🖤 Fit for The Godless Goddesses tour 🖤
Tumblr media
Bands Playing: Pom Pom Squad, PVRIS, Poppy
Mia from Pom Pom Squad was so cute when she was like "Yeah, PVRIS and Poppy are big inspirations for me... Also, they were my ex-girlfriend's favorite bands 😏"
Lynn from PVRIS had serious tboy swag.
While Poppy was playing, I remembered how I saw a post about how you should REALLY get earplugs for concerts and I immediately found a really good pair! But, then forgot to order them 💀💀
Also, I got compliments from two fellow queer people at the concert so the fit was a big success in my book 🥰
Oh!!!
Almost forgot!
My top has a back design

Rules: Tag 15 people you want to get to know better: Some of you I may already know, some of you I may not, but you’re all lovely and your answers will be too!
I was tagged by @vioisbillytoo
Thank you for putting me on here! You’re amazing!
Relationship Status: Happily engaged to my best friend.
Favourite Colours: Light Blue, Purple, and Green.
Lipstick or Chapstick: Chapstick all the way. I’m too absent-minded to not mess up my lipstick all day long. It never stays on for more than an hour. I wish I was better at wearing it though!
3 Favourite Foods: Oh wow…. I just kind of have a very loving relationship with food in general. Picking three will be difficult but I will do my best. Pizza is definitely a top contender. Cheese and bread are never wrong. Dal is another. For anyone who may not know Dal is an Indian dish made from a variety of lentils (My Mom makes the best Dal in the world). Thirdly I’m probably going to have to say gummies? I feel as if I need a sweet on here and I’m a candy fiend when it comes to anything chewy/sour.
Last Song I Listened To: The Suburbs – Arcade Fire
Last Movie I Watched: Blue Jay on Netflix. I recommend it to anyone in the mood for something thoughtful, or, you know, if you just feel like crying your eyes out.
Books I’m Currently Reading: I actually just finished the last book I was reading yesterday. Maggot Moon by Sally Gardner. Again, I would recommend this to anyone as well. Her use of language is so unique I couldn’t put the book down. Best thing I’ve read in a long time.
Last Thing I Googled: Dates for Vans Warped Tour. It’s the last one, so if you’re a punk fan and have the time/money you should totally try and make it to the closest show!!! Side Note – If you live in NY hit me up and we can all be show buddies at Darien Lake!
Height: I am 5’3”(5 foot 3 inches), 1.6002 in meters (At least that’s what Google told me).
Time: 2:20PM Eastern Time
Song Stuck In My Head: Direction – Mat Kerekes/Anthony Green
Dream Trip: I have so many places I would love to travel to. I guess the trip I’ve been day-dreaming about the most is being able to take a road-trip to Asheville, NC again. One of my favorite memories was having my parents come and visit me there a few years ago and I’ve wanted to go back ever since.
How Many Blankets Do You Sleep With: Two. A sheet and a comforter. Not too hot, not too cold.
What Are You Wearing: ….Jake from State Farm. Uhhhh…. Khakis. Ha! No, um, I am wearing Hi-top Converse, black leggings, and a jacket with some band logos pinned to the back. This is pretty much my every day ensemble in some form or another.
So…. Yeah! Thanks for reading if you got this far! You’re wonderful and I hope you have a brilliant day!

Banks - III - Album Review
Tumblr media
Probably like most people, the first song I heard from Banks was “Waiting Game,” a track that still tops her Apple Music page.  It was around that time that she was being heavily compared to The Weeknd while simultaneously supporting him on tour.  If you only know about the Starboy, her music was fairly similar to where the Weeknd started out on his Trilogy mixtapes.  When her first LP, Goddess, dropped most of those comparisons stopped there.  Some of my album highlights were “Change” and “Someone New” which showed off her intricate story telling and raw vocals.  It wasn’t until her second record, The Altar, that Banks really carved out her own unique sound.  In my opinion, The Altar deserved to win all the awards; it was one you could listen to over and over again, discovering something new about it with each listen.  “Lovesick” is probably a fan favorite from that record, but rightfully so, it was a pop masterpiece.  The Altar had something almost creepy about it.  Along with the lyrics, the production and vocal editing all added to this sense of a “darkness” inside Jillian.  One thing that’s a staple of any Banks record is her unique songwriting though.  While most people look at songwriting as poetry, Banks trades it in for a more direct, almost conversational route.  Many of her songs focus on love or the loss of and she’s always had a different view on how/why relationships do or don’t work.
Banks continues her elaborate, creative songwriting here on III, bringing confidence to the table and opening up her catalogue to more lighter music. Normally her music consists of heavy synths and a hard hitting bass with grainy vocal edits that push her to the back, occasionally giving the production center stage.  This lighter direction isn’t entirely new for Banks, on The Altar she had “Haunt” and “Mother Earth” that match the tone of songs like “Hawaiian Mazes” and “Sawzall” on here.  Sonically, “Hawaiian Mazes” feels magical, kind of like Banks is letting us experience this dream with her, but the lyrics suggest it might be a nightmare.  She plays on the fence with her songs a lot, sometimes matching the lyrics to the sound and sometimes giving them opposite feels.  While some songs are all around gritty and heavy, she holds some that have gritty and heavy lyrics, but sound like the music video could be in a field of flowers.
youtube
“Gimme” was the first single from III, bringing back Banks’ trademark melodic vocals with her usual synth sounds, this time with an added trance-like flare to it.  It’s a great example of why I mentioned she brought “confidence to the table.”  “Gimme what I want, what I deserve, gimme it” is Jillian taking control in this relationship they’ve formed.  It’s not just this song that exudes confidence, it genuinely feels like Banks slipped on this “glove” from The Altar era and it fits her perfectly.  While I wouldn’t necessarily say III feels like a continuation of The Altar, it definitely brings back a lot musical elements that were introduced with her sophomore effort.  Things like unintelligible background vocals and chilling vocal edits, both of which are highlighted in her song, “Stroke,” a track about Banks’ relationship with a narcissist.
Tumblr media
Her exquisite writing shines through on the second single, “Look What You’re Doing To Me.”  From just reading the lyrics one might think this track is about “look what you’re doing to me…you broke my heart.” But it goes beyond that, it’s more about every aspect of love and the way Jillian feels about those little details.  It’s equal parts “look what you’re doing to me, you broke my heart” and “look what you’re doing to me, you made me fall in love with you.”  This track soars with gospel-inspired vocals and an extremely well done feature from Francis and the Lights. There are parts that remind me of Jessie Ware and parts that feel entirely Banks, but she owns this song and even though it feels a little “done before,” it’s still a highlight from this record.  After “Look What You’re Doing To Me” Banks released “Contaminated” as the third single, the final one before the album dropped.  “Contaminated” is driven by Banks’ crooning vocals, leaving room for only a minimal backing and another distorted poltergeist in the background.  This is Banks at her best, displaying her incredible vocals and really showcasing her songwriting ability.  This album’s closer is in line with “Contaminated” in that sense.  It’s all about going back to an old flame and it works as an incredible outro, leaving her partner with the question “What About Love?”
Apple Music
Favorite Tracks: Contaminated, Godless, Alaska, If We Were Made of Water Least Favorite: Till Now
