i don't remember where i heard this analogy, but it really stuck with me. you can't stay on the fence of belief/ unbelief forever, because the devil owns the fence. he owns all the religions of the world, except for the only faith that can save you: faith in the blood of Jesus Christ. the Son of God came down, lived a sinless life, took our sins upon Himself in death, and resurrected so we might have life too. because He LOVES us.
the truth is, you don't know when the end of your life will be. when you come to stand before the Just and Righteous Judge, will you be covered by Jesus' perfect blood, shielding you from punishment? or will you still have all your sins covering you because you rejected Him?
i don't write this to condemn, but because i love you and want you to have an eternity of joy and peace. so i warn you with love: Jesus is returning soon, to take His people away before God's Wrath and judgement begins (Revelation 3:10, 1 Thessalonians 5:9).

I get too insane when I think about the arcs they robbed from Sam in the late seasons
#Lucifer comes back he’s barely given space to be mad and scared and horrified#god shows up he doesn’t get the opportunity to confront him abt the years and years and years of faith; only to be destined for Satan#Mary comes back and he doesn’t get to bond w her like dean does and DEAN gets to be the one who’s mad at her#even tho she LITERALLY SOLD SAM to the DEVIL#10 years before he was even born#It’s so fucking SAD#and like I’m ok that Dean got to have his moment with Mary /but Sam deserved it too/ if not /more/#I’m glad Dean went off on god but it would’ve read as more /real/ to me if /Sam/ had gotten to do it#BC SAM WAS THE ONE WITH FAITH#HE WAS THE ONE PERSONALLY BETRAYED#And at the end of the day this to me ends up reading as Sam being the fucking kindest and most beaten down character EVER#but I know that it was just bad writing and prioritizing dean over Sam#It’s fine#I will just be bitter forever#at least the first 5 seasons are the only ones that count amiright?#Sammy#spn

Went on a huge rant to a friend last night about, of all things, how the Persona 5 protag gets characterised by some people.
I blame the anime adaptation for all the boring quiet meek wet cardboard characterisations I've seen. In my mind, the guy is an immensely kind but extremely flamboyant bitch who's good at manipulating people and only seems quiet and meek because he's analysing you while letting you underestimate him and, if you're his enemy, quietly plotting how he's going to fuck you up later!!!

I think that God in Good Omens is basically impossible to understand.
That's my take-away from the seemingly-contradictory behavior and the ineffability convos and the poker analogy. God is up to something, but nobody knows what. In fact nobody can comprehend what. Not even the highest angels really comprehend God, in the end every single being we actually meet on the show is still just sitting at the same dark table, trembling hand full of cards, getting the same mysterious smile perpetually answering everything they do.
So I think it's going to turn out that the Metatron is acting under his own initiative, not because God is a hero who will make things right, and not because God has gone missing, but because God is not giving anyone anything more to work with than some vague and contradictory hints and their own best guesses and never has given anything better than that. Only God knows or will ever know what God is actually doing. So says the narration at the beginning of S1, more or less.
That means the Metatron's role is spokesperson and translator for the most incomprehensible being ever. He doesn't understand God.
Of course he's just making shit up.

The thing about critique of Christianity is that there is this prevasive idea that The Bible is fine, it's the corrupt leaders that make everything the religion touches a nightmare.
And sure, that book has some pretty good ideads in it, like that whole camel needle thing. But it's core premise is so fucked up!
Divested of all the flavor and elaborate lore the sotry is as follows: All humans are inherently born cursed by the original sin commited by the first of our kind, and to remedy this God sends his son to earth as a human and lets him die in torment so through his suffering hummanity is redeemed.
So, in the text of The Bible, by default, from before we are born, humans have something fundamentally wrong with them, that makes us unworthy of God's love, but He loves us anyway, because he is so great, and through Jesus' sacrifice we are allowed to join Him in Heaven. But Jesus is also God, due to the whole Holy Trinity thing.
So The Bible explicitly frames God's love for humans as a self-sacrifice on God's part. To The Almighty, loving humanity in spite of it's inherent foul nature is letting a part of Himself be tortured to death by our hand.
Is is just me or does that sound like "Abuser's How To 101" to anyone else? Literally, "you are inherently unlovable and I am sacrificing myself by caring for you anyuway". Especially if we see The Bible as authored by God Himself.
That not to mention the insistance that Jesus was eqally and fully as human as He is God, which very unsubtly implies that human suffering is also a condition for God's unconditional love. Adding "I'm hurting you becasue I love you" to the list.
I dunno, I think it's at least a little bit fucked up.
#the story of Job is so so bad too like it's such a horror#satan literally tricks God into torturing this inocent man for no reason and no benefit and Job still is a faithfull follower by the end#that man goes through hell on eath just for the sake of a dick measuring contest between the two that doesn't even settle anything#when he doesn't stop being faithful to God after the abuse do you think it's because he realizes that it is the only real non-choice he has#God is almighty and omnipresent his domain is inescapable.
