i can confidently say, in my 6+ years of being a klance stan, i have never seen anything like this before or since. this fic is AMAZING. completely new idea, hilarious, sweet, and totally untouchable. i’ve always love testing fics that are done right (bc theyre always funny), and does this one ever knock it out of the park! the dynamics are amazing and the rivalry is EXQUISITE. bonus of vietnamese keith and filipino lance, and this one line (it’s a spoiler so im not going to put it here) that actually knocked me out of the water. its about the CHOICE.

i am so fucking in love with aus like this. cowboy or farmboy where theyre quietly in love in their own bubble of the world?? i cannot get enough of them. i would read a million of them. this fic in particular is SO soft and tender, it is so so important to me. ive read it so many times. its one of those fics that brings a smile to your face that u literally cannot fight back

Lance thinks that Prince Keith is just another stuck-up royal with an attitude problem until they spend some time together outside of the palace and he discovers that he couldn't have been more wrong.

Skeles as humans but with all my headcanons and design choices
Because in my eyes they’re all queer as fuck and no one can take that from me
Ink is nonbinary, uses any pronouns, is aroace and from Filipino decent. They’re a tattoo artist, though his own tattoos are actually just henna. They like to do henna at the local ren fair when it’s open. He also does art commissions on the side, when they’re not prepping for various tattoo gigs.
Blue is a cis guy, uses he/him pronouns, is bisexual, and half Hawaiian half Puerto Rican.
Dream is a trans man, uses he/him pronouns, is pansexual, and from Scottish and fae decent. He likes to garden and do photography. He’s currently a free lance photographer.
Error is a cis guy, uses he/they pronouns, is demiromantic and demisexual, and a black American. Despite his rather closed off and almost rude nature, he finds that he enjoys streaming, and has a decent following. He also enjoys crocheting, and sometimes just streams himself crocheting while talking with chat. He brings string alone with him in his coat pocket, and weaves it between his fingers when he’s overwhelmed.
Cross is a cis guy, uses he/him pronouns, is bisexual, and Dominican Puerto Rican. He works as security for Nightmare, though Nightmare technically doesn’t need it, but he has the money and it makes Cross feel better to make sure he’s okay.
Nightmare is genderfluid, uses he/she/they pronouns (in preference order), is queer, and is of Scottish and fae decent. He is also a natural red head like Dream, but dyes his hair black. He’s embarrassed of the red color, which is silly because he looks lovely with red hair. She’s a gothic model, mostly encouraged into it by Dream, but she secretly loves the positive attention.
Dust is a cis guy, uses any pronouns, is pan, and is a mixed black American. He’s incredibly closed off and is pretty paranoid. She gets the shakes pretty bad, especially in her hands. They’re rather cold. But around his two other friends he lightens up a little bit.
Horror is a cis guy, uses he/him pronouns, is bisexual, and a white American. He tries to be friendly and approachable despite his own issues he’s working through. He’s got a few memories issues and a thing about food, but he’s a great friend, and his friends will kill you if you even imply otherwise.
Killer is gender queer, uses he/they pronouns, is omnisexual, and is a mixed Korean American. He comes across as just a chill relaxed guy despite his morbid sense of humor. Though he’s got issues, you’ll be hard pressed to learn of them unless you’re close to him.

