#fluffballs doing cute bananas

Note
Psst Naff, can I offer up two more mer ideas for Orca-Eclipse and his birdies? >:3c
With humpback y/n, imagine Y/N catches wind of some of their pod ganging up to bother a certain Orca. While Eclipse is down to fight, he gets surprised to find himself yoinked to safety and carried away from the baffled whalemers in a turn around of how y/n used to snatch his meals from him. It takes a moment before he slips straight into pleased smugness as y/n teases back that they're just grabbing themselves a little snack.
And for selkie/seal mer with a fluffball baby, y'know Eclipse's 'happy day' motto? What if the seal kid starts teaching Eclipse how to banana pose like happy seals do? Then whenever he greets them, they banana pose back to show they're happy to see him. ;v;
Ohhh, Plum!! Of course, always, babe!
Augh, that's adorable!! The teasing and the swooping in—a little thank you for rescuing Y/N from being breached on the ice! I'm also just chomping on the image of Eclipse oh-so delighted to have Humpback!Y/N at his rescue and tossing in a little flirt! They're supposed to be enemies, but not if Y/N keeps talking like that.
The banana pose!!! Ah, I love that!!
I imagine the first time that selkie Y/N's kid does the banana pose, Eclipse is just ??? another cute seal thing :) but Y/N is overjoyed and ecstatic like "That's her first banana pose! That's her first—oh, my baby!" and it's a really sweet moment they all get to share (after Y/N explains its meaning). Then, whenever the baby grows old enough and understands "Happy day!" the kid is banana posing for her papa every chance she gets and he adores it so much!
For ribbon seal mer Y/N, little baby mer gets to teach and asks Eclipse to do banana poses, which results in a large, terrifying figure of an orca siren being so silly and playful with the kid (baby mer tells Eclipse he doesn't do it very well. He laughs and agrees, but he says he's happy to do it with his little one.) It would also ease seal mer Y/N a lot to see Eclipse so indulgent with your (their) tiny fluffball.

Of animal cafés and favourite authors | Yagi Toshinori
Inspiration: ["This was fun—let's do it again sometime!"]
Category: fluff
1.8k words; how a scheming duo created a nice date
Tumblr media
Yagi Toshinori was experiencing one of the worst moments in his life.
He sipped at his tea, groaning internally at his current predicament. It was supposed to be a relaxing day. He was invited to a visit to an animal café that had opened near his house by his friends/co-workers. (Aizawa scathingly remarked with an "I’m not your friend." before. Yagi could tell that they were becoming closer though. They even shared a drink!) The place was secluded, making it an ideal place for famous people (read: him, whose true, and now only, form had been outed to the world after beating All For One on live TV) to enjoy while not having to worry about people recognising them. Establishments like these weren’t common, so he was looking forward to it even more.
That was his plan. It was going to be nice. It really was. He was going to relax with kittens and puppies and other small adorable animals. He was looking forward to calming down with his colleagues and sharing little anecdotes of teaching that they amassed over the years.
But, instead of that amazingly comfortable and pleasant plan, he was sitting next to a friend of his co-workers who he is a long-time fan of, who was currently making baby sounds at a particularly affectionate kitten. He could hardly even look at your general direction without screaming internally and freaking out, and he knew he was going to blow this for all parties involved.
God, how did I get into this mess?
Tumblr media
"Hey, are you free this Saturday?" Yagi looked up from his laptop to be met with Midnight, her eyes glittering in a happy/mischievous manner. Huh, must be creating another test for the students.
"Yes, I don’t have any prior engagements. Is something the matter?"
"Oh, no, no, no. It’s just that I found an animal café opened up nearby here and was inviting Aizawa when Yamada butted in. That’s why he’s quiet right now." She pointed behind her and Yagi leaned back to see that Aizawa had his quirk activated with a glare that could flay someone alive. Yamada was kneeling while mumbling something along the lines of "I promise I won’t start yelling just as you’re about to fall asleep ever again." Yikes. "And then I thought you should come along too, y’know, enjoy the fluffballs. And," she lowered her voice to a whisper. "if you catch Aizawa on a good day, he smiles." Yagi grinned at that.
