if a 11th century longship crew arrived at Navy HQ and I was in command I feel like I wouldn't break them up or anything but I might like. Encourage them to take a couple of months to retrain and learn what like. Electricity and the internet and shortwave radio and the internal combustion engine and movable type are. before I send them flying around as our flagship.

I just think when people timeskip that far we should acknowledge that 930 years ago in Britain folks were speaking Old English and living in motte and bailey castles and subsistence farming and hunting wild boar and making illuminated manuscripts. It's only like 200 years between now and the golden age of the Federation and they fit WW3, the collapse of capitalism and the establishment of a thriving intergalactic empire in there! I just think there should be a bigger culture gap in a millennium! The insta-transports and magic computers are grand and all but I'm going to need to see at least one ENTIRELY new and unseen-before tech that everyone from the 23rd century crew is just like whaaaaaaaat. the fuck is that.

As requested by @veggiesforpresident a cane sticker tour, from top to bottom:

The plant eye sticker is from arleebean, back when they had sticker level on Patreon (she is on Insta and Patreon).

The @ao3 sticker is a membership perk, obviously.

The marvelous TOS Kirk and his chicken sandwich is by @mvpurple-art, who have a ko-fi Star Trek sticker club (*hint*). They also did the shiny purple fiend lower down.

I can't find the info about the screwdriver, the dragonfly nor the rabbit No-face sticker, but I bought them directly from the artists at the ComiCon where I live.

The Words are Hard sticker is from Freewrite. I use their Traveler electronic typewriter.

The Edwardian horse is from Ikea years ago.

The whale shark is from FlairFighter on Insta.

I THINK it's done. I usually spot something right after posting, so I'll wait with facebook and insta, but you guys get it first! :D

My Bored TTRPG fanart!! Oh boy that was a ton of work... O.o

The devil's in the detail, so here's a list of every detail or reference I put in, but feel free to try and spot everything first! :)

Rowan's ripped shirt: A classic Captain Kirk thing, the guy would always get into fist fights with various aliens and rip his uniform to shreds in the process. And I found it very fitting since a certain model has the tendency to get naked in front of the camera. 😜

Rowan's weapon: This is a Klingon Bat'leth! I used the one we have at home for reference. 😅

Alan's communicator: Since Alan kept pretending to hold something to his ear to speak to Rory, I settled on Lt. Uhura's iconic ear piece!

The uniforms: A mix between the Playtech/TechTown polo shirts and the black collar uniforms in Star Trek TOS (the original series with Kirk and Spock)

Adam's "glasses": Instead of dramatically taking off his glasses, he's dramatically taking off Geordi La Forge's visor (Star Trek TNG)

Adam's tricorder: A device for scanning and analysing stuff, in this shape or form often used by Mr. Spock

Ben's helmsman helmet: Cerebro from the X-Men movies

Ben's helm: Since Adam complained there shouldn't be an actual helm on a star ship and it's all controlled by an AI, I decided on VR controlls. 🤣

The background: The four lights and the herringbone pattern are a reference to the background during the session.

I misread starfleet as starbucks in your post and probably spent a good five minutes trying to figure out if it was a metaphor for something or just just a shitpost.

Me: maybe starbucks employees beaming down to uncharted planets is really about baristas trying to make fake “secret menu” tiktok drinks? but if that’s the case we really shouldn’t be blaming the starbucks employees for beaming down without a way to get back up. that’s definitely the fault of the tiktok kids.

Now I'm envisioning a star trek episode where a cafe chain outside of the federation has launched a new sales initiative where they beam their baristas down to various planets to insta-deliver your coffee order, except they cut corners during the testing phase so they keep messing up and beaming their employees down to random uncharted planets with no way to get them back. So starfleet intervenes to rescue a bunch of disgruntled starbucks baristas from death-by-corporate-greed.

🤩 - favorite character to draw

Honestly, I don't have a favorite per se. There's some I find myself coming back to whenever I don't have a specific plan for what I wanna draw (young teen ahsoka, purshee and tipit, sifo-dyas, jocasta...), honestly anything with a design you can have fun with.

I love coming up with new hairstyles and outfits for characters, so the more i dislike their visuals in canon or the more free real estate the character design is, the more often i draw them lol

🧐 - do you spend much time researching and finding references for your images

no.

like, the usual amount of references for my drawings is 0

sometimes I will accidentally see a pose or an outfit I think really matches a character and I'll draw them in that, but I don't go searching for stuff on purpose. I like making things up as I go or just reference things I know from experience.

I think there's been a whopping total of two (2) whole drawings that I actually looked up specific references for :P

one is this mandosona thing of me that I did for an insta challenge once (i had to look up he trachten of specific cantons my fam is from)

and the other is this star trek oc wallpaper thingy with the crew of the renowned starfleet ship USS Joe Mamas
