My favorite story of yours is No Rest For The Wicked ❤
The smut was great and the build up?? The angst?? I really love how Jungkook was so upset with the reader 'cause she wouldn't let him properly explain himself for years after the incident. The fact that he still had feelings for her after all that misunderstanding was what got me the most, honestly ❤
Would you ever consider writing a follow up drabble for NRFTW? I would love to know if they actually got together after ❤
But if I had to name your best story yet, I would say it's Unconditionally. It was so well written and very difficult for me to read...which is funny 'cause I'm not even a mother myself but I still felt the MC's pain. Feeling like a failure as a mother must be so painful and I just really felt for her...
AND TAE OMG TAT Best daddy, he was so loving and understanding. I'm sure he'll become a better husband for her ❤
OMGEEE!!! NRFTW was honestly something I didn't plan. I just really love the whole F13 film series and Friday the 13th was actually coming up when I started writing. It's just one of those fun little projects so idk if I'd ever consider writing more. However, I'm really glad you liked it because I really feel like I could have done a lot better.
And Unconditionally is my everything. It was really difficult to write but it was necessary for me because I was dealing with a lot of stress and mom guilt... mainly for things I had no control over. And Taehyung was so great!! I think it was an experience they both needed in order to grow. Their future will be bright. I know for sure!🥹💞

Nothing made you happier than a warm spring day. Something about the beautiful blue sky, the temperature slowly rising with a cool breeze while seeing the first hints of green after a dreary winter made you smile from ear to ear. You always took advantage of a wonderful spring day and could stay outside from sunrise to sunset. And today was no exception to that. You sat on a picnic blanket with Jaeyoung on your lap as Jaehee was blowing bubbles in front of you.
Jaeyoung squealed and clapped his hands as the bubbles flew in his direction, reaching out to pop the ones that were within arm's length. One landed on his nose, causing him to go cross-eyed as he tried to look at it. You giggled and snapped a quick picture before popping the bubble. His sweet laugh rang in your ears, making you lean down and kiss his forehead. Jaehee waved her hand around wildly in hopes of making more bubbles form but instead, the soapy liquid flew everywhere.
You stand corrected: nothing makes you happier than a warm spring day with your twins.
"Eomma, do you or JaeJae want to blow bubbles?" Jaehee asked, waving the wand in your face.
"I think you should show JaeJae the wand first." You answered.
She handed Jaeyoung the wand, who merely stared at it. Jaehee frowned but didn't let his lack of response deter her, instead holding it in front of you instead. You took the wand from her and blew bubbles much bigger than they had seen. There was only so much air that Jaehee could exhale and most of her bubbles were tiny. The twins stared at the bubbles in awe before running around to chase after them. You watched them fondly, an overwhelming warmth washing over you from the mere sight of them excited over something as simple as bubbles.
"Jaehee, do you want more fruit?" You called, picking up the container of fruit that was filled with berries.
"Yes, please."
She came running over and took a seat beside you to resume her snacking that was momentarily paused by the bubbles. You called out to Jaeyoung as well but he ignored you, continuing to occupy himself with a stick he had found after losing interest in the bubbles. With a strawberry stabbed into a yellow plastic fork in one hand, you approached your son and squatted beside him.
"Jaeyoung," You said softly so you wouldn't startle him.
"Eomma, look! Stick.”
The widest smile spread across his face at the sight of you. You smiled back at him, holding out the fork in front of him, which he snatched out of your hand and ate in one bite. He then turned his attention back to the stick, waving it around excitedly, almost poking himself in the eye while he was at it.
"Be careful, JaeJae."
Jaeyoung was a splitting image of you. From the shape of his eyes to the fullness of his lips, he was an exact reflection of you. His resemblance to you was one of the first things that the nurses pointed out once he popped out of your womb. Even at three years old, his features remained the same and he was your mini-me.
You left Jaeyoung alone, watching him fondly as he played around in the grass, finding entertainment in ripping handfuls of it before letting the wind blow it away from his hand. Jaehee waddled over towards you, plopping down in your lap with a couple of wildflowers in her hand that she picked.
"Look, eomma, flowers!" She exclaimed.
Jaehee, on the other hand, looked nothing like you. In fact, she seemed to take all of the features of her father. You still were shocked whenever you took a good look at her, wondering how it was possible for her to be a carbon copy of her father. It was amazing how each twin looked exactly like either of their parents and if anybody were to ever see the four of you, they would know immediately that you guys were a family.
"They're so pretty, Petal." You beamed. "Do you want to put one in your hair?"
You gently tucked the flower into her hair, adjusting accordingly so it wouldn't fall out. You couldn't help but snap a dozen pictures of her, giggling at how she posed for every single one. You couldn't believe how photogenic a three-year-old could be; she would be a great model if she ever decided to pursue a modeling career in the future.
"You look so pretty, baby." You cooed, leaving a big smooch on her cheek.
Jaehee smiled at you with a giggle, wiping your kiss off, to which you dramatically pouted. You peppered her face in kisses, making her squeal as she tried to escape your grasp.
"I kiss you too." She leaned in and kissed you smack on your lips.
"Oh, thank you." You laughed.
"Eomma!" Jaeyoung came walking over. "A doggie!"
You looked to your right and saw a rather big dog sniffing his way over in your direction. It looked up at the three of you, letting out a bark before bounding over. The twins excitedly met the dog halfway, being easily knocked over by the sheer size difference. They stood back up, however, laughing as the dog licked them all over their face and sniffed them frantically.
"Why hello there." You greeted the dog, getting up on your knees to pet it. You received a lick on your cheek in response. "What's your name?" You took a look at the collar, reading 'Jeon Bam' which was engraved on the tag.
"Bam!"
A man's voice startled you as Bam barked loudly upon hearing his name. The Doberman quickly abandoned the three of you and ran over to the figure who began scolding him, jumping up onto his hind legs out of excitement.
"Bam, you can't run away like that!"
When you looked up and caught a glimpse of who was in front of you, you felt like throwing up.
It had been over four years since you saw Jeon Jungkook in front of you. The last time you spoke to him was when he stared at you in disappointment as you begged him to let you into his dorm so you could speak with his bandmate. Seeing him in the flesh seemed unreal. You swore that you would never see him again yet here he was, standing in front of you as he smiled down at the twins fondly.
"Did you make new friends, Bamie?" Jungkook cooed, affectionately rubbing his head.
“Puppy!” Jaeyoung shrieked, launching his entire body forward and onto Bam.
You gasped in horror and quickly grabbed him, pulling him off of Bam, who was unfazed. “JaeJae, that was not nice. You have to be gentle, remember? Nice hands.”
Jungkook chuckled. “No worries, he’s so much smaller than Bam that he didn’t even feel it.”
You smiled wearily, waiting for him to realize who he was speaking to.
“Sorry about him knocking your kids over, he usually doesn’t run off when I take his leash off. I guess he saw the three of you and—"
Jungkook's voice left him as he finally looked up, making eye contact with the woman he was talking with for the past few minutes. His doe eyes grew to the size of saucers that you thought his eyes were going to fall out of their sockets. You simply smiled, struggling to hide the overwhelming wave of emotions that were drowning you.
"Y/N?" His voice was small, reminding you of Jaehee when you scolded her for doing something she wasn't supposed to.
"Hi, Jungkook."
Your voice was merely a whisper, for you feared you would burst into tears if you spoke louder. You forced yourself to push down the lump in your throat since you knew that you couldn't afford to break into tears with the twins in front of you. Maybe if you were alone, you would allow yourself to shed a few tears but you couldn't right now.
"Is that really you, noona?" Jungkook asked.
That damn honorific; you always found it weird being addressed as noona by other guys but it was endearing when it came from Jungkook and hearing him call you noona made you wonder if he still saw you the same way he did when he was friends.
"It really is me." You laughed, tears burning your eyes as you watched Jungkook's eyes flash with all kinds of emotions.
He crouched down in front of you, reaching his hand out to wipe the tear that fell down your face. You flinched, jerking your head away from him before he could touch you, wiping away the tear yourself. Your stomach twisted as his face dropped in hurt, gulping when he bit down on his lip and quickly retracted his hand.
"Where have you been, noona?" Jungkook asked.
"I've always been here, Kook. I just made sure to stay out of your way." You responded, uncaring about how harsh the truth was.
He glanced over at the twins, who were still occupied with Bam. The Doberman had taken it upon himself to curl up on the picnic blanket, content with the way Jaehee and Jaeyoung were petting him. Jungkook smiled at the sight for a split second before it dropped as quickly as it appeared.
"Is it because of—"
"Yup."
A heavy silence fell between the two of you. You didn't want to be so rude to Jungkook after seeing him for the first time in four years but you couldn't help but be angry that he was acting as if he didn't dump you on the side of the road after your breakup with Hoseok. He had been one of the people who accused you of cheating and his mere presence was close to sending you into a fit of tears.
"Does hyung know?" Jungkook's tone was cautionary, almost as if he was afraid to ask you.
"No. He blocked me after I sent the first ultrasound pictures that the doctor gave me. He doesn't even know that I have twins." You replied blankly.
Jungkook never experienced being stabbed by someone but with your blunt words and harsh tone, he felt as if you had attempted to stab him countless times. He always knew in the back of his mind that he shouldn't expect you to be kind in the instance that he saw you again but talking to you in real-time made it hurt all the more. And he knew that he had no right to be hurt when he contributed to all of the pain you felt over the last four years since the breakup.
"Oh."
You got up onto your knees and began packing the picnic basket. Jungkook watched helplessly as you quickly placed your containers and bottles in the basket, almost as if you were rushing to get away from him. "Time to go home, say bye bye to Bam."
Jaehee waved at Bam as you picked her up in one arm, holding the basket with the same hand. You grabbed Jaeyoung's hand, grateful that neither of the twins was putting up a fight, and instead found interest in the dandelions that had turned white.
"Y/N—”
"I have to go home, the twins need to take a nap before it's too late in the afternoon. It was nice seeing you again, Jungkook."
Without another word, you headed towards the parking lot beside the car, leaving Jungkook with no choice but to watch you disappear again. He swallowed the lump in his throat, unable to tear his eyes away even after you placed the twins in their car seats and drove out of the parking lot.
"It was nice seeing you too, noona."
Tumblr media
"Are you sure it was Y/N?"
"For the hundredth time, yes!"
Namjoon, Seokjin, and Yoongi flinched from Jungkook's sharp tone, muttering an apology under their breath. The maknae had been on edge ever since he came over to the dorm with Bam, clearly agitated from whatever happened while he was out. Seokjin had been the one to gather the other hyungs when Jungkook simply replied with your name after he asked what was wrong.
Jungkook ran his hand through his hair in frustration, irritated with how none of them believed that he saw you at the park. How could he mistake you for someone else when you had left such a distinct mark on his life? You also responded when he said your name and your children were carbon copies of you and Hoseok. How could it not be you?
"And she was there with two kids?" Seokjin asked.
"Yes, one boy and one girl. They're pretty young so I'm sure they're Hoseok hyung's kids."
Namjoon scowled at how quickly Jungkook assumed that they were Hoseok's children. "How do you know that it's not some other man's kids?"
"Because his daughter is him but with long hair! If you took one look at her you would know that they're Hoseok hyung's kids. Y/N didn't cheat like we all thought she did."
The room fell silent at Jungkook's outburst as his words sunk in. It felt as if somebody dump a bucket of cold water over their heads, the reality of what happened four years ago coming to light. All of them had been so convinced that you cheated on Hoseok with how angry he was and with the proof he had that they assumed all these years that you were pregnant with another man's kid.
"We were wrong." Jungkook's voice cracked as tears welled up in his eyes yet again. "We were so fucking wrong about Y/N."
Namjoon placed his hand on his shoulder, rubbing it comfortingly. "It's okay, Kook. None of us knew."
"Yeah, but we still treated her like she was the scum of the Earth and she raised twins on her own for the past four years. We all know that she didn't deserve any of that."
Out of everybody in Bangtan, Jungkook was the most affected by abruptly cutting you out of his life other than Hoseok. Though he wasn't the member you were closest with, he had a kind heart and a pure soul. Refusing to let you see Hoseok after the initial demand to break up and blaming you for cheating on his best friend tore him inside. He didn't want to believe that you would do something as cruel as cheating but Hoseok would always come first. Part of him always felt guilty for pushing you out of his life, even if it had been four years.
"What are we going to do? We have to tell Hoseok hyung, don't we?" Jungkook asked.
Yoongi shook his head. "I think it's best if we don't tell him. He's been better off without Y/N and you saw how long it took for him to move past the breakup. If she stayed in Seoul and none of us have run into her for the past four years, I highly doubt it'll happen now."
"That's not fair, he deserves to know!" Jungkook protested.
"Yeah, I think we should tell him. Just so he knows and isn't kept in the dark." Namjoon agreed.