After your short but meaningful stay in Japan, you were back home. Sweet Los Angeles, Pao picked you up from the airport, now driving you back home. Honestly, you were surprised that he knew how to drive. Well, closing the fact that he does have his license, it's just that he's growing too fast, and you missed it when he was a baby. Nevertheless, you were happy that your baby boy was big now.
Hours later, you and Pao arrived back home. Pao parked the car with you in your garage, which was filled with many other family-owned vehicles. After parking, you guys head out to go inside the house.
Meanwhile, your father invited not only the drivers but also some of their families. Boy, were you in for a surprise? In the living room, the drivers were already comfortable. The drivers invited were Max Verstappen, Check Perez, Lewis Hamilton, Valterri Bottas, Carlos Sainz, Charles Leclerc, Lando Norris, Daniel Ricciardo, Sebastian Vettel, Lance Stroll, Fernando Alonso, Esteban Ocon, Pierre Gasly, Yuki Tsunoda, Kimi Raikkonen, Antonio Giovinazzi, Nikita Mazepin, Mick Schumacher, Nicholas Latifi, and George Russell.
Along with them, Carlos' father, Charles' brothers, and your grandfather from your father's side, Grandpa Bernard, and your grandfather from your mother's side, Grandpa Diego.
You underestimated the number of men coming for a boy's night.
"You know Daniel, a big congrats on your race win. It was spectacular." Your father chuckles, opening a beer bottle as he sits on the sofa beside his dad, your grandfather, Grandpa Bernard.
"Thank you, Jean, it was nice. It was also nice seeing your family there too. Although I didn't see your daughter, though." Daniel smiles at your father.
"Yeah, we had a fun race; Pao was quite upset about Max and the crash." Your father grins at Daniel, eventually looking at Max and Lewis.
"Awful, but we're still best mates." Lewis laughs it off, wrapping his arm around Max's back and patting it.
"Jean, the boys have been asking if Y/N is single." Kimi laughs hysterically, telling on your father.
"Oh well, don't worry, she's been single for the past two years." Once the other drivers heard that, their eyes shifted to your father, giving them a look of "I can take good care of your daughter, sir." Your father laughed once he saw the looks.
"Ay, no, she is picky with men, though. She has high standards, but I don't know what her type is. Surely Pao knows they're very close." Mark says as he grins at everyone.
"You know, sir, Dutch people are very husband material. I'd very much like to." As Max tried to convince your father, Pierre's whimsical French accent cut him off.
"Ay no, monsieur, the French people are very good with women. Surely, you know that you're French too." Pierre gives your father a charming look, smiling eagerly
"Oh god, stop it, you people!" Fernando rolls his eyes at them, groaning. He was your godfather, so he is protective of you, especially if his co-workers are interested in you.
"Well, whatever it is, I'm good with Y/N dating an F1 driver." Your father chuckles, amused that the drivers were very interested in you.
Moments after that, the front door opened. Pao came in.
"Oh hey, bud, how was the drive back home?" Your father lights up, seeing Pao back home.
"You know the guys." Your father smiles as he eyes the drivers.
"Yeah, yeah, of course." Pao smiles at them, greeting them warmly.
"Max." He smiles, reaching his hand out to shake it.
"You cried." James teases Pao, laughing at the fact Pao did cry.
"Oh, shut up." Pao rolls his eyes, smiling that Max shook his hand back.
"Hey, Pao-" Before you could finish your sentence, your eyes widened as you saw the drivers. You didn't know when they'd come and were caught off guard.
"Dad! You didn't tell they were coming!" You settle your bags down, whining at your father as you look at him dead in the eyes with your hands on your hips.
"What do you mean, honey? I told you right last Saturday." He smiles at you softly, worried at your reaction.
"Yeah! But you didn't tell me what time! Our house is a mess, lo siento. (I'm sorry)" You chuckle nervously as you apologize to Carlos' father and everyone else.
You hurriedly clean up some of the mess on the kitchen counter as Pao sits on one of the stools. While doing so, you couldn't help but feel Carlos' longing gaze. You couldn't see him, but you thought it.
"Now, this is what I mean when her Spanish-Filipino side comes out." Pao Snickers is watching clean up the mess.
The drivers smile as they chuckle at Pao's joke.
"Ay pao! No shoes
You said it without realizing your mother said it to you. Laughing as you see your mother glaring at Pao. You decide to let her do the scolding.
“Ano ba yan Pao! How many times! No shoes! Hindi ikaw ang naglilinis ng bahay na to, baba hanggang taas. (What’s that Pao! How many times! No shoes! You’re not the one who cleans this house from bottom to top.” Your mother glares at Pao, with her hands on her hips.
"Yes, ma." Pao chuckles nervously, immediately removing his shoes.
"Good. Now I have to go. Have a great night, darling." Your mother grabs her purse, quickly kissing your father's cheek as she leaves.
"So Pao, tell us. What's your sister's type in men?" Sebastian chuckles, asking on behalf of the others.
"Tall, handsome, great hair, older Spanish man currently driving for Ferrari, whose teammate is Charles Leclerc and ex-teammate is Lando Norris." Pao smiles brightly, standing up from his chair, and gives Carlos a pat on the back.
Your eyes widened at Pao and what he said. You stuttered, and so did your face. You stood next to Pao as you blinked at him endlessly.
"Um! So not true.”
You chuckle nervously, and it is clearly apparent that you are lying and denying it.
"You know, Y/N, lying is a sin, and you believe in God, right?" Pao smirked at you, causing the other drivers to chuckle. They weren't jealous of Carlos, but they were amused.
You couldn't reply, baffled at the fact he was right. Pao chuckles at your reaction, patting your shoulder as he points his finger up and makes a sign of the cross. Eventually going upstairs to his room. You stare at the drivers and at your father, still speechless, but you pick up your things and walk out. The drivers couldn't help but giggle at you having a crush on Carlos cause Carlos himself was amused.
Hours later, you were hanging around in the lounge area watching TV. Suddenly, your eyes shift behind you, and you see Carlos staring at you in the doorway. Eventually, he approaches you with a smug smile as he sits next to you.
"So you have a crush on me?" He stares at you, obviously with love in his eyes, leaning in closer, making the air thicken each second. You could feel and hear his warm breath against yours.
"Well, I- I'm sorry!" You couldn't help but say sorry; you looked down at him, embarrassed at the fact that you had a crush on him. Well, for so long now.
Carlos smiles softly at your cute behavior; he gently grabs your chin, lifting your face up as he stares at you. He smiles, putting the strand of hair on your face behind your ear.
"Que para mi amor? You know you're a very beautiful woman, and I appreciate you liking me. Because you know? The moment I saw you in that hotel, and I saw your confidence, braveness, and beauty. I fell in love with you. (What for my love?)"
You couldn't help but blush at his words, smiling happily as you put your hands on his hands, still in your chin.
"Can I court you?" He smiles softly, gently taking your hands and holding them in his.
"You're the first man to ask that." You giggle as you leave him holding your hands.
"And I'll make sure I'll be the best cariño." He lays his forehead against yours, still smiling.
"Then you're welcome to." You smile at him, giggling at how sweet he is.
"I can't wait to be there for you, mi amor, I'll wait a thousand lifetimes for you."
He kisses your forehead softly, smiling at you. He was like a teenager in love again. You were so happy that you may have found the man of your dreams, not "may." He really was the man of your dreams.

