it is 11pm and i cannot sleep so here are some hcs i have of the redacted characters n their listeners

these are really random so bare with me as I fight the urge to sleep on the floor

David : first off. mans is latino. ok moving on. his grito? 10/10. MANS CAN SING

Angel : has cried over their minecraft dog for HOURS (david had no clue what to do)

Asher : is strangely talented at claw machines and every time a restaurant has one, he ends up getting something for everyone

Baaabe : this lovable human is the mom friend. angel needs a tissue? baaabe has it. sweetheart hasn't eaten? baaabe has their favorite fruit snacks. someone has a headache? baaabe is already giving them advil

Milo : has the worst leg cramps ever LIKE THE ONES YOU GET IN YOUR CALVES mf literally almost punched a hole in his headboard once

Sweetheart : made of liquid. this menace quite literally sits in impossible positions, fits in the smallest spaces, and is so slippery. almost like a cat

Sam : smells like coffee 24/7. this mans hugs are legit heaven on earth and i will PREACH THIS TO THE GODS

Darlin : has tried dog food before. out of stupid curiosity. did not enjoy it!

Vincent : lactose intolerant (lol fucking loser) (ps me acting like im not also lactose intolerant)

Lovely : double jointed and occasionally scared Vincent with the ways they can twist their body parts

Fred : can type on a computer blindfolded (my sister can do this and I'm so jealous)

Bright Eyes : very good at stick n pokes. has lots of them on their legs and had developed a high pain tolerance bc of it

Gavin : weirdly in love with the show ancient aliens. loves seeing what explanations humans have for magical occurrences

Freelancer : heavy-weight. this bitch can drink alot before finally crashing but is also victim to the worst hangovers known to man

Lasko : listens to Lizzo. he just does alright.

Damien : is far- sighted but he refuses to wear glasses (same)

Huxley : makes the most amazing shakes known to man LIKE SIR WHAT DO YOU PUT IN THEM

Kody : (im petty but im giving him this) smells like hair gel. AND NOT THE GOOD KIND.

Xavier : has sung let it go at practice to many times (he really let his life go tho) (im so funny 🤭)

Elliot : had too many beanies that are the same color/design but strangely knows the difference between all of them

Sunshine : a major bookworm. passed AP Literature with an A and got a 5 on the exam (prayin i got that luck 🙏)

Avior : the type of mf to go into a starbucks and order a tea. AND DOESN'T SPECIFY WHICH TEA.

Starlight : opposite of Avior. has the most detailed orders for EVERYTHING.

OK THATS ALL CAUSE NOW IM FINALLY SLEEPY i got 2 finals due tmrw so im gonna get a good night sleep so enjoy these!!

my top ten redacted boys (because i am but a bandwagoner of trends)

1. sam - took me a bit to like him ( haven't even finished his playlist yet) but god his character hurts me, he and darlin have gone through so much shit . the video talking about the future with your vampire mate basically sealed the deal on him being my favorite character, and after reading one of the bright eyes series transcripts, it makes me even more interested in his character . (and his southern accent may or may not have awakened something in me)

2. avior - is it obvious i like tragic characters yet . his series is one of the first ones i've listened to fully, and the chokehold that the plot twist had on me was insane . the realization that he had loved starlight so much that he deus ex machina'd them out of the hellscape, and then was silently YEARNING when they were pulled back . i was sobbing you don't understand officer. also love his early sarcastic personality (despite it being a facade) and his constant need to wax poetic, i wish we still saw a little bit of that in his newer audios though

3. guy - ohh the love of my life . the only comfort character ever . babygirl . he does exude millennial cringe sometimes but i can gloss over all that because i love him 🫶🫶🫶 also love his dynamic with honey they r so cute together . his flashback audio is so good AUGGHH the tension . personal favorite audio of him though is his first sick video , because i am THE guy angst enthusiast and it's the closest i'll ever get to it . he is sooo silly idc i always binge his playlist when i can't sleep (ironically i always listen to the one where he attempts to help honey sleep and it works 🫶)

4. lasko - babygirl #2 🤞🤞🤞 love him he is just an overall sweet character . i've also said this before but, him being labelled early on as submissive irked me because i usually found those character tropes annoying and they tended to be infantilized . but the thing is with lasko its not his entire characterization , he's still a very good professor at the academy and ughhhqhh i know how 2explain it i jst love him (also. his slip up in the hot boi summer audio. he is freaky .)

