favorite thing about them: her sheer commitment to her cause. she went through the horror of impregnating herself with the sperm of what has to be the person she despises most in the universe and then carried that baby under her heart for nine months just for the long shot of being able to kill john. she stuck around for at least nineteen years as a revenant and stayed (more or less) sane just on the sheer force of her conviction. landmine people for real.

brOTP: well wake and pash obviously idk if that's a brOTP i just love the idea of auntie wake. otherwise gotta be wake and we suffer. in my head they either had a mentor/mentee situation or they had a relationship. maybe both. either way i imagine they were very close at one point.

OTP: wake/pyrrha/g1deon. i just know whatever she had going on with both of them was so crazy i need the prequel so bad. please tamsyn show me the gunplay.

nOTP: wake/john. literally what the fuck is wrong with you people.

random headcanon: the first thing that came to mind when i saw this is that wake put cigarettes out on pyrrha. this is like canon to me. more randomly i also imagine that she had a bad relationship with her mom but was close to her grandparents before they either died during the invasion of her home planet by the empire or got separated during resettlement.

unpopular opinion: she genuinely did nothing wrong. i would have killed that baby to open the tomb.

song i associate with them: thanks to lem's wake playlist, rex - brutus ii by the buttress. also raupatu by alien weaponry for obvious reasons.

favorite picture of them: franzia's art of wake was the very first fanart of wake i can remember seeing and really loving. her face her hair the fact that she's decking that skeleton. what could be more iconic

i will say that fanon is doing a lot of the leg work regarding ianthe and alecto being beautiful. like yes harrow finds alecto beautiful but otherwise a significant amount characters find both ianthe and alecto to be offputting, especially ianthe. i think even tamsyn muir has brought up that she was surprised so many people find ianthe sexy.

i definitely get what you’re saying and i’m sure you’re right, but I actually am not so involved as to be super affected, and really have only Looked at griddlehark fanart lol

tamsyn may not describe ianthe specifically as “sexy” but even a colorless insane version of the most beautiful woman in the world still sets the implication of a higher beauty than those around her, especially considering she came from the same wealth as Coronabeth. Ianthe is certainly off putting and her resentment for the people around her make her “ugly”, but not her inherent features.

same goes for Alecto. i’m sure she is off putting as hell, and the saints fucking hated her. but “only harrow thinks she’s beautiful” is not super fair considering she’s really the only one for whom we know intimately how they feel. John chose this image, thinks she’s the epitome of beauty and power as well, a blonde Barbie, and that’s literally God. Gideon fucking hates her bc she can never be her (loved by Harrow) so we can’t trust her POV either.

outside of all of these things, it’s also about how they are described. short of Dulcie in Gideon’s view (and really was she called beautiful or made beautiful by her kindness and suffering and the love for her?) when someone is described, it’s in such. mmmm grounded terms. mercymorn is not described as beautiful. g1deon is harsh and ugly, pyrrha and camilla both are made beautiful by NONA’s view and description of them bc she LOVES them. Gideon calls herself attractive and Harrow and Dulcie agree, but that’s not the same as the way corona’s beauty can practically stop traffic.

i dunno i get what you’re saying but I don’t think my observation comes from nowhere!! sometimes people’s biases come through and i think they are here, that’s all!

Harrow!

a character that i used to love/like, but now do not:

I can't think of anybody this quite applies to, but when I started HtN I stood ready to actually stan Mercymorn rather than just find her interesting as a character. Turns out Mercy is, uh, absolutely fucking awful to poor Harrow and even to Ianthe!!! Real fun! I still love reading about her, though.

a ship that i used to love/like, but now do not:

I was open to Campal until "As Yet Unsent". I don't care very much that they're second cousins but I do care a lot that AYU just presents Camilla's feelings about him very, very differently than would be conducive to their being in a relationship.
