Flula Borg presents: '90s nostalgia.
The 90s, we knew them well; 'twas the one decade to rule them all. The Simpsons was as good as it has ever been. Princess Diana stole our hearts. For reasons still unclear, our species decided to clone a sheep, whom we christened Dolly. Bill Clinton was out and about. Kids and adults alike would escape reality for the havens of the Super Nintendo, PlayStation, Nintendo 64, or Game Boy Color. The McMansion became a mainstay of American architecture. The Cool S reigned supreme.
Generation X were able to enjoy the cultural fruits of rave, grunge, Britpop, hip hop, drum and bass, and Eurodance. And it was a golden era, perhaps the golden era, of the sitcom: The Fresh Prince, Cheers, Seinfeld, Family Matters, Married... with Children. These were days to kick back in an armchair, complete with a built-in refrigerator, and watch and watch every last hour of the finest television our species has to offer. It was a tall ask, but someone had to do it.
Fortunately, that man is very tall, German, and very funny. His name is #flula borg. You know him, more likely than not. And he has most graciously plucked some achingly 90s delights from the dashboard, for your viewing pleasure.

Next month is the annual exhibitor showcase Cinemacon where movie studios tout their wares for the very anxious theater owners.
Tumblr media
It has already been announced that Sony is sitting this year out, so no info on VENOM 3: THE LAST DANCE, to be released October 25, 2024.
Tumblr media
While I assume there will be some changes to the lineup, so far it is shaping up to be:
OPENING DAY: International Day features a screening of Universal 80s series remake THE FALL GUY starring Ryan Gosling, Emily Blunt, Hannah Waddingham and Aaron Taylor-Johnson (who has said in a recent interview that it is a small role) ; directed by David Leitch (BULLET TRAIN, DEADPOOL 2)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
DAY ONE: WB pulls up with their presentation "The Big Picture". It will be the first Cinemacon for James Gunn in his position as Co-Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of DC Studios.
I expect a song and dance from Gunn about how awesome sauce the new DC film universe will be
I'll believe it when I see it.
Sure to tease SUPERMAN LEGACY which stars David Corenswet as the title character, Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane and Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor.
Tumblr media
JOKER: FOLIE A DEUX, BEETLEJUICE, BEETLEJUCE
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
MORE STUDIO OFFERINGS
Also, FURIOSA: A MAD MAX SAGA
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
, the supernatural horror film THE WATCHERS, directed and written by Ishana Night Shyamalan, daughter of M. Night
Tumblr media
, M. Night Shymalan's TRAP starring Josh Hartnett, ALTO KNIGHTS with Robert DeNiro playing a dual role.
Certainly don't expect anything to hear about THE BATMAN sequel other than it won't shoot until 2025. There has been no reason provided, but some say there isn't even a script, others say it was because there were no soundstages available in London to shoot this year.
DAY TWO: ANGEL STUDIOS - The outfit behind SOUND OF FREEDOM.
I suspect they will tease SIGHT starring Greg Kinnear and BONHOEFFER (aka GOD'S SPY) about German theologian Dietrich Bonhoeffer, starring August Diehl, Flula Borg and Clarke Peters.
LIONSGATE: I suspect they will tease Guy Ritchie's THE MINISTRY OF UNGENTLEMANLY WARFARE starring a pick-a-mix of men for all tastes - Henry Cavill, Alan Ritchson, Alex Pettyfer, Henry Golding and Hero Fiennes Tiffins
Tumblr media
; the action-thriller BOY KILLS WORLD fronted by Bill Skarsgård and costarring Sharlto Copley, Andrew Koji (who is working like mad), Famke Janssen and Isaiah Mustafa.
Tumblr media
Surely, another Bill Skarsgård film THE CROW with fka Twigs
Tumblr media
; THE STRANGERS: CHAPTER 1, which is the third film in the franchise - doing a bit of FAST AND THE FURIOUS mathing. It stars Madelaine Petsch, Froy Guittierez and Gabriel Basso
At long last the BALLERINA has pliete into the spotlight. This JOHN WICK spinoff stars Ana De Armas, with Anjelica Huston reprising her role from JOHN WICK 2. It's direct by Len Wiseman who directed the UNDERWORLD films starring his ex-wife Kate Beckinsale.
BORDERLANDS, an action-comedy based on the game, brought to the screen by Eli Roth. Starring Kevin Hart, Jamie Lee Curtis, Jack Black, Cate Blanchett, Haley Bennett and Édgar Ramírez, amongst others.