5. geordi - his and cutie's story is so interesting . i love their storyline so much even if it hurts to listen to the audios . they're both flawed characters in a relationship but they're still taking the necessary steps to be better. additionally, while i definitely don't stand for the shit cutie did, i can relate to them in the sense of needing to know what people are thinking to function properly, which is probably another reason why geordi and his storyline hits so close to my heart . (is that corny. maybe)

6. asher - one of the reasons im in the fandom tbh !! he's one of the first characters i got into, specifically his valenweek flashback audio i ate that shit up . . i don't listen to him that much now but still !!! i owe me being here to his character lol

7. hush - creature/babygirl . i was kinda intimidated to listen to his playlist (for god's sake his title is "mysterious stranger") but ohhhh i love him he is so strange. tying doc up in one video and then asking them to hold his hand a few videos later??? love that . him showing up in carpe deus and fucking wrecking vega kinda sealed it for me . love theorizing about him too, if that's not obvious 🫶

8. porter - when i heard the voice that this character had. i can't even explain to you what my reaction was . he's such a fucking diva i love it so much , this guy is like 80% snark, and he just fucks with vincent for no reason .(when he said he was gonna bring treasure to the summit but didn't 😭) he's also so interesting . while ya he was sent to go to the summit and assassinate a clan king (which he succeeded in) he told sweetheart about the bennets discussing their partnership with closeknit so they could get necessary info, he provided an alibi for vincent, he also stopped grilling sam when darlin told him to . (also his 2nd video with treasure . killed me tbh)

9. marcus - not proud to admit that marcus is the first character i came across on erik's channel . marcus is weirdo number 1 (derogatory) and i just find his storyline so interesting. yeah its sad why he did what he did, but overall he knew what he was doing , he fucked everyone else over, and compromised a project, of which the failure could mean life and death, just because he wanted to get freaky with the robot . his obsession and little impulse control being overrun by the asset's obsession with him. GOD . . the satisfaction i felt when he was taken away 🫶

10. caller - weirdo (compliment) . again as a horror enthusiast i love this guy . he's like ghostface but if ghostface could phase through walls/was already in your house (and also weird and obsessive) . his audio made me have the same reaction when watching horror content : "holy shit i love this but also i hate this" 10/10 . he's only last because he has one (1) video . 💔

honorable mention:

gavin - GAVIN LOVE OF MY LIFFEEEE . i really did wanna put him on my list but i haven't listened to the freelancer series properly yet!!!! this is not a matter of him being my least favorite but rather not knowing much about him in depth yet !!!!

i want u to know that i specifically went to my spotify to put on my "amitola" playlist before going to answer this ask, so that should tell you where my head is at

of course for rwby v10 i want what the majority of other people want, for the bees to be shown in their relationship and for others to react to it in ways that really allow us as the audience to BASK in the fact that the bees are in an established relationship and are HAPPY. cause like, just thinking abt catradora and korrasami, well we get to see them get to that kiss and get their happy ever after, but in the show that's where it ENDS (i know with LoK they had the comics that let korrasami go past that point but i digress) like of course i could say all that and i WOULD say all of that

but

YOU CAME INTO *MY* ASK BOX. so you know exactly what im gonna infodump about. you know WHO im gonna infodump about

ilia. fucking. amitola.

we saw her last in all her collarbone-apparently-redacted glory in v8 along with a couple of other tertiary characters during ruby's speech montage. she had a fairly long focus shot (imo, for a side character) that showed her getting a call from ghira. so we KNOW that those three are going to be together-- and by the logic of ghira and kali being blake's fucking parents!! we can assume that they're going to all end up heeding the call and gathering where everyone else is. so that means that we can also assume that they'll all be there for the reunion in vacuo.

