me being so set on hating every fontaine character because their designs looked too much and only pulling for the sibs + arlecchino but then navia turned out lovable in the quest. they advertised wrio as a dogboy. neuvy is a dragon AND has elf ears.

Some (slightly old) enstars updates~ I got Nazuna to B-rank and was able to get all 5 copies of Antique Legends Mika (there were only 4 in my profile because I still needed Nazuna in the center lmao) Ritsu's just there because he looks cute in that card and I love him

#coyo speaks #I'm lying pretty low from here on out with regards to event running #like I'm going for a copy of Euthanasia Ritsu rn and definitely want a copy of Sora in the next event #but my plan is to get 5 copies of FS2 Nazuna which is a gacha card #so I'm saving up as much as I can to afford that 😭#rn I'm keeping an eye out for whenever jp finally decides to drop Nazuna's second event #part of me reeeeeaaaally wants it to be a reconciliation themed tour with Nazuna and Mika as the 5 stars #I hate going multi-ir on tours #but it's cheaper and I would absolutely want to max both of them in that case 💖#Mika's already had 3 events though (2 unit events and 1 tour)#every day of my life I am sobbing that they gave Nazuna ONE event back in mid 2020 #and that's fuckin it #here we are 2023 and other characters have had 3+ events #and he hasn't had anything #I could rant about that forever but w/e lol #I'm keeping an eye out so that I can start planning for its EN release so I can max out his card 💖

imagine being the most unluckiest gacha player ever despite the hardwork and effort you've put for months; eagerly saving up your pulls for your favorite character and wishing every night/day for them to come home to you, avoiding other pick-up banners because you're loyal to your favorite character.

the excitement you felt when in a few hours, you'll be meeting them. once the pick-up banners finally updated, you pull for their banner with bated breath but they didn't come home in ten pulls but it's okay—you still have plenty more pulls.

ten turned into twenty turned into thirty turned into fifty into sixty into one hundred.

you decided to stop for a while and your friends sent you messages accompanied with screenshots of them getting your favorite character. envy filled your whole being and sadness crept into your heart, you decide to ignore it and grind more because surely, you will absolutely get them!

as if fate was against you—it is now the last day of your favorite character's banner, you even resort in whaling due to your desperation. your friends managed to snag more pulls of them and your favorite characters always coming home to them.

you pull and pull and pull until your funds gone yet in the end, they did not come home. you stare blankly at the screen until your expression scrunched in sadness with tears streaming down your face and saying—

"i hate you."

with that, you exit the game with a shattered heart and sobs—you know it's not that deep because it's just a game at all, it's not that serious—but your favorite character became your comfort and anchor whenever you feel sad; ranting to them about your day or problems while playing the game as if they're a real person.

sobbing yourself to sleep—you didn't even realize your reality begin to warp.

CHIGIRI HYOMA

loves doing his haircare routine on you, and if you're too tired, he'll be a sweetie and do it for you! as much as he loves skincare routines, but his hair is his top priority.

tests new hairstyles on you and you pull every one of them off, but when he tries them on himself, he's upset about how they don't look as good on him as they did on you.

plays those random dress up games online, (gacha life) and makes you and him.

has disney movie night marathons with you! his favorites are definitely tangled, (totally not because he just wonders how she takes care of that much hair) frozen, the little mermaid, and lilo and stitch. sets up the couch with lots of pillows, blankets, and snacks to make sure you're comfortable! you end up not using half of them and just use him as a pillow the whole time.

wakes you up early (which you don't mind) on sundays so you guys can go to the local farmer's market. people running the stands compliment you two for being such a cute couple! chigiri buys lots of fruit while he's here, (he believes farmer's market fruit is the best, he's right) especially strawberries. he also likes going to strawberry fields with you to pick strawberries during the sunset.

would love to adopt a cat with you! (canon that his favorite animal is cats! sorry if you don't like cats) has a whole list of names planned in his notes app and a bunch of toys he plans to buy for the cat.

REO MIKAGE

a little cliché, but look at anything for a little longer than one second and he buys it for you. i mean, what else is he supposed to do with all of his money? if you could fill a room with all of the things he's brought you just because you looked at it, you would need multiple rooms.

his whole ‘hidden’ photos folder is full of silly photos he has of you just for a little laugh every once in a while. (totally not to use as blackmail and to send them out of the blue to you) truthfully though, he doesn't think you have a single bad photo.

has a dedicated section in his closet full of clothes for you whenever you stay over at his house mansion. (bro probably has a walk-in closet that could be a size of a small bedroom)

two words, staring problem. just having a conversation with him, and his eyes are burning into your face, carefully listening to every word as if you're giving a very important speech. (which you are in his mind) you could be talking to a friend across the room, and he will be staring and pouting, waiting for you to hurry and come back to him. point is, man is staring at you 24/7.

although you two are dating, still stalks you on social media. (shamelessly) deadass one day he got up to use the bathroom and he left his phone on the bed, and you decided to peak at his phone, (not trying to be noisy, just curious) and saw that he was looking at the instagram highlight you had that was photos of you. you never let him live it down and still tease him relentlessly to this day.

holds your hand anywhere, anytime. while walking, sitting on the couch and chatting, while you guys sleep, literally anything. the warmth of your hand brings him comfort and makes him feel warm and fuzzy inside.

