Okay, so do you remember that one scene in FMA:B where Mustang is facing off against an enemy(I don’t remember who it’s been a while), walking very confidently, about to flick his fingers to activate his fire alchemy…while it is POURING DOWN LIKE CATS AND DOGS. His alchemy wasn’t going to work in that weather and he didn’t even realize that until he got pulled away.

Anyways I feel like Warriors would do that.

and this is why i can never write a fma/b au because Wars is SO Mustang coded and he and Mask could 100% be Ed and Mustang, BUT ALSO I CAN SEE HIM AS HAVOC (jean havoc my beloved…. ough-)

god that scene is so Wars coded tho lmao, he was so ready to kick ass and then hawkeye had to yell at him to save his life and I can absolutely see that happening to Wars 😭 i love him dearly but he’s definitely a Tad Bit overconfident.

Also!! Fun Fact!!! The reason I headcanon Wars as having so many sisters was inspired by Mustang because Wars and Mustang had such similar vibes to me and Mustang has a lot of ‘sisters’. Also Wars just has the energy that he was raised by a lot of women and I’ll stand by that. Mustang (biblically accurate Manga Mustang and Brotherhood Mustang) weaponizes his sexuality and has everyone CONVINCED he’s a womanizer when in fact all those women he meets up with are like his adoptive sisters who are fucking spies and no one ever suspects that because they think he’s some idiot who’s just sleeping around. And I think Wars is similar because I believe he’d let people think he’s an idiot flirt and nothing more than a pretty smile because if people think less of him and think he’s just an idiot they will be so underprepared when he comes swinging with a battle plan so intelligent it’s jaw dropping. I think both of them were taught to use their good looks to their advantage by women in their lives they have nothing but respect for, and it’s working out great for them because they get underestimated or what they’re ACTUALLY doing gets completely covered up by everyone going “oh hes just going to bars and hitting on people”

POTO adaptations analysis — Part 3 — The Phantom of the Paradise (1974), directed by Brian de Palma, starring Paul Willians, William Finley and Jessica Harper

this movie is a mix of Faust, The Phantom of the Opera and The Picture as a gothic/horror/comedy glamrock so you already know what to expect (and it was directed by Brian de Palma, the same dude who directed 1976's "Carrie")

Positive aspects (trying to not put the whole movie here):

– WHAT A FUCKING PHOTOGRAPHY, it barely looks like a 1970s movie fr

– WHAT A FUCKING SOUNDTRACK, no matter what genre plays during the movie it's so fucking iconic i love it 🥹

– Winslow Leach my beloved, aside from Erik Destler (Robert Englund) he's the best remade of original Erik we have, a little unhinged yet still pathetic and lovable

– Beef is ✨ICONIC✨ he SLAYS in gay 💅

– the figurine 🥹 omg what a fucking amazing techno-goth figurine

– the clips are so well made, the scene where Winslow rewrites his song for Phoenix while the red candle melts is probably my favorite

– Phoenix (our Christine/Marguerite) is so perfect and babygirl and girlboss iconic wonderful diva 💞

– AND, she and Winslow share the best platonic chemestry. I love them

– the mixt of tension, glamrock, comedy and tragedy are simpley perfect

– idk what's the meaning of this, but the characters are strangely related to birds: Swan, Phoenix and Winslow's mask

– speaking of mask, his design is PERFECT and it inspired Darth Vader's design (yes, Brian de Palma and George Lucas were friends and the POTP came out 2 years before Star Wars)

– as I said before, the movie mixes POTO, Faust and The Picture of Dorian Gray, in a perfect way ✨💅

– the movie also criticizes the music industry, with both Phoenix and other objectified women and the injustice that happens with Winslow Leach

– Swan is a hateful villain, but in a good way, he's also iconic and very well written (and acted)

– how the plot explores the paralels with Faust is so fantastic

– the scene where Winslow brings Phoenix to the rooftop looks like a reference to the 1925s POTO, where Erik as Red Death spies on Raoul and Christine

– Winslow's deformity is AWESOME

– the ending, tho tragic, gives Phoenix and Winslow the scene i wanted to see with Christine and Erik

Negative aspects:

– the scene where Winslow discovers the supernatural true about Swan and the deal he signed is kinda... convenient? Like, a hidden recording that explains the plot-twist? That's kinda of a scritp cheat

– i wish Phoenix had more scenes tho (she still slays)

Day 1, 09/10

Prompt 1/A - Library

“These are overdue.”