(no seriously where did they go???? i havent been able to unsee it)

ANYWAY.

so i want to see that reunion. i want to see blake fling herself into her parents arms and for ilia to kinda hang back bc she's like, still doesn't quite know what to do with herself-- and doesn't QUITE know how to relate to blake anymore. they left on good terms, but they haven't had much time to really rebuild their relationship by any means, so ilia's just standing there, heart tearing in half a little because there she is. she didn't die. ilia had mourned for her, had gone through that grief alongside blake's parents and now? now there. she's standing right there. and suddenly it's just so overwhelming that she starts turning a deep blue, right from her roots, her irises turning a deep icicle blue, sharp and unforgiving like the presumed loss she had to go through all that time ago.

and blake? she sees it. out of the corner of her eye, above the shoulder of her mom while in their embrace, she sees ilia shaking like a leaf. and she goes to her after another quick murmured reassurance to her parents. and she just opens her arms to ilia. and ilia flings herself into blake's arms and breathes her in because gods. she is real. she starts whispering "you're here. you're alive. i lost you all over again and now you're here."

and that's what i hope from canon, but am i going to stop there? no because hello. ilia fucking amitola.

the CATMELEON SHIPPER IN ME wants blake to reply with something cheesy, with something utterly heartbreakingly beautiful, something like "you could never lose me. i've always been in your heart, and you've always been in mine. and that's not going anywhere."

THEY HAVE A SPECIAL BOND OKAY CANON WILL NOT TAKE THAT FROM ME FOR FUCKS SAKE.

what i want CANON to do is to have ilia and yang finally fucking meet and talk. for ilia to give the "hurt her, no one will hear from you ever again" talk.

like OH MY GOD give me THIS. holy shit this is genius. maybe yang spots ilia looking restless and tense after an overwhelmingly emotional day after blake "comes back from the dead" and sees her sitting at the outskirts of the city/their camp or wherever. and so she just like. says hey. you know the best way i find to burn off extra energy? and ilia agrees to a hand-to-hand no weapons (and yang promises not to use her arm gun at all) and it feels GOOD to get the energy out. so they could have a good conversation that way and establish like, that ilia sees how good yang is for blake and how happy she is and ends with the whole, catch her off guard kinda blow and tells yang that if she hurts blake again, she'll obliterate her from the face of remnant.

what RAY WANTS BC OF THE EMBER RAINBOW SHIPPER is for ilia to get the upper hand and successfully pin her down and we have a delicious moment of sexual tension where ilia's got yang's hands above her head and her weight on her hips and she just catches the way yang's eyes sparkle in the dying sunlight of the golden hour and she just can't help herself, can't stop herself from saying "so that's why." and for yang to be just as pleasantly thrown off guard - "what's why?" and at this point ilia's freckles are flaring pink, her irises following suit and - "that's why blake fell in love with you"

like ON GOD GIMMIE. YOU CAN'T TELL ME THAT ILIA WOULDN'T SEE YANG AND EITHER 1) IMMEDIATELY GET JEALOUS OR 2) IMMEDIATELY AND UTTERLY FALL IN LOVE WITH HER TOO (or both? both is good)

shipping aside, i need ilia to STOP BEING FORGOTTEN ABOUT GODDAMNIT. this is just a general complaint of the fandom in general from my pov. like i dont REALLY see posts cross my dash, the ones that talk about rwby in general or rwby v10 specifically, it's like. ARE WE NOT GOING TO TALK ABOUT ILIA FOR A SECOND??? like y'all wanna see everyone react to the bees being in a relationship and YOU FUCKING FORGET ILIA?!?!?! so where else do i want to go with this??? i mean there's so much i could say, how i want rainbow bees to actually happen bc im greedy but i love the story they told with the bees already so i don't see that happening in all seriousness (and shoehorning ilia into the bees relationship feels like a disservice to the growth the bees went through together so i GET that but i just think it would be NEAT. blake has two hands, yadda yadda and all that)

i could talk about how i want canon to reveal that ilia was actually blake's first kiss because that would be so much better than the implied fact that adam canonically was, and that just makes my skin crawl, so to have it be ilia would be DELIGHTFUL to say the least.

