I had to post this whole 1998 interview Ken Sharp for Goldmine did with George Martin in ‘98 because there’s so much there, but wanted to provide some excerpts as well!
Regarding George Martin’s “In My Life” project and the amount of John songs on it:
Goldmine: Your choice of Beatles songs is unique, not all the standards like “Yesterday.”
George Martin: Deliberately. Paul said to me ‘You’ve got a hell of a lot of Lennon songs on this album’ (laughs). And I said to him, ‘Well, Paul you did all the ones that people like hearing, you’ve done all of the very, very popular ones, things like “Michelle” and “Fool on the Hill,” “Hey Jude,” “Yesterday.” If you look at the performances of Lennon/McCartney songs, you will find that a good 70 percent of them if not more are Paul McCartney compositions because people want to hear those rather than John’s. John once said to me ‘Look, let’s face it George, I don’t expect to walk into a bar in Spain and hear someone whistling “I am the Walrus.” And that summed it up. That’s why I went for the ones I did. I would have liked to have done “Glass Onion” for example, they’re interesting. I put in a few of Paul’s as well.

today in our motw game, when i gave the players an opportunity to decide a main NPC's fate, their IMMEDIATE first response was "well it should be [that NPC's] choice then. consent, bitch"
which is FANTASTIC, i love it, i wish there were a million more like them
but now i, the GM, have to make that choice and the reason i gave the choice to them was because i couldn't decide in the first place!!!

Axl did a Freddie Mercury tribute after he passed
i'm assuming you're talking about the tribute concert, in which yes and it was a brilliant performance! literally everyone who performed at that concert did amazingly, though i'm biased to say that george michael did the best out of anyone that night.
quite frankly it was a miracle gnr got invited at all due to axl + everyone else's past comments in OIAM and on stage/in interviews but i'm still glad they could go to honour an absolute amazing talent and inspirational artist as well as raise money for an amazing goal!
i'm sure axl also felt very honoured to perform on stage with some of his all time idols, even if it is sooo axl to not turn up to rehearsals with elton john and go for a nap instead.

My conscience is too powerful sometimes... I felt bad for waiting until the last possible second to drop the news of me leaving to my office manager. (My general manager, however, can still get screwed with a baseball bat covered in rusty barbed wire.) So I told her today that I was leaving at the end of August.
To which she smiled and said, "Same."
So now we have a friendly competition to see who tells him to go fuck himself first.
