What a game is for is so important and I think is undervalued. People say its "gatekeepy" to encourage people to try systems other than 5e that would better suit their campaign concept, but like, games are so cool, and there are so many cool games. Dnd is cool, but no matter what if your playing dnd your playing dnd. And if you want to be playing something that isn't what dnd is, the best way is usually to be playing something other than dnd. Its part of why I am really excited for daggerheart. Because, hot take, dnd 5e is NOT designed for campaigns like critical role. And I think a system that is will be really cool.
