The developers have said that this will continue to be a free-to-play game. The only real-money purchases are for cutesy outfits. Nothing purchased with real-money will ever give gameplay advantages.

While Singularity 6 is a newer company formed by previous employees from large MMOs, it is still a big company; I want to be transparent that this isn't a tiny indie game.

That said, the developers are very transparent about game progress and have proven to be extremely receptive to player input. The game is in beta testing. Each update brings new content as well as fixes, and I've enjoyed every one!

this is the first and last thing i’m going to say about this bc this isn’t a “hot take discourse mic drop” thing. this is very fucking real and talking abt it on tumblr is not really going to do anything. the last thing the internet needs is a fucking half-dead stranger things blog giving their fresh hot take abt a literal war, but if we are going to talk about it on tumblr, we need to be talking about it responsibly.

ok.

saying “you either stand with israel or you stand with terrorism” is dangerous propaganda, and it doesn’t matter if it was intentional or not. it is SO irresponsible to insinuate to your millions of followers (mostly teens and children) that not supporting a colonial power that is actively carpet bombing palestinians is being complicit in antisemitism. in what world is being against a century of violent occupation calling for the death of israeli citizens, esp children? we’re all pretty fucking clear on the idea that isis does not stand for all muslims, right, or that westboro baptist doesn’t speak for all christians? being against an ethno-state does not mean being against the ethnicity/ethno-religion. it means being against the state. learn about 9/11 and iraq, about the way that muslims were treated in the states (and continue to be treated). learn about six year old muslim child in illinois who was killed this weekend, whose death was in no small part influenced by the anti-palestinian propaganda that is getting shoved down american throats. (i can’t speak for the rest of the world but i doubt the coverage is much different.) why is it so hard to say “civilians shouldn’t die, regardless of side, and also apartheid is bad and should stop.” caring about jewish lives and wanting to end the occupation of palestine are not mutually exclusive, and to imply otherwise paints palestinians as inherently evil. that’s bad. we all understand why that’s bad right.

noah’s post is not an excuse to be homophobic and antisemitic.

criticizing the very tangible impact of his statement is not homophobic or antisemitic.

like, Reggie finds out her dad is actually just her stepdad that stepped up and her dad is a now-dead millionaire and she's her grandmother's long desired heiress her father failed to mention before he was murd— dropped dead.

oh and she's in love with her best friend's dad's best friend, who is realistically old enough to be her dad, but is insanely attractive and sweet to her (unlike men her age).

so tell me all your oc's lore outside of the main storyline. I'm 99% sure all of us combined have better storytelling skills than SSE and could easily come up with something to help them improve a bit.

I'm a very oldschool (read: old) cat, so I was there when the very first online games / MMORPGs hit the early internet. From BBSes to games on AOL and Compuserve to Neopets to watching my oldest kiddo playing and loving "Monkey Quest..."

Technology improved over the years and the titles kept getting larger, the userbase having more ways to feel connected - Huge communities grew. Communities that had serious bonds, with the games providing them with IRL buddies, bestest of friends, and even partners. Because of the actual human connections these titles created, they became seriously important.

Now, consider all of that. Have you or anyone you know ever played one of those type of games and then suffered the heartache when a company decides to shut the service down or completely ditches the game, leaving it to fall apart? The emptiness of going to a login screen to see that the servers will never be turned on again - That's a crushing letdown, especially if you never got to properly say "Goodbye."

I mentioned Monkey Quest earlier because my kiddo adored it (and I often watched them play it). It was a really badass lil' platformer with tons of quests and surprising crossovers like the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers. It was also my kid's first experience with a "friends list." I'll never forget how bummed out they were when they found out that Nickelodeon was shuttering it and they realized they'd never get to experience that part of their childhood again. Of course, fans tried to resurrect it years later, but those projects disappeared again due to legal threats, much like Club Penguin.

To help with the parting sadness and to preserve a serious dose of nostalgia, I've decided to start rescuing the music out of online games like this that no longer exist (or have been left to join the choir invisible) and release them as soundtracks. And, wouldn't you know? I put together one for Monkey Quest first. :)

As more games pass the 15+ year old date (what I consider "retro") or are killed off / abandoned by their companies, more soundtracks will be added with an announcement here in Tumblr.

If I've left out any online games that fit these two descriptions, please let me know and I'll consider adding them to this collection!
