Fresas Con Crema | Strawberries and Cream Recipe
Ingredients:
1 Can Evaporated Milk (12oz. / 354ml)
1 Can Sweetened Condensed Milk (14oz. / 396g)
1 Can Media Crema / Table Cream (7.6oz. / 225ml)
1 Package Cream Cheese Softened (8oz. / 226g)
1/2 Cup Chopped Strawberries (70g)
2 Teaspoons Vanilla Extract (10ml)
3 Pounds of Strawberries, Chopped (1.4 kilograms)
Whipped Cream for Topping
Directions:
In a blender, combine evaporated milk, condensed milk, media crema, cream cheese, 1/2 cup chopped strawberries, and vanilla. Process until smooth.
In a large mixing bowl, add the 3 pounds of chopped strawberries, stir in the cream mixture. Cover with plastic wrap and chill in the refrigerator for at least an hour. Serve chilled.

Mateo’s Ice Cream, 1250 S Vermont Ave, Los Angeles (Pico Union), CA 90006
Founded in 1982 in Los Angeles by Priciliano Mateo, Mateo’s serves Mexican style ice cream, paletas, juices, smoothies, breakfast, sandwiches, esquites, bionico, fresas con crema, milkshakes, aguas frescas, etc. I didn’t see prices for anything except the ice cream. They’re known for their ice cream and paletas made with real fruit. Ask for samples of the ice cream. They have flavors like soursop, mango chamoy, guava, cactus fruit, mamey, hibiscus, and smoked milk.
Strawberries & cream ice cream: more cream than strawberry, pretty sweet
Yellow cherry (nance) ice cream: very sweet
One scoop of passionfruit sorbet ($3.38): big scoop, the sorbet was smooth and packed with a very tangy flavor, not overly icy or watery
Mateo’s is in a strip mall with parking. The interior is colorful with one neon sign. There are a few small tables. The mascot is a smiling paleta.