i could talk about how i want ilia and weiss to be an endgame couple, if nothing else for the fact that a) it would be great for weiss' growth arc, ending up with a faunus -- but not only JUST any faunus, to have one that was SO detrimentally impacted by her father's dust empire, and to heal that hurt together and have those journeys weave together in the end. and b) i just want to be greedy again and tie ilia to a main character bc it will mean we will get to see her more than just for a few minutes every so often.

i COULD also talk about how there's a great idea to have emerald and ilia end up together because, similar villian redemption arcs, opposing colour scheme, similar unrequited love type situations. it's just RIFE for a great set up and that would be great.

i COULD talk about so many things related to ilia fucking amitola and rwby v10 but i think i've definitely said quite a lot of things already, so i'll just cut it off here skghsdfkghdfg thank u for ur time and attention if u have made it this far and have enjoyed or even just slightly made sense of my ramblings

Random pop in between work but I need to get over this year old salt wound off my chest.

if ur gonna be very obviously “inspired” by another persons design. say it. tag the artist or mention it in ur description. if you dont ur just copying/stealing and potentially tracing, especially in the eyes of the artist you ripped off when they find it. it’s social media sweetheart, everyone can see you.

some designs can be very personal to artists, for example when i make a version of a favorite character of mine EA because I am and I want my favorite character to look like me as well. i put thought and love into their design and even add stuff to have this character literally look like me

It’s embarrassing that people copy the exact facial traits and even clothing design to a tee of another artist’s design and don’t say that they got obviously inspired by that person. And than the said person who got ripped off finds the design with no credit whatsoever and just think “are you fucking serious rn.” it takes someone asking in the comments for this person to come out and say who they took from 💀

and when they don’t change the design they got “inspired” by except for moving one small color into it, that’s not called being inspired that’s called copying. literally from the pattern on the shirt to the accessories on the side thats literally copying— ok i think im good thats all out now

god i hate specific fandoms. (this is not abt top gun lmao)

if i could redact fanart from everyones minds and the internet completely i would in a second to prevent stupid acts like this.

This year alone I’d have to say Milo/Sweetheart (Redacted), Liege (NeXus), the whole vamp camp + Cher (also NeXus), and a few I haven’t written fics for would be Eritus, Nova, and Romeo (Noderum Records) (and no, i’m not just saying that because PK is the one asking) (this list also doesn’t include my own ocs, but i feel like that’s cheating?)

OKAY ACTUAL LIKE. TOP THREE SCENE CAUSE IM SO INDECISIVE:

This scene come from an unfinished fic (i have a feeling PK is gonna yell at me for this one) about Imp!Milo losing Sweetheart and becoming the same shell that Asher is. It genuinely is a fic I want to finish but never get around too.

Milo couldn't calm down as he and Asher were waiting for Sweetheart's call. He sat in the truck, leg bouncing mindlessly as he stared at the walkie between them. It’s been a while since their last check-in, and it was obvious that it was grating on Milo’s nerves.

“This is the longest part,” Asher reminded him.

“I know that!” Milo spat back. “Just because it is the longest part does not mean I can’t worry about them.”

“They’ve got this,” Asher tried to reassure him, but he was still in that fucking monotone. Milo wanted to strangle him.

“I know what they’re capable of,” Milo said through his teeth. “They are my mate, after all.”

“Then you should trust them.”

Milo crossed his arms, hands squeezing into fists. He had to look away from Asher, out the window, before he did something dumb. He took a few deep breaths before he responded. Asher doesn’t realize what he’s saying, he can’t. If he did, he wouldn’t have said it. However, Milo could not let this one slide.

“You saying I don’t trust them?”

“I’m not saying you don’t. Just that, at this moment, worrying is not going to help you,” Asher said.

“Oh, yeah, let me just stop worrying over my mate real quick, that is just a switch I can flip,” Milo seethed.