"I’ll be happy to join all of you! Is this why you were laughing with Present Mic before?" She stiffened.
"Uh… yep. That was it. We were really excited about this. Animal therapy for the tired mind and all that, y’know? God knows we need it with all the villain attacks. I wanted to blow steam off at a bar or a nightclub, but Mr. Stick-in-the-mud," She pointed at Aizawa. "kept grumbling about how ‘that’s a terrible idea’ when I wasn’t even finished!"
The sleeping-bag bound hero shifted at her words, somehow scowling even more.
"You just want to set this up because you think [Na-"
"AH!" Yamada screamed with his quirk. "SPEAKING OF STICK-IN-THE-MUD, WE NEED TO TALK TO PRINCIPAL NEZU ABOUT THE FIGHTING GROUND AND THE MUD PIT. LET’S GO, LET’S GO!" If glares could kill, the loud hero would already be rotting six feet under. This didn’t faze him this time, and the he dragged Aizawa off along with Kayama, lifting the tired teacher over their shoulders like a log.
Yagi tilted his head in confusion at the sudden exclamation but shrugged it off. They were always quite the odd, but pleasant, bunch. He later received the details of the meeting, along with a p.s which read, "We’re also bringing a friend. I think you guys will hit it off!"
"Huh. Well, the more the merrier. Ah, a text from young Midoriya!"
Tumblr media
In hindsight, that was pretty suspicious. I should have realised something was wrong.
"Yagi-san, I heard from my friends you read some of my works. Is that right?" You asked, detaching your face from the kitten’s tummy and smiling up at him. (It was kind of impossible not to look up at him, what with his impossibly tall stature even when sitting down.) Oh God, you’re so damn adorable.
"Ah, yes, I uh, I particularly liked Courage to Love and be Loved. The way you portrayed the, the aspects of self-love and identity was beautiful. A-and in Fallen, the romance between the characters was so sweet, so beautifully written. I cried so much at the end. Ah, but the mystery and suspense in Written by Camellia was captivating!" He stuttered and rambled on about all his favourites from your short story collection and series with such passion that you felt like you should be writing this down for reference. You were glad someone loved your books so much. He apologised about his enthusiasm and lack of eloquence, emphasising his behaviour is due to the fact that you're his long-time favourite author. (And also because he's infatuated with you but he's never going to say that.) You replied with, I'm your fan too!" (Which made his heart rate spike exponentially and he was sure that you could hear it.)
A café staff interrupted the fanboying with a slice of cake and topped off your drinks. You immediately brightened up at the sweet since you were absolutely craving sugar. You grumbled to your companion about how your editor never lets you eat anything sweet while working because you have a tendency to slink away to enjoy the treat with some Netflix for hours on end. It elicited a small chuckle  from him which you joined in on.
Yagi watched you as your face morphed into bliss, letting out a moan and melting into the sofa. He wondered what it would taste like. He couldn’t remember the taste of something sweet, or zesty. Or anything at all.
You noticed him staring at your cake and slightly pushed it towards him with the fork. He noticed and pointed to himself, as if to say, "You want me to try?" and you nodded.
"Ah, thank you for the offer. But, um, I can’t eat anything particularly sweet. Or just about any food." Your eyes widened at that, and Yagi braced himself for the further explanation required. Instead, you nodded and peered back to where the trio were fooling around. They were trying to see how many cats could be put on Aizawa at once. You could count around 10.
"I see. I know I’m not supposed to use my quirks in public areas since I’m not a pro hero, but can you make one exception Yagi-san?" You asked while extending your hand to him, the other one holding a forkful of cake. Confused, he tentatively took your hand and watched as the cake disappeared into your mouth.
He could taste smooth chocolate, the soft vanilla cream in between the soft and fluffy layers along with fresh strawberries. But his mouth was empty. He whipped his head to you in surprise, a hand covering his mouth.
"How is it?" Expectation was written all over your face. He let out a soft laugh.
