed at first that it wasn’t the Rashomon-style story I thought it was shaping up to be, I didn’t really have time to dwell on that because then we were off to the RACES.
Seriously, the jokes in this one:
The execution of the bit with the Red Alert happening everywhere except their repair bay? With the almost-subconscious setup of the klaxon quietly fading in and back out of the background SFX as the doors whoosh open and closed? While you’re still supposed to be paying attention to Mariner and Boimler arguing in the foreground? And then Jack Quaid’s delivery of Boimler’s exasperated “Rutherford!”? That whole scene was just *chef’s kiss*
Mariner doesn’t want to get kicked out of Starfleet because then she’d have to live on Earth, “where there’s nothing to do except drink wine and hang out at vineyards and soul food restaurants.” If she doesn’t want to, I will definitely take her spot.
SAMANTHAN RUTHERFORD. Still not over it.
His “rebooting” into increasingly bizarre situations with absolutely no context (“Updating Klingon fonts!” “Why do I even need tha—” *thud*) reminded me a little of the Futurama episode “Time Keeps on Slipping,” and I always like being reminded of that episode.
GORN WEDDING! (Some really fetching dresses in that scene, tbh #notascalie)
Ransom mistaking Tendi for a special-ops “cleaner” (when she was just there to sticky-roll Dr. T’Ana’s fur off the chairs, another screaming-into-my-hands moment) was comedy gold-pressed latinum. Also, I’ve decided she has no martial arts training, she’s just that good under pressure and that afraid of failure (and, obviously, still in good shape from the Academy).
Okay so my personal tastes re: bleeping regular swear words in normal dialogue are that it’s sometimes funny, sometimes just distracting—I’m getting used to it on this show, though—but that’s different from using super accurate, ultra nostalgic LCARS beeps to “censor” classified information—hilariously poorly—which is a classic trope that gets me every time. Ransom’s final “There’s no indication that the Rom... (beat) ... (bleep!) ... (beat) ...ulan High Council detected us” had me scream-laughing into my hands.
“You know who I hate? Remans.” “Oh, they’re the worrrst.”
I was expecting a whole episode about Q, but this was about the perfect amount of him w/r/t Lower Decks—and Mariner just blowing him off was easily on par with Sisko punching him out, omfg
Come on, a soccer game (with a singing ball) against anthropomorphic playing cards, on a chess board, which is actually a puzzle, that they have to solve to prove humanity’s worth, except really Q is just fucking with them—that’s straight out of a Peter David novel and I was living for it. What more do you need?
Boimler giving a rousing This! Is! Starfleet! speech—and then ending it by shouting “Drumhead!” and mic-dropping the Horn of Candor—was such a perfect microcosm of this stupid, stupendous show :D
“Creepy? This is one of our nicest Event Silos! I got married here!”
And now for some prop talk! The phaser rifles that Ransom and Tendi and [REDACTED] were carrying look like they’re of a design lineage with the ones we saw on VOY (and then late-period DS9), with the angles and proportions “modernized,” in a way the others feel distinctly of-the-90’s now, and that’s such a nice subtle touch—I love how much attention LwD pays to whatever “set dressing” is called in animation.
I was going to get into a whole Thing there, about how phasers were “de-militarized” in design for TNG, and how they’ve since regressed to resemble IRL firearms—RIP the tome of Star Trek essays in my head nobody will ever pay me to write—but honestly? I’m just delighted that this show is making me think so hard about Star Trek As A Concept. I literally feel like a kid again.
TNG and DS9 left me so hungry for post–Dominion War worldbuilding, and then VOY fucked off to the Delta Quadrant, and then ENT fucked off to prequels and the franchise got stuck there for 20 years… and sure, in my heart of hearts I sometimes wish this show had maybe 15% more chill—which is just because I’m getting old—but in so many other important ways, it feels like coming home <3
Oh, and this week’s “Am I actually, literally Beckett Mariner?” moment was when she didn’t care about classified information because “knowing things means more work.” If that’s not me filtering emails at my day job...
Next week: A holodeck hijinks episode, but it looks more VOY-style holo-hijinks than TNG-style—which is basically trashy cable movies vs. PBS, so fuckin’ sign me up.

Pokemon Mystery Dungeon DX Demo thoughts and observations
man, talk about a title!