Tumblr media
and WHITE BIRD, which is in the same universe as the excellent children geared film WONDER. It was due to come out in 2023 but was pushed back due to the actors strike.
Tumblr media
UNIVERSAL / FOCUS FEATURES: I suspect teases for Dev Patel's directorial debut MONKEY MAN. The film was originally slated to go to Netflix but Jordan Peele, under his Monkey Paw shingle, bought it and took it to Universal so it could have a theatrical release. *Granted, Netflix does a theatrical release for most of their films in certain markets, but I get Peele's rationale.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Their Monsters Universe theatrical idea didn't work, but Universal has realized there is more than one way to skin a cat. They are creating a Universal Monsters themed area at their parks and their monster/horror film ABIGAIL is a re-imaging of DRACULA'S DAUGHTER. It stars Alisha Weir, Melissa Barrera and Dan Stevens and features Angus Cloud in one of his last roles.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
THE FALL GUY most definitely will have a place. Same with THE BIKERIDERS (with Austin Butler, Tom Hardy, Jodie Comer, Norman Reedus, Mike Faist, etc.), which was a 20th Century (Disney owned) Film, and even though it was the first major film out the gate ahead of Oscars/Golden Globes' FYC season with a screening and Q&A held in L.A., the studio purposely stalled the engine and towed it off their schedule. It will now be distributed by Focus Features in the U.S., and Universal, internationally.
Tumblr media
Other possible teases? DESPICABLE ME 4, TWISTERS, the standalone sequel to the 90s film TWISTERS
Tumblr media Tumblr media
, horror film SPEAK NO EVIL starring James McAvoy and Mackenzie Davis
Tumblr media
, WICKED: PART ONE and Sir Ridley Scott's GLADIATOR 2 with Paul Mescal and Pedro Pascal.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
There will also be a surprise screening; studio unknown.
DAY THREE: PARAMOUNT: Expected: the mixed live-action and animated comedy IF starring Ryan Reynolds, written/directed and produced by John Krasinski.
Tumblr media
A QUIET PLACE: DAY ONE, GLADIATOR 2 (though this is a co-production with Universal, so maybe Uni will tout it), SONIC THE HEDGEHOG 3, the unending production that is MISSION IMPOSSIBLE 8,
WALT DISNEY: Possible: THE FIRST OMEN, KINGDOM OF THE PLANET OF THE APES
Tumblr media
, MOANA 2, INSIDE OUT 2, DEADPOOL 3, ALIEN: ROMULUS, CAPTAIN AMERICA: BRAVE NEW WORLD and SNOW WHITE.
CinemaCon always closes out with their awards (which always ties into an upcoming release. Funny how that works.
So far the honourees are:
Star of the Year - Lupita Nyong'o (A QUIET PLACE: DAY ONE)
Breakthrough Performer of the Year - Joseph Quinn (A QUIET PLACE: DAY ONE)
Tumblr media
CinemaCon Vanguard Award - Amy Poehler (INSIDE OUT 2)
Director of the Year - Shawn Levy (DEADPOOL AND WOLVERINE)

New Episode Descriptions
DuckTales “The Split Sword of Swanstantine!”
(7:00-7:30 P.M. EDT)
The kids pair off to find the missing pieces of a mystical sword hidden throughout a marketplace unless F.O.W.L. gets to them first.
*Flula Borg (“Pitch Perfect 2”) guest stars as Spice Baron. John Hodgman (“The Tick”) and Jason Mantzoukas (“The League”) return as John Rockerduck and Steelbeak, respectively.
DuckTales “New Gods on the Block!”
(7:00-7:30 P.M. EDT)
The kids try to prove themselves by auditioning to take Zeus’ place amongst the Greek gods, while Storkules interferes with Donald and Daisy’s date.
*Tress MacNeille (“The Simpsons”), Michael Chiklis (“The Shield”) and Chris Diamantopoulos (“Silicon Valley”) return as Daisy, Zeus and Storkules, respectively.
This is going to be hilarious, Donald and Daisy going on a date and Storkules interferes.
DuckTales “The First Adventure!”
(7:00-7:30 P.M. EDT)
Scrooge is forced to babysit young Donald and Della as they go on their first adventure to find a powerful artifact, unaware that Bradford is taking on this mission personally.