Seokjin raised his eyebrows. "Does he deserve to know? He blew up on Y/N, accused her of cheating when he could've asked to take a paternity test. He abandoned her and left her to raise their twins on her own knowing that she had nobody in her life to help her. Do you really think he deserves to know?"
Silence could be suffocating. It was amazing how something so simple could grab you by the throat and leave you gasping for air. Seokjin and Yoongi stared at Namjoon and Jungkook, their arms crossed and chins up with defiance while the younger cowered away from their pointed looks. Namjoon may be the leader of the group, but Seokjin and Yoongi were the eldest, and sometimes they knew better. Namjoon understood that and respected it, but this time, he wasn't sure if they really did know better.

Jung Hoseok was observant.
It was a trait he picked up and developed after being the dance leader of Bangtan for nine years. He spotted even the smallest mistakes that the members made during the choreography, keeping it in mind to help correct them after the run-through. In the instances where he missed the mistakes, either the expressions of the members would give it away or they would confess that they messed up. This situation fell under both categories. He could tell some of the members were hiding something from him and knew someone would eventually crack and tell him what was going on. That someone was Jungkook.
Hoseok noticed that Seokjin, Yoongi, Namjoon, and Jungkook seemed to know something other members didn't. He also noticed that it didn't involve Taehyung or Jimin as they acted normally around them. Maybe Hoseok was a bit too observant. Or maybe he knew his brothers well enough to be aware that they were hiding something from him. He didn't know when Jungkook was going to fess up but it wouldn't be long until he did. After all, he could never hide anything from his beloved Hoseok hyung.
"I feel like we haven't talked in a while, Jungkookie." Hoseok collapsed on the floor beside the maknae, leaning against the wall before taking a sip out of his water.
Jungkook looked at him amusedly, his eyes twinkling. "What do you mean, hyung? We talk almost every day."
"No, I mean we haven't talk-talked. We need to catch up." He replied. He then moved closer to Jungkook with a smile. "Anything new in your life?"
Okay, so maybe Hoseok wasn't being as subtle as he thought. He came up with an elaborate plan on how to coax Jungkook into telling him what he was hiding but it didn't seem to be going to plan. His eagerness to find out what was going on muddled his brain and he couldn't help but spit out his immediate thoughts.
"No, nothing new. I've been just playing games at home and lying around when I'm not with you guys." Jungkook answered.
Hoseok narrowed his eyes at him, giving him an accusing look. "Are you sure about that?"
"Yes?"
"Really?"
"I'm not really following right now," Jungkook confessed. "Why are you interrogating me right now?"
"Because I know you're hiding something, Jeon Jungkook." Hoseok hissed, his resolve breaking. "And I know that the other hyungs know too. Now tell me, what are you guys hiding from me?"
The maknae's eyes widened as he backed away from him. "What are you talking about? We're not hiding anything."
Whether or not Jungkook drastically improved his acting and lying skills, Hoseok didn't know but he was doing a magnificent job at not spilling whatever secret was floating around between half of the group.
"Yes, you guys are." Hoseok accused. "I'm not an idiot and have seen you guys whispering for the past week. What's going on?"
Jungkook let out a laugh before shaking his head. "You must be crazy. I think you're misinterpreting normal conversations for something that they're not."
"Are you gaslighting me right now?" Hoseok had to admit that he was acting out of line. He was treading on a hunch and there was no solid evidence that Jungkook and the rest of the hyung line knew something he didn't. But seeing the way Jungkook was pretending as if he wasn't whispering behind his back even if he wasn't keeping a secret was irking him.
"I'm not, promise." Jungkook laughed. "I've got nothing to hide and even if I did, you would be the first person I would tell. Have I ever kept something from you?”
"No," Hoseok reluctantly answered.
"Exactly." Jungkook pointed out. "There's no secret being kept. Don't worry about something that doesn't even exist."

"The universe has never been on your side, Y/L/N, Y/N."
"Tell me about it." You sighed.
You took a sip of your blueberry hibiscus tea, slamming it down against the table miserably. Eunae stared at you sympathetically, patting you on the shoulder in a poor attempt to make you feel better. She perked up when her boyfriend approached the table with a slice of strawberry shortcake in his hand, immediately taking it from him to place it in front of you.
"Here, eat this. You'll feel better after you eat some cake." She urged, picking up a forkful.
"Thanks for the cake, Seungcheol." You mumbled before opening your mouth to take a bite.
Eunae was your delivery nurse while you gave birth to the twins. You were grateful that your nurse was somebody your age, as it brought more comfort to have a person who could understand you. The rest of your delivery team were middle-aged adults and while they were the most excellent team you could ask for, it was hard trying to connect to them. You and Eunae hit it off immediately upon meeting each other and she had been in your life ever since.
For the past three years, she had been by your side to help you raise Jaehee and Jaeyoung without hesitation. After realizing that you were a single mother with no support system, she befriended you and took you in with open arms. Even if you had family and friends to rely on, there was no doubt that the two of you would've remained friends.
Seungcheol, on the other hand, was somebody you met through Eunae. Your first time meeting him was nothing short of awkward and embarrassing, and it was something the three of you never dared to discuss. About a year after the twins were born, Eunae revealed that she had been seeing a guy and that they were officially dating for six months. While you were initially upset that she never told you, she explained that she couldn’t tell you because she quite legally wasn’t allowed to. Your first assumption was that Eunae was dating perhaps some top-secret government worker who could end either of their lives if he wanted to.
What you didn’t assume was that you would find her making out on her couch with Choi Seungcheol.
"What the fuck?" You squawked.
Eunae and Seungcheol immediately jumped apart from one another, scrambling to fix their clothes and hair while avoiding eye contact. You gaped at them, unable to believe that your best friend was dating a K-pop idol, specifically one who was a member of one of the most popular groups in Korea. Their faces were beet red, unable to look you in the eye.
“You’re dating Choi Seungcheol?” You screeched. “Seventeen’s leader S. Coups? User Sound_of_Coups on Instagram?”
“Shut the fuck up, Y/N!” Eunae shrieked, chucking a pillow at your face.
You quickly dodged it, scowling at her as the twins almost flew out of their stroller. Luckily, they remained asleep amidst the chaos, unaware of what was unfolding in front of them. “Hey, you're going to hit the twins if you're not careful. Watch it.”
“I don’t fucking care,” Eunae growled. “Why didn’t you knock?”
“Because you leave the door unlocked for me to walk in whenever you dumb bitch.”
“Are you allowed to be swearing in front of them that much?” Seungcheol piped up.
You and Eunae paused, looking over at the twins for a brief second before shaking your heads.
“They’re asleep, they can’t hear us,” Eunae said.
Seungcheol tilted his head, unsure of how accurate her statement was but accepted it regardless. He then stood up from the couch, bowing to you as he introduced himself. "Hi, Y/N, I'm Seungcheol. It's nice to finally meet you, I've heard a lot about you from Eunae."
"All good things, I hope." You joked, pressing on the brakes from the strollers before Eunae pushed you aside to grab one of the sleeping twins, cooing about how she missed them.
"Only great things." Seungcheol smiled. "Eunae speaks highly of you so I've been excited to meet you. "I'm sorry about the circumstances we met under, I had no idea you would be visiting today."
You shook your head as you swung your diaper bag over your shoulder and picked up Jaeyoung. "No, please don't apologize. It was my fault for not knocking. Eunae usually lets me walk in whenever I come over and I didn't expect her to have a guest. I'm glad to meet you though."
Admittedly, you were a bit skeptical about her relationship with Seungcheol after your past disaster of a relationship with Hoseok but kept your mouth shut about it. You knew you weren't in the place to judge considering that you didn't know much about Seungcheol nor was it fair to assume that all idols were the same. The last thing you wanted to do was displace your ill feelings from Hoseok onto Seungcheol. Over the past two years, however, you learned that Seungcheol was nothing like Hoseok and you had nothing to be worried about in regards to his intentions with Eunae.
They first met during the Ode to You Tour after Eunae had been hired to work as one of the onsite nurses for the group. She and Seungcheol hit it off well during the few months Seungcheol was part of the tour, even remaining in contact after his hiatus from group activities. Eunae became somebody he often confided in, sharing his worries and in return receiving valuable advice. Once the tour was finished, Eunae landed a job at the hospital you delivered the twins which is how your friendship came to be. Not too long after she began working there, Seungcheol asked her out and their relationship soon came to be.
"Are you going to tell Hoseok?" Seungcheol asked. "There's no way Jungkook isn't going to tell him about the twins."
That was the one thing you were certain about following the conversation with Jungkook. The maknae quite literally worshipped the ground Hoseok walked in and while you were dating Hoseok, you had seen many instances of Jungkook's immense love for him. After the fight you and Jungkook had before you cut all contact, there was no doubt that he would go running to his hyung and open his mouth about who he saw at the park.
"I don't know, to be honest. Hoseok doesn't think the twins are his so I don't think he'll care that Jungkook saw me. He'll probably just get angry and end the conversation." You aggressively stabbed at your cake, scooping the piece into your mouth.
"I wouldn't tell him if I was you. He made the choice to accuse you of cheating when he literally could've gotten a paternity test done and left you alone to raise not one but two children on your own. He has no right to know about the twins nor be in your lives. I say fu-screw him." Eunae slammed her fist on the table, startling Jaehee.
Seungcheol gave her a disapproving look, shifting Jaeyoung on his lap so he could take Jaehee away from her. "You're scaring Jaehee."
Eunae snatched her back, settling Jaehee on her lap before ticking her stomach. "Jaehee knows that Eunae imo isn't scary, right, neoguri?"
You rolled your eyes, thinking about all of the times Eunae accidentally scared the twins with her loud voice and enthusiastic personality. She was perhaps the most outgoing and bubbly person you met, which was no match for her tiny figure. Sometimes you felt like she was meant to be six feet tall but was unfortunately trapped in a five-foot body. Her attitude and personality certainly made up for the lack of inches in her height.
"I think it's best if I don't tell him. If Jungkook told him then that's fine because there's nothing I can do. I don't think he's ever kept a secret from Hoseok out of all people." You groaned, dropping your head on the table.
Eunae moved the cake away from your hair, tutting as she wiped some frosting off. "Honestly, Jungkook doesn't deserve to know about the twins either, considering how he treated you when you ran into him at the dorm. He's equally as bad as Hoseok. Public enemy number two in my eyes."
You laughed at her comment as you lifted your head off of the table, grateful that she had been loyal to you from the start. She and Seungcheol, alongside the Seventeen members, were the only ones who you really had in your life. Though you lacked so much compared to them and lived a life that strayed away from the norm, they easily welcomed you into their lives with open arms and brought you in to be part of their family.
"What if you run into him? You ran into Jungkook so surely you'll run into Hoseok at some point too, whether you're with the twins or not." Seungcheol pointed out.
You scrunched up your face at the mere thought of bumping into your ex-boyfriend. You were quite positive that you would punch his annoyingly beautiful face if you ever saw him again and had even learned how to throw a proper punch from Mingyu just in case. "I think I would punch him. Or run back in the direction I came from."
"You better punch him, Y/L/N Y/N or god so help me," Eunae growled. "I'll punch him too so he can walk around with matching black eyes."
"You are so violent." Seungcheol smiled tightly.
"It's the only answer."
He simply kissed her on the forehead, nodding along in agreement as she angrily muttered about how much she hated Hoseok and what she planned on doing if she ever came across him. "You do that, baby."
"I don't know what I'm going to do if I see him again. I truly think I might implode." You mumbled.
Seungcheol laughed nervously, as he glanced over at the door upon hearing the bell ringing. "Would seeing the other members make you implode?"
"I don't know, probably not."
"Good, because Jungkook and Yoongi just walked in,"
Eunae immediately snapped her head up. "What?"
She gasped loudly, swatting at you to get your attention. To your utter horror, Jungkook and Yoongi were approaching the counter as they stared at the menu. They were wearing a hat and masks to cover up their faces but it was obvious to you and Seungcheol that it was them. Eunae narrowed her eyes, wondering how Seungcheol was able to recognize them so easily when their hats almost covered their eyes and their mask hid half of their face. Luckily, the three of you were secluded in the corner of the cafe so that nobody would spot Seungcheol.
"Y/N, move down one seat so you're against the wall. Cheol, go sit beside her."
The two of you immediately obeyed, switching around the seats before Eunae passed Jaehee to the two of you. Your heart was racing as you curled into your daughter, barely registering Eunae telling Seungcheol to wrap his arm around your waist and pull you close to his body to hide you from Yoongi and Jungkook to the best of his abilities.
"I know this is weird but when you guys sit like that it looks like you guys are a random couple. There's no way either of them will be able to recognize you two especially with your backs facing them." Eunae explained in a low tone.