“Yes.”

“All of these are overdue.”

“That’s very likely, yes.”

“Some of them are overdue by…six years.”

Kakashi scratched the bridge of his nose and cleared his throat. He watched as the more-than-slightly-perturbed librarian swiped hastily through the stack of books he’d hauled in to return, logging each with an irritated little click-click-clack on the keys next to her. She eyed him warily as he smiled, hoping to appear apologetic and not at all like he was hiding the fact that this was only half the stack so far, the others still waiting patiently on his bookshelf at home.

“You accrue fines you know,” she said, her voice maintaining a nasal-flat tone of irritation, faced with the obvious irk of so many overdue texts showing up on her desk mere minutes before closing. Kakashi had tried to get here in time to do this earlier, truly he had - at Gai’s ever-growing behest. But he’d promised his dogs a walk, and then on the way back he’d remembered he needed to pick up leeks for dinner, and while he was at it he may as well get some other things for the week, and then of course he could say hi to Ino and get flowers for Gai, and speaking of he remembered Gai had asked him to try some of that new white peach tea they’d spied in the tea shop window the previous weekend, and really the weather was so nice this time of year, and the park was mostly empty, and his favourite spot beneath the tree was unoccupied, and then of course that meant he could probably sneak a nap in, and he had so few days off now, just a little quiet nap wouldn’t be too bad—

“Lord Sixth.”

Kakashi blinked, then smiled politely, as the librarian cocked an expectant brow. Her palm was out and he looked down squarely at the centre of it.

“I do apologize,” he said as genuinely as he could muster. “It must have slipped my mind to return these…uh…but I did get quite a bit of use out of them over the years.” He eyed the top title, Taijutsu Tactics, and wondered if he’d be fined additionally for the doodle he’d scribbled onto the corner of page 87, of Gai doing a handstand.

“I said you accrued fines,” the librarian deadpanned, not skipping a beat. “You owe the village 1,782 ryō. Lord Sixth.”

Oof.

Kakashi rubbed the back of his neck and heard a scoff from the charming librarian’s fellow clerk, who was gathering her things to leave. He sighed - Hokage or not he definitely didn’t carry that much money on him - and reached into his pocket. He extracted 400 ryō and placed it into the waiting hand of the librarian. Her fingers did not close and she huffed.

“That’s all I have on me for now,” he said. “Again, I do apologize. Perhaps I could come back tomorrow—“ The other clerk stood at the door tapping her foot and cleared her throat. “—earlier tomorrow, and pay the rest?”

A pause, his best little eye crinkle, a scrunched nose grin, the face of the beloved Rokudaime and definitely, absolutely not the “little shit grin” Gai so affectionately referred to it as.

The librarian huffed, counted the money, then did a few more pointed clickety-clacks before she reached down and handed Kakashi the majority of the stack back, sliding it precariously across the counter. He furrowed his brow and she patted the top of Taijutsu Tactics with a nod.

“I can’t accept these back without the fines,” she said. “Once you can pay the fines you can bring them back.”

“But…won’t that accrue more fines?”

The clerk at the door gave a soft snort. The librarian in front of him didn’t move an inch, and Kakashi very briefly thought she might’ve fallen asleep standing up, with the annoyed expression on her face, before she wordlessly nudged the pile closer to him.

Kakashi didn’t get to where he was without knowing when he was beat.

