We like our Globes how we like our Rules—Golden (see also: Girls/Bachelors/Compasses/Ratios, etc.) Fortunately, last night saw The 81st Golden Globe Awards, honoring the crème de la crème in film and American television, and they did not disappoint. There were awards to be handed out, a wealth of tea to be spilled, and history to be made. There were also acceptance speeches to be read, and people to thank—unless, of course, in exceptional circumstances.
whoever was sleeping on the job approving that golden globes script was asking for trouble. it was the year of barbie and an insanely successful film concert and you had your host insulting the whole thing by reducing it to big boobies and male nfl butthurt? that was the best you had? REALLY?!
Congratulations to Danielle Brooks for her Golden Globes Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress in a Motion Picture (Musical or Comedy) in The Color Purple!
Angela Bassett wants 2024 to have less stress for herself but her Athena Grant and the whole 911 gang are sure as hell kicking our doors down on the 14th of March when they open with that damned cruise ship explosion on their new address.
(not that i’m complaining because fuck yeah! bring on the drama—gimme my Titanic Bathena moment! that door better fucking have room for two!)
Congratulations to Fantasia Barrino for her Golden Globes Award nomination for Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture (Musical or Comedy) in The Color Purple!