Okay, this includes my first impressions of the free Demo, such as gameplay, graphics, and my personal opinions on things!
first of all wow, it went on much longer than I anticipated. I was expecting it to stop after we rescued Caterpie. Not so! And a cliffhanger (kind of. it's not like I don't know what happens) ending point too! It stops right before the Diglett rescue. About an hour and a half of gameplay, though that could change depending on how fast / slow you play through it of course.
this isn't anything important but when I tell yall I almost started crying when the menu music swelled up I am being 1000% sincere
When the quiz started up I realized just how faithful to OG games this was going to be. Dialogue is nearly, if not, identical.
everything about the UI is BEAUTIFUL. the rainbow bg. the text select. the sparkling hover over the pokemon you're choosing. UGH<3
I am glad for the implementation of the newer ability to chose what mon you want to play as if the quiz's selection doesnt satisfy you. its the best of both worlds and I feel leaving that out would have been a step backwards.
have i mentioned this game is fucking beautiful??
seriously. it takes some getting used to, but the throwback style art backgrounds and the textured + glow-y sprites work SO. WELL. imo (much better than the completely modern look of the last few games, if i'm being totally honest)
okay, now gameplay. -
we get a mix of old classic stuff and newer features/implementations plus some brand new stuff
basic attack is gone, which is whatever, but it'll take a bit of getting used to
move leveling up is back from super, which means starter movesets are busted lol
hunger is in! and seems to go down fairly quickly tbh
I GOT POISONED AND HOLY FUCK, POISON TAKES 40 DAMAGE EVERY 30 SECONDS OR SO. WHAT THE FUCK THATS LIKE ALMOST ALL OF MY HEALTH RN
frustratingly, the ability to turn where you face in one spot seems to be gone? which is kind of, really important. though i outta point out that if you default move - mine is ember for example - it points you at the enemy. sooo idk. maybe im missing something here but it doesnt seem to be in the controls/options (i looked)
aand theres talking bubbles now? cute in concept but pretty annoying implementation. when you or your partner use a move a little speech bubble appears above you with some flavor text. the result is that the screen looks crowded during battle. not a fan, though i guess i could get used to it. better yet, let us turn it off. (i did not find a setting to do so)

you can see all enemies and items on the floor map.. before you see them yourself. not sure if i like this. seems a bit broken if im being honest. ofc, its not as though you know WHO the enemy is or WHAT the items are, or, necessarily, HOW TO GET TO THEM without looking yourself but, still.
moving on from gameplay-

theres a portal between your house/base and the job board which is cool! i prefer going through the town anyway but still useful
this isnt important at all but HNG KANGASKAN<333 I LOVE HER. IM JUST, EXTRA GRATEFUL FOR HER EVER SINCE.. SOME GAMES REMOVED HER. also her sprite blinks her eyes open or closed to match her talking icon which i thought was really good attention to detail
aaand thats all i have for now!! to conclude, i am ENORMOUSLY excited for this game. it looks absolutely gorgeous and is such a tribute to the original ones. march 6th here we come!!!

Anime of the Decade 2019
Alright, now we start breaking down this current year. There was a fuck-ton of anime that I watched and to get this done on time and without going crazy I can only highlight some of my favorites, but it was a damn good year. Lets get into it!
Winter:
Dororo - This is a remake of an incomplete anime series from the late 60s. And besides this show having an absolute banger of an OP and ED, it has some gorgeous art and a story full of heart and ambition. Party is over.
The Promised Neverland - Definitely the suprise show of the season for me. I hadn’t read into the manga and was fortunate to not have been spoiled on anything going into it and that was definitely for the best. For a show based on suspense and mystery, keeping the thriller aspect is of absolute importance. This show was absolutely spectacular.
Kaguya-Sama: Love is War - Oh man, this show was so much fun. Just so much fun from start to finish. The mind games, the banter, the character interactions are all so entertaining. There’s a surprise ED too that is too adorable to even describe.
Mob Psycho 100 S2 - Ok, so this is my AOTS and a strong contender for AOTY. This second season takes everything we loved about the first season and cranks that up to 15 and then they have the absolute gall to throw in some super strong character growth as well! And as if that wasn’t enough, there were multiple EPISODES this season that had some absolutely mind-blowing animation.
Spring:
One Punch Man S2 - Oh man oh man, I so wish this had kept everything the same from a production standpoint as the first season. This story is arguably slightly more interesting than the first season, and this could definitely have benefited from a 2 cour airing. And nothing has been able to top that season 1 ending fight and animation. This was a troubled season, and I hope if there’s another one that the production will be able to keep up with everything.
