This may be a kind of weird and silly question, but do you know how far giraffes can turn their necks? I’ve only ever seen them looking straight ahead or a little to the side, but the neck is so long that I wondered if they could turn to look past 90 degrees..... I couldn’t seem to find anything online!
They can (and do) nap with their heads resting on their own butts! Giraffe necks are very flexible.
Here’s a still from a video my friend K. Dodge took at Cheyenne Mountain Zoo recently, which is a perfect example of that range of motion. (In the video, it looks like there’s an itchy spot at the shoulder there.)
I wanted to include a photo of giraffes actually napping with their head flipped around onto their backs for you, but I don’t want to pull one without a source off of Google - so if anyone has one they’ve taken themselves, please add it to this post!

The prompt "Thai woman with very long neck" really send Dall-E into the realm of pure phantasy. The flowers in the hair are the icing on this cake.

can you expand on the giraffes not having long necks please?
Mammals are developmentally regulated to only have about 7 neck vertebrae - some mammals break that but it takes a lot of evolution to do so, because the developmental lock is strong
giraffes wanted to reach up high for food, but couldn't break that
so instead of adding more neck vertebrae - the true definition of a long neck -
they made their neck vertebrae bigger
here is a giraffe neck. You can see the seven, very large neck vertebrae
here is a truly long necked animal, a swan. you can see the vertebrae are many, many, MANY more than seven
here you can see a large number of vertebrae in the neck of a nother truly long necked animal, Mamenchisaurus (also, notice the similarities between the Mamenchisaurus neck vertebrae and the swan neck vertebrae!)
Sooooo yeah. Giraffes don't have long necks. This is also why the movement of their necks is so inflexible - they literally have fewer bones to move about

Can we talk about how wholesome romance is in gt?
The giant is just looking down at the tiny lovingly with so much love and appreciation, gently sweeping them off their feet as they hold their entire being in their hands.
They exchange glances, both craving the affection and enjoying the touch, the giant just gently leaning in and pepperminting their tiny love in kisses because their lips are too big to kiss them on the lips.
And when the tiny wants to return the kiss they can just lean forward, softly kissing the giant's lips lovingly as it is now the giant's turn to be unable to return the kiss of their love.
The thought alone of being held close to a heart and feeling it beat for you, the thought alone of feeling the one person you love most in your hands... it's just so heartwarming...
And just being able to be so close together despite the huge size difference....
I don't know about you guys, but I want this.
