"Siz insanlar, diye haykırdım,
"bir şeyden söz ederken,
'bu yanlıştır, bu doğrudur, bu iyidir, bu kötüdür'
diye kestirip atmadan yapamazsınız.
Bu ne demektir ?
Herhangi bir olayın asıl nedenlerini araştırdınız mı ?
Bu olayı doğuran, önüne geçilmez hale koyan sebepleri arayıp buldunuz mu ?
Eğer bunu yapsaydınız, hükümlerinizde bu kadar aceleci
olmazdınız."

This is Goethe's first novel, published in 1774. Written in diary form, it tells the tale of an unhappy, passionate young man hopelessly in love with Charlotte, the wife of a friend - a man who he alternately admires and detests. 'The Sorrows of Young Werther' became an important part of the 'Sturm und Drang movement, and greatly influenced later 'Romanticism'. The work is semi-autobiographical - in 1772, two years before the novel was published, Goethe had passed through a similar tempestuous period, when he lost his heart to Charlotte Buff, who was at that time engaged to his friend Johann Christian Kestner.

Mock Matterborn Re-Explained
For this, we’ll be using a few examples. For example…
Hey, hey Gooey!
Tumblr media
?
This is Gooey. He’s a result of being magically created in the image of something and is negatively charged (to a extent).
By that default, he’s a Mockdark Matterborn. Hey, how does it if feel being a Mock Matterborn, anyways?
Tumblr media
!!!
Nice, huh? So, let’s say, you weren’t using magic to make a Mock Matterborn, but machinery.
Tumblr media
You get Kirby Copies.
So basically Magic-Mock Matterborns are mass produced yet very easy to be defects like Gooey, and Machine-Mock Matterborns were… short lived, but they were near perfect imitations with little chance of creating defects.
And uh..
Tumblr media
We already know what a Machine-Mock Matterborn can do.
Tumblr media
Sorry Gooey.
Also yes, Mock Matterborn are hybrids of another Matterborn, that’s why they’re MOCK MATTERBORN.

How to find a language partner
Regardless of whether you're learning for fun, to boost your career, to get in touch with your culture, or for travel, you'll definitely need a language partner at some point, mainly for speaking practise.
You can repeat the same textbook dialogue all you want, but unless you actually practise what you learn with someone else, whether it's a native speaker, your grandmother or your classmate, achieving a near perfect or fluent level will be really difficult.
Here are my top suggestions for finding a language partner!
1. Your local language Institute
The German Geothe Institute, or the Mandarin Confucius Institute or any other Centre - they all usually hold mixers and get-to-knows, so attending one of their events is a great way of meeting fellow language learners and native speakers, who you can study with, and become friends with.
You don't necessarily need to be a member or a student of these organizations, but its always a good idea to check as different countries and regions may have their own specifications.
2. Use apps
Tandem, HelloTalk etc. Pretty decent way of meeting native speakers who want to learn your language, so it works out quite well.
The downside is that online platforms can be full of creepy people that will often derail the conversation into something unexpectedly inappropriate , so stay safe out there.
3. Your university or school clubs
Many unis have language or cultural clubs, so ask around to see if there's a club out there for your target learning language. You can learn quite a lot, and not just the language, but also about recepies, lesser known customs etc. Quite an amazing option, so try it out.
If not, chances are there might be a group in your city, so check out the Facebook groups. There's probably something out there.
4. Friend of a friend of a friend chain
That's the beauty of connections. Your friends cousin might be friends with a native speaker of the language you're learning, who's studying in the same city as you are.
Don't be afraid to reach out, or to ask your friend to pass along your request. If it doesn't work out, then hey. There are always going to be opportunities, so don't stress it.

Science Saturday
There are a plethora of prominent examples of the mutual influence between the arts and sciences: Leonardo De Vinci, Albert Einstein, Maria Sibylla Merian, Hedy Lemarr, Geothe. The painter behind today’s Science Saturday offering, Abbott H. Thayer, did indeed make some lasting contributions to natural science, most notably on the role of countershading nature, sometimes referred to as Thayer’s Law, and on disruptive patterning. His writings on animal camouflage were influential in the development of tactical camouflage during World War I, urged on by Thayer himself.
Published in New York in 1909 by Macmillan, Concealing-Coloration in the Animal Kingdom: An Exposition of the Laws of Disguise Through Color and Pattern: Being a Summary of Abbott H. Thayer’s Discoveries was the culmination of Thayer’s work on the subject. Authorship is credited to Gerald H. Thayer, with his father Abbott H. Thayer’s contributing an introductory essay and many of the illustrations. The elder and younger Thayers collaborated extensively on the book, which was printed in New York at The Trow Press, with lithographs and half-tone prints by A. Hoen & Co. of Baltimore.
Despite the aforementioned lasting contributions, the book received scathing criticism from the scientific and naturalist community, including being roundly mocked by Theodore Roosevelt. While some of Thayer’s observations were sound, he insisted that every aspect of animal coloration was rooted in camouflage, a theory that lacked scientific rigor. Take the example of the flamingo (illustrated in the final image above): Thayer argues that their vibrant plumage is camouflage because, for a brief period during sunrise and sunset, the animals might appear to blend into the horizon when viewed by predators from below the water line. There is no attempt to explain how their bright pink hue might help them escape predation for the other 23 or so hours of the day.