Demon Slayer - This was such a great surprise of a show. I hadn’t heard about it or anything about it before starting and I was quite pleasantly surprised. One of the best new shounen shows of the last few years.
Attack on Titan S3 Part 2 - And here is my AOTS. This second part of season 3 is just everything good about Attack on Titan PLUS... FINALLY! THE basement reveal!!! This is the building culmination of years of waiting and dozens of episodes and it is truly great.
Isekai Quartet - Talk about the biggest surprise of the season, this show came completely out of left field. It’s an isekai show about 4 isekais. Like, this show is so fucking meta it’s insane. Also everyone is chibi, even Ainz. And there’s going to be a season 2 and they’re adding Shield Hero to the case. Truly insane.
Carole & Tuesday - I really wish I could give this my AOTS, that’s how much I love this show. Particularly this first half. It’s basically a 90′s show that somehow got missed and is now being made and that still feels like it belongs. This is really an anime that’s a love letter to music and it succeeds wholly.
Summer:
Dr. Stone - This is my AOTS. I absolutely adore this show. This season there were a LOT of shows that aired on Fridays and this was the first one I watched every single time. Humanity has been petrified for over 2500 years and this story follows Senku a science obsessed high school student who decides to recreate the entirety of scientific evolution in record time. Bill Nye meets prehistoric era shounen series. What an awesome idea, and I absolutely love it.
Fire Force - Fire Force is like a love letter to fire animation. The only thing that holds this show back is some completely unnecessary, ill-timed, and ill-executed fanservice with a particular character. It really feels like a block that keeps me from wholeheartedly reccommending it to people, but besides this it’s an absolute treat for the eyes.
DanMachi S2 - Wooooo season 2! AND we’re getting a season 3 and a MOVIE!!
Vinland Saga - Holy shit, this show is beautiful. SO good.
Fall:
My Hero Academia S4 - Hell yeah, more HeroAca. This first part of season 4 has been a slow-burner, so we’ll have to see what the rest of the season has in store for us next year.
Welcome to Demon School, Iruma-kun - This is such a charming show. It’s got all the appeal of the fun shows of the 2000s and reminds me of a less ecchi Rosario Vampire. And it is absolutely worth checking out.
Vinland Saga (second cour) - I’m going to cheat a bit and include this in my fall selection. It is a 2 cour show, but the second part of the season is almost drastically better than the first part and I thought the first part was a solid 10/10. This takes it up to another level both in the visuals and the story and characters. Definitely my AOTS.
Alright, so we have Mob Psycho 100 S2, Attack on Titan S3 Part 2, Dr. Stone and Vinland Saga. I am having some legitimate struggles right now. Dr. Stone wins on straight entertainment value, Mob wins on character growth and animation, AoT wins on payoff and action, and Vinland Saga wins on beauty and story and characters. I think it all comes down to Vinland Saga as AOTY, but damn that’s a hard choice.

It doesn’t go so well the first time.
All right, it doesn’t go well at all.
It’s not as if it was the first time for either of them, by any means; over the years, Bucky’s had enough to fill a stadium--sometimes by duty, not choice--and Tony, well… He worked hard for his reputation, back in the day, and even though it’s been a while since his bed saw anything headline-worthy, the metaphorical notches on his bedpost don’t lie. Alphas are usually the ones who preen over their scoreboards, as it were, but then Tony’s always made a point of thumbing his nose at convention, especially other people’s morays, so why not have a go at biology and the social construction of sex, eh? Besides, back in the day, it really pissed people off to see an omega act like a slut (their word, not Tony’s)--which has always been Tony’s favorite incentive; he’s spent his life making outrage an art.
So they’d both danced the mambo before, is the point, many, many damn times, and it’s understandable, then, why they thought having a go at each other in bed would be a simple if mutually delightful exercise.
Imagine their surprise when it wasn't.

In the end, he’d behaved himself and hired Bucky because he was the best fit, not the hottest, but that gorgeous tension he’d felt the first time they shook hands--without gloves, because Tony was old enough to make his own dumb decisions, thanks, and that’s just how he rolls--the thing that had made Bucky’s nose flare and those ridiculously blue eyes sweep up to his slow (cue the music), it continued to linger, to keep Tony up at night in the nicest possible way. And sometimes, when he managed to sneak a peek at Bucky in a meeting or on the plane or in the back of the car at night when Jarvis was taking the long way home, he imagined that he’d catch that look again, Bucky’s, like he had that first day: a look that said I see you, omega; a look that said I want you; a look that said And I mean to have you, someday.