This looks like it’s going to be sweet episode and I had a feeling that this was going to be flashback and it had something to do with Della and Donald going on there first adventure with Scrooge. I wonder if we will finally see Hortense and Quackmore.
DuckTales “The Fight for Castle McDuck!”
(7:00-7:30 P.M. EDT)
A bitter feud between Scrooge and his sister, Matilda, spreads to the rest of the family as Phantom Blot attempts to steal a priceless artifact and destroy Castle McDuck once and for all.
*Michelle Gomez (“Doctor Who”) guest stars as Matilda McDuck and Giancarlo Esposito (“Breaking Bad”) returns as Phantom Blot.
This looks like this is going to be an intense episode but is this another flashback which is connected to the last episode or is it happening in the present and we finally get to see Matilda but it she with F.O.W.L. I can’t wait for this one.
DuckTales “How Santa Stole Christmas!”
(7:00-7:30 P.M. EDT)
Scrooge teams up with his archrival, Santa Claus, to save Christmas, while Webby discovers the true history behind their infamous feud.
*Hugh Bonneville (“Downton Abbey”) guest stars as Santa Claus.

Just finished watching Suicide Squad
and I gotta say I was absolutely surprised by how much I genuinely enjoyed that movie
it was a lot of fun to watch and I really enjoyed the characters and plot
it managed to capture that feel that makes Assault on Arkham also a really great Suicide Squad movie: it has fun with bad guys doing good things (though I think I will just slightly prefer Assault on Arkham simply because it managed to do the one thing no other DC property has done so far: it presents a version of the Joker that I am actually afraid of)
gonna go a little bit more in-depth below the cut so beware spoilers
I really loved that fake out opening
I’m personally not one for trailers, in fact, I tend to despise them so I didn’t know much about the movie going in beyond that King Shark was going to be there and Harley in a dress with the (finally) black-and-red theme
(I tend to watch the very first teaser trailer and then try not to see anything else since a lot of trailers are in the bad habit of giving too much away)
But yeah, so I didn’t expect for most of the opening cast to die, particularly with actors such as Michael Rooker and Flula Borg that have become iconic for their own reasons
(the Weasel also really cracked me up, I loved it so much)
Gonna mourn Captain Boomerang though, I would have loved to see him interact with some of the other characters later on
Still loved the core group we ended up with
I could have done without the (minor) romance plot for Harley, but I did enjoy her speech about red flags in dudes so overall I didn’t really mind and watching Harley rescue herself was really, really good
also very minor, but I loved how it showed her going for the comfortable, steady boots
Also loved Bloodsport’s and Peacemaker’s rivalry and how it ended
(Bloodsport was such a mood throughout the movie, oh dear, plus I always enjoy Idris Elba getting to fuck shit up)
And I really enjoyed Peacemaker’s and Flag’s juxtaposition of morals
(gonna mourn Flag too)
And I absolutely loved Flag wanting to rescue Harley and Harley being surprised that he wanted to
give.harley.good.male.friends.2021!
And Ratcatcher 2, damn, she was so sweet, and kind, particularly for a criminal, and particularly in regards to Nanaue
AND NANAUE! Goddamn, I absolutely adored him, and the kind of simplicity his character had
AND Polka-Dot Man, his mom-vision cracked me up so hard again and again, particularly in the end... and maybe it’s mean but I did kinda expect him to die at some point?
Also I really, absolutely adored Waller getting knocked out by her employees, and them helping the squad; I really, really fucking loved that so much
There are a million things more I could talk about, but I think that sums up the core feelings I had

Moses Sumney; Photo by Lauren Naylor
BY JORDAN MAINZER
A free show, welcome returns, and a newfound holiday tradition.
Kelela & Moses Sumney, Lincoln Hall
Kelela & Moses Sumney play a free show tonight at Lincoln Hall. We previewed both in our Pitchfork Music Festival pre-coverage (and their latest full-length albums made our top albums of 2017, at #s 31 and 22, respectively):
“After breaking out with her 2013 mixtape Cut 4 Me, Kelela finally released the brilliant, fully formed statement we’ve all waited for from her. Take Me Apart is an album about ending one relationship and going into another–territory that’s not original for an album but important because it’s immensely personal, celebratory of queer black self-love on songs like 'LMK' and 'Altadena'. She somehow makes dubstep and trap beats sound subdued and sexy, her ethereal voice the perfect complement to bubbling synth and bass.”