All you could hear was your heart pounding in your ears as you stared down at the table, remaining frozen as Seungcheol and Eunae talked among themselves in hushed tones. Jaehee and Jaeyoung were fortunately distracted by the new coloring books Eunae gifted them, unaware of the panic between the three of you. Bile rose in your throat as you heard Jungkook and Yoongi laughing, their voices becoming louder as they walked closer to your table.
The unfortunate part about the table you had chosen was that it was near the pickup counter. Though there was still a good distance between the table and the counter, there was a higher chance you would be spotted. Seungcheol moved even closer to you, placing his elbow on the table and resting his face on his hand so he could block Jaeyoung's face completely. Eunae watched them discreetly, occasionally glancing at them to assure that neither of them had spotted you. It was shocking that they were at the same coffee shop the three of you were at, considering that it was the most common meetup spot and you had yet to see any of the BTS members walk in. Whether they had already been customers you didn't know but your run-ins with them no longer felt like coincidences.
"I think they're gonna leave soon, Yoongi just grabbed his drink and they're making Jungkook's, I'm pretty sure," Eunae reported.
"What's taking them so long to make two drinks?" Seungcheol grumbled. "How complicated are their orders?" He then glanced down at his arm that was around your face, cringing at the proximity. "Sorry, Y/N, but if I have to hold you like this any longer I might have to spill Eunae's drink on you."
"Not if I do it first." You sneered.
Eunae rolled her eyes at the childish remarks, wondering how Seungcheol was the leader of a thirteen-member band while you were the mother of twins yet both of you acted like elementary school students. "Lucky for you guys, they're gone." She remarked dryly.
Seungcheol ripped his arm away and happily sat back down beside Eunae, sliding his arm around her waist before dropping his face into the crook of her neck. "Thank fucking god, if I had to touch her for another second I was going to call Yoongi and Jungkook over."
Eunae gasped, aggressively slapping him for the rude comment. "Choi Seungcheol, watch what you say!"
"I think you need a new boyfriend." You folded your hands on the table, tightly smiling at the couple in front of you. "A better one."
She ignored your comment, instead turning back to the issue at hand. "It looks like you'll have to be careful for the next few days, Y/N. Running into Yoongi once and Jungkook twice means that you're a lot closer to Hoseok than you thought."
It seemed as if your issue of running into Yoongi and Jungkook stemmed from your recent move. You moved into a new apartment about two months ago after saving up to move to a bigger one. You and the twins lived in a one-bedroom apartment that was far too cramped for the three of you but you couldn't afford to move to a bigger place up until the new year. You spent the past three years saving up to move to an apartment that was well-fit for the twins to grow up. Though you lived in Seoul previously, your new apartment was closer to the heart of the city and it seemed like that was where the Bangtan members were located.
"I knew I should've moved into a different apartment." You lamented, dropping your head back onto the table.
Eunae reached out and brushed your hair soothingly. "Everything's going to be okay, Y/N. If you run into Hoseok, then you run into Hoseok. Whatever happens, just know that Cheol and I are always by your side. Don't worry too much."
You smiled at her, grateful that she was doing all she could to comfort you even to the point where she dragged her unwilling boyfriend along with her. Despite her words, however, tears stung your eyes as you pressed your lips together, trying to stop them from falling. The fears that accumulated over the years were reaching their breaking point and bumping into Hoseok would surely tip you over the edge.
Even though he was the one who had left you and the twins, you had a nasty feeling that you would be fighting to keep your kids within arm's reach.

Unconditionally Epilogue (pt 2)
Anakin X Reader
Tumblr media
a/n: This is the complete end to unconditionally, i’ve been putting off finishing part two but i really just got into it these past few days (nostalgia is a weird thing haha) but i hope you enjoy and i want to thank you all again- i wouldn’t have ever continued to write if you guys hadn’t supported me in the first place- so thank you so much :)
10 years later...
It’s a busy week at the Skywalker household: the twins are turning 18 and you and Anakin are celebrating your 10th anniversary
Warnings: cursing, kids, nudity, no sex but implied, mention of injury and car accidents.
___________________
“Maker!! This is for me?” Leia exclaimed happily when the two of you handed her the smooth car fob.
“It's all yours princess” Anakin smiled as he went in to hug her.
“We wanted to send you off to college with a more reliable car; we also got you a bunch of accessories and stickers for the inside, they’re in the living room. I think you’ll really like them” you added.
She hugged you next, “Thank you so much!”.
“Thank you daddy”  she said, walking towards the sleek auto infront of her.
“Yea. thanks ‘daddy’,” Han teased before going off to join his ecstatic girlfriend.
Anakin’s smile turned to an annoyed scowl; that smug son of a bitch was gonna get it some day, but as of now Anakin refrained from violence.
“I don't know about that Solo kid, he might end up six feet under with me holding the shovel someday” Anakin half joked, half actually meant.
“Whatever” you rolled your eyes playfully, “as if you weren't a cocky son of a bitch when we first met”
He gave you a smug look with his brow raised.
“You know it's true, “Mr. Skywalker’” you smirked at the formal title you hadn't used in years.
He huffed out a laugh and pulled you into his side, returning the smile.
By the car, Leia raved to her boyfriend about the interior and he happily listened with a huge grin (he knew he’d be driving them on dates in it in the near future).
Luke popped out of the garage with a smile and his safety goggles crookedly laid in his fluffy hair.
“Finally!” he exclaimed, “mom and dad have had me keeping your present in the garage for two weeks now! About time you got it”.
Leia turned to her brother, “you knew?!”.
“Of course I did, I helped pick it out- I got you the newest model with the best safety features. Cant have my sister going to college in a hunk-a-junk” he joked.
A wide smile plastered itself on Leia's face as she rushed to embrace her brother.
“I’m so glad you like it honey” you said, hugging her once more.
“And now that your brother finally stepped out of his cave, we can give you your gift,” Anakin said, turning to his son.
All of you walked back into the house and Anakin pulled out a plain white envelope.
“So, I know your sister’s gift is actually useful right now, but I’m sure you'll be very pleased with yours”, Anakin said as he handed the slip to his son.
Luke was confused but happily opened the envelope. You watched his blue eyes scan over the words and once it all clicked, he leapt up from the bar stool he was on.
“No way! No fucking way!” he exclaimed, making Han and his sister laugh.
Anakin shook his head with a smile.
“What is it?” Leia asked, but before you could answer her, Luke practically tackled you in a giant hug.
You smiled and embraced him warmly before he left to do the same to Anakin (a little gentler).
“Thank you thank you!!” he said, clenching the paper.
“Luke, what is it?” Leia asked again.
“They got me that old camaro that's been sitting in watto’s scrap yard. I’ve been wanting to fix that old thing up for years!” he grinned like a kid who just got told they were going to disney world.
“There's more at the bottom,” you said with a smile.
Luke shouted again, “NO WAY!”.
“What now?” Leia said, playfully rolling her eyes at her easily excitable brother.
“Mom and dad got me a pass for next year’s car show- I’ll fix up the camaro and enter it!”.
“That’s amazing Luke! You’ve wanted to be in one for forever!”
He smiled and thanked the two of you once more.
After the excitement of the gifts both of the twins went their separate ways to see their new presents; Leia went to test her car and Han helped Luke bring the other car over to the house.
_________________________________________
“Be good for your sister and brother, alright baby?” you said as you hugged Rey close.
You and Anakin’s anniversary was tomorrow so you were leaving for the islands today. Anakin rolled the rest of the luggage into the back of his car before coming back to say goodbyes.
“I will mommy” Rey smiled proudly.
“That’s my girl” Anakin said, walking in from the garage.
“Daddy!” Rey exclaimed, reaching her arms up for Anakin.
He bent down to hug her tight and kissed her head, “Hey Pumpkin, we’ll be back in a week, alright?”.
Rey nodded her head before asking her brother to pick her up. He obliged as you, Anakin and Leia gave your parting hugs.
Next, Luke handed Rey over to Leia so he could hug you two goodbye.
“Have fun kids, we love you and will see you next tuesday” you smiled and waved as you headed for the car.
“make good choices- if I come home to a-“
“don’t worry daddy, i’ll keep these two idiots in line” Leia laughed as she pointed behind her at Han and Luke.
“ok- call if you need anything- love you!”
“of course! Miss you already” the twins smiled before going back into the house.
Once you and Anakin were buckled in, you squeezed his bicep with a wide grin.
“Someone’s excited” he laughed before kissing your forehead.
“You have no idea”
______________________
You arrived at your villa and flopped onto the large bed as Anakin put some of your luggage by the dresser on the other side of the room.
It was one that overlooked a private cove and came with pretty much every special amenity you could ask for (full working juice bar, hot tub, complimentary spa, embroidered towels, personalized rooms, you name it!).
“My love, come here” you called, patting the space beside you.
The smile lines in the corners of his beautiful eyes crinkled as the corners of his mouth turned upward, “alright angel”.
He joined you and kissed you on the temple before asking what you wanted to show him.
You dug around in your bag and pulled out a photo album you had made for your anniversary.
“Happy anniversary, Ani,” you smiled.
He looked at the square book and his eyes softened, “Is this for me?”.
You giggled, “who else would it be for silly?”.
Your heart skipped when his mechanical hands brushed over yours as he took the book from you; even after ten years he still made you feel like a giddy teen.
“Holy shit” he exclaimed as he opened the book, “Where’d you dig this one up from?”.
The first photo was a candid photo from your wedding; you were sitting in Anakin’s lap with your arms around his neck as he looked at you adoringly.
“Rex actually took that one, he showed it to me when I went over there to pick Rey up from her playdate”.
“Maker, we look young- Well, you still look like this… I just look old” he joked.
You kissed his temple, “no you don’t! You’re just well loved” you smiled.
“That’s what you’d say to someone who looks old!” he exaggerated.
You set the book up chronologically so that things from your college days when you first started working for him were at the beginning.
On the next page was a copy of the first check you ever got from him (obviously it was illegal to copy checks- but you weren’t actually going to use it).
His signature was much smoother back when he actually could sign with his hands.
He eyed the page filled with small mementos from your early days together with a smile, “I can’t believe you kept some of this stuff” he said as he ran his mechanical fingers over the valet ticket stub from your first date.
“What can I say, I’m sentimental” you smiled, kissing his cheek.
As the pages continued he watched his younger self become more and more happy with each turn. You really did light up his life.
There were photos of you and the twins playing, candid photos of him, ones that you took with him after long nights of love making… Everything was right here.
“Hah! Look at that” he exclaimed as he came across some hand turkeys and swans you had taught the kids to make the first thanksgiving you were with them.
“I used to find those damn things everywhere!”.
He squinted once he reached the next page, there was a gray text message bubble cut out at the top of the page.
I should be home a bit earlier today, maybe we can watch that movie you’ve been talking about.
“What’s that?” he asked.
“The last text you sent me before you got into your accident” you said, squeezing his upper arm softly.
The next page had a picture of his completely totaled car as well as the first few photos you had of him when he was in a coma. It wasn’t pretty, but it was a part of him- a part of your journey together.
“Fuck, I forgot just how bad the car looked…” he said as he scanned the photo.
His black Audi’s front was completely crushed and it barely looked like a car with the amount of dents and scrapes it’s body had collected.
You still weren’t completely sure what happened that day for it to have been so fatal. And Anakin barely remembered anything from the accident up to a few weeks after.
“Maker- and me!” he said, diverting his analytic gaze to the glossy photos of his broken body lying in the ICU.
You nodded as he continued turning- the next few pages were his recovery period in the hospital; his first picture awake, his first with Ben and Satine, first with Ahsoka, his first with you, and his first with the twins.
Looking back at the pictures made you really see how far he’d come- there was a time when the doctors didn’t think he would make it.
Soon the pictures’ settings began to shift out of the hospital and into the house; his first time back home and other pictures from that christmas (there weren't many photos from the period you and him went through a rough patch, only one or two that Ben had lying around).
The next picture of everyone was at your college graduation; all smiles.
You remembered your graduation like it was yesterday; it was the tail end of your rough patch with Anakin and he was the last person you expected to see in the sea of people. Your massive smile in the photo showcased just how happy you were to see him again.
“You looked so good in that dress, Angel '' he cooed, nuzzling into your neck to steal a quick bite.
“haha - stop!” you giggled, lightly pushing him away.
“You still have it?” he asked jokingly with a smirk.
You rolled your eyes, “...yes”.
His smirk grew into a lopsided grin, “I think you should wear it for me when we get back”.
“HAH! Ani, I don’t even know if it still fits me?!”
He set the book in his lap and squeezed his mechanical hands around your waist making you squeal.
“Ani! That tickles!”
“Yea, i’d say you’d still fit- well maybe not this” he smiled grabbing the fat of your ass.
“Ani!” you scolded.
All he could do was laugh, “What princess? I never said I didn’t like it- You know I love your ass”.
You swatted his hands away with a laugh- “Stop it! Finish looking at the book” you giggled.