Never mind that Bucky was 30some and stunning, a magazine model of an alpha walking through the world in real life, while Tony was inching past 50, a little longer in the tooth, gray hair fighting black and skinnier than he’d been back in the day. Bucky was muscle, Bucky was fine, and Tony had always been handsome, that he could still hang his hat on, but he wasn’t the picture of omega twink all the kids seemed to go for these days, that’s for sure. When he was young and dumb, that had worked for him, being different; he loved being everybody’s flavor of the month. But now that he was older and slightly more wise, the pictures on the newstand, on the TV, of good-looking and scantily-dressed omegas stuck with him more than they should have; anyway, now that he was of a distinctly different demographic, they were a lot harder to ignore.
Loneliness, though, had its privileges, and one of those were the hours between lights out and dawn when he could imagine Bucky beside him, those strong, scarred hands stroking his chest; that soft, pursed mouth on his neck, on his nipples, turning up in a chuckle as Tony shivered and rocked.
That Bucky might really want him didn’t seem quite so impossible, in the dark.
Fast forward then to that night, this one, when Bucky had come up to the penthouse late bearing plans for the trip to Rio that couldn’t wait and they’d ended up like this, naked and greedy in Tony’s bed, Tony wrung dry twice already (fuck that, over 50) and Bucky growling (or he had been), biting at Tony’s neck and promising more.
Except something had changed once he’d given Tony his cock, once he’d spread apart Tony’s knees and damn well mounted him and shoved that big, beautiful dick up inside.
Now, his face is shuttered, his eyes dim. It’s as if a curtain’s been drawn. Oh, he’s still hard, still poised to give Tony the fuck of his life. But something’s wrong; Tony can feel it, smell it, see it when Bucky looks down at him at last.
“Nothing’s wrong,” he croaks. God, he sounds like he’s on the verge of tears. “Not for me, Tone. Want me to stop?”
Tony’s whole body curls at the words, almost like a command: hold him in don't let him go. Stop? Now? Oh, hell no.
He tries to say that but at that comes out is a groan, like something supernatural, a ghost welling up and out of his throat, and with that, Bucky’s hips shove and he cries out and then the bed is shaking, quaking, as Tony throws his head back and holds on for dear fucking life.
And it's good. Oh, fuck is it ever. Coming with Bucky groaning in his ear is Tony's new favorite kink.
But after, when Bucky’s tied in and pulsing steadily into the condom, the smell’s wrong, something in the air is; as good as Tony’s idiot body feels, something, his gut tells him, is seriously wrong.
“Bucky,” he murmurs. They’re on their sides now, face to face, Bucky’s hands folded around Tony’s ass, keeping himself mounted firmly inside. “What’s the matter?”
“Shhhh,” Bucky says. He kisses the sound in Tony’s mouth once, and then twice. “Everything’s fine.”
Yeah, but it’s not, though, Tony wants to say, means to, but the hormones flooding his system are a lot and it’s been a decade since he’s come three times in one night and he’s tired, exquisitely so, the sort of tired that only comes when he’s been fucked like this, used and bred and filled and never mind the condom, the small but pertinent fact that Bucky isn’t his mate; in the moment, as Bucky keeps coming, keeps whimpering, a small, desperate noise at the back of his throat, Tony’s idiot body doesn’t know any better. All it knows is that he’s full and he’s made an alpha happy and it’s not so far a leap, is it, to believe that all that warmth, all those sweet, sticky feelings his pheromones are feeling mean that he’s safe and he’s loved and that Bucky--beautiful, wounded Bucky who’s seen shit that Tony can’t bring himself to imagine--will stay there with him, in him, always.
In the stale light of morning, though, Bucky’s gone, and that odd smell of something unsettled lingers, deepens. It’s louder than the smell of Bucky’s come. He’d spilled some on the bed, Tony remembers vaguely, when he’d finally drawn himself out and peeled back the condom and--
“Holy shit,” Tony had said, sleepy, tottering on the edge of good sense. “You always give it up like that? Fuck. I’m surprised the damn thing didn’t break.”
Bucky hadn’t looked at him. Had kept his eyes on the weight of the condom, the bulging, wet stretch. Said: “Been awhile for me, that’s all.”