23. Did you tailor your OC for the other in the romance?

ROMANCE ASKS
Nomin and Estinien have a lot of non-verbal ways of communication, both being people that tend to do via actions versus speaking. I like to imagine that from HW all the way to EW, Estinien took notice of Nomin's tail movements and started correlating them to certain emotional responses when he's not looking at her face directly.
So whenever Estinien sees the telltale tail signs ( :) ), he can use them to approach Nomin and comfort her. Whether they're the annoyed and quick flicks to the left, the stiffened tail with stiff movements when she's angry or scared, or the confused / uncertain / apprehensive slow curls, he can typically discern her emotions and approach her to place a gentle hand on her shoulder, or hug her if she's amicable.
Otherwise, when speaking, both Estinien and Nomin are pretty blunt people who can comfortably share brutal honesty with one another without offense being taken. Despite their bluntness, they're also playful with one another, being able to tease one another and roast one another while finding amusement in themselves.
Since Nomin also knows that Estinien would rather backflip into the Rhotano Sea than be encumbered by reading most forms of writing, she makes sure he has a linkpearl on hand if he wants to keep in touch when he's off doing work in Thavnair at Vrtra's request because she does like hearing his voice (though this may be set to be rethought out pending how Dawntrail plays out and if we learn more about what Estinien gets up to outside of Radz-at-Han once we're in Tural).
As for tailoring my OC for the romance: absolutely not.
Putting the rest of the answer under a cut, because this actually got longer than I anticipated. But the sentence above is a perfect tl;dr.
I've made it no secret that I started off really despising Estinien, and I was annoyed with him throughout the DRG quests, and all of HW. I often was like, "man, if this dude dies, fucking good riddance. Fuck that guy." Even as he was laying in the sickbed and waxing poetic about his self-reflection, I was just, "GOD, CAN MY CHARACTER JUST WALK AWAY..."
Nomin wasn't tailored for Estinien in any fashion. When I made her, I made her because I wanted to have a dedicated Warrior of Light character that I wanted to go through content again with and make a story for. When I learned more about the Xaela and their tribes, and customs, I grew to love them -- especially because I LOVE seeing representation of people you don't normally see in media and video games. I'm happy for all the Mongolians that are so, so happy to see their people represented. If Square Enix makes a fantasy land with people that are representative of the Filipino people, I will genuinely LOVE that and make another dedicated WoL who represents half of my cultural roots.
When Endwalker started and we got to fucking customs, his reaction to being asked what his current occupation was...that was the "FUCK!" moment for me. Because I LOVE when powerful men show dumbass himbo mcbuffoonisms to the audience -- that makes them 10000% more endearing to me. (No, his admission of 'swinging a lance with nary a thought in my head' quote wasn't enough at the time because he still never really outwardly showed that kind of silliness in a way that was visible to me.)