“Moses Sumney is a once-in-a-lifetime singer. Not because he can shatter glasses or anything–though he probably could–but because he can take abstract concepts like capitalism and the hetero-normative nature of romantic love and make you feel like you’ve experienced them on a concrete level even if you haven’t, all through the sheer beauty of his voice and strumming of his guitar. The potential for quietest, most heartbreaking moment of the festival will come when he sings 'Doomed' off of last year’s Aromanticism: 'Am I vital / If my heart is idle? / Am I doomed?'”
Since then, they’ve both remained active. Kelela has released a remix album for Take Me Apart and may perform the remixed versions of her songs tonight. And Sumney’s released not one but two EPs: Make Out in My Car: Chameleon Suite and Black in Deep Red, 2014, the latter of which contains stunning protest song “Rank & File”.
Wild Pink, Empty Bottle
New York heartland rockers Wild Pink have added a keyboard to their live show to complement their newly expansive sound on latest record Yolk in the Fur. They played the Bottle last month around the time we interviewed them about the new record, and they’re coming back to Chicago in January, so if you don’t see them tonight, you’ll have another chance very soon.
Portland duo The Helio Sequence headline. Chicago shoegaze band Lightfoils also opens.
Tech N9ne, House of Blues
We previewed Tech N9ne’s House of Blues show back in June:
“Divisive and lyrically dexterous Kansas City rapper Tech N9ne comes around pretty often, but like Los Lobos, that’s reason for me to always say 'I’ll catch them next time.' Eventually, you just need to bite the bullet. Albums like All 6′s and 7′s and Something Else cemented him as an ambitious rapper who can succeed when working with big concepts and other mega rappers, while recent albums like Planet and Special Effects have showed he can be a hit-maker. He’s got 20 albums to his name and a ton of other EPs. Not everything he produces is quality, but he’s pretty prolific.”
Since then, he’s released the N9NA Collection 1 mixtape, a preview of his new record out next year.
Rappers Dizzy Wright and Futuristic open.
Team Coco Presents Conan & Friends, Chicago Theatre
Late night comedian Conan O’Brien on his current tour Conan & Friends: An Evening of Stand-Up and Investment Tips. He’s been joined by different comedians each night. Tonight’s show features Ron Funches, Taylor Tomlinson, James Veitch, and Flula Borg.
A John Waters Christmas, Thalia Hall
What is there more to say? John Waters brings his Christmas special show on tour every year (it started in 1996!), and I’d be remiss not to include it.

German Comedians You Need To Know
No, this title is not the joke itself. We are VERY aware that Germans are not associated with humor, but it might surprise you to know that there are a fair amount of German comedians out there. From political commentators to song-writers, there is a little bit of something for everyone. Here’s our list of German comedians you need to know!
Flula Borg
Let’s start off with someone you may already know. Flula is a German comedian here in the United States who pokes fun at German cultural norms and language. One of his most successful video series is “German with a German” where he questions the logic behind and acts out German words and phrases. He has also frequented the stage of Conan O’Brien and was in the most recent Pitch Perfect movie.
youtube
Otto Waalkes
Otto is a little old school but the hero of our childhoods. Often spoofing already well-known characters like Little Red Riding Hood or playing the part of multiple people, he was equal parts actor, musician, and comedian. One of his most famous features was the 'Ottifanten' ('Ottiphants'), elephant-like comic characters of his own design.
Tumblr media
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yeq5ULcqhPE
Anke Engelke
Best known for her regular appearances on Die Wochenshow (German version of Saturday Night Live) or the sketch comedy show Ladykracher, Anke Engelke has also given voice to some of the most famous cartoon characters in their German versions--such as Dory in Finding Nemo or Marge in The Simpsons.
youtube
Jan Böhmermann
Jan Böhmermann is a political satirist and host of the well known show Neo Magazine Royale. Think of him as the German Seth Meyers. "If your intentions are clear and your motives are clear, you can make fun of anything," he said.
Tumblr media
https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=147&v=97XSh2t5weI
Jürgen von der Lippe
Jürgen von der Lippe (stage name) is German television presenter, entertainer, actor and comedian. Similar to American comedians like Demetri Martin or Adam Sandler, he intermittently breaks out his guitar for comedic song during his performances.
youtube
Ilka Bessin
Having won the German equivalent of Last Comic Standing in 2004, Bessin’s career as a comedian and actress began later than some. She’s best known for playing the character Cindy aus Marzahn, Marzahn being a blue collar town in East Germany, on her own comedy show.
youtube
Bastian Pastewka
Bastian Pastewka is another alumni of the sketch comedy show Die Wochenshow. His trademarks included quirky, off-beat characters such as talk show host Brisko Schneider and Ottmar Zittlau, an unemployed, sweatsuit-wearing dimwit.