He turned his attention back to the album. The next few pages were covered in your wedding photos; a close up on his face when he saw you walk down the aisle, your face when he stood after saying his vows and a nice still photo of your first dance.
“This was the best night of my life,” Anakin said with a reminiscent smile.
“Me too, Ani”.
The next photos were of his return to work, your pregnancy announcement, Rey’s birth, the twins’ first school dance, and other family milestones.
There was a section near the end full of pictures of the kids; “first day of school” pics, vacation pics, and other moments where they were just being themselves.
Finally the last page was the most recent picture of the two of you; it was at a rooftop bar for a gala his company hosted, he was dressed in a nice suit and you wore an off-the-shoulder gown- the photo was a candid Ben had taken of the two of you kissing after Anakin made his speech.
He closed the book lightly and placed it on the end table beside the bed before turning to you with glassy eyes.
“Y/n Skywalker, I love you more than anything on this earth- you are absolutely perfect” he said pulling you into his lap (which you gladly obliged).
“Thank you” he said into your hair as he hugged you close.
You tossed your arms around his neck and held on tightly, “I love you too, Anakin ''.
__________________________________
Anakin’s gift to you was much more extravagant than yours to him, but the whole time he kept apologizing for his not being able to compare to yours (and you knew he meant it).
He took you to one of the nicest restaurants on the island and then took you to the aquarium for part of your present. You were always a big fan of conservation and the oceans, so he donated a large sum to have a portion of the local reef named after you.
“Ani, this is amazing! Thank you so much!” you grinned ear to ear as you ran your fingers over the golden plaque with your name on it.
He shyly cast his gaze away from yours, “It really doesn’t compare to yours- you’ve just always been the better gift giver”.
You shook your head and grabbed his hands, “no, no Ani! I absolutely love this- and they’ll make sure to watch over the reef right?”.
He nodded with a smile, “Yes, my love. This section is under protection and will now be being sustained and cleaned by certified locals so that it will continue to thrive”.
You hugged him, “Thank you, I love it”.
“Of course. Angel”
The two of you walked hand in hand through the dark aquarium (Anakin had it completely reserved for tonight for just the two of you).
Walking through the tunnel of brightly colored fish never failed to mesmerize you; their fluid motions, the shapes and sizes, you loved it.
Anakin watched your expressions change adoringly; after all these years, after becoming a mother, after becoming an influential and respected figure you could always find wonder in the smallest things.
He loved that about you.
You did what he never could, you showed him how to be happy and how to push through the toughest times. That's why he knew you were perfect for him.
After a few stolen kisses under the watery biomes, Anakin had a driver take you back to the villa.
Anakin began a warm bath for you in the fancy whirlpool tub; he opened the sunhatch, tuned on soft lights, added flower petals and some sweet fragrance.
Once he entered the bedroom again, you had gotten undressed and were only wearing one of the new silk robes he got you and a smile.
“Hey Ani” you said with a small wave.
Like a moth to a flame, he walked towards you.
“Hello, my love” he said with his low voice as he placed his mechanical hands on your hips, drawing you closer.
You stood on your tippy toes and kissed him gently, “I think you should join me in the bath”.
When you leaned back he cocked his head to the side with a smirk, “Oh, should I now?”
He played with a strand of your hair that you must have missed when you twisted it up. You nodded and began to take his suit coat off.
He chuckled at your determination and allowed you to help him undress; his body hadn’t seemed to change too drastically but there were some definite differences.
He was more muscular than he was the first years after the accident but still wasn’t at the shape he was when you met him.
He was still slim but he collected some extra fat around his love handles; his crows feet and smile lines were more prominent, but in a way they made him more endearing.
His scars had mostly all faded but every once in a while would flare up. As for his limbs, they all healed pretty well and his prosthetics were regularly updated.
He was still just Anakin though… your Ani.
“I think you’re ready” you said after placing a tender kiss on his bicep.
His robotic digits danced around the hem of your robe until he pulled the loosely tied bow around your waist; the robe cascaded softly around your feet, leaving you bare.
Anakin’s eyes admired your body and he sucked in a breath.
“And now you are too”.
He was not the only one who’s body changed; after having Rey, you gained some light weight and stretch marks, your breasts had grown larger and you seemed to have a bit more fat on your ass (not that Anakin minded at all).
You too had collected some smile lines but you had no problem with them. If you ever felt bad about your body, Anakin swatted those thoughts away really quick.
He always made you feel like the only girl in the world.
With a loving smile you led him into the large bathroom and helped him sit on the side of the tub before disassembling him. He always preferred legs first because he liked to hold onto you as long as he could.
At this point in life there was no part of him you hadn’t seen and no part of you that he hadn’t seen- so he was much less shy about having you help him.
Once everything was off you helped him into the tub; he sighed at the warm water caressing his body, you couldn’t wait to join him.
You stretched once more and entered the tub gracefully. Before long you were lying against Anakin’s chest with a content smile- this was the best anniversary yet.
Out of habit you fidgeted with the gold chain around your neck- you and Anakin had amassed several important dates since you first got each other the pendants.
Anakin’s had your, the kids, and his first wife’s birthdays on them as well as the date of his accident and your wedding. And yours had Anakin’s, and the kids birthdays as well as your graduation date/when he proposed and your wedding day.
After all these years, after all you had been through together- you couldn’t ask for a better lover.
Only the stars knew that the mousy college student you were and the cold mannered businessman Anakin was, would eventually make it work.
You couldn’t be more thankful- and as you sat happily in Anakin’s embrace, you told him what you always did,
“I love you so much Anakin…unconditionally”

“Who-” he breathes. “-the hell asked you to do that?”
No, he thinks through the panicked fog, the evening was going so well.
But it doesn’t matter anymore, and he shakes as he collapses into nearest armchair.
He tries to inhale, but his chest is stilted, barely moving. The light hurts his eye, so he closes it and lets himself fall apart in the middle of empty coffee shop.

I forgot but does both Lucius and Narcissa ttuly love and care for Draco in the books? Sometimes I forget since I've read too many fics
they do, they spoil draco rotten, and their love for him takes higher precedence than voldemort himself, where lucius even tries to ask voldemort to postpone the battle so he can check on draco, and narcissas lie during DH after knowing that dracos still alive
just to show some of the bts info we get for the malfoys:
"My father's next door buying my books and mother's up the street looking at wands,"(...) "Then I'm going to drag them off to look at racing brooms. I don't see why first years can't have their own. I think I'll bully father into getting me one and I'll smuggle it in somehow." (book 1)
“Touch nothing, Draco.” Malfoy, who had reached for the glass eye, said, “I thought you were going to buy me a present.” “I said I would buy you a racing broom,” said his father, drumming his fingers on the counter. (book 2, and then after this lucius bribes the quidditch team so draco can join the team)
“Aren’t—aren’t you afraid, my Lord that Potter might die at another hand but yours?” asked Malfoy, his voice shaking. “Wouldn’t it be. . . forgive me. . . more prudent to call off this battle, enter the castle, and seek him y-yourself?” “Do not pretend Lucius. You wish the battle to cease so that you can discover what has happened to your son. (...)” (book 7)
Lucius and Narcissa Malfoy running through the crowd, not even attempting to fight, screaming for their son. (book 7)
theres alot more, like lucius ensuring that buckbeak gets executed for harming his son, or narcissa sending daily sweets to draco when hes in school, it was also narcissa who opened the idea of snape taking the unbreakable vow to protect draco. lucius and narcissa's love for draco are one of the main reasons he grew up to be an annoying sheltered brat, and i sincerely doubt he'd be this much of a brat if he didnt have both parents to fall back to.

you&i ; maxiel; 1.6k
maybe a little different from something i usually post but i just needed to get this out!
tw: mentions of extensive mental illnesses, slightly unhealthy relationship, disordered eating, medication
it’s one of those days for max. he doesn’t really know why, he never knows why. all he knows is that the world is pressing down on him and he’s exhausted, his body already heavy even though he just woke up. his anxiety is already clutching his throat, squeezing down hard and then harder when he attempts to soothe it. it travels down to his diaphragm and causes everything to stop for a terrifying 1..2..3..4. he gasps. he sits up.
daniel already left for the morning, having to go off and deal with the little fires that seem to be popping up everyday on his new project. it just adds to the growing pressure in his stomach. daniel always knows when he wakes up like this, he always understands without max having to verbalize. without daniel, max feels like he’s already sealed within his walls and he’s left to rot.
there’s a sticky note on max’s phone when he picks it up to look at it, to doomscroll and add to his already terrible mood.
it reads: “love u! left breakfast in the fridge 4 u. remember to take ur meds, plz.” max feels like a slight failure, his husband having to remind him to take his pills so he doesn’t freak out (again) and end up hospitalized.
max gets out of bed, his body feeling like lead. daniel has been on a mission to get max eating twice a day, as his nutritionist recommended he bump up his meal count again, so he makes him breakfast and dinner every single day. max usually eats it. today he does not feel like eating it, so he forgoes it, the curling viper of anxiety just waiting to lunge.
he’ll put it into tupperware to eat tomorrow. daniel will be sad that he didn’t eat it, but he’ll also probably be happy that max didn’t hide it. he’s been working on that, not hiding when he hasn’t eaten. his therapist said that it’s small steps on the way, but it’s big to not hide it. to be honest with his loved ones about what’s going on in his brain.
the psychiatrist at the hospital that he was forced into told him that by lying and doing the things he does, he was acting just like his father. he’s been juggling that thought since then. he’s just like his father if he lies, he’s just like his father if he continues to not take his meds.
when he told daniel the psychiatrist said that, daniel flew into a rage because who says that to someone? but max internalized that. the last thing he ever wanted to be was just like his father and he feared turning into him.
max takes his pills out of the lion themed pill box, the ones that daniel dutifully puts out for him every morning and then locks the medication back up. his therapist also suggested they did that, so max wasn’t tempted to overuse when things weren’t going well in his mind. he hated the implication. he hated that she was right.
he throws back the three pills all together, washing it down with a redbull, chugging it so he can feel like it washed all the way down. at least he managed to do one thing today, which is always an accomplishment.
-
daniel calls on his lunch, his voice cheery through the phone as max curls up their couch with sassy and attempts to finish his homework for his class. he has a pretty low grade in this class and feels guilty if he has to use anymore of daniel’s money to retake it.
“did you eat, princess?” daniel asks him after max told him what he was doing.
his silence was enough to answer for daniel but he allows max to take time to speak.
“no.” he admits finally. “i woke up feeling too anxious. i took the pills.”
daniel hums happily at that, walking past max not eating, which max is happy for. he reminds himself it’s just the little things. the baby steps to get there.
he hears someone come into his office and daniel’s voice grows faint before he comes back on the line and tells max “i have to go, baby, but i’ll be home before three! love you.”
max hums and says “love you too.” before they hang up and he returns to his coursework, sighing in frustration at the fact that he couldn’t figure out the problem that was being proposed to him.
-
when max met daniel, he tried to hide everything that was going on with him, the raging mental health disorders, the serial lying, the eating disorder, the whole dad thing.
until one day, daniel looked at him, looked him dead in the eye and said “i know, max. you don’t have fucking to lie to me.” and suddenly the curtain was pulled back and all of max’s wounds were revealed to broad daylight and he hated it. but daniel didn’t leave, he pulled max close and let him be honest, no matter how hard it was to hear.
daniel loved max and made max want to seek out help instead of desperation and clinging to a facade.
daniel made max promise to at least always be honest with him. max promised. daniel promised as well.
max only ever truly lied once after that and he was so out of practice with daniel that his husband picked up on it immediately. he saved max’s life that night and when max woke up in the hospital, he figured that there was no use in lying to daniel anyways. he always knew.
-
there was a psychologist that asked max if maybe he was holding daniel back, burdening him when daniel was so successful. he could have built a beautiful life and had kids by now with anyone else. someone able to hold a job, someone who graduated high school, someone who didn’t have a diagnostic sheet a mile long.
max asked the psychologist why he wasn’t worthy of that good life as well. but he couldn’t help but let that conversation get to him. max was trying, but daniel was so wonderful and deserved that good life.
he asked daniel about it.
“max emilian ricciardo-verstappen.” his eyes looked troubled “who says you don’t give me a good life? i knew what i was getting myself into the moment you walked into that club and spilled your drink on me. you give me the life i want.” and max let that get to him as well. because everyone always acts like daniel never had a choice. to date him, to love him, to marry him. daniel knew it all. and he still chose max.
-
max was frowning at the stain in the sink when he heard the door open, the tub of ‘pink stuff’ being dropped as the lock clicked and startled him.
he picked up the tub and set it on the counter, digging through the sponge drawer for his handy orange scrub daddy to attempt to get the stains off his beautiful sink.
he leaned back against daniel when he felt the arms around his waist and the kiss to the side of his jaw, relaxing into his husband’s arms as he continued to scrub at the sink, fighting the good fight against the forever persistent water, wine, and food stains.