One thing in the back of my mind is JDS and LM may be on the kallura is a mistake and allurance should have always been cannon. Lance insting it should be lance and allura not keith and allura made me think that. Though ending with allura dying seems to go against that. I mean they basically wasted the first and given WEPs disapointment only time allurance is cannon.
From everything that's been said about Voltron Legendary Defender, there are actually multiple stories about why it all fell apart and the license is now with Amazon (although like I noted yesterday, there is a greater than zero chance the Filipino GMA Network may not just release its live-action Voltes V, but a live-action Daimos before Voltron hits theaters).
If you believe Bob Koplar's Voltron panels, the man hated what Legendary Defender did in multiple spots. He hated Allurance, hated the race swaps, hated Shiro, and hated that the giant robot show was allergic to the giant robot. The relationship fully fell apart when Universal rejected a David Hayter-penned live-action movie script that used Legendary Defender as its base, and if Koplar is to be believed, while he has nothing but respect for Solid Snake (the man did write the screenplay for the first two X-Men films), the final product, AND I QUOTE, "Did not get Voltron". So once Universal/Dreamworks let the license expire (by not greenlighting any sort of continuation or separate adaptation), the rights lapsed and reverted to WEP, with Bob all too happy to take the license back and shop it around. That being said, the romance element was one of many things Koplar hated, rather than it being the only thing he thought was bad. And judging by the commercial, non-Tumblr/Twitter response to the film in comparison to the utterly insane bidding war the pitch that was based on the original show garnered, Bob was correct.
The actors behind the show presented a much more mundane reason for the show falling apart during a panel in 2021. During said panels, the actors CLAIMED that Legendary Defender was supposed to have a movie about an older Lance going to find Allura and reviving her. However, in their account of the story, when Dreamworks signed a deal with Hulu, they were legally unable to make the movie happen. And then the license expired due to reasons they were unaware of.
Bluntly put, while it's feasible, the story doesn't really add up.
Yes, Dreamworks did sign an exclusivity deal with Hulu (that seems to have since expired). Only that deal did not prevent the continuation of numerous Dreamworks animations, including the Boss Baby show, which is running to this day, and She-Ra, which after it ended and bombed, went to Amazon Prime for its next incarnation, not Hulu or even Peacock (which is owned by NBC Universal, Dreamworks's parent company).
If the Legendary Defender deal did expire, absolutely nothing was stopping Universal, had they wanted to, from putting a new Voltron show into production to retain the license, even if it was some sort of Teen Titans Go-esque comedy.
Universal itself at this point was actually going through significant cost-cutting. They actually dumped a few films they were going to distribute, most notably Detective Pikachu, to save on marketing costs.
I'm of the belief that there was a VLD animated grand finale movie in the cards, but after the show tanked commercially, the movie production went south, and it was clear Koplar was pissed and Universal thought the license was dead (by their own hand), Bob took the license back through the license expiration clause, and when he set out to restart the live-action movie, made it a point to make it the opposite of all the things he hated about Voltron Legendary Defender. Which seems to be "most everything," although yes, that does include the romance in the show.

i’m just wondering does anyone else find it weird or kind of annoying when fics refer to lance as “the Cuban?” it just sounds off right?
never in any book have i read “the filipino american” or “the middle eastern” like why you gotta name them after their nationality/ethnicity?