Asher sighed. Sighed. As if Milo’s feelings were a burden to witness. Milo started seeing red. “It’s not going to help you when it’s our turn to go in-”

“What the hell is up with you and interrogating me right now!?” Milo demanded. “Was anyone this much on your ass when David went after Tank?”

That shut Asher up. His jaw clenched and unclenched a few times, eyes straight ahead. But again, there was that indifference. “We don’t talk about him,” he said finally, voice low, a warning.

“Just because you have a death wish does not mean you get to pull others down with you,” Milo said quietly.

“I don’t have a death wish,” Asher growled.

“Well you’re doing a terrible job of convincing others of it,” Milo said. He shook his head, pushing the door open with more force than necessary, stepping out. “I need some air. Call me when they radio in.”

“Milo,” Asher started, but Milo wasn’t having it.

“You want me to stop worrying?” Milo asked, unkindly. He spread his arms, a challenge. “Guess what I’m doing? Not worrying.”

He slammed the car door shut.

The leaves crunched under his feet as he stalked away from the car. He could feel the heat coursing through his body. He was always upset at Asher for how he acted after David’s death, but this was new. He guessed it was just the extra stress of having Sweetheart out there practically defenceless. He should have never let them go on this mission. They shouldn’t even be here! What were they thinking? Any of them?

There was the sound of a door opening, and then Asher was calling after him. It didn’t take him long to catch up, grabbing his shoulder and spinning him back around. “What has gotten into you?” He demanded.

“Gotten into me?” Milo questioned, incredulous. “What has gotten into you?” He shot back, pushing against Asher. “Ever since we lost David and Tank, ever since you lost David, you’ve been miserable! You’re taking it out on the pack too, pushing us to breaking over and over! You’re miserable and because of it, we are too!”

“How come you haven’t mentioned this before, if I make you so miserable?!” Asher demanded.

“I have!” Milo yelled, stepping toward Asher so they were just inches apart. “I have, but you won’t listen! You always shut down every time I try and talk to you about it! I’ve tried to help, cause, fucking hell, you weren’t the only one who lost him! I miss him too!”

“You don’t know what it’s like to lose your mate,” Asher grits through his teeth.

“I don’t. I don’t even pretend I do, and I don’t want to find out,” Milo countered. He took a deep breath, heading back to the truck. Cause unfortunately they had a job to do, and even more unfortunately, his mate was currently in the middle of it.

He wrenched the door open, only to freeze in his tracks.

“Milo, please, answer me!”

I’m gonna take this so seriously hold on a sec I have so much to share. Okay okay first and foremost I gotta thank my best friend Max because he is an irl and does intercept a LOT of my dumb fic ideas (and then encourages me) but also just because he’s the first person I’d go to for a beta that I can trust with my very soul (my writing + my feelings around it). I would also like to thank (who woulda guessed) PK because you have also been a huge encouragement, and always seem to talk me out of my imposter syndrome episodes. In general I’d like to thank the creators of the original content I am making fics for because although I am taking your content and making it my own (in some ways) the whole reason I wrote fics is cause y’all are there handing me the metaphorical building blocks. I’m also gonna thank my lovely mutuals cause while I don’t interact much (i’m so shy guys i promise i’m nicer once you brute force your way into my brain) I do love y’all (/p) and you’re also a huge motivation for me to keep writing ngl. I would like to thank specifically PK and Laveau though because genuinely these two were a big inspiration for me to continue writing in general (more on the oc side of things, but it counts. hi im new and please if you so wish elaborate on the dumpster diving I’m intrigued

Mostly I just go to grocery store dumpsters and skim food off the top, I stopped doing it in March of 2020 for obvious reasons but today I was out in a distant exurb driving behind a strip mall for other reasons (lol) and saw a whole bunch of produce in a dumpster and took just a couple things bc it was broad daylight and there was a skeptic in my passenger seat haha. But I used to do it a lot more and would regularly eat meat and dairy, and give away stuff to my friends. Some tricks: go at night, be subtle, stay away from fenced in dumpsters, bring a cooler, be prepared to spend an hour after you get back sorting bad produce out/chopping up useable produce for your freezer, don’t fucking spread the word about specific locations undiscerningly pretty much ever bc that’s how you get good dumpsters locked up. And put everything back!!! Don’t make life harder for the min wage employees by forcing them to clean up after you. Oh, and scoping out places ahead of time helps a lot. And you must be prepared to see something gross, most of the time you won’t, but like…it’s a dumpster.