“still trying to get those out?” daniel teased. max rolled his eyes, turning to peak at daniel over his shoulder.
“i will get these stains out if it’s the last thing i do.” daniel just smiled at him, nodding like he believed him.
“oh absolutely, baby. it’s only a matter of time before you will them out of the century old porcelain. you got it!” he patted his ass and stepped away before max could turn and fully glare at him.
that was another thing his therapist suggested, for max to do something that he finds fulfilling. he doesn’t think she was thinking of him finally getting those stains that have been bugging him since they moved into their house, but when he told her, she just smiled and asked him what he’s tried.
when daniel comes back downstairs, dressed in his workout clothes and holding his phone, max sets down his scrub daddy and says, loudly “you said i couldn’t work out if i didn’t eat. so i’m of course not coming.” which meant that he really wanted to go.
daniel raised an eyebrow in his direction, his lips curling up as he asks “do you want to come and watch?” max practically sprints to get his own workout clothes on, even though daniel won’t let him work out but he likes watching anyways.
daniel has a meal supplement shake in his hand for him when he’s back down, whistling at him in his sweats and baggy tee, which is cut down to his hips practically. he’s pretty sure it’s daniel’s but he just threw on what he saw.
max chugs the shake and takes daniel’s hand as they walk to the gym, swinging his water bottle on the way as they chat about the day.
max wishes daniel didn’t have such an impact on his mood but he’s come to terms with it long ago when he realized that this was long term for them. so he tries to navigate as best as he can.
-
when they’re laying in bed, daniel tracing shapes on max’s back, daniel asks him what he asks every night:
“how was it today?” and max tells him honestly.
“i woke up anxious, that’s why i didn’t eat. i struggled with my class, and it made me very upset, of course. but going to the gym, eating dinner, and finally being able to orgasm made it better. i feel like today was a better day than last week’s tuesday.”
daniel’s fingers pause on his back and then resume, a small laugh falling from his lips as he looks down at max, whispering “i’m glad, baby. it’s the small steps.”

Unconditionally: Joel Miller x OC { Part 1/10 }
Tumblr media
Summary: Lucy loves Joel Miller unconditionally. A cross country trip to escort an immune, bad mouthed teenager to safety might just prove it.
CWs: canon typical violence / unsafe sex / age gap / language / spoilers (if anyone cares) / canon divergence / mentions of attempted sexual assault / themes of previous suicidal tendencies
Note: this work is intended for adult audiences only. It is not strictly canon compliant, and was originally posted to A03 when I first ventured into the fandom.
Unconditionally. Part One of Thirteen.
Joel doesn’t want to stay the night, not really. It feels too much like invading the peace, too much like an intrusion, even though Bill and Frank are dead. Maybe that’s precisely why it feels that way.
It feels too much like an intrusion, and he’s lost enough, as of late. He didn’t much like Bill, and he’s certain that feeling was mutual. Grudgingly, he admits he didn’t mind Frank so much. He was hard to dislike, even by someone as prickly as Joel. He can’t afford to get caught up in thinking on it, not too heavily. Even with Tess gone… he has two travelling companions still relying on him. One more than the other, he supposed, on account of Ellie being a goddamn kid. Lucy, not so much. The younger woman he met by chance in the QZ isn’t bad with a weapon, and she’s good at being stealthy. All good traits in a smuggler. He never wanted a fucking apprentice, or whatever the hell she started as, but when she found out he was leaving the QZ, she’d pretty much invited herself along to “watch his dumb ass”. He hadn’t exactly argued.
As requested in the letter, he doesn’t go into the bedroom. What he does do, before he showers, is take inventory of the gas canisters, the truck, the supplies in the garage. Only once he has an idea of what they’re working with, does he relent to Ellie’s nagging and hit the shower.
For a kid, she’s persistent.
It’s not his ideal scenario, to crash for the night in the bunker Bill installed beneath his house long before the infection ever started, but it soon becomes clear to him that it’s the scenario he gets.
Ellie’s rubbing her eyes, clearly exhausted but making a show of pretending she isn’t; even the hype of the handgun she pocketed earlier can’t fight off fatigue. Joel doesn’t know about the weapon, nor does Lucy, and in Ellie’s eyes, the adults guarding her don’t need to know. Not yet anyway.
Lucy doesn’t look much better; there’s only so far you can go on caffeine pills and pure adrenaline, and Joel fully expects her to crash at any moment. She’s currently examining the wall of guns along the far side of the bunker, occasionally pausing to check the security cameras.
“We may as well stay here for the night.” Joel offers, because he knows Lucy wants to ask, but won’t, and he’d rather she was sharp for the journey ahead.
“You sure?” She’s not questioning him, more making certain; she knows he’s not a huge fan of staying in one place for too long. Even though the compound is protected, it still feels too exposed. Too risky.
“May as well. We can get some sleep, load up the truck and be out of here by dawn.” He’s already taking a mental inventory of everything they’ll be taking with them.
“Right.” Lucy turns her attention back to the wall of guns, running her fingers over a few, occasionally taking one down to test the weight of it, to see how fast it reloads and cocks.
Ellie, meanwhile, busies herself opening a cardboard box stamped: US ARMY MRE RATION.
“Is this food?” She turns a vacuum sealed bag over in her hands, squinting at it.
Lucy looks over her shoulder, a rifle in her hands.
“Oh, yeah. That’s old shit, but it’ll survive anything. Whatcha got there?”
“Chilli.” Ellie reads the print on the package, “and something called a snack cake? The fuck is a snack cake?”
“Exactly what it sounds like. Probably an old Twinkie.” Lucy puts the rifle back and selects another, weighing it in her hands, checking the ammunition capacity. Satisfied, she raids the ammunition cabinet nearby then sets about repacking her backpack.
“It’s safe to eat, if that’s what you mean.” Joel reaches past Ellie to snag his own freeze dried food, unsealing the package to inspect the contents.
It’s not the best meal they’ve ever eaten, but it’s decidedly better than some of the worst, and certainly enough that each of the trio made room in their backpacks for a few of the rations. Better to have ancient, somewhat tasteless food, than no food at all.
“So we’re sleeping down here?” Ellie surveys the bunker in mild amusement. They’re all aware there’s a spare room upstairs and a couch, but it feels too exposed, and too much like squatting.
“May as well. You take the cot, Ellie.” Lucy nods to the camping cot tucked away against the wall, under a rolled sleeping mat and a small stack of blankets.
“Not gonna complain.” The teen shrugs, helps move the sleeping mat and most of the blankets off the cot, then drops herself down onto the surface, pausing only to take off her new hoodie.
Joel keeps his eyes on the security cameras as Lucy unrolls the sleeping mat; it’s relatively large, they can probably both squash onto it and have enough room, and a blanket each.
“Tonight only.” He warns both woman and girl, “don’t get comfortable.”
Lucy sticks her tongue out at him. She wants to argue with him, make a smartass comment about it being impossible to get comfortable on a thin ass sleeping mat in a bunker, but she knows the road ahead is likely to be unpleasant, far more uncomfortable than the current situation.
Joel rolls his eyes, watches as she unlaces her boots and leaves them to the side of the sleeping mat; if they were anywhere else, he knows that she wouldn’t have taken her shoes off at all. But if they’re compromised in the night? Best thing they can do is wait it out in the bunker. He’s not going to begrudge her taking off her shoes, not when he plans on doing the same.
He glances over to the cot, where Ellie’s already out like a light. He has to hand it to the kid, her ability to sleep wherever the fuck they land is somewhat impressive.
Another glance, to Lucy this time, then he returns to the security feed.
“We can swap out watching the monitors, if you wanna be sure.” Lucy unfolds a thin, itchy blanket, then another. Sighs. Wool isn’t what it used to be.
“Honestly there ain’t much point, but. I’m not the type to be a sitting duck. Not that we’ve got much choice.” Joel frowns, surveys the makeshift double bed Lucy’s put together. “I can sleep in the chair.”
“At your age?” Lucy’s mouth turns up into a smirk, the way it always does when she’s teasing. He can hear it in her voice, even when she turns away from him so she can crawl under the blanket, nose wrinkled with distaste at the fabric.
“Rude.” Joel replies without rancor; honestly, the chair looks uncomfortable as hell, more so than the camping mat, itchy blankets or no.
“Don’t argue with me,” Lucy says in response, “there’s room. Besides, these blankets fucking suck. We’ll freeze down here without each other.”
Her tone is playful, makes it clear she’s just messing with him. Sighing, he takes off his own shoes, leaves them on his side of the ‘bed’, then sets his handgun down beside them, within reach. He notices she’s done the same thing, has her pistol within reach, just in case. Her new rifle isn’t far off, either. He wants to think he’s taught her well, but honestly, Lucy was a survivor before he met her.
Joel turns out the fluorescent overhead lights, leaving the bunker illuminated only by a camping lantern next to the ‘bed’ and the security feed monitors.
He strips off his coat, folding it into a makeshift pillow, then slides under the blankets, immediately feeling the slight itch of old fabric mixed with the chill of the night coming.
“These blankets do suck.” He comments as he turns onto his side, facing her. He can look over her shoulder or prop himself up to check the monitors every now and then. He doesn’t think they’ll be disturbed, not really, not down here. It’s probably the only secure night of sleep they’ll get until they’re back in the QZ, or something similar.
“Told you.” Lucy huddles under them nonetheless; he supposes it is somewhat cold down here, and it’ll only get colder during the night. That, and she gave the best blanket to the kid. Of course she did.
He looks over her shoulder to check the monitors one last time before he turns his attention back to her; she’s trying not to shiver, even in the long pants - jeans - and shirt she’s wearing.
“Fuck sake, c’mere before you wake the kid with your chattering teeth.” Again, there’s no heat in his words as he opens his arms to her. Anyone else, it might feel weird or uncomfortable, but Lucy is just…. Lucy.
She doesn’t even hesitate, even though she might have normally done so. She’s too damn cold to care, and fully aware it’ll be a long night if they don’t warm up soon.
When she’s right against him, Joel pulls the two blankets over the pair of them, adding an extra layer to her before wrapping his arms around her, rubbing his hands up her back to generate heat.
“How are you always a goddamn furnace?” It comes out muffled, on account of her face being buried in the crook of his shoulder, cheek resting on his collarbone.
“Luck of the draw.”
“Very funny.”
He can feel the curve of her smile against his neck, though, so he knows he hasn’t actually annoyed her with his sarcasm.
“Warming up?” He doesn’t want to push her away, not really. They’ve shared a bed - or a makeshift one - plenty of times, when the situation has called for it. There’s never been anything strange about it, not really, and if there’s an unspoken tension? Well, that’s not his problem. Or so he tells himself.
“Little bit.” Her lips graze his throat when she speaks, but she’s not so tense now; clearly she’s warming up, feeling more at ease than she was before.
“Good. Can’t have you come all this way just to lose you to frostbite.”
“I don’t think it’s cold en- oh.” She huffs, realising too late he was making another joke, albeit in that dry way of his.
A low chuckle escapes his throat, not laughing at her; at least, not in a mocking way, more just amused by her embarrassment and the little huff she made.
“Just tell me if you’re still cold.”
“A little,” she admits, “but I’ll take being a little cold as a fair trade for a single night of sleeping in relative comfort and safety.”
She said relative, so he doesn’t argue with her, just keeps running his hands up and down her back.
“We’ll find somewhere safe enough in Wyoming. After.” Joel says instead. He doesn’t add the unspoken rest: after they find his brother. After they find someone who can take Ellie in. Lucy understands; there are too many variables, too many things that could go wrong.
“Go back to being FEDRA slaves?” She suggests.
“If that’s what it takes to be safe, sure.”
He can’t see her roll her eyes in the dimmed light, not really, but he can almost hear her doing it.
“Safe.” She mutters, “as if that’s a reality.”
Joel hums agreement, adjusts his arm around her, tucks the blankets a little tighter around her shoulders.
They lay in silence for a few minutes, Joel watching the monitors, thinking she must have drifted off to sleep, when her soft voice breaks the near silence.
“Thank you.”
“For what? Keeping you warm?” He isn’t too sure what precisely she’s thanking him for.
“Keeping me around. Keeping me safe as best you can. I know I get on your last nerve, but I really do appreciate you.”
He can feel the heat of her breath on his skin as she speaks, hushed words into his good ear, not wanting to disturb Ellie.
“You don’t get on my last nerve.” He says finally, “and you don’t have to thank me. You watch my ass, I watch yours. It’s a good partnership.”
He can feel her smiling again.
“No longer a padawan, huh?”
It’s his turn to smile, a rarity for him.
“Those movies are older than both of us. How do you even know that phrase?”
“Keeper of my secrets, I am. Never know everything, will you.” Lucy responds, mimicking Yoda in a whisper.