ITOSHI SAE

has a secret instagram account dedicated to you. posts all of his photos of you and the captions are just him ranting about how much he loves you. he blocks you to make sure you never find it because he's a little embarrassed. maybe he'll tell you about it one day though.

loves baking! his favorite thing to bake is muffins and bread, and let's you be the taste tester! request something for him to bake, and he makes enough to enjoy the rest of the month! if he ever needs to leave the house early for practice or meetings, you always wake up to a muffin, freshly cut fruit, and a note on the kitchen counter neatly set for you. on days he doesn't need to leave the house early, you wake up with breakfast in bed!

puts up with you and your shenanigans. hungry and too lazy to get up? he already prepared your favorite 10 minutes earlier. can't sleep? cages you into his arms and strokes your hair until you fall asleep. bag too heavy? he was already carrying it. you're the only person he'll put up with.

although the doesn't quite know how to express his emotions with words, definitely does with his actions. to physical touch, gift giving, and just spending time with you, sae doesn't let his inability of expressing feelings with words stop him from letting you know how much he loves you.

needs you to give him a kiss before you or him leaves the house for anything. these kisses last a little longer depending how long he'll be gone. if he's leaving for a trip overseas, he kisses you until you're breathless and pulls away every few seconds to murmur an ‘i love you’.

loves going on walks while it's raining with you. brings an umbrella and makes sure you're bundled up, you can't get sick on his watch!

So, I've seen a lot of self-aware aus, and my favorites are SAGAU and Twst

I haven't seen anything with self-aware pjsk

Did no one make it or did I just not find it??

Since I couldn't find it, I was like "Let's make it yourself then!"

You know how in the beginning of the game Miku asks you for your name and etc? Yeah I'm pretty sure that mayyybeeee she could be self-aware at that moment??

While you two are "singing" (aka you playing tutorial and her singing) she may start enjoying your company!

So, while you're choosing a unit to start with, she just stands there and waits. She wonder what unit you'll choose. All of them have other versions of herself, but they all different personalities, so I think they're like different people. Even to og Miku in the beginning.

After that you play the story. Imagine the units surprise, when one day they start feeling someone looking over them. Like fr-

Depending on their personality, they were either a bit scared/paranoid, or just shrugged it off.

While the game was downloading after you played the first chapter, the unit you have chosen starts slowly becoming aware of someone looking over them. They're not aware yet, but they know they're watched.

Probably have mixed feelings about it. Is it some stalker???

As you proceed in the game, play the story of all units and virtual singers, play the events and rhyme game itself,teht become more aware of your existence.

And just like in every self-aware au manner, they start obsessing over you!

I mean, you've been with them for so long! All of them. You've supported in the beginning and still do. How can they not love you?

The unit you've chosen in the beginning are proud tbh. You've chosen them out of all!

Or listened to Miku who recommended them to you based on your answers. But then that means you are similar to them!

Yeah there's no way you're getting out of this one. Everyone would hope that you play *their* unit's songs, and pull their cards. If you have 3d and mv on, then those on your team are trying extra hard, to make sure that they're dancing ☆perfectly☆

Even if you, for example, put Akito on Mizuki's dance moves in IDSMILE, or Kanade on Akito's in ifuudoudou.

You know, I'm pretty sure they can see your profile. And when you put someone as "[Chara Name] fan"

Yeah they're so happy/smug about it!

And you probably get more cards in gacha. They're trying their best okay?

You know their skills make you have more "great" or "perfect" for quite some time right? Ohohoho (wtf with that laugh-) they're now just trying to help you out without it! You seem so happy doing fc or ap!

But some probably will make you lose the game when jealous or to make you pay more attention to them/their song.

I try not to be negative here. Like there's just too much negativity in this webbed site as is and I don't wanna add on to it

BUT god it's so hard not to shit on Mihoyo's character designs

Like I could write a whole fucking essay on why Yae Miko maybe has the ONLY good character design in Inazuma, and how Kokomi's and Raiden's designs are an affront to character design

Not to mention how much I could dunk on how pasty white the entirety of their fantasy India is

...but that would take like an ungodly amount of words and effort and ranting, and like I said I wanna keep negativity to a minimum

so instead I'm gonna do a little "bulk dunk" and go for the entirety of HSR in one go

quick disclaimer that I still play and enjoy these games and Jingliu has me by the balls no matter how painfully boring her character design actually is

ALRIGHT LET'S GO!

