Third tattoo for my best friend Josh! Was on the fence about getting another memorial tattoo, but the appointment happened to fall on his birthday and I took it as a sign. It’s the second time I’ve accidentally scheduled a tattoo on a Josh-related date!

Josh loved the smell of skunk, and since his passing his loved ones have felt that when we smell skunk it’s Josh paying us a visit, similarly to seeing a cardinal. The flower colors are inspired by the flower I got to take home from his funeral, and the eyes match his.

One of my favorite common Josh phrases was “we don’t ask questions,” usually in response to silly things (for example “why are your eyes red” 😂). But this was also his approach to unconditional acceptance of others. In my experience he was very much of the mindset that he didnt have to fully understand something to respect it.

Meanwhile I’ve grown to be someone who does see a lot of value in learning every detail about someone to show interest. Which I think is equally as kind and emotionally intelligent as Josh’s approach and I always appreciated us learning from each other in that way.

Happy 28th birthday Josh! 🦨❤️💛💚 (Side note I really and truly don’t even smoke lol, this just matches his energy and is the perfect homage)