What headcanons do you have about Skylar, my new OC who is a teenage shapeshifting detective, and how she got a one way ticket to Wonderworld?
I have some interesting ones.
If I had to take a wild guess, I would say that the real reason she went to Wonderworld was due to insecurities of her being a detective. That said, she views Balan and Lance as extremely talented mentors.
Skylar is incredibly clever. She's able to easily outwit humans with the most clever clapbacks to threats and/or insults. She is even skilled at setting up impressive traps for villains. If you watch Home Alone and Home Alone 2: Lost In New York, you'll know what I'm talking about. (Imagine Madame Prim falling for one of the traps. 😂)
Skylar is multilingual, meaning she speaks multiple languages. She is fluent in English, Spanish, Italian, French, German, Russian, Korean, Mandarin Chinese, Japanese, Portugese, Scottish Gaelic, and Tagalog (a Filipino language)
When it comes to being a detective, Skylar is talented in examining DNA, interrogating suspects, and finding evidence in places that police officers wouldn't think to look in.

Slay your enemies in style with the fashionable French-Filipino duelist! Cartiers crystals provide AoE damage, concuss enemies and most importantly are pretty to look at!
Her Kit (I might change things around):
💎[C] Spinel Lance💎
A crystal lance that when thrown concusses enemies. It functions like a molly. 3-5hp is removed from the enemy with every step they take in it.
💎[Q] Sapphire Shields💎
A crystal coating that adds 25hp to bought shields.
💎[E] Quartz Bullet💎(Signature)
Cartier imbues two of her bullets with a crystal coating so they cause AoE damage on impact.
-(fun fact: this was inspired by Gany-u's frostflake arrow)-
💎[X] Fleur de Mal/ Diamant💎
Crystal spikes shoot out of the ground and impale enemies. Fleur de Mal can also obstruct the area its planted in. It can be knifed but the resulting shrapnel hurts the enemy.

Bio:
Madeleine “Maddie” Fabron is a French Radiant. Her power is producing radianite crystals. These crystals appear in shades of pink. Cartier’s crystals are sharper and break into shards more easily than Sage’s crystals.
Maddie had a carefree life with her affluent family. She has two parents Teresa Fabron and Nicolas Fabron and an older brother, Vincent Fabron (Chamber).
She flunked out of college and failed many job applications until one fateful job interview.
"So Miss Fabron, why should we hire you? What makes you different from the other potential hires?"
Maddie sweats nervously.
"I-I can make rocks?" The fidgety applicant generates a radianite crystal from her palm.
"What the fuck" Were the last words she heard from the interviewer before he fainted from shock.
After that two things happened: She never heard from her interviewer again and she got hired by the protocol to help with their radianite research.\
Personality:
Maddie is playful, childish and at times flirty. Maddie wears her heart on her sleeve - even if she doesn't want to show it. Despite being competitive she has a cheerful disposition, often amusing others with her reckless shenanigans. Maddie sees the protocol as more like a regular job than as the world saving organization they actually are. Not even her protocol duties can distract her from the luxury goods, fashion, romantic tv shows and music that she loves so much.
Maddie is not much of an intellectual. Her charm is instead in being more emotionally and socially intelligent. Instead of having carefully made plans and weapons she prefers to creatively improvise. Maddie is quite caring affectionate protective of her loved ones.

The relationship between Edmar and Pili is a cinematic instance of the Boy Love genre, a transformative genre that originated in Japan. The genre has spread worldwide primarily through Asia and this is the first time it has been captured through modern moʻolelo, the art of Hawaiian storytelling.
