[As forewarned, I completed the poetry gala event and I have thoughts. This is not spoiler free! So please read at your own discretion.]

Points addressed: - Xiao's personality (Blunt, not uncaring), consistent instances, cited incidents that support said notion, nuanced differences - Cultural associations depicted (practises, beliefs) - Miscellaneous observations and notes

With societal norms and the unspoken rules in communication, individuals who are straightforward/blunt/literal often find that they inadvertently cause offense at some point in time. The very same can be extended to Xiao, who sought to minimise social contact and thereby does not know how his own words can be interpreted by others.

An example his CN VA brought up to highlight his inability to understand mortal perspectives is his treatment of Ganyu in her character quest, where he scolds her for being late. This, as the va explains, is due to the fact that the Yaksha can essentially 'fly' to where he desires and did not consider the fact that Ganyu as a half-adepti couldn't. Despite the fact that he appears rather unsympathetic, we later learn that he encourages Ganyu in his own way by bluntly refuting her need to explain herself to him and acknowledging that her position (duty towards the mortals and expectations as an adeptus) can undoubtedly cause her to be troubled etc.

Throughout the game, they have been consistent with portraying his reticence in engaging with mortals due to his concern over affecting them with his karmic debt. We see that level of care towards others in this event as well. In addition, there are several other instances that support the notion that Xiao is actually a person who is tender-hearted in nature despite his bluntness: - He expresses his opinion to Chongyun to view his pure Yang consitution as something to be treasured rather than a nuisance, when the exorcist appears troubled - Though he expressed how he doesn't understand the point of writing poems on leaves, that would be washed away unseen by others, he accepts the perspective of the others when they voice their opinions on such with an open mind: He not only follows along with their plan but even was the first to offer the suggestion of going upstream, even going so far as to accompany them in the act - He places weight on the opinions of Chongyun and the traveler, even going as far as to write a poem of his own with his fellow Yakshas in mind (displaying a willingness to learn and try). Being willing to go through the effort of composing one on his own speaks volumes. - Despite being wary of getting too close to others, he still made a point to be there for the event (according to the team's wishes), even if from a distance

Cultural Practices:

Adeptal affinity - This one is subjective to the environment one grows up in. For context: I grew up in a village who pays homage to the gods regularly. They have their own set of beliefs and superstitions. Those who are born gifted in certain areas or particularly attuned to spiritual influences (can see spirits and be influenced/house them temporarily etc) are typically seen to have received a 'blessing' from the gods. Which, if we think about it, applies to the concept of a Vision and adeptal affinities in this game.

Paying respects to deities (Pervases' temple) - Incense/Joss Sticks (Usually 3: Yang energy represents positive and auspicious energy and can be reflected in odd numbers) - Small dishes of fruit, alcohol or rice is placed for the deity or deceased to enjoy (by absorbing the taste and essence instead of physically consuming it)

Referring to unexplained supernatural beings as 'spirits', understanding that there are also 'good' and 'evil' among them, being taught to be respectful towards them regardless of knowing their nature or not

Miscellaneous notes: - CHONGYUN'S THEORY THAT HIS PURE YANG SPIRIT MIGHT BE ALSO A BLESSING??? HYV EXPLAIN??? I WANNA KNOW??? RATTLES BARS??? PLS??? ALSO DIONA??