“Mmmm, hurry up and get rid of it.” Tony had stretched out his leg, nudged Bucky’s back with his calf. “Need you back.”
“Can’t. I have Ops in two hours.”
“You can sleep here, alpha.”
Bucky had turned back to face Tony, the condom shaking in his hand, and they’d both heard the seed spill on the sheets, smelled it. Which had only, apparently, made matters worse.
“I have to go.” The words gruff, abrupt. The bed shaking as Bucky shot up. “I’m sorry.”
“No,” Tony had said, remembers saying. “You know what, Buck? I don’t think you are. Not one damn little bit.”
Bucky stood up, a long line in the shadows. “Think what you want.”
And that was it, poof; condom in the trash and clothes gathered and not so much as a kiss goodbye.
“Your briefing’s at two today,” Bucky had said at the door. “I’ll have the Rio options we talked about drawn up for you to review.”
“Fine.” He’d sounded hurt because he was, damn it; saw no reason to hide it. He deserved better than a fuck-and-run. Didn't he?
Bucky had lingered for a moment. “Tony," he said finally. It sounded like a question.
“What?”
He heard Bucky take a deep breath. “Forget it. It's nothing. I'll see you this afternoon. Goodbye."
Now, sitting up alone in the light a few hours later, the sheets stink of Bucky, the whole room does: the pillows, the covers, Tony’s skin--they all reek of alpha, and if he weren’t so fucking old, if Bucky hadn’t drained him dry, he’d be hard again, Tony thinks; he’d be rutting into the sheets, acting like a teenager the morning after they took their first knot.
But he has years on him now, miles, experience, and his dick isn’t ready for that trick. Plus, it just makes him sad, because what lingers too is the sense that something he didn’t understand had gone sideways, very very wrong, and what it was and why it shut Bucky down, he has no goddamn clue. Not at all.
So it’s good that he’d old, he tells himself as he pads towards the shower. Never mind that his ass aches and his back’s strained and that there are bruises on his hips, big ones, from the power of Bucky’s flesh and metal hands. But then, to be fair, how would you tell a guy that you slept with but also signs your paychecks that, oops, sorry, turns out that you think he’s ideal mate, that you came two shakes from claiming him without his consent, that it took everything you had in the tank not to hold him down on your dick and bite your desire into his the soft skin of his neck until he was yours, period full stop, whether he liked it or not?
He should have pulled out, Bucky thinks miserably, gnawing on the end of his pen. No, he shouldn’t have kissed the man in the first place. But he’d looked so unspun, Tony had; tie off and shirt open, the gray and black hair underneath. And his smell--god, Tony always smelled good, but ensconced at home, in his own sacred space, his ease and contentment had made the air ache from the smell of spring, of blooming flowers and green cut grass and when he’d smiled at Bucky, smiled and patted his knee and tried to hand him a drink, Bucky had taken the glass and shoved it at the table and reached for Tony, at last, instead.
Since the first day they'd met, he'd wanted to do that: to stretch his arms across the table or the aisle or the seat and tug Tony against him, nuzzle the sharp gray turn of Tony's beard, lick the pale stretch of his neck. Even during his interview, all he could think about was what Tony would look with his back on the desk and his pants down, his face writhing as Bucky stroked his fingers inside. And then Tony had shaken his hand at the end, palm to palm, and he'd gotten so hard in the elevator he'd had to find a bathroom before he made it to the car and worked one out into his palm. A lot of people have mentioned that in the tags/under the post and that makes me!!! super happy!!!! Good Omens is one of my fav books and Crowley one of my fav characters, so the comment feels nice! I wasn’t specifically thinking about them when drawing it, but possibly a bit I was influenced anyway!! I wonder if what made everyone think about them was Kiri’s sunglasses? It’s not noticeable but I did give him glowing eyes too after all haha

Never thought of it tbh, but at this point I’m pretty sure with a lot of work on Baku’s part they’d be able to stick together long enough! He wouldn’t find it comfortable but they’d def be one of the strongest three-people-fusions in the class - not the strongest, tho, since they all have the same sort of straightforward offensive power when it comes to their quirks, I think I could find three people who’d make a stronger fusion... Baku Kiri and Momo, for example, would be even more impressive imho! Since all their quirks cover a different field, and their minds/personalities mesh well enough to have the right amount of planning and instinctive reaction/self-preservation and safety of others/pride and self-doubt/lawfulness and chaotic acting and so on. Even just as a team, without counting them as a fusion, I think they’d make one of the most balanced ones! Compared to that putting Todo Deku and Baku in the same place is just a recipe for disaster more often than not haha

HECK anon sorry but nothing like this would happen ever as long as I’m the one writing the AU! For three main reasons! One, I don’t think Deku is traumatized at all! His relationship with Baku at the moment is actually pretty damn neat and on equal footing, you go you two, growing so much!! Two, Baku and Todo are friends!!! And Todo would never be a dick to Baku instead of just talking to him, if he had a problem with him!! Three, even if one and two weren’t true, Deku has no need for knights in shining armor fighting his battles for him!! He’s a strong independent boy and if he hasn’t fought Baku over this it’s probs cause he doesn’t want anyone to fight him over it!!! Also in this specific AU Todo and Deku aren’t dating, so the scenario doesn’t work for me! Sorry!

