In many ways it’s a spiritual prequel to Elizabeth, the terrific 1998 bio-drama that thrust Cate Blanchett onto the map, even if there were two monarchs between Henry VIII and the Virgin Queen — portrayed here as a sharply observant young woman by bright newcomer Junia Rees, who gets a stunner of a final shot.

girls it's BAAAAD out here. I just watched Firebrand (2023) and I'm in love. Please go out and watch it if you can. If it's available in theaters or streaming or anywhere please watch it. If you're into what I post you'll be into it. Jude Law slays as a Henry VIII that could honestly be Viserys I Targaryen and I wouldn't even mind. Alicia Vikander serves so much cunt.
If you're into Maegor's instability and trust issues as a result of his lack of heirs, watch Firebrand. If you're into Viserys and Alicent's relationship sparking distrust and political conflict, into a king slowly decaying as his grasp around his queen tightens and the queen exchanges her own safety for the chance to have power, watch Firebrand. If you're interested in Tudor era fashion, watch Firebrand. If you're interested in taking historical figures and playing with them through themes as your OCs, watch Firebrand. If you're interested in how tense and fraught the relationship between a king and his self-worth is, and how he must acquire self-worth through submission, watch Firebrand. If you're interested in seeing really silly beards, watch Firebrand. If you want Aegon IV to rail you, watch Firebrand. If you're interested in how Aegon IV might treat Naerys and Daeron, watch Firebrand. If you're interested in how fraught the way you see a king is with how you see a god, watch Firebrand.
It's also gorgeous. And you'll be supporting a Brazilian director who is amazing at his job. please please please stream Firebrand 2023.

Ok, that's MTGinktober for the year, thanks so much for tuning in, I really appreciate it. As is tradition, I'm happy to do one or two requests if anyone's interested in a character I never got to. All right, thanks again, hope to see you next year.

Hi,
I was looking forward to seeing the movie Firebrand here in the US but then found out the book that it is based on the Queen's Gambit by Elizabeth Freemantle portrays Elizabeth badly. Ugh I'm so sick of this. Can't authors try to give all their characters a fair portrayal? Is the movie worth watching or does it villainize Elizabeth?
The Movie only covers the year 1546. Elizabeth is the narrator but isn't villainised. The Movie is focused on Catherine's brush with death.