Tumblr media
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JoVIRCee4uE
Kaya Yanar
Born to Turkish immigrants, Kaya Yanar is a German comedian, best known for his one-man comedy show Was guckst du?! (What’re you looking at?!) He can even perform stand up in multiple languages!
youtube
Vicco von Bülow, a.k.a. Loriot
Last, but not least the all-time favorite: Loriot who has entertained generations of Germans with his subtle and self-deprecating humor in various sketches and movies.

The Suicide Squad: Inside James Gunn’s DCEU Supervillain War Movie
https://ift.tt/3ywaJGW
In November 2019, I found myself in the middle of a war zone. Well, the closest approximation of a war zone I’ve ever found myself in during my time visiting the sets of blockbuster movies. If I had been brought to this particular set in Atlanta on a sunny autumn afternoon without knowing what movie it was that I was supposed to be getting a peek at, the scene presented to a group of journalists probably would have convinced me that this was some new war movie or straight up action blockbuster, and not one that features a collection of DC villains and antiheroes at its core.
The set in question is called “Jotunheim” and it’s apparently an objective Task Force X needs to conquer in The Suicide Squad. But for all intents and purposes, this could be the kind of Nazi fortress that the gritty characters of movies like The Dirty Dozen or Where Eagles Dare need to conquer, whether or not they get out alive. That’s no accident, according to director James Gunn.
“A lot of the film is within the genre of war caper films,” Gunn tells reporters later that day, specifically referencing The Dirty Dozen, Kelly’s Heroes, and others. “It’s not really something that’s existed for a long time, but in the late 60s that was one of the most vibrant genres of the world. [We wanted to] kind of … add on to it with The Suicide Squad.”
There’s no sign of Margot Robbie’s Harley Quinn, Idris Elba’s Bloodsport, or any of the other oddball DC characters at the center of Gunn’s newest movie as we stroll the Jotunheim set. Whatever wild action took place here seems to have been resolved long before our arrival. But the evidence is everywhere and it must have been one hell of a fight.
From the decrepit guard tower and busted fence at the perimeter to the entrance of Jotunheim (which has a massive hole blasted in it) is probably a distance of 100 meters or so. And virtually every inch of that shows the scope of whatever took place here: burnt out bunkers, overturned and semi-destroyed jeeps, sandbagged guard stations, and so much debris, a mixture of real rocks and carved foamcore and plywood “masonry.”
“It’s a giant construction project” producer Peter Safran jokes about the number and scale of practical sets that have been built for The Suicide Squad. “The idea is to do as much practically as we possibly could.”
That reliance on practical sets and effects wherever possible is a theme that keeps coming up throughout the day as we tour sets and look at production artwork, scale models, weapons, and more.
“We built literally three football fields of a set and that’s so unusual in this day and age,” production designer Beth Mickle says of Jotunheim. “You just never do that. We wanted to have real rubble behind them in the battle sequences, and we wanted to see the building that they’re attacking. For that scene to exist in a film today is just highly unusual. And we’ve done that set and then a dozen others of that scale, so it’s incredible.”
Both the war movie vibe and the love of practical effects are very much in evidence on another set, a convincing indoor recreation of a jungle with a guerilla camp nestled in the middle of it. There’s dirty laundry hanging, filthy pots strewn around, a crumpled pack of cigarettes, and a half empty bottle of watery beer…and what appear to be bloody chunks of skull and assorted viscera littering the grass. Like Jotunheim, something went down here, and whatever it was, it wasn’t pretty.
The Characters of The Suicide Squad: Meet Task Force X
It all stands in almost stark contrast to the wacky assortment of brightly-colored characters that make up the actual team. The concept art and costume tests for these characters were suitably colorful and wildly offbeat, and it’s almost hard to make this line up with the gritty, war movie vibes of the Jotunheim and jungle sets. But storyboards reveal a nighttime action sequence on a beach, with the Squad invading the fictional nation of Corto Maltese, and were it not for the colors and unique designs of the characters wreaking havoc, this too would be evocative of just about anything other than a superhero movie.
