Hi hi then! I must admit, I'm not doing particularly well. I've just returned from a hospital stay after a plethora of unfortunate coincidences occurred :') but I suppose it's not all bad – I probably wouldn't engage with this fandom at all if it weren't for it. Just recently I've reread the book and watched the 2022 movie, so when boredom kicked in, I figured I could spend my days browsing tumblr and chatting on discord.

I'm more than delighted to know there's others seeing the possibilities between the two!! Mh, I'm guessing a reason for this ship's pitifully small amount of enjoyers could be due to the 2022 movie (which I don't like too much), as they completely removed Franz and sort of replaced him with Ludwig. And really, the only character Paul interacts with in that movie is Kat- so yeah... It's not like I despise Paul x Kat or anything, the age gap just makes it feel a lot more like a close platonic relationship than a truly romantic one, imo.

I still remember reading Franz's death scene for the first time, it's truly peak writing quality and filled with so much melancholy. Then during my reread, I noticed how he's kinda gay-coded?? I'm not sure if it's the same for translated versions, but in the German version there's this passage going "He's a bit like a girl" and I'm like??? There's so many instances where he's depicted as feminine, JUST SAY HE'S FRUITY AF. So I guess the overall melancholic vibe of the scene and the proximity between the two just lead to me shipping them, though I'm also really fond of Paul x Albert.

The most important people in my life are my friends and my family. I have grown up along with my friends as well as serving on the front with them. This makes my relationship with my friends so meaningful to me. One of the most agonizing events during the war was witnessing the demise of my friends. For example, Franz Kemmerich’s death would be the death to start them all. I remember feeling detached for the first time and saddened, little did I know that this was only the beginning. As more as my friends fell, the more disconnected I felt with my surroundings. When a substantial amount of my friends died, my friend Stanislaus Katczinsky became injured. I was dead set on getting Kat to safety, but I was too late. Kat had been struck by a bullet in the back of the head and had died on the way when I was carrying him to a medical camp. I felt that Kat’s death was uncalled for and sudden, and I feel like I’m next.

i watched the 1979 all quiet tonight and it was so good!!! very very similar to the 1930 one but i like the bird concept instead of the butterfly. thinking of paul as an artsy kid makes my art student heart happy <33 the actor for kropp in that movie forever has my heart too, he's such a cutie.
