Internally, we developed as an informal project that self organizes in a non-hierarchical way in an academic context. The results were great so far, much of it due to the innovative way we organise ourselves (so far voluntarily) and using decision-making processes based on sociocracy.

We designed a method for group meetings which we call the 5 A’s. It allows us to discuss many topics and have productive meetings instead of entering endless circular discussions and ending up fed up of the people that make up our group. Meetings are super important moments in which most of the active group is together – this must be praised and honoured, in such way that no it is never supposed to feel like a waste of time. The gardens we built since 2009, are more productive and fertile, but also more appealing for social gathering and as a place to join the Faculty’s community and external members. While at first the focus was gardening and creating opportunities for scientific demonstration in regenerative agriculture and Permaculture, later on it shifted to how to involve the people, and therefore turning to socialscapes, non-formal education and regenerative social practices. As humans, we are ecosystem engineers. And after the experience of the previous years, we figured out that the most important is to reach the people, to develop a sense of community. We are working together in a synergetic way, bringing the sense that the whole is greater than its parts. Without thinking too much on that initially, we truly built up an intricate network, a web of people and organizations working together for the sake of our planet.

Gift 83. Concentric Duality. This is a favorite painting of mine; I’m not sure why. Maybe because it felt audacious to make it, because I made no intellectual justification for the simplicity and boldness of the design, the choice of colors, the wobbly imperfection of the curves. I just made it because I wanted to, owing no explanation to anyone. In fact, I’d like to make a pile more like this, variations on the theme, of different materials and sizes. I’d like to see these everywhere, on the street, on my walls, on clothing and books and rugs. And I’d like for it to mean something along these lines: all change happens in the present moment, and ripples into everything, future and past, world and self. on Monday we let someone (who we met on Sunday) print 50 copies of their zine for free on an inkjet we found on the streets. They insisted that we take some sort of 'payment' that would consider the value of resources, time, and that would take into account self-sustainability for a project of sharing like this. We told em "nvm ✌🏽️ cause we're sure the next time you see a sweet sofa on a curve that's perfect for this space, you'll think of us cause we were sweet and generous to you at one point". Their eyes lit up because apparently finding gems on CL's Free Stuff is their 'superpower'.... The *NEXT DAY* they found us this sweet toner photocopier that does 11x17 (the size of our magazine @superjodido, which we are alway struggling to get printed). And this thus then how the #gifteconomy works. It never ceases to amaze and inspire me. I am truly convinced we are all one big being of energy that experiences itself through different forms of subjectivity. To give to another is to give to one's self greater total self. And even though the idea of charity is vile (you do not fill up the cracks of inequity with the fruits of your unjust privilege) and that we do always have to consider sense & value (*) and we need to be 'realistic' and assure material conditions that can help us avoid burnout and allow us to keep working and creating... I do firmly have faith that all this shit we live is based on make-believe, and hence we can make it up however way we want: we can make it more fair, sweeter 🍬, with more care ingrained in our interactions. To give #gifts, to not turn anyone away for lack of funds, to #barter and think of different ways of sharing is to tear up the supposed "social contract" 🙄 and prove that there are always possibilities at arms-length to escape this mathematical equation model with which we rule 📏 most of our Interactions. It is to prove that most of scarcity is a myth created to pin us against each other. This gross capitalist system is brimming with excess shit that we can turn into fertilizer 💩 (en 7 Belvidere)