Joel has to turn his face into her hair to muffle his own laugh, instead getting a good inhale of whatever shampoo she pilfered from the shower earlier. Something floral.
“Nerd.”
“I miss pop culture.” Lucy half shrugs, dislodging the blanket, then shivers and tucks herself further under his arm, pausing only to peek over at Ellie, who’s still a steadily breathing shape under her own blanket, probably a great deal warmer for not being practically on the concrete floor. Lucky kid.
“I miss good music and decent coffee.” Joel readjusts the blanket again, tucks the edges down around her shoulder to keep the chill out.
He misses about fifty other things, some things far more painful to talk about than others; he’s barely been able to talk about Sarah with her. He doesn’t know if he ever will. But he doesn’t want to ruin the good feeling between them by being a downer, even if he thinks she’ll understand, so he keeps it light.
“Gas station coffee was never decent.” Lucy counters, “but I get you.”
“Yeah? You were a Frappuccino girl, huh?”
“Latte.” She informs him, “with a flavour syrup.”
Joel snorts in spite of himself.
“And here I am giving you the shittiest black coffee in the history of shitty instant coffee.”
“That means we have access to it, so I’ll take it.” Her tone makes it plain she doesn’t mind, not really. Her preference might have once been for sweet coffees with lots of almond milk, but these days, she’ll take whatever caffeine she can find. Especially when it means he’s sharing his limited supply with her.
“You’re too kind.”
She’s laughing again, soft sounds muffled in his shoulder, but at least she’s no longer shivering.
“If you say so.” She says finally, hands flat against his chest, keeping herself as close as possible, trying to conserve heat. “I guess I should move, huh? I’m not about to freeze on you anymore, so.”
He doesn’t want her to move. Even the four or five inches they’d have between them if she did suddenly feels like too far.
“Only if you want to.” He says finally, “I don’t want you to just freeze again. I’m comfortable like this, if you are.”
Lucy shrugs against him.
“I’m not opposed to this.”
If there’s more she isn’t saying, that’s her business. Joel doesn’t pry, because quite frankly he’s not sure he wants to go down that path. Not because he finds her unappealing, but because letting someone close could have dire consequences.
So he just hums agreement, rests his chin on top of her head. Almost expects that to be the end of it, until -
“Not opposed to it, or okay with it?” He speaks before he can think it through, and he knows it. Wants to take it back almost right away, because this is precisely down the path he wanted to avoid. Apparently not. Again, he’s not blind to the tension between them, but he isn’t truly sure he wants to allow someone to get close to him. Not after so many losses.
“What a leading question.” Lucy tilts her head against his shoulder.
“That’s not an answer.” If he’s going to walk this path, he may as well walk it properly. Or maybe she’ll save them both the awkwardness and just go to sleep.
“Do I really need to answer it? Spell it out for you?” She laughs softly, “I’m comfortable here. I feel safe here, with you.”
“Nowhere’s safe, Lu. You said it yourself.” Joel feels like a dick the moment he says it, but he’s trying to keep it light, almost afraid to let this go any further, even if he wants it to.
“I know that. What I mean is this. Lying here like this. It feels nice.” She knows she’s doing a terrible job at explaining herself, but he’s caught her off guard.
“Yeah. I get you.” He admits, because he’s not so much of a jerk that he’ll let her confess that and not be honest in return.
“I know you do.” She adjusts herself, fingers playing idly with the fabric of his shirt. “Get me, I mean.”
It takes him a moment to formulate a response; he’s almost ashamed of how distracted her touch makes him, as though he hadn’t been running his hands up and down her back a short while ago. As though he hadn’t been distracting her just as much, even if he doesn’t know it.
“Be a shit team if I didn’t, huh?” His hand moves to briefly cover hers, planning on giving it a light squeeze of reassurance before letting go.
Lucy has other plans, flipping her hand over and interlocking her fingers with his, surprising both of them.
“What are you doing?” He asks, truly surprised by her touch.
“Tell me to stop, and I will.” There’s a quiet determination in her voice, something he’s heard only hints of before. Not like this.
“I’m not gonna tell you to stop.” Joel says finally, “Hell, I got you wrapped up against me. How’s it any different?”
He’s being deliberately vague, toying with her. He doesn’t mean to, but he’s curious how far she’ll push it. He’s almost glad she’s making the first steps.
“To keep warm.” She reminds him, “that’s why I said… tell me to stop if you want me to.”
“I don’t want you to stop, honestly. This is nice.”
He means that; it’s been far too damn long since he held anyone like this, let alone had someone hold his hand the way she’s holding him, her smaller thumb tracing over his, rubbing little circles. It’s soothing, and quite frankly probably the only tiny piece of serenity they’ll get for a while.
“I’m glad.” There’s a sheer honesty in her voice, even with it pitched so low, so as not to wake Ellie.
He sighs, weighing his options in his head, fighting a losing battle with himself if he’s honest. Maybe it’s strange to even be considering any sort of romantic entanglement when laying in the basement of someone else’s house, when that someone else is dead in the bedroom the floor above. But somehow, Joel thinks, Bill and Frank would understand. Here, in this house, where their story began and ultimately ended… why shouldn’t it be the place something else starts too?
“Hey, you okay in there?” Lucy tilts her head up to look at him, eyes searching his face, trying to figure out what he’s thinking.
“Yeah. Just thinking.”
“Escape route?” She’s only half joking, so used to him constantly being wired, attuned to their surroundings.
“Not quite.”
“Then what? Is everything alright?” Truly she sounds concerned, which in itself is touching. Maybe it once annoyed him that she gave a shit, but now? It’s grown on him.
“Everything’s fine. Honestly.”
She’s still looking at him like she doesn’t quite believe him, like she’s trying to work him out. Fuck it. Why shouldn’t this be the place something else begins too? Isn’t that what they’d have wanted? Isn’t that why Bill left him an entire goddamn arsenal? To protect those he cares about? So maybe that’s a foul mouthed teenager and a woman he used to help scavenge black market medicine with. Better than the alternative. Better than the aching emptiness of being alone.
Lucy’s still looking at him, lips slightly parted.
“Ah, what the hell.” Joel mutters, and tilts his head down so he can connect his mouth with hers.
It’s not the perfect moment to kiss her, not really. They’re barely above freezing cold in the basement of their dead friends’ house, with their antsy charge asleep twelve feet away, but it feels right nonetheless, and hell, it may be the only chance he gets.
Seize the fucking day, or whatever whoever said that shit said.
He’s almost surprised by how soft her mouth is; honestly, in a world without makeup, or very little of it, he knows her singular concession to vanity is chapstick, if she can find it. She doesn’t waste her time trying to find box dye or eyeliner or anything else that she once used daily, lets her hair be streaked with silver in places without shame or concern. She wears practical clothes to keep herself comfortable and protected, usually keeps her hair tied back for safety. And yet somehow, somehow, she has the softest goddamn mouth he’s ever kissed.
She half pulls away, just for a second, her eyes searching his once more. She must have found some sort of answer in his gaze, because she doesn’t hesitate to lean back in to initiate another kiss.
Lucy’s younger than him, it’s true, but not by so much that she’s inexperienced; that much is clear by their second kiss, by the way her teeth nip gently at his bottom lip, almost demanding better access to his mouth. He doesn’t remotely hesitate to let her, lips parting, letting their tongues entwine as he pulls her tighter against his chest, holding her there for a moment before he rolls them, carefully, propping himself up on one elbow so he’s not putting his entire weight on top of her.
She breaks the kiss once more, glances over to the other occupant of the room. Joel looks too. Still dead asleep.
“We’ll have to be quiet.” He breathes into her ear, dropping a kiss below her jaw. “Can you do that?”
A little smirk is her first answer.
“I’m sure I can.” She hums, undoes the top button of his new borrowed shirt so she can lean up and drop a kiss to his collarbone.
Once, she might have bitten, left a little mark, but since the outbreak, biting one another has sort of lost any amorous appeal. Thanks, cordyceps.
Still, the kiss there is intimate enough, considering. He doesn’t stop her, lets her hands wander down his chest, settling there for a moment before they slide under his shirt, fingertips tracing every old scar she can find, like she’s committing every inch of him to memory.
His hand - the one that isn’t occupied propping himself up, slides along her side, thumb rubbing circles on her hip. It’s the most he’s touched another person in months. Years, maybe. He can’t say he dislikes it; it’s unfamiliar, sure, to be touching another person in a caring and intimate way, but he’s certainly not opposed to it at all.
“Joel…”
He’s not entirely sure, but it almost sounds like a plea. One he’s more than happy to answer, letting his hand drift to the button of her jeans. He’s gotta admit, he’s glad he can get them undone with one hand, not wanting to appear as out of practise as he realistically is.
Her hands slide out of his shirt to help tug her jeans down, not fully off, but out of the way. Neither of them are stupid enough to undress fully, not in their surroundings. They’ll make do, and Lucy does, shaking one foot loose from her pants, keeping them looped around her other ankle. Their shirts can stay on, not wanting to waste time or expose themselves too fully.
As her hands move again, he leans down into another kiss; it’s his turn to nip at her lips this time, leaning right into her as she gets his jeans undone. It only takes her a moment, considering she has both her hands to work with.
Speaking of hands. He has one free, and he decides to make use of it, rubbing his fingers across her hips, now bare to him, just watching how she responds to each little touch. He doesn’t get much time to observe her, though; she seems far more interested in kissing him, which is fine, it’ll at least keep her relatively quiet as things progress. It’s a shame; honestly, he almost wishes they were back in his apartment in the QZ, or hers, somewhere where he could coax all sorts of interesting sounds out of her and not care about the volume. But things have changed, and they’re here now, and that necessitates they be as quick and quiet as possible.
It’s almost disappointing. He would have liked to take his time, but well. He’ll take the situation as it is. His fingers move inwards, across her thigh, slowly, teasing her, their lips still locked together, her tongue teasing at his bottom lip between kisses.
He can tease right back, letting his fingers slide between her thighs, pausing just before he reaches his target to break their kiss.
“Remember what I said about quiet.” He warns, a gentle reminder whispered into her ear. She hums her assent, her fingers carding through his silver streaked hair, as though she can’t get enough of just simply touching him.
He understands the feeling, truly, but he has other plans, beyond touching her hair. His fingers trail along her inner thigh, amused to find her already soaked and waiting for him. Amused, yes, but aroused, too; his thumb finds the little bundle of nerves at the apex of her core, rubs it slowly, watches her eyes widen, her teeth sink into her lip to keep herself from making a sound.
He finds himself smirking, just a little, rubbing slow little circles on her sensitive skin, fingers skimming across wetness, spreading it, coating his fingertips in it.
Her lips part in a silent gasp as he slowly slides two fingers inside her, giving her a warning look as he curls them, buried to the knuckle inside her soaked heat. He can feel himself aching against the fabric of his jeans; even unbuttoned, he feels constricted, a dull aching need throbbing in him.
“Been thinking about this for a while,” he admits, voice still low and sensual in her ear, “maybe not in this setting, but I’ll take it.”
He keeps slowly moving his fingers, pumping them in and out, agonisingly slow, wanting to watch her reaction, wanting her to beg him for more. He knows her well, knows her better than he’d like to admit, and he knows damn well she’ll crumble eventually.
It comes sooner than he expected; he can feel her tensing up, her back arched up, her chest pressing flush against his, her entire body trembling. And somehow, somehow, she manages to stay almost completely silent, burying her face in his chest to muffle the tiniest of whimpers that fall past her parted lips.
“That’s it, baby,” he murmurs, pulling his fingers out of her slowly, “just ride it out. You’re okay. I got you.”
Her whimpers fade as she recovers, lies back, gazes at him with half-shut, adoring eyes. Fuck, why has he never done this before? All this time…
He wipes his soaked fingers on his pants, pausing just a moment before he moves the offending fabric out the way, tugging them down slightly, freeing himself. He damn near sighs himself when her hand wraps around his length, stroking slowly, her thumb caressing the tip of him.
“I want you so bad,” she whispers, leaning up to kiss him softly, “you have no idea…”
He laughs, a quietly amused chuckle.
“I’m getting an idea, darling. Don’t worry. It’s nowhere near as much as I’ve wanted you.”
It feels wrong, in a way, how long he’s wanted her, since the first time they ventured out of the QZ together, since she proved herself a capable survivor, since she back talked him and brought a smile to his face.
Her impossibly soft mouth curves into a smile.
“Then take me,” she whispers against his lips, “I’m yours, Joel. All yours.”
As she speaks, her hand tightens slightly around him, guiding him between her legs, rubbing the head of his length against her dripping sex.
“Mine.” He repeats softly, before he sinks into her, slowly, inch by inch. He has the foresight to cover her mouth with his, to muffle the soft moan that falls from her lips.