It’s considered a faux pas to feed dumpster food to unsuspecting friends/family/guests etc and I only do it with ppl I know are similarly idk alternatively minded? Most of my friends are totally about it once I give them the spiel, bc I tend to befriend ppl with similar sensibilities lmao. As I mentioned I go for meat and dairy stuff whenever I want (you think I’m purchasing ground lamb?? In this economy???) but produce and packaged food are way easier to tell if they’re still good. The freezer will be your bff (chopping produce around the ‘bad’ spots and getting it ready for easy access, and preserving things maybe on the brink of being yucky). Also it’s a good idea to keep an eye on current recalls. When in doubt safety wise you can always just throw it out. But so often expired food is completely safe to eat, and a lot of perfectly good food is thrown out for reasons like a) another package in the flat burst and ruined the other units’ packaging b) a customer grabbed something from a cooler, changed their mind and stashed it on a random shelf & the employees don’t know how long it’d been sitting out c) one onion or whatever in a bag of onions is starting to rot but the rest are still good if u remove the bad one d) new stock with a later best by date arrived e) the whims and fancies of corporate that only god knows. I have never once gotten sick from dumpster food but your mileage may vary.

Another thing to keep in mind is that to a cop I read as a middle class, sober, “respectable” white woman and in my encounters with security/law enforcement (which have been extremely infrequent and only when I got lazy about my rules) this has resulted in outcomes that wouldn’t necessarily be afforded to ppl of color, ppl in working class garb, men even? Idk. But it’s not illegal, the furthest it’s ever gotten is they’ve run my ID through their system and told me to gtfo lol. When in doubt, bring a buddy.

Don’t reblog this please. My worst nightmare is that it starts taking off on like tiktok or something and ruins it for everyone. It’s definitely doable but it has to be done right and I don’t trust the masses because the masses are young and privileged lol. Save the real world shit for us real world ancoms

I haven’t talked about it much on this blog bc I stopped due to the pandemic & I made this blog due to the pandemic so there hasn’t really been an overlap on those 2 eras of my life. But I’m moving in January and I’m planning to make it my primary source of groceries again once I’m back in [redacted city] & I’m gonna start foraging, fermenting and preserving en masse as well :-) very excited. Very excited also to be back in a city with a lot of friends that I can redistribute my biggest finds to and throw dumpster potlucks :-)

Any of my followers feel free to DM me if you want more specific info, I’d be soooo happy to help 1 on 1 but as I said i really want to keep it on the dl (you are so ok sending this ask btw I’m just never gonna like type up a guide or anything) because a lot of ppl rely on this as a food source or as a lifestyle that mitigates food waste (like me) and if shit hits the fan and people fuck shit up because they’re not being careful, (like what happened to Z Lib) more and more grocery stores are gonna start doing inaccessible compactors like the biggest grocery chains and the waste is just gonna keep piling up

unbelievably diamond jack is a real character from slam bang comics 1940 (given that he’s allied with zatara in this one off mention i have to assume it’s the 40s hero and not the capt marvel villain we’re talking about). once again immense win for the kind of autism me & geoff share

the flashbacks & forwards actually work wonders for me and i think that ought to put to rest any impressions that this may be a miniseries and not an ongoing geoff has explicitly confirmed he’d like to take to 80 issues. we’re admittedly given very little to work with but that’s because he’s got the space to stretch out and this story deserves it, compare it to the much more direct and compact narrative being told in the stargirl six issue mini. it’s good pacing as far as i’m concerned, and impeccable writing!

geoff’s ability to blend preexisting canon with new characters that feel right at home in the golden age of comics never fails to amaze me. this book’s a genuine & sincere masterpiece