Yes I can and yes I will!!! Definitely and in the near future, did you know one of the app games JUST revealed a fantasy wolf Baku as a special halloween chara?? It’s just fantasy Baku with wolf ears and tail, but he’s adorable and I’ve been wanting to draw him since I saw him this morning ;O; so cute!

Kaminari is like, he’s always somewhere subconsciously known that Baku’s objectively pretty, but since he knows him so well and he’s always around him and most of the times they’re bickering and making fun of each other he’s never actually realized, so now he’s like oh, NOW I see it hahaha

I’m not gonna draw any other switch with other students, because before settling on Baku and Todo I went through a lot of possibilities and came to the conclusion that nothing would be as funny as Baku and Todo switched are (or at least nothing Horikoshi hasn’t already done himself lmao) so there’s that. I might draw more of them switched, but to be honest with you the only idea with that concept I have right now is Bakugou forgetting he’s suddenly taller and continuously walking into things around the dorms, so there’s that as well hahaha

So,
It took me five minutes to reach the bottom of Niles’ driveway.
There were no addresses along this particular stretch of the Slocan Valley, so I’d been following a set of directions he sent via Facebook that included line items like “turn right after you pass the green barn” and “take the left fork after the fallen tree”. The light was beginning to dwindle on this breezy Friday afternoon, and I found myself navigating sharp switch-backs and rattling down intense inclines, trusting my RAV to keep us from sliding into the woods.
When I finally broke out into the sunlight I was presented with a gorgeous tableau: a small farmhouse with a wrap-around deck silhouetted against the harsh glint of the river, with lush green fields stretching in either direction. A trio of small children were playing with a dog in the front yard, and when they spotted my RAV they ran alongside it screaming. They crowded at my driver’s door when I climbed out, excitedly introducing themselves. Behind them the dog leaped and barked, trying to get in on the action.
“Okay, niños! Vamanos! Our friend Will doesn’t need to hear all your screaming,” Niles said, appearing at the front door.
“Why don’t you take Brutus for a run? You’re making my ears hurt.”
Niles smiled apologetically as the kids took off. He was wearing a floral shirt unbuttoned to the navel, tucked into a pair of white jeans, and his heavy silver necklaces bounced against his sunburnt chest. He blew a long hank of blond hair out of his face and beckoned for me to follow him inside, padding up the main staircase in his bare feet. I gazed around, checking out the framed family photos, and kicked off my Blundstones. I’d run into Niles a few times since meeting him at the party, but had no idea he had such a big family. There were at least four kids in the photos, and a blond woman who looked like she taught Jazzercise.
“Funny, Brutus seems to be everywhere,” I said. “Must be a popular dog.”
“He belongs to my son.”
“Who, Snapper? He’s your son?”
He smiled, then shrugged. “We don’t get to choose our own blood in this life, unfortunately. Can I get you a beer?”
“I never would’ve guessed,” I said, as he handed it over. “You guys don’t look alike at all, not even one bit.”
“I’ve heard that before.”
He gave me a quick tour of the house, which had an incense-heavy fug. There were wood carvings in nearly every room, sculptures of various animals, and each wall was crowded with art. One piece in particular stood out to me, a landscape painting with a rock jutting over a highway. I recognized it from somewhere, and stopped for a moment to try and figure it out. I’d seen this exact scene somewhere, but where?
“Ah, that’s a John Cooper,” he said. “He’s from around here, actually, taught for decades. He’s known as the Toad Rock painter, and that’s Toad Rock. Apparently there’s hundreds of them, but this one’s mine.”
