So I made a French toast bake with these leftover breadstick things from toppers that are like a sweet/strudel/streusel

and I don’t think I let the bread soak long enough. The recipe I used as reference didn’t say to soak it, just to make sure it was covered and I thought it was kinda weird and also like the recipe for it was using fresh bread and the sticks i used are like hard as rocks so I should have tossed them in the custard mixture and let it soak for like 20 minutes but I didn’t so like there’s a lot of….. custard? But it set weird. Like a mix between scrambled eggs and flan. It tastes okay ish but idk it’s weird. I’m mad I didn’t follow my gut and soak the bread.