I guess it goes without saying that the design of any character in a gacha game is created with only a single thought in mind and that is: MASS MARKET APPEAL!

Which means the characters are meant to be PRETTY and their designs are meant for immediate appeal, not to actually inform the character

This results in some...weirdness

Like the fact that the Natasha (girl on the left) raised Seele (girl on the right) from childhood and used to run an orphanage, meaning she's much MUCH older than Seele, even tho they look about the same age

Okay Nat does look a little older, but no one is allowed to look old in this game

Something that becomes extra clear with

Serval! Who you'd be forgiven for thinking is a young adult playing for a rock band, and not a middle aged disgraced scientist who used to be in a rock band.

And yeah she's supposed to be AT LEAST in her 30s, because girl is the same age as Cocolia and that woman is a mother to an adult woman by the time we meet her

Oh and speaking of Nat and Serval, you've now seen 2/3s of all characters with ANY FORM OF BLEMISHES ON THEIR SKIN!

Nat has a spot on her chin, and Serval has a tattoo on her hip

Last one is Arlan

My man has the only two scars in this whole ass video game. He's also the only dark skinned character. He follows a pattern set by Xinyan and Dehya in Genshin, by being dark skin rep, carrying a big sword, and sucking absolute ass

But okay these characters are pretty, but there's nothing wrong with keeping characters pretty. Well, there is when their prettiness goes against what their character is supposed to be

So Belobog's story is one of class struggle in a military state that is holding back a never ending catastrophe. The entire population of the world is just one big walled city holding back the cold.

In it the rich and powerful live in the Overworld, where they have museums and theaters and grand statues, and a massive building from which their rulers can pass judgement.

The Underworld is mostly just a giant fucking mine where the lower class people are forced to work 24/7 in order to get food and medicine from the Overworld in the hopes that they'll keep surviving.

Underworld characters are survivors who have been struggling every day of their lives and have NEVER SEEN SUNLIGHT BEFORE

Yeah guys I can really get hardworking survivor from these two

But I mean that is just ONE planet, it can't be a thing for EVERY world, right? ...right?

So the Xianzhou Luofu is... a lot. Like it would take a long time to explain everything that is up with those guys, but the big themes here are stuff around chronic illness, memories, PTSD, war time trauma, and a whole bunch of stuff about aging

Like here are two characters who are veterans of war. One is constantly overwhelmed by her own traumatic memories, causing her to go into violent dissociative episodes.

The other one lost her copilot/best friend/rival/love of her life (YOU CANNOT CONVINCE ME SHE ISN'T GAY, MIHOYO) in battle, and the trauma of that loss has left her terrified of flying again, living the rest of her life in the shadow of this one monumental event

...yeah I don't see it either

But hey don't worry, this game believes in gender equality, and that means the men are also just very pretty and very boring

Like the Luofu's messiest polycule, who are all millennia old pretty boys made with the sole purpose of making the straight women in the fanbase call them "daddy"

Well at least Blade has spider lily symbolism, which is like always a plus for me

That's all the dunking I have for HSR. I exorcised the angry grumpy critic from my system, and can go back to being positive and loving things again.

And I mean these games make more money than I can ever even conceptualize, so maybe I'm the one who is wrong

Oh also

Clara is perfect and objectively the best character design in this game, don't fucking @ me!

I felt like I aged 50 years trying to get project sekai and my account linked in my stepdad's phone cuz it's Dec 13 and the free 10 pulls will only be available til Dec 20 and I still don't have my phone and in hindsight... It's not really that worth it considering the headache I went through.

#aria rants #my stepdad has a samsung a12. i dont know what he did to it. but it is a pain to use #there are ads popping up in the HOMESCREEN #getting my google acc linked to project sekai was the biggest struggle ive ever had #on top of battling every urge to fistfight whoever implemented whatever setting it is that makes it possible for ads #to appear in the HOMESCREEN OF ALL THINGS to the point that it will also appear even when an APP IS BEING USED #and even after searching bout it and getting that setting turned off it still CONTINUES TO SEND ADS FUCKIN HELL #why doesnt google play even give options on which account to use during signin in in wtv game you chose #why must i install another app for that purpose why couldnt they just implement that very option in google play itself #each time i see my stepdad's google acc pop up during the linking process in proseka i feel a part of my soul disappear #my search history in firefox is a wreck as i get more desperate in my attempt to get my proseka acc in his phone #i wasnt even planning on actually playing the game all i ever want is to get it installed and log in for 7 days for the rewards #this struggle was not worth that free 70 pulls (60 now that i used the free 10 today and got nothing good such is gacha)