With another smile - this time a bit less polite and a bit more “little shit” - he took the books and nodded, turning to leave.

“Good evening ladies.”

“Lord Sixth.”

Sighing and hoisting the books in one arm, Kakashi headed home with a smile. Since donning the hat he’d felt unwittingly propelled into a world farther above the station he’d ever anticipated he’d be, but it was nice to know that even as the Rokudaime, there were still a few prevailing relics of bureaucracy that could make him feel like everyone else again.

Sorry for the long ask: but do you by chance have any thoughts on "bromance" as a genre? Like, do you watch it? Do you have recommendations? Are you a fan of it? I'm sorry if it's an inappropriate question (you are absolutebl after all, this might not be your cup of tea). It's just that sometimes I find myself drawn more to the chemistry of some current bromance series out there than the currently-airing BLs (but that's just my preference. Maybe I just prefer the low heat, old school types). I mean, I actually do like high heat BLs, but some bromance series really just blow me away with plot and chemistry that I don't mind the romance as subtext only (I just finished Japan's Kei x Yaku and Korea's Beyond Evil and both just BLEW ME AWAY. It was intense in the best way. And China's Untamed will always be a special favorite). Any thoughts? Thank you in advance!

There’s a bunch of early stuff out of China that is just barely censored, in that they don’t kiss (like the ghost boyfriend series), but it’s a lot more obviously gay than post 2016.)

I don’t keep track of the bromances from Korea (like At A Distance, Spring is Green) or Japan (with a few exceptions like Silhouette of Your Voice which is a yaoi adaptation) because they piss me off even more than China. It feels so cowardly. Or those wish side nods like Moment at Eighteen

It’s pretty simple...

if, if the characters were het and would have kissed in the drama under those circumstances, but they don’t because they are a same sex couple - I get really mad about it.

And I’m unable to get over that anger. Because the anger feels justified.

What's your FAVORITE Starkid or Tin Can Bros musical/media, and why? Or, if you can't pick, which scene is the most compelling to you?

Ohhh for a favourite I'm gonna have to pick two shows which are Spies are forever and The guy who didn't like musicals, both are so different in tone and I love the stories in both.

For which scene in most compelling I have to say scene on the stairs at the end of Spies are forever, something about the lighting and how it was staged just make me love it so much the part where Curt says "some secrets aren't yours to share" and then goes on to say "what about our secretz the time we shared, the feelings we had... for eachother" just kills me, Curt's acting in that scene never fails make me emotional and Joey is amazing in that scene as well as an antagonist both are a mission they care about and will do anything for it.

I have to mention that I do really admire Joey and Curt's acting in general but that staircase scene at the end really manages to get to me everytime the way they played their has really stuck with me and it's just on of those shows that I'll forever love and enjoy. I also love the rest of the cast they all played their characters so amazingly and really made them feel real.

I'm would talk more about how much I love the show but I'm very sleepy but I'll definitely be posting more about it later since I really want to go off about how amazing the show is and how much deph all of the characters have mainly the leading man himself, Agent Curt Mega because he's character is the one character that I have managed to think about in depth and I could talk forever about that character and everything we saw in the show hopefully I'll make that post soon because I have so many thoughts on each of the main and supporting characters 😆😆😆

Okay let’s talk spies are forever it’s a musical it’s about spies

Firstly gotta say that I am so damn proud of TCB for making this happen it was so so cool to hear this songs revisited and all the original cast were SO much better than they already were in the original show. And the new additions also killed it

I was gonna try and stay on focus with the songs but immediately have to shout out Joey’s hair it really is so damn luscious. Still think there’s a little too much mustache but it is a Look and he does rock it. And while we’re at it fucking Lauren Lopez’s hair ma’am. MA’AM. God bless you and your curls I’m eternally grateful and also dead and in heaven. And the ring my god why did they need SEVEN diamonds I didn’t wanna keep looking at it but I kept looking at it it’ssofuckingsparkly. And definitely wasn’t emotional about it one bit