A production office is papered with life sized posters of Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie), Captain Boomerang (Jai Courtney), Peacemaker (John Cena), King Shark (performed by Steve Agee and voiced by Sylvester Stallone…although we don’t know that at the time), Blackguard (Pete Davison), Savant (Michael Rooker), Mongal (Mayling Ng), Weasel (Sean Gunn), The Thinker (Peter Capaldi), Ratcatcher 2 (Daniela Melchior), Javelin (Flula Borg), Amanda Waller (Viola Davis), Rick Flag (Joel Kinnaman), TDK (Nathan Fillion), and Bloodsport (Idris Elba).
Looming large is also Idris Elba’s ominous, armored character who we now all know as Bloodsport, but who the studio remained cagey about identifying during this set visit for some reason, leaving reporters to speculate on the identity of the badass in blue, black, and gold. Between the color scheme, the armor, and an impressively intimidating assortment of weapons left out on a table for reporters to ogle as it’s explained that each weapon transforms into or folds out of each other, speculation about Bloodsport ends up occupying a fair amount of the downtime between interviews.
So what exactly could possibly hold such a motley crew together?
“You have to remember that all either have been wrongfully accused or done horrible, morally wrong things,” John Cena says. ”You can see the good in people, you can also see the evil in people… All of these people have real bad personality problems. So I think when you get that type of group together, that’s what makes it fun. Everybody is kind of different. But I think criminals see criminals, they just size everybody up. I think every one of them is like, ‘how is this person going to stab me in the back?’ That’s the world they come from.”
Cena is playing the authoritarian Peacemaker, a character who sees himself very differently than many other members of the Squad do. But the actors behind two of the stranger characters in the film, offer some additional perspective on the team dynamic.
“There’s people in this story that really want friendships, and people that don’t want anybody near them, just like all of us,” says David Dastmalchian, who plays Polka-Dot Man. “I think all of us have felt at times like we are totally disposable to either our employers or society or you name it. So that’s been interesting, in the relationship [between the characters] with the dynamic that starts to build or break down.”
“These are all characters that for the most part, probably don’t even know the existence of the other ones,” Steve Agee says. “Some of them do, and it’s the story of The Suicide Squad. They are forced to be together, and do this task, this mission. So, part of the story is just watching these people adapt to being around each other.”
Flula Borg (who gave journalists a rambling, uproariously funny interview about his character which you’ll see more of on DoG soon enough) spoke about how his character relates to Viola Davis’ team leader, Amanda Waller.
“Judging from all the relationships that Javelin has I would say poor, non-existent, unhealthy, crosses lines, should consider not interacting with other humans,” Borg says. “Javelin doesn’t worry about how people treat him. He treats them … What’s the golden rule? He has the Javelin rule, which is like ‘suck it, I’m cool.’ I think that’s his rule.”
Even here with the characters, the commitment to practical effects is strong, especially in areas where you’d fully expect them to rely on CGI. For example, Daniela Melchior, who plays Ratcatcher 2, has a little helper rat named Sebastian. While the hordes of rats the character is capable of commanding will necessitate CGI, at least some of the rats are real.
“We have three female rats [that play Sebastian],” Daniela Melchior says about the um…practical rats that the movie is using. “It’s a little bit distracting sometimes because I have to act lazy and tired like I don’t give a shit about whatever is happening… and I’m just like, ‘come here.’ But she doesn’t want to come, she wants to find new places and go, so we’re like, ‘okay, we’ll try one time with the rats, we’ll see what happens.’”
And when one of the rats playing Sebastian doesn’t want to do as they’re told, only then does the movie revert to CGI to get the desired “performance” from the furry co-star.
“I don’t know if I can say this,” Melchior says conspiratorially. “But actually, [some of the cast] are a little bit afraid of rats…I’m always trying to say ‘look, she’s so sweet, she wouldn’t hurt you.’”
From Suicide Squad 2 to The Suicide Squad
Like the characters themselves, The Suicide Squad has something of a rough past. The first movie failed to become the surefire franchise-starter the studio hoped for in 2016, and while a Suicide Squad 2 was put into development almost immediately, it wasn’t until Gunn became available that the project finally solidified.
“There was no plan before James,” Safran says. “There were other writers that had worked on various Suicide Squad scripts over the years, but… this was starting from ground zero, starting from scratch. All the characters that he selected were just characters that he was a fan of and wanted to play with. I think, in typical fashion for James, he picks more obscure characters…he liked the idea of being able to take these characters and imbue them with whatever characters he really wanted, or characteristics that he really wanted to play with.”