"It’s… the most delicious thing I’ve tasted. It’s so sweet but light as well. I… can’t describe it. You give me some of the best writings I’ve ever read and then add this. I can’t thank you enough right now or forever."
You simply smiled, taking another mouthful. Yagi flopped his head onto the sofa, ignoring everything, even the adorable Golden Retriever licking at his hand, and enjoying this sensation.
The rest of the visit was in that position, you stuffing yourself with different desserts so he could understand your predicament of picking a favourite one. (He found out he likes tiramisu.) Conversations flowed, from quirky fans to nice gifts to personal preferences in fashion and artwork. You were so immersed in your talk that the squealing created by Kayama and Yamada, which was quite loud in the staff’s opinion, went unnoticed. They high-fived Slam Dunk style at their success in pairing you two together. Aizawa just sighed, but also smiled underneath his scarf.
Tumblr media
You stayed in the café until closing time, incredibly reluctant to part ways with your new-found, adorably-cute and sweet idol-newly-turned-friend. As the trio walked on ahead—Yamada yelling loudly into the night and immediately being scolded by the other two—Yagi matched his steps to yours. He offered to take you home, and you graciously accepted.
The chatter kept on, ranging from "Did you know that bananas are actually berries?" to "I seriously want to kidnap one of those kitties back in the shop." He laughed boisterously at that, reminding you that while he isn’t a hero anymore, he could still report you. That was met with, "You would help me. I saw how you looked at those puppies." And yeah, you were right. They were just too cute.
"This was fun—let's do it again sometime!" You exclaimed, passing him a piece of paper. "There’s a wonderful ramen place nearby. They have rooms for privacy if you don’t feel comfortable exposing yourself to the public. It's too late today, and I’m really full from the desserts." Yagi stared at the paper, then back at you. It contained your number. "If you… have more free time, I would love to show you what different types of ramen taste like. What do you say?"
He nodded jerkily, brain still trying to understand what was happening. Is she asking me out on a date? No, that’s preposterous. She’s so amazing and talented and I’m just… me now. It must be a friend thing. Midnight, Present Mic and Aizawa will all come. Yep, only explanation. That made an ache bloom in his chest for some reason, but he pushed it way back to somewhere he didn’t even know.
"Great! Oh, this is my house." You went up the steps and unlocked your door, but stopped. You turned back. "I really liked today. It was… just really nice. I hope our next one is like today as well." Standing on your tiptoes, even after three steps, you barely managed to get your arms above his shoulder for a hug. Pulling back, you planted a kiss on his forehead. "M’kay bye!!" And immediately bolted to the safety of your house so he couldn’t see your cheeks burning off.
Yagi brought a hand to his forehead, caressing the spot where you made contact. His brain short-circuited but his legs were moving towards his own house, aware that standing here would raise some attention and suspicion. When he arrived home, he went through his night routine—brushing teeth, washing face, taking medication—and plopped into bed. Then it hit him.
Holy shiiiiiiiiit.

3. Name something you can't live without? | 14. What's your favorite hobby? | 22. What do you do when you procrastinate? | 46. What's your aesthetic? | 50. What's your type? |
Gonna answer this with Akaira, Aldafa, and Echo if that’s okay! (I’ve had some fun talking about my bird baby today, lol) Like last time, answers will be mostly in character unless they just… don’t have much to say about it.3. Name something you can’t live without.
Akaira - “I mean, I really can’t go without my friends. They’ve been too much of a help to me for me to live without them. Even if I lose my old friends, I’m always making more :3″ (And honestly she’s too much of a social butterfly to go completely without friends for long, no matter where she goes)
Aldafa - “…. I can’t live without food. Or water.” Look, she’s not wrong, but honestly she can’t live without some sort of quiet time. Despite being sisters, she’s completely opposite from Akaira. She just doesn’t deal with people well, so if she’s forced to be around them all the time she starts shutting down.