Fuck, she feels so good. So warm and tight around him, her velvet walls tightening and pulsing as he buries himself to the hilt.
Her fingers ball into the flannel of his shirt as she returns his eager, desperate kiss, wrapping her freed leg around his waist loosely.
He breaks the kiss, takes a breath, before he slowly starts to move. Her head falls back against the sleeping mat, eyes half closed as her leg tightens around his waist, drawing him in deeper. In spite of himself, a low groan tears from his chest.
“Careful there, baby girl,” he murmurs, “careful.”
He’s warning himself as much as he is her, reminding himself to keep his head as best he can. It’s difficult, so difficult, when her fingers are curled in his shirt, when she’s so tight and wet around him, when her breathing is becoming more and more frantic as he starts to move again.
Lucy leans up to pull him against her, her lips brushing his throat.
“Joel…”
He understands what she’s asking, without her having to say it; he picks up the pace, lets his hips rock against hers a little harder, a little faster. He has to bury his face in her shoulder to muffle his own sounds; it’s been so long since he was intimate with someone, and she’s so desperate for him, one of her hands leaving his shirt to tangle in salt and pepper curls.
They’re both being pushed to the limit, trying to keep as silent as possible, not wanting to wake Ellie, trying to keep their noise as low as they possibly can, quieter than the low hum of the generator Bill kept down here, just in case, always switched on and wired to the security system.
“You feel so good,” Lucy whispers, lifts her leg slightly higher around his waist, wraps it tighter, keeping him buried inside her. Her voice shakes as she whispers it, as he keeps up the deep, steady thrusts, in and out of her.
“Mm, you have no idea, baby girl. No idea how good you feel. How are you so fucking wet?” He can’t help the low moan that he lets out into her ear as his hips steadily collide with hers, harder and faster, chasing both of their release.
She can’t answer, not a full word, only tiny whimpers as she clings to him, raking her fingers through his hair. She can’t get enough of touching him, of feeling him close to her, the scratch of his beard on the skin of her throat.
“So close…” she whispers, back arched up against him, “don’t stop…”
“Not a chance, baby girl. Not a chance.” He murmurs, picking up his pace once again. Chances are he’ll feel this in his lower back and his hips tomorrow, but he’s beyond caring. All that matters is her, and the pleasure building between them, and her soft, soft mouth, kissing at every inch of him she can reach.
His mouth finds hers, captures it in a deep kiss, letting his tongue sweep her mouth as she clings to him, feels her tighten around him, feels her entire body tremble as he brings her to a steady climax, feels her soak every inch of his length as he buries himself to the very hilt inside her. Her moans and whimpers of pure pleasure are muffled by their kiss, her hand tightening in his hair for the briefest moment before she goes limp, lets her hand fall from his hair, caressing his face gently before her hand falls.
“I know baby, I know. Let go for me,” he murmurs, presses a kiss to her forehead, “that’s it, darling, breathe through it…”
She whimpers again, links her fingers with his.
Regrettably, Joel realises he can’t hold back much longer, not with how tight she is, the fluttering of her around him. His mind is hazy with pleasure, becoming more and more clouded with each snap of his hips.
He presses deep one final time, rolls his hips into hers slowly, before he reluctantly pulls out of her warm heat, spilling his release onto her stomach with a low groan against her lips.
The temptation to finish inside her had been overwhelming, but he wasn’t about to risk any complications. Not in this world.
Joel rests his forehead against hers, breathing heavily. Lucy glances over to ensure they’re still as alone as they can be, before she exhales, sighs, looks down at their joined hands and smiles weakly.
“That’s it,” he sighs, “fuck…”
He’s most certainly going to feel this in the morning, but he’s in no rush to roll away from her; he moves so he’s no longer on top of her, tucks himself back into his jeans and gives her a moment to pull her own pants back on. Once she’s redressed, he pulls her right back into his arms, inhaling the scent of her hair, their mingled sweat.
“You alright there, old timer?” She whispers, pure tease and thinly veiled adoration.
Joel huffs.
“This old timer just made you come so hard you went limp. Smartass.” He kisses her forehead and she giggles softly.
“Yeah, but I’m your smartass.” Her fingers trace the lines of his face, committing every little wrinkle and detail to memory. Just in case.
“True enough,” he agrees, pulling her closer against his chest.
Joel isn’t one to half ass things; he’s a stoic bastard at times, sure, but he’s protective as hell when he cares, and hell, he cares about her. He wasn’t kidding when he said she was his, and they both know it.
“Joel?” There’s a hesitation in her voice as she says his name. It’s a harsh contrast to the soft, adoring reverence with which she spoke minutes before.
“Yeah?”
“Are you gonna pretend this never happened in the morning?” There’s a raw fear in the way she asks it, the way she doesn’t sugarcoat it or dress it up. He likes that about her. That she’s brutally honest.
“No.” He says finally, “there’s no going back. I’m not gonna shut you out like that. It’s… not easy for me. You know that. But … for you? I’ll try.”
“I know it’s not easy.” She agrees, fingertips tracing in his hair, her other hand splayed on his chest, “I just… that’s all I want. For you to try. I just want you.”
“I know. Don’t worry, baby girl. You’ve got me.” He presses a soft kiss to her lips before he kisses her forehead once more.
He’s a lot of things, but he’s not a liar. Not to her. Never to her.
She hums happy agreement, “You know you’ve got me. Til the very end.”
“I know.” He assures her, shifts the blankets tighter around them. “Try get some sleep, darling. I’ll be here when you wake up. Then we can hit the road.”
“Hmm,” she sighs, nuzzles her face into his shoulder. “You should get some sleep too.”
“I plan on it. Someone tired me out.” He chuckles, surprised at his own good mood, in spite of everything he’s lost recently.
“Your own fault.” Lucy replies, her voice heavy with sleepiness as she settles against him.
Try as he might to fight his own fatigue, he can feel it overwhelming him. He’s exhausted, warm and comfortable, and the weight of her in his arms is so goddamn inviting.
“Not a fault.” He mumbles, but she’s already asleep, unable to answer him.
———
Morning dawns, but Joel is awake long before he originally planned to be. He wants to take an inventory of supplies, pack up Bill’s truck, and hit the road, but first he wants to allow himself a moment.
It’s been so long since he simply lay in a bed with someone, let alone allowed himself to hold someone in such an intimate way.
Lucy’s still asleep, her head tucked on his shoulder, arm draped over him, legs tangled with his. They’ve shared a bed before, but only for necessity. Never have they allowed themselves to become intimate before, and now…
If he thought he was protective of her before, it’s nothing compared to the dull ache in his chest whenever he looks down at her now, taking in every detail of her sleeping face.
“I’m yours,” she had said, “all yours.”
There had been so much longing in her voice, going beyond lust and physical need. He doesn’t think he deserves it, and yet. And yet he isn’t going to refuse her. Not when he so desperately, deeply, needs her to be his.
He sighs. Presses a kiss to her forehead, untangles himself from her just as she stirs.
“Time to get going?” She asks, her voice thick and heavy with sleep.
“Yeah. Time to pack up and move on.” He almost wishes they could stay in this stupid bunker for a little longer, but that’s not their path. Wyoming calls. His brother waits.
Lucy doesn’t argue, just sits herself up, untangles her hair, braids it back and slips her boots on.
“I’ll pack up some supplies from down here.” She offers. He likes that about her; she asked him for reassurance before they slept, but she’s not about to ask for it every five minutes. They both know everything’s changed between them now, but simultaneously, nothing has. All they’ve really done is act on what was already there.
“Great idea. Some rations, some ammo. Whatever you think we need.” Joel shoves his own shoes on, surveys the monitors for a moment. All quiet.
“I’ll get Ellie ready, too.”
“I’ll fuel up the truck, pack a few things. Come on up when you’re ready.” Almost without thinking, he drops a kiss to her lips on his way past, climbs the ladder, pushes the bunker door open, and disappears into the morning light.
Lucy stares after him for a moment before she’s interrupted by a soft snicker. Turning, she finds Ellie sitting up and staring at her, grinning.
“What?”
“I fuckin’ knew you two were a thing.” Ellie shrugs, unravels herself from her blanket and tosses her jacket over her shoulders.
“Wh-?” Lucy doesn’t even try to deny it.
“I saw that. And I see the way you two look at each other. It’s gross. You’re both old.” Ellie makes a face as she starts to pack MRE rations into her backpack.
“I’m not that old!” Lucy protests, somewhat lamely.
“Not as old as Joel, that’s for sure.” Ellie smirks, then laughs when Lucy opens her mouth. “I’m just fucking with you. I don’t care. Maybe it’ll get him to stop being such a stone cold asshole.”
Lucy laughs in spite of herself, stocks her own backpack with another box of ammunition for her new rifle and her handgun, before shoving a few rations of her own on top.
“Not gonna argue there,” she agrees, “c‘mon. He’s fuelling up so we can leave. Let’s go.”
“Back to the road. Yay.” Ellie sticks her tongue out, takes one last look around the bunker, then heads for the ladder.
Lucy follows her, taking one last look at the rumpled sleeping mat on the floor, a small smile crossing her face.
She’s not sure where they’ll go from here, but it doesn’t matter. She has Joel, and he has her, and that’s all that matters right now.

Saw your 'Mario has PTSD too' post and I love it. The idea of him trying to pretend that everything is fine for Luigi is just so... augh. I love this trope of a character botteling up their feelings for the sake of others until they can't anymore. May I add a little something? Mario also had a near death experience from getting exploded from the rainbow road and then being eaten by an eel. So I guess he would have PTSD from this too
(Referring to this post!)
Thanks!! It really gets to me too. I just think Mario is very much wrapped up in being The Strong One, The One Who Protects And Makes Things All Right and Can Be Leaned On, and he WANTS to be that post-movie more than anything because goodness knows Luigi needs it (not even just from a mental perspective, but physical too, considering the poor thing hardly slept or got any food/water for what seemed like multiple days!) but there's also his own exhaustion and the dawning realization of how close things were, how his brother could have very easily died if one little thing happened differently, and the guilt, so much GUILT for essentially being the reason all this happened - it's a lot!! And then the guilt would compound once he starts to slip and knows that Luigi can probably tell, and he doesn't want to make him MORE worried when his little brother's already going through his own struggles, so that just makes him try HARDER to seem Totally Normal and Fine and In Control, and it's not a good cycle. :( (But it doesn't take too long before the inevitable breakdown and the brothers getting to cry it out together. Sometimes you just need to do some messy crying and hugging to feel better!!!!)
And yeah, I think that makes sense! Mario didn't have a cakewalk of a time either, that's for sure, even if there were some nice/peaceful moments in his journey. I saw in one fic someone theorize that maybe loud sounds would instantly make him shift into danger mode and being really on edge because of the blue shell for a little while, and I think that makes sense. And man, the eel stuff really does get more disturbing the more you think about it!! DK and Mario sniping at each other is funny, but I still really wish that scene had been given a little more room to breathe and resonate as a stronger, sadder Darkest Moment in the movie. Especially the line "at least your brother's not gonna die because of you!" which is heavy stuff, man! Mario's clearly angry and upset and feels like the situation is all his fault and he's never going to see Luigi again (heck, he'll never see the rest of his family or his home again either) and he tried so hard but he's finally reached a truly hopeless state where he just wants to wallow in how he's let everyone down and be left alone, which is rare for him. It's a brief moment, but a rough one for sure.
(And maybe once it's all over, he closes his eyes and sometimes still sees himself there, wet and cold and broken down, and there's a moment of blind panic where he's convinced he's imagined everything that happened past that point and he's about to be digested and die down here at the bottom of the ocean, with the horrible certainty that Luigi's dead too, that his brother died alone and scared all because of his stupidity, and he can't breathe, he can't BREATHE - and then he wakes up/comes back to the moment and it's all okay, he knows rationally that it's okay now but he still can't fully calm down because what if NEXT TIME.....)

hi, i love your fuc "unconditionally" and whenever i am feeling sad , or burnt out i keep going back to that awesome fic. It seems like an excerpt from life and it is a perfect blend of angst and love .
it feels like a chicken soup to emotional wounds. i love it a lot and everytime i read it , i end up shedding some tears for it.
it is just so perfect and raw in its form.
so i just wanted to ask would we ever have a second part of 'unconditionally'?
i dont want to pressurise you , but it is just a small request to think about making the second part of unconditionally.
this fic is very close to my heart. So i would be grateful uf i ever know about the announcement of its second part.
Awww, I saw this yesterday but I got so emotional I couldn't and didn't know how to reply initially.
Thank you so much and I'm so glad that my writing can touch someone in such a positive way. It really means a lot to me.
As far as a part 2, I have no plans for it this time. People heal and rebuild differently and I think it's important to leave the ending open so that you can develop your own method of closure and determine your own future.
But the main thing I wanted to display is that it's important to ask for help when you need it, especially when someone is genuinely routing for you and wants to help. It's also highlights self forgiveness.