One of the “characteristics” Gunn wanted was to truly tap into the spirit of DC’s long-running and beloved Suicide Squad comics of the 1980s, which were co-created and stewarded by Jon Ostrander.

“I don’t think of it so much as an interpretation of what Ostrander wrote but I do think of it as a continuation of what he did,” Gunn says. “It’s very much in line with that. When he was first putting this team together, he was only able to get certain characters. For him, it was the fun of taking these characters that weren’t as well-known and developing them in a real way. And it’s one of the greatest superhero runs of any comic book series.”
(Gunn also notes that Ostrander has a cameo in the film.)
As for whether or not The Suicide Squad is a sequel to or a reboot of the previous film, all involved are both diplomatic and evasive. The official line is that any characters that were together in the previous film do already know each other, but as for the actual events of the 2016 movie, that’s where things get murky.
“We just don’t address it any tangible form,” Safran says. “Yes, they’re the characters and actors that played them in the first movie, but we really wanted to make sure that this stands on its own two feet. It’s not a sequel, but there are some characters that were in the first movie, so it’s not really a full reboot either. So we just call it James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad.”

Inside Jotunheim
Later in the day, journalists are taken inside Jotunheim via soundstage, an indoor construction that appears almost as sprawling as the outdoor set. As we saw outside, the remnants of what was likely a furious battle are all around. A stuntman in full Peacemaker gear is hanging around as we see Robbie’s Harley, Dastmalchian’s Polka-Dot Man, and Agee as King Shark (“the studio is trying to play down the whole Polka-Dot Man/King Shark universe they’re building,” Dastmalchian jokes) make their way through the rubble. Elba’s Bloodsport isn’t visible, but we’re assured he’s part of the scene.
While it’s Sylvester Stallone voicing King Shark in the film, it’s Agee on set here, wearing a grey mo-cap suit with the kind of padding you see on MLB umpires and somewhat shark-shaped wire headgear. He also appears to be holding a skull.
Harley, however, is wearing the ornate red dress glimpsed in the trailer (although it’s somewhat the worse for wear at the moment). As she navigates the carnage in Jotunheim, Gunn calls out for Robbie to “hum a little tune.” She does just that, conjuring exactly the kind of aimless musical free-association you’d expect from a mind like Harley Quinn in the midst of battle.
“Harley’s been through some things as you can see by this point in the film,” Robbie says to reporters between takes. When it’s noted that Harley’s baseball bat, a fixture in the previous film, is nowhere to be found in this scene, she jokes “My baseball bat is back home in LA, next to my bed, in case anyone breaks in…I’ve got other weapons in this one.”
We don’t get to see these Squad members engaged in any combat during the shooting of this scene, and it’s not clear if this is the interior from the same “entrance” that had seemingly been blasted into the outdoor structure, or somewhere else inside the fortress. But the clues all point to one thing: like everything else in this movie, where The Suicide Squad goes, destruction and chaos follow.
The Suicide Squad opens in theaters and on HBO Max on Aug. 6. We’ll have more from our set visit in the coming days.

Cooked with Cannabis isn't the  world-class  of its kind, but it is the  Modern  to  overleap  the mark.
On  Monday  (yes,  Gregorian calendar month  20), Netflix  born  all six episodes of its new weed-infused  preparation  competition hosted by "Milkshake" singer-turned-chef Kelis and cannabis   cooking    human   Leather Storrs.  apiece  episode,  leash   computing device  chefs are challenged to  green groceries  a three-course  victuals  of CBD and THC-imbued dishes  test  a pre-set  melodic phrase  ”  curtilage  BBQ, wedding,  pleasure   substance , holidays,  and so forth  ” to be served to the show's hosts and a  empty   piece of furniture  of  honor  "buds." The  cook   can  the   near     magnificent   feeding   mental object  walks  out  with a $10,000 prize.
An  acquisition   ambiance   author   appropriate  to  assuasive   view  noise than riveting entertainment.
A successor to Netflix's 2018  ordination  Cooking on High, Cooked with  ganja  offers  smooth   message  to a  to a great extent  stigmatized  sphere  of  cooking  experimentation. Set in what looks   desire  an Urban Outfitters  fitted out  with  finest  kitchen appliances, the  ordination   bit by bit  introduces information  nearly  the  clever  intersection of  cannabis   and  substance  with  elliptic  explanations on flavor and potency.