BUT back to the actual show lol love seeing these gay spies back together and love how much they emphasised they were gay because the subtlety makes sense in the show but we want everyone to know they were lovers

Curt has always impressed me with Spy Again and the emotional journey he goes on is perfect but hearing it live really made me appreciate his voice. Also taking someone’s drink during the song and then proceeding to accidentally spill it was a big Agent Curt Mega move

POMME I’d never seen/heard any of his performances my #1 thought with him had always been thank you but fuck you for giving us that story about them flirting, but his voice was also SO good and he was so funny. Joe’s DMA is so distinctive but this had the same essence without being an imitation it was so great. The start of Somebody’s Gotta Do It was him onstage asking Clark if it was his number and he said hi to Denise both nights (idk how many shows his parents went to but both that I was at) and made a joke about not having seen the show and been meaning to watch it for 6 years and then we get baby boy running on stage with his “sorry I’m late” and he’s just SO GOOD as Sergio. But “wife” got me just as much as I was expecting and there was a lot of hip game definitely at least the last night and doing it to emphasise wife was not it Joey. Not. It. Also didn’t think about hearing the dialogue so the wedding anniversary bit was also no. And I had an anon talk about Pomme hanging out with J&L but them singing this song together also made me like,, 🥺 But Joey’s VOICE I continue to be impressed by how much he’s improved

Then Eyes on the Prize I my beloved. Adore Lauren’s Cynthia. “Curt shut up” when he’s not saying anything? Perfect. Love the range in this song because her high notes are the most angelic thing to ever exist in this world but she controls the switches so well. And definitely the last night the growl in “die on me”,, babe do you want me to pass out? Okay and AJ!! He is so fucking funny, the way he does the “you gotta’s” and then just walks away so casually. And Lauren’s sustained notes at the end my goddd she’s fucking incredible. Really need her to not sing with her hands so much when she’s wearing the goddamn ring though

And man Tessa with Pay Attention is also perfect every time, 150% vibes and energy. Talking about Curt’s beard when he doesn’t have a beard always gonna be funny. This song was also about making sure everyone knows they’ve got great asses, apparently

Eyes on the Prize II truly sensual as FUCK. In a funny way but also a Lauren you gotta stop way

And we did get (a slightly censored) Not So Bad! They really handled it so well, and Brian really emphasised the “I’M Jewish”, it was even more over the top ridiculous, they cut the dance break to check in, and said a very explicit “fuck Nazis” at the end. Love them

Like I’ve said, fucking adore Joey’s Vanger Borschtit but AJ was so fucking great, I knew they wanted to change some but they changed a LOT of lyrics which was fun

Doing This is such a great song MK and Curt are really great (we know I’m not her biggest fan but the way MK sang the “in your mother’s home” part really hit something in my brain but are we gonna act like Lauren wasn’t the best part of it, no. She’s SO funny. Okay wait also in my head she did a really pretty riff but I’m actually 96% sure I’m making that up lol

And then my favourite part of the show, Lo coming onstage to say “best song in the show” and then “oh not that one, the one I’m about to sing”. Uproarious applause. She takes a bow. Incredible. Genuinely her stage presence and command of an audience is insane

Then One Step Ahead honestly the first night I was just like my god Joey is Hot. So either I was just distracted or they did up it by the last night but like getting close enough to kiss, Joey checking out Curt’s ass, THIS is what this song is. And again, Joey’s voiceee. And the return of “time-a decide!!!” Can’t believe I almost forgot

Then Spy Dance is another really fun song and made even better by Lauren maybe fucking up and then laughing at herself bby girl I love you

And huge shoutout to Clark (and Pierce) for WRITING the most amazing songs and accompanying

This really just emphasised even more how *incredible* this show is, I’m so grateful I got to see it and I really really hope this is the start of even bigger things for them

Honourable mention to Lauren’s little runs when she was going offstage you’re the most adorable person I’ve ever seen
