I truly believe that Miguel is Elsa from Frozen (2013) done right. He too has powers that are powerful and dangerous. He also shuts himself off from his loved ones because he doesn’t feel like he’s worthy or good enough to be around them. He’s also grief stricken after hurting someone he loved deeply, and blames himself entirely for it. But he’s actually a character. He has a personality and flaws and backstory that makes him a very complex character (and he actually has a sense of humor!!! Woah!!!!). Meanwhile Elsa does have those some attributes, but she doesn’t feel like a character with a personality. All she has is the cool ice powers, the hair, the dress, and the song Let It Go. She is the poster girl, the cheerleader for frozen. Every other Disney princess and even Anna has more personality and character than she does.

Also, their struggles and morally bad actions are framed differently. When Miguel does everything to keep miles at the society to preserve the canon, it’s framed as a bad thing because he is being violent and in fact harassing a minor. He still has that moral dilemma and he’s not portrayed as the villain, but his actions at that moment are portrayed truthfully as wrong. In Frozen however, Elsa abandons her sister, causes the whole kingdom to basically freeze, and leaves them with a corrupt guy with sideburns as ugly as shit to lead them. And what does she get? She gets the song Let It Go, the song about being empowered and free and oh wow just ignore how controversial the idea of “abandoning your loved ones and isolating yourself is empowering” is, just buy our frozen merch kids! If they had even just one scene where they showed Elsa trying to happy all alone in her castle but instead being miserable because she left her loved one behind, then it could be fixed.

Kristanna's Headcanons