Echo - “Have you EVER tried banana bread?? It’s so good… I don’t think that I could live if I couldn’t have banana bread again T~T”
14. What’s your favorite hobby?
Akaira - “I mean not to be That Bitch™ but I love bouldering, lmao. It’s a fun exercise, usually accompanied by a great view when you reach your destination. And the risk is always exciting (especially if you’re technically climbing a castle ;D)”
Aldafa - “Is… woodcarving a hobby?” (Of course it is hunny, you’re doing great sweetie)
Echo - “Rock collection! Sometimes I also like to make necklaces and cool pendants with things I find on the beach, I like giving them to kiddos on the docks. They’re usually pretty happy about it :)”
22. What do you do when you procrastinate?
Akaira - “Hahahaha… procrastination, what’s that?… I usually just kinda… disappear into the forest for a while. Maybe bring a book with me. Or a towel, if I’m in the mood for swimming. Depends on my mood.”
Aldafa - “I don’t procrastinate.” (She does, she just doesn’t want to admit it.) She usually procrastinates by finding other things that aren’t the thing she’s avoiding. That way she can say that she isn’t procrastinating, she just has other things to do first.
Echo - “Ahaha… honestly I just uh, hide on the roof. Or go for a walk. Might as well catch up with some old friends, right? ;>->”
46. What’s your aesthetic?
Akaira - “Ahh, my aesthetic… I want to believe that it’s something along the lines of ‘elven wood battle princess, but cool’ but. Well, that might not be what comes across. Maybe it’s more like ‘swanky, magical, slightly slutty pirate-of-the-land.’ I can’t say I’d mind that one either, though.”
Aldafa - “……… forest…?” Honestly Aldafa’s woodland dryad aesthetic borders dangerously on ‘murderhobo druid’, even if she doesn’t really mean to turn into that. She just gives off kind of terrifying vibes sometimes.
Echo - “Uhhhh. Cuddly fluffball of stolen warmth? I hope?” Sorry Echo, you’re more like… ‘could be ethereal if she didn’t wear mismatched clothing from 4 different people but also cute and innocent bird’ if I’m being honest. She’s a mess and I adore her.
50. What’s your type?
Akaira - “Honestly darling, all you have to do to be my type is look pretty and be nice to me ;)” (If you’re an asshole with redeemable qualities or a shy child with anxiety issues she has a habit of falling for those types as well)
Aldafa - “I don’t have a type.” (She does) just don’t be too loud or annoying around her and she’ll eventually warm up to the people around her. She can’t stand people who are cruel to others.
Echo - “Oh, I don’t know… I just kinda like everyone, yknow? Everybody has something to like.” To be completely honest, if anyone was to not have a type it would be Echo. She is one to look for redeeming qualities, and rest assured that she will find them… and she’s willing to look past most bad deeds if someone is actually willing to apologize for them.

Things I’m Loving Friday #237
Friday is here and I’m tempted to dub today Furniture Assembly Friday because that’s the main thing I hope to accomplish later this evening. A bunch of our nursery purchases arrived on our doorstep yesterday so we’ve got some work cut out for us this weekend! I hope that by Sunday evening, our new baby’s room looks a little more like a nursery versus the storage area it currently resembles. I’m oddly excited about putting everything together and hope the feeling lasts and isn’t trumped by the frustration that often follows putting together drawer after drawer of a dresser. I’ll be sure to share pics of everything soon!
Now let’s get crackin’ on the usual Things I’m Loving Friday fun around here. Below you will find a list of things that are making me smile this week and, as always, I’d love to hear a little bit about what all of you are loving right now. I hope you are able to spend the extra long Memorial Day Weekend with family and friends and take time to honor and remember the incredibly brave men and women who gave the ultimate sacrifice for our country.
Things I’m Loving Friday
Chase’s Last Day of Preschool
Flashback pic to Chase’s first day of school… Cue all the tears over here!!
