Ya know, whenever the dash is slow, I'll look at the 'your tags' dash and I've just figured out why it's fucking awful over there.

school sent an email at the end of the day Friday saying registration is open for the next school year

I wait until Husband gets home (not long after) so he can fish out the most recent papers to use as proof of residency, I scan those, then I go to do the registration (which is always way more stressful than you'd think it would be, thanks, Brain)

The option to register for next year is not there.

OK, maybe the email didn't mean "registration is open immediately upon receiving this email," so I wait an hour and try again

Try it Saturday, still no option to register, send an email to the contact who sent the school email

He replies this morning (Monday) saying, essentially, "Huh that's weird you should have had it, do you have it now?"

I do not.

I send a screencap of what options I do have, I explain what I expect to see, but, hey, if that's wrong, please tell me where it's hidden (more politely, of course)

He hasn't yet replied, so I don't know if that's because Monday mornings are so full of weekend emails to catch up on that he just hasn't seen my reply yet, or of there's an "Oh crap what's wrong" back and forth going on with IT

I notice the email subject line and message both say 2022-23 school year

which is the one we're halfway through now

so the school's usual level of competence and attention to detail is definitely being maintained

So, if any of you expect to ever have to deal with a school system as a parent, this is apparently completely normal for how schools operate, and I am honestly not sure if most parents even notice
