Last night, as part of my 31 nights of Halloween movies I watched Crimson Peak (with my parents btw) because I was so convinced it was a vampire movie that I literally wrote it into something before I saw the movie thinking "heehoo people are going to enjoy this little reference" and then it wasn't. I was so so ready for vampire Tom Hiddleston to get stabbed with a stake and maybe drink someone's blood. I'm not going to say I was disappointed because I don't think that's the right word (the production design is absolutely beautiful) but I think I will say "hey. What the fuck did I just watch".
If I had a nickel for every time Tom Hiddleston played a rich soft goth anti-hero little-brother character who has a dead mother, shitty dead father, and a weirdly incestuous relationship with an insane woman who likes knives, and also stabs someone without the intention to kill but instead just out of convenience, then I'd have two nickels which isn't a lot but it's really weird that it happened twice.
I'm sorry I still can't get over how funny his whole character twist is.
They build up this character as Mr. Perfect (he's rich! He's fancy! He's new in town!) And his big twist is that he's a huge fucking nerd getting pegged by his sugar-sister-mommy-dommy who's killing the women he "marries" for him for money so he can play with his trinkets and build a machine.
#it didn't convince them that I don't have a crush on Tom Hiddleston#he had his FULL ASS OUT in that one scene what the fuck#Like him and the practical production pieces (the cgi ones were not as good) seriously carried the movie#Ok ok but like full review though:#it tried and kind of failed to do the whole 'Misery' thing and relied on way too many tropes for the story to really land#as scary or disturbing IMO. Like for me it was in this awkward state between Pride and Prejudice/Beauty and the Beast and The Shining#and neither element really felt right or shined through enough to make the movie great#most of the rest of the dialogue was awkward or flat and didn't land properly unless it was mr. Tom Hiddleston speaking#and many pieces tried to do that weird edgy thing that almost never works#The set design and practical gore effects are really the thing that let the movie shine#there's all this symbolism and these interesting motifs throughout that you can pick out of the Victorian sets that are just amazing#but it's pretty mid#a select few scenes absolutely rock and go extremely hard#but they're so few and far between idk if it makes it worth it#also I wanted more gore less sex but that's a personal gripe#oh and one last thing#I fucking loved 'the machine'' it's my favorite Victorian trope it has such good noises and makes a really horrible atmosphere#anyway... um... idk what to give this movie.... 6/10?#fun but pretty average#goat talk#crimson peak#crimson peak spoilers

The percentages @kyanako5972 and I were referencing are from adding the prisoners' ratios from the two trials, btw! (I wish I knew the number of total votes to do a more accurate overall average, but ah well.) I don't think this is how they'll actually calculate final verdicts, but it gave me a jumping-off point for my fic and also is cool to see in general 🤷♀️ I used Kotoko's numbers from right now but it'll change by the end of course. She, Muu, and Amane are majority guilty rn.

🔥 if you were in the life games, how would you play it?
this is such a fun question because i actually will be participating in a re-created double life series soon for fun with some friends!
i'm not that great at pvp, nor at redstone or traps or anything like that, but i dooo loooove me some roleplay and i do loooove me some improv. i like being the bad guy more than anything, but like a dark gray kinda bad guy. if i were at my peak ideal play, i'd be something along the lines of lawful evil. all about deals, all about technicalities, trying to one-up people, taking advantage of others, etc.
now am i skilled enough to do that? probably not. but that's the vibe i'd want my "character" to be.

Context isn’t totally necessary, but the cliff notes are that story is set in an urban fantasy world, Nim and Lune are adopted siblings / father and daughter. They are part of a rarely-seen species who live isolated from the rest of the world and have immense magical power, but left their home in search of a better life shortly before being captured by local mad scientist Sammy. Nim was taken in by Delilah and her shapeshifting dragon son Dante after she was rescued separately from Lune.