“This is on the way to Kaslo, right?”
“Exactly.”
“I love the colours. I should write a story about this guy.”
“Yes, you should.”
Eventually we made it down to his dock, where a pair of bright red Adirondack chairs were waiting for us. The river was slow-moving here, slipping by with a soft burble as the evening quieted. There were no other human habitations in sight, though we could hear the occasional thrum of a car rocketing past in the distance, and the trees slow-danced in the wind. The sky was just fading from a soft peach colour into a deeper orange. I’d been in the Kootenays for nine months but the surroundings still routinely overwhelmed me. I took a slug of my beer.
“In the summertime this river becomes an absolute magnet for the party crowd. They float down in inner tubes, or little blow-up boats. It’s quite a spectacle,” Niles said.
“I used to stand on the porch with my rifle, pretending to pick them off one by one. But my wife made me stop, said I’d end up getting arrested. No sense of humour, that woman.”
After a few minutes, Niles asked me about the Star. Unlike many of the people in the Kootenays, who only seemed to read our headlines before spewing their uninformed opinion online, he legitimately engaged with journalism and had an appreciation for the written word. I’d previously learned that he was a writer, and had even published a collection of short fiction in the 1980s. But he’d given up those dreams long ago to focus on growing weed and raising a family, a decision he seemed to regret. Repeatedly he’d asked me whether I would work with him on various manuscripts he’d half-completed, and I’d agreed to take him on as a student through my writing mentorship service.
“The big thing is this Ryan Tapp story. It’s actually been keeping me up. I couldn’t sleep properly all this week,” I told him.
“I keep thinking ‘what if it was me?’ This guy’s my age, friends with my friends. Now that the cops have ruled it a suicide it’s like nobody’s allowed to ask questions anymore, and I have all these fucking questions.”
Niles nodded. “I asked around a bit.”
“Yeah?”
“Yeah, I don’t know either. From the sounds of it he wasn’t beefing with anyone obvious, at least not local. The guy had a lot of business connections, a lot of irons in the fire, but I’m not getting the sense he was in bed with anybody shady. If I were a betting man, I’d say it was the jealous girlfriend wanting to teach him a lesson.”
“What makes you say that?”
He smiled. “A few friends of mine went to his funeral at the Royal, right? Well, it turns out multiple women showed up believing themselves to be the sole significant other of Mr. Tapp.”
“Holy shit.”
“From what I heard, one of them went up to the front and began reading this very tearful love letter, and meanwhile the other women were in the audience absolutely losing their shit. Cat fight!”
“It just seems so weird, a woman killing someone like that.”
“Women in the Kootenays are fucked, believe me. If you’re saying a woman isn’t capable of violence like that, then I have a bridge to sell you. There’s a saying in these parts you have to live by: ‘don’t stick your dick in crazy’.”
By this point I’d witnessed firsthand not only the quirky and strange people who populated Nelson’s streets, but the legitimately unhinged ones too. Paisley had made friends with one woman in particular, a business owner and mother, who turned out to be hopelessly addicted to a menu of pharmaceuticals that was truly impressive. Down the street was a woman suffering from some sort of delusions, and one morning we spotted her doing yard work in her underwear. The bumper sticker said “Keep Nelson Weird”, as if it’s stockpile of weirdness was diminishing, but I knew the opposite to be true.
“Makes me glad I’ve already got a partner,” I said. “I don’t need to deal with any of that bullshit.”
“Oh yeah, where is she?”
“Visiting her parents in Nova Scotia for a week.”
“I bought one of her desserts at the Co-op the other day. It was fantastic. You’ll pass along my praise?”
As we were speaking, a quartet of women appeared from the trees and came tromping through the grass in our direction. They all wore overalls, white face masks pushed up to their foreheads, with dark green rubber gloves that climbed halfway up their arms. All of them were somewhere in their 20s, and pretty, though they looked haggard and dirty. They were giggling and chatting, obviously relieved to be finished a long shift. When they got close enough I recognized Blayne, who I hadn’t seen since her incident in the middle of winter. I half-stood, giving her an awkward wave, as Niles jumped to his feet and began to bark orders. He quickly got them sorted and they loped off to the main house before I could say anything. I was thrown off for a moment, flustered, but then Niles threw himself down in his chair.
“Remind me,” he said. “What were we talking about?”
