RTS game that is split into two sections. The first section is a bunch of no-build missions that familiarize you with all the units without having to worry about macro. They center around infiltrating enemy bases or attacking with small strike forces to complete certain objectives.
The second section is all macro missions where you play the main army. Every mission story-wise takes place at the same time as the no-build missions you already did, and the parameters of the mission change based on your actions in the first section. A timed defense mission where you have to hold out for as long as it took you to complete the no-build counterpart. An assault mission where the enemy's insurmountable defenses go down one by one in the order and timing that you sabotaged them in the first section. Enemies get extra reinforcements if you failed to complete certain bonus objectives, etc.
The main issue I see with this is balancing the effects of section one. You don't want a player to do so well in the first section that the benefits trivialize the second section, but you also want to make sure the benefits are noticeable and feel impactful.

Awaiting orders.
A simple little caricatured image of a star wars Venator class Star Destroyer, waiting over Coruscant to be deployed against the Separatist federation. Enjoy!