#denziman#sentai#smiled this whole fight tbh such a fun way to use the location#no one used any of their stock footage special moves (until the finisher but even then most of that was new)#the whole gang has this cheeky confidence about them#they've had no real guidance and the only ones with formal combat training are red and green#but it feels like everyones gotten good at what they do - like the teams really grown as a unit#they've really hit their stride - we've gotten the average deathcount per episode down significantly and i've never been more proud#i'm very worried that the 'mid season confidence coming back to bite you in the ass' trend doesnt come back to bite me in the ass rn#after metalder and flashman (and amazon to an extent) i really just need a show that lets the good guys stay winning for a lil while#denziwatching#side note but while the characters are all pretty one note/very standard in terms of stand out/memorable traits#i think the actors are all doing a really good job in terms of just absolutly oozing personality

Ran 18 miles in Forest Park yesterday and it was by far the fastest I've ever done that distance on trail despite being deliberately Easy Pace (because I've gotten that much better at running recently! it's still blowing my mind) and including lots of walk breaks on the big climbs, but I fell fell dramatically around mile 16 because I wasn't picking my toes up high enough in a rooty downhill section. Landed in a full Superman on the trail, but at least managed to avoid bashing my chin on the ground this time. Was passing an old woman who was hiking and alarmed her. She was waving her hands near her face and going "oh! oh! oh!" as I took several long seconds of stumbling and yelling to actually complete my fall, lol. Today I keep finding new bruises.
#trail running is significantly slower than road running and I did that run at what used to be#a normal/only slightly slow pace for me for a road 18-mile easy pace training run#11:30 average pace at easy-moderate perceived exertion for 18 miles of rocky/rooty singletrack with 2000 feet of climbing?#it's more likely than you think!#guys I am getting fucking good at this#I mean for someone who will never be GOOD-good at this#like I know what I'm doing and my body has adapted to have a#chill fun time doing something that would be pretty hard for most people#I am so excited about it!!!

About the fic tho,,, your writing is so good. I came for the arc between Hunter and Vee (which I ADORE btw), but everyone’s characterization is just top tier imo. You even think through canonical strengths so well that you find new ways to turn them into FLAWS and I like it a very not normal amount.
Like… Luz genuinely fucking up a bit? Without being tricked like she was with Philip? You created such neat depth around her coping mechanism of distracting herself by helping others heheheee!!
Willow and how she got so set on being “the reliable one” that others find it hard to open up to her since the vulnerability feels one-sided is really interesting cuz it makes sense! It’s counterproductive, but I can see why she does it.
“The true mom-friend was Gus” is BASED, I’m absolutely here for it!!! He’s one of my favs, so I sometimes think he’s overlooked as far as character depth, but I love how you write himmm!!
Amity having to re-recognize that her and Hunter do indeed have a lot in common, but becoming very relaxed and understanding towards him once she does? Yissss always appreciate the (platonic) rosegold hostility->solidarity pipeline!
Hunter’s lingering child soldier mentality stuff is mmmmmmmmm!! And seeing him start to overcome it as he trusts others more IS SO!!!! AAAA!!!!! Directing it at Hunter may have been misplaced, but it’s understandable enough that Hunter himself recognized what she needed and encouraged her do her thing (when he does it out of guilt, I wanna hit him upside the head with therapy, but it’s still nice of him). And then her sudden, genuine “I forgive you” makes me wanna SOB, it’s so gooodddd!!
Even Jacob is super neat???? I never thought of Masha being like family sorta with him (and ngl I was actually :/ about the idea for a hot sec) but you worked it SO WELL!! I’m interested in his arc now lmaoooo

#going first i am currently v into modding Dark Souls 3 and Elden Ring. i think it's an understandable process with rly helpful tools!#and it kinda has me interested in trying to learn how to mod other games but soulsborne is kinda an oddball#in that the tools available really help streamline the process. i can do everything i would need with just 3 tools and am in#a discord server where if i ever have a quick question that specific mod community is really helpful actually (. ❛ ᴗ ❛.)#and it's def more of a secondary thing to drawing and what i do to relax but making chokers is really fun too when i get a chance to do it.#like i bought this pretty shade of red and different laces ‚ also a rly good variety of spikes chains and studs/rivets whatever it's called#also have two big leather sheets and idk there r just sooo many things u can do! i didn't realize how fun the creative process was AMD#and* i didn't realize until i made my own how like... most of the ones u would buy are really similar actually.#like i feel like my worst choker is still better than most of the average ones u could buy ( ꈍᴗꈍ) and i do have some pride in that.