Chase’s last day of preschool was Wednesday this week. He had a half-day and then the parents joined the kids at one of his classmates’ houses for a pool party and lots of playtime. We ended up staying out for the better part of the afternoon and Chase had an absolute BLAST. (He had his first experience in a puddle jumper in the pool and I immediately Amazon Primed one the minute we got home.) His two preschool teachers attended the party and I looooved chatting with them and the other parents while our children had the best time together. It was so fun to see Chase interact with the kids I hear so much about day in and day out and I’m so happy that the majority of Chase’s classmates are continuing at his same school next year. I feel incredibly lucky to have found a preschool we adore so much and am trying not to feel too sad about my baby officially completing his first year of preschool. Time is flying!
Baby Sprinkle at Ryan’s Work
Early yesterday afternoon, Chase and I headed off to Ryan’s work for the sweetest baby sprinkle hosted by his coworkers for our family. It was so kind of everyone to think of us and our baby-on-the-way and include Chase in the party. (Chase LOVED going to Dad’s work! When Ryan met us in the lobby he didn’t miss a beat and said, “Hey Dad! Where are your friends? You have a computer?”)
When Ryan told me about his coworkers’ plans, we requested no gifts (the evite actually said “in lieu of gifts, bring treats” – haha!) but everyone was so generous and surprised us with a few things for our baby which was very thoughtful. I also really enjoyed the opportunity to meet some of the people on Ryan’s team. We laughed a lot about our desire to not know the sex of our baby (apparently this is a very uncommon thing among Ryan’s coworkers) and the general consensus among his colleagues is that we’ll be having a girl which was mostly attributed to how high I am carrying our baby. Surprise, surprise! I swear Chase and I are the only two thinking BOY these days.
Hydrangeas
(Apparently Chase’s hair reacts to humidity the same way as his mamas: A wavy fluffball! Haha!)
Shout out to the previous owners of our home for enjoying gardening and planting some lovely flowers all over our yard because it’s the gift that keeps on giving to our family! We have two gorgeous hydrangea bushes that are absolutely thriving right now and just looking out at the beautiful baby blue flowers makes me so happy. Chase and I have been snipping a few hydrangeas here and there to put in small vases around our house and I love the springy look of flowers from our yard in our home. I keep telling myself that I’ll get into gardening… eventually.
Sharing Calm
The last half of this week was a bit bananas, mainly because Chase didn’t nap at all and was clingier, fussier and all around needier than usual. Without his naps to count on, it was hard for me to find time to hit a few work-related deadlines with companies for future blog posts that took me away from my usual in-the-moment blogging. I feel incredibly lucky to be able to work from home but inevitably life gets in the way of work for me and I just have to roll with it even if it can make me feel a little more on edge. (And I currently have NO idea how all of this is going to look when I have two kiddos in the mix but I figured things out with one child so I’ll do it again. Bring on the wonderful chaos!)
Anyway, I share all of that because I found myself feeling more frustrated and impatient than usual this week and kept thinking about the above graphic a friend of mine shared on Facebook a month or so ago. It’s something I’ve found myself thinking about over and over again, especially when I’m in the thick of a toddler meltdown. Though I’ve never been a “yeller” by nature, I notice that Chase responds to me so much better when I take a deep breath and address him in a calm way versus when I allow myself to get frustrated and my voice admittedly gets tense and irritable. At almost three years old, his emotions are BIG and powerful and while it’s not always easy, responding to them calmly makes a huge difference and can help prevent the meltdown from escalating into a full-blown tantrum. Just remembering this simple quote has helped me a lot when I’ve found myself feeling snappy so I had to share it here just in case it is something that resonates with any of you out there, too!
Collapsible Stepping Stool
This handy stool probably should’ve made my list of my Most Used Kitchen Items when I shared that post back in February but it completely slipped my mind. Technically it isn’t something I exclusively use in the kitchen since I cart this bad boy around our house all the time to help me grab things from hard-to-reach high places. It was one of those random purchases I made at HomeGoods that I ended up using a million times more than I ever thought I would! I was the queen of hopping up on counters and unstable stools to grab items off top shelves and this little solution makes it waaay safer for me to reach top shelves. It’s collapsible so I just tuck it into a kitchen cabinet when I’m done. It also comes in handy as a little stepping stool for Chase, especially when he wants to help Mom with blog photos!