The  statement  may  be   basic   to anyone  middling   versed   in the  study  ” sativa vs. indica, what a  liquid  is,  and so forth  ” but it's an  acquisition   ambiance  that capitalizes on the  cannabis   industry's  shine  and modern  approaching  to  commercialism  in newly legalized areas. The result is a chilled-out but tuned-in  ambiance  that feels  desire    reasonable  about   precise  2020  view  noise in the making. rainbow kush cannabis in uk
Of course, that's  lightheaded   value  in a  fine art  as  competitory  as cooking.  although  laden with  cannabis   puns and cloudy-headed mishaps, Cooked with  ganja  runs into the   suchlike    trouble   many a  marijuana-centric shows,  desire  Netflix's  dread   scripted    funniness  Disjointed,  change  faced.
Weed humor is  solid  to  wee-wee   fishy , and even harder to   wee-wee   fishy  to  be  who aren't  presently   spot  or  deed  to be  spot  in the near future. Thing  uproarious  to a  chemical group  of   computing device   justice   leash  THC-heavy courses in is  inferior   entertaining  to a sober  human   invested with  in  sight  the  render  progress. It's an  phenomenon  exacerbated by the series'  irresolute  use of plot-propelling tension.
With   reasonable  about  of the   near    relaxed contestants in the  target  and a  cackle  of  justice  who often  be  too  intoxicated   to  wee-wee   distinguished  calls, the competition bit of Cooked with  ganja  lacks the  rousing  needed to  edict   invested with .  although  dosing is explained clearly, it's  salient  everyone  up to your neck  is  in operation  on a "different"  even  of existence. And  time  it's nice to  lookout man  guests  desire   Michael  Rapaport, Sabrina Jalees, RuPaul's  shamble  Race's Alaska, Elle King, and Flula Borg  savour  a  comforting   victuals , that doesn't  wee-wee  up for an overarching  miss  of stakes.
Stuck between  easy   alchemy  explanations and knowledgable  cannabis   jokes, Cooked with  ganja  can't  be  to  sorting  out what  hearing  it wants. Yes, it's better than  muckle  of others shows  disagreeable  the   suchlike    shtik  (though not  anyplace  near as  benevolent   as VICE's Bong Appétit), but it  reasonable  can't hit the  sweet-smelling   section  needed to  change  the  thought  together.
Unfortunately, it seems Cooked on  ganja  is another  chance  Netflix  lost  to  change  the talents of cannabis  cooks to the masses. But given the  maximizing   availability  and  acceptableness  of  cannabis    cooking , we'll  ever   change  next 420. And all the ones after that.
Cooked with  ganja  is now  transude on Netflix.

Harley Quinn e Groot insieme?

Blue Sky Studios' 'Ferdinand' casts WWE superstar John Cena as a beast with a big heart
WWE superstar John Cena takes on the form of a friendly bull in Blue Sky Studios’ “Ferdinand.”  From blockbuster toonmaker Carlos Saldanha, who also helmed global hits “Ice Age” and “Rio,” comes the story of a beast with a big heart in “Ferdinand,” based on the story of a classic children’s book by Munro Leaf illustrated by Robert Lawson.
“Ferdinand” (Cena) tells the inspiring and joyful story of a giant gentle bull forced into the dangerous arena of bullfighting.  After being mistaken for a dangerous beast, he is captured and torn from his home. Determined to return to his family, he rallies a misfit team on the ultimate adventure. Set in Spain, Ferdinand proves you can’t judge a bull by its cover.
Cena, in recent interviews clearly relates to his character – big but hesitant to fight. “He’s a peaceful bull, people think he’s a fighter because he’s a big bull,” said Cena.
“Ferdinand” voice cast includes (Jane the Virgin’s) Gina Rodriguez as hedgehog Una, Kate McKinnon as goat Lupe,  David Tennant as Angus, Anthony Anderson as Bones, Gabriel Iglesias as Cuatro, Daveed Diggs as Dos, Miguel Ángel Silvestre as El Primero, Sally Phillips as Greta, Flula Borg as Hans, Karla Martinez as Isabella, Boris Kodjoe as Klaus, Raul Esparza as Moreno, Jerrod Carmichael as Paco and Bobby Cannavale as Valiente.
A Blue Sky Studios and 20th Century Fox presentation distributed by Warner Bros. – “Ferdinand” opens in cinemas (Phils.) on Jan. 8, 2018 and will also be available on 3D screens.