So that's why I'd like the future to be open for you to decide. I'd like to think reader is all of us in some way. Not just a mom or someone who's made mistakes but a human. We aren't perfect and life can be unpredictable so I'll leave the story in your hands. It's yours and whatever it is that you strive for, I hope that it's in your future.🖤💞

All you wanted to do was go to sleep after your fight with Hoseok but Y/L/N Jaeyoung was making it extremely difficult to.
You watched him wearily as he bounced on the mini trampoline Mingyu bought for him and Jaehee, wincing every time you heard the spring squeak. He had been jumping on it for the past fifteen minutes, showing no hints of exhaustion as he squealed loudly and clapped his hands.
"Jaeyoung-ah, are you not tired?" You called out, on the verge of tears when he shook his head.
"No, I want to play, eomma!" Jaeyoung stopped jumping and scrambled off of the trampoline, sprinting to the other side of the room where Soonyoung, Seungkwan, and Jeonghan got a mini slide for the twins.
When the Seventeen members visited your new apartment, they were eager to learn that your apartment had extremely high ceilings and an empty room that was not put to use. They begged to turn it into a playroom and even insisted on paying for the entire cost (not that you would let them create a playroom if the money came out of your own pockets). After much convincing, you reluctantly agreed and now you were facing the consequences as you watched Jaeyoung climb up the stairs on all fours.
Most nights, the twins went to bed immediately after taking a bath and reading a bedtime story but tonight was not one of those nights. While Jaehee was sound asleep, Jaeyoung was running around like he drank a can of energy drink right before bedtime. You supposed that you should be grateful that only one twin was awake but your younger child was testing your patience. It seemed like all of the playing he did with Seungcheol and Eunae did nothing to wear him out.
"Alright, mister, that's enough." You caught him as he came out of the slide, swinging him into your arms.
"No, eomma, I want to play!" Jaeyoung squirmed around in your arms frantically, trying to get back onto the floor,
"Nope, we're taking another bath. You're all sweaty from running around in the playroom and then it's time to sleep." You simply replied.
He pouted and remained silent, his mood souring as you placed him back on the ground to fill up the bathtub. He sat on the ground and began kicking his legs, whining about how he wanted to play but you ignored him, filling the bath with bubbles instead. It was rare that Jaeyoung had a temper tantrum as he was typically well-mannered but in the moments he did, you let him take out his anger alone before talking to him about his feelings so he would listen to you when you tried to communicate with him. The first time you tried to hold him during a meltdown in an attempt to comfort him, he somehow managed to kick you in the jaw so you quickly learned that he preferred crying alone before listening to you. You were not a perfect parent by any means and were still learning how to raise the twins but you learned over the years that Jaeyoung listened to you best when he wasn't emotional.
"Are you ready to talk, Jae-Jae?" You asked after the tub finished filling with water.
Jaeyoung nodded his head tearfully, sniffling as he sat on the toilet seat. You squatted down in front of him so you could be at the same level as him, wiping his tears away.
"Why are you sad, baby?" You questioned.
"Because I want to play." He mumbled, his eyes brimming with tears again as he remembered how much fun he was having in the playroom before you snatched him up like a ragdoll.
"You already played a lot today. You played at daycare with your friends, you played with Eunae imo at the park, and you played with Seungcheol samchon after that. It's time for you to go to sleep or else you'll be too tired to play tomorrow." You explained. "You can play again after you sleep. Eomma let you stay up for a long time after I read you and Jaehee a story so now it's time to sleep."
"But I don't want to sleep." Jaeyoung pouted.
"Let's try to sleep at least one time, okay? You didn't even close your eyes when you were in bed, bubba."
The two of you agreed after you promised him that he could stay up longer if he really couldn't go to sleep and didn't feel tired in the slightest bit. He happily got in the bath and played with the bubbles for five minutes, before dozing off while you gently washed his hair and body. By the time you finished drying him off and dressed him back in his pajamas, he was half-asleep. You happily tucked him back into bed, feeling victorious.
"Finally, he fell asleep. I thought we would be pulling an all-nighter."
You collapsed onto the couch and lay sprawled out across it, staring at the ceiling in silence. Eunae, Seungcheol, and Joshua stared at you in amusement before snickering at your misfortune. You shot them a nasty look, irritated that they were disturbing your night but they invited themselves over after learning that Hoseok visited you a few hours prior. Eunae let herself in via the spare key you gave her and seemed to have allowed Joshua and Seungcheol in as well. You eyed the snacks and wine bottle that had been opened while you were wrangling Jaeyoung to bed; they were clearly having the time of their life while you were begging your three-year-old to sleep.
“You should’ve invited him to hang out with us.” Seungcheol grinned.
“And you should shut up.” You grouched, thanking Eunae for the glass of wine she poured for you. "As much as I love spending time with Jaeyoung, I need a break after that whole fiasco with Hoseok earlier today."
You weren't one to chug wine (or anything alcohol for that matter) nor was it the proper way to drink the expensive delicacy Mingyu gifted you a few weeks prior but you were in desperate need of a drink. Joshua winced as you drank the glass in one go, reaching out to grab it from you to refill it.
"Slow down, mama, we have all night." He scolded.
You smiled wryly at him before slumping further down against the couch, sighing deeply. "I hate Jung Hoseok. I wanted to kiss his pretty face when I saw him."
"You what?" Eunae screeched.
Seungcheol slapped his hand over her mouth. "Quiet, woman. There are children upstairs." He hissed.
She glared at him and reached up to yank his hand off of her mouth. She redirected her stare toward you, silently demanding you to explain. Quite frankly, you didn't know why she was surprised by your remark when you told her a few times you still loved Hoseok.
"He aged like fine wine." You simply shrugged. You then snickered to yourself at the realization that you were quite literally drinking said alcohol. "No pun intended."
Joshua shook his head. "You are pathetic sometimes, Y/L/N Y/N."
"Hey now, that's unnecessary." You swatted at his arm. "Just because I think he's still hot doesn't mean that I want to get back with him. I'm still mad at him; my conversation today only solidified it."
"What happened? How did he even know where you worked?" Seungcheol furrowed his eyebrows, realizing how strange it was that Hoseok quickly found you after you ran into the other BTS members at HYBE.
"Didn't Mingyu, Myungho, or Seokmin tell you? Hoseok has been looking for me ever since that day. He must've hired people or asked his management team to find information on me which is why he was able to find my cafe so easily."
Eunae scoffed in disgust. "What a creep. He has a lot of audacity to look up personal information about an ex-girlfriend."
"He also has a lot of audacity to say he would take me to court over Jaehee and Jaeyoung."
"What?"
So you dived into the story for your friends' sake, recalling every detail from the conversation. Just retelling the story had you heated and by the time you finished, you were red in the face, out of breath, and had a death grip on your wine glass which Joshua promptly snatched away.
"I am going to kill him, Y/N. Ooh, that man is not going to see the pearly gates of heaven once I get my hands on him." Eunae threatened.
"I'll hold him down, you punch him?" Seungcheol offered.
Joshua shook his head, disgusted and angered by the story. "I can't believe he threatened to take you to court when he was the one who accused you of cheating and broke up with you. Does he really think the judge is going to let him see the twins?"
You shrugged, "I guess so. I applaud him for being that confident. It takes a lot of stupidity to threaten court when he's the one who has been a deadbeat dad for the past three years."
Seungcheol grimaced, "Being called a deadbeat dad? That's tough. True but still tough."
"What did you tell him?" Eunae asked.
"That we can go to court if he wants to." You replied. "All of the inheritance money from my grandparents and parents can pay for ten years worth of lawyers if need be."
Eunae clapped her hands, nodding her head in approval. "You are so sexy for that. I could kiss you right now." She beamed.
"Excuse me?" Seungcheol gasped.
He was ignored as his girlfriend asked you more questions about what happened with Hoseok. You felt emotionally drained by the time she ran out of questions to pester you with, feeling like you relived the entirety of it for the second time.
"You should reach out to a film production company so they could turn your life into a movie," Joshua suggested. "You could be rich, Y/Nie. Even richer than your grandparents ever were."
You snorted at his remark, lazily swatting at him. "Don't be ridiculous." You then pondered on his suggestion. "How much money do you think I could make if I told them it was a true story and that Hoseok is the antagonist?"
The four of you laughed before silence fell. Nobody knew what else to say as they realized the true magnitude of the situation. If Hoseok was to follow through with his words, then there was no doubt that many issues were going to arise within the following weeks. Even if you could pay for countless lawyers, you didn't have the mental and emotional strength to fight in court for who knows how long. You also didn't want to put the twins in such an environment because they were so young.
"What are you going to do if Hoseok actually takes you to court?" Seungcheol asked quietly.
"I guess I'm fighting back until I get full custody and he gets no visitation rights."
Tumblr media
"You WHAT?" Jimin screeched.
Hoseok winced, shamefully looking down at his feet while the other members glared at him fiercely. He was embarrassed and ashamed of his words after thinking back on what he said when he met you yesterday. He didn't know what he was thinking at the moment—in fact, he wasn't thinking. He had no idea why he threatened to take you to court and was shocked it even crossed his mind in the first place. He would never try to take the twins away from you and never considered it until you flat-out refused to let him see them. Hoseok didn't expect you to say yes right away and was prepared to ease his way back into your life but hadn't considered that you wouldn't allow him anywhere near them. He prided himself in being able to control his anger but the past few weeks had been overwhelming after realizing that he had been in the wrong for the past three years and you were telling the truth all along. His anger took the best of him and before he could stop himself, he threatened to take you to court even though he had no intention to.
"Please tell me you're kidding." Namjoon pleaded, pinching the bridge of his nose when Hoseok shook his head.
"Why would you say that? In what world do you have the right to say that?" Jimin demanded.
"I don't know, it just slipped out in the heat of the moment." Hoseok weakly explained.
Jungkook whistled lowly before shaking his head. "There's no way you're getting out of this one, hyung. It's one thing to accuse her of cheating but it's another to tell her that you're gonna take her to court over the kids you abandoned. Even your lawyers aren't gonna side with you on this one."
"I know that." Hoseok snapped. "Do you think I meant it? I said it without thinking."
"Do you ever think?" Yoongi retorted.
Hoseok's head snapped in his direction, hurt evident on his face. "What?" He questioned. He glanced around the room, finally noticing how the members were all looking down at him with the same expression of disappointment and anger. He gulped and forced back the tears that stung his eyes, realizing he dug himself even further into his grave.
"Do you ever think?" Yoongi repeated. "You didn't think four years ago when you broke up with Y/N, you didn't think when you accused her of cheating, you didn't think when you left her alone to raise your child on her own, and now you didn't think after seeing her for the first time in person since the breakup. You keep using the excuse that you didn't think and that your emotions got the best of you but those excuses stopped being valid three years ago, Hoseok. How long are you going to stop taking responsibility for your actions?"
"Now, I'll stop now," Hoseok replied, harshly wiping away the tear that rolled down his face. "I just found out that Y/N was telling the truth and that we have two kids. I need some time to process all of this."
"And spending days tracking her down to confront her at her cafe was the way to go?" Taehyung asked.
Hoseok fell silent. They all stared down at him, waiting for him to respond. The intensity of their stares made him squirm in his seat, uncomfortable with the tense environment. "Look, I know that I approached all of this the wrong way and that I have years of groveling to make up for everything I did to Y/N but can you cut me some slack? I don't understand why you guys are tag-teaming me all of a sudden."
"If we're not being harsh on you, then who will?" Namjoon questioned. "We're not saying all of this to make you feel bad. You've put Y/N through so much and it's about time you own up to what you did. Even if it means you have to hear nagging from us."
"You guys know that all of you need to apologize to her too, right? I'm not the only one who abandoned her." Hoseok pointed out.
Jimin nodded his head. "We know, hyung. But it starts with you before it starts with us."
"I know."
"We're not on your side anymore, hyung."
"I know."
"Do you? Because you've been acting awfully immature since the parking garage incident." Yoongi crossed his arms over his chest.
"God, why are you being such an asshole about this? I know I messed up, hyung and I know it was wrong of me to threaten to take Y/N to court but it was in the heat of the moment. I would never try to take the twins away from her when she was the one who raised them alone for three years because I was the one who abandoned her. I don't need you to give me a hard time when Jin hyung already is." Hoseok's voice grew louder as he glowered at Yoongi, feeling the same anger from when he fought with Seokjin bubble inside of him again
"Because I've been holding my anger against you ever since you broke up with Y/N and the one time you get the chance to fix things with her, you screw up again. I watched you fuck over my best friend with baseless accusations and let her become a scapegoat but I'll be damned if you hurt her again. My biggest regret is not standing up for her because her life would've been a hell of a lot easier if she had at least one person supporting her."
Hoseok and Yoongi stared at each other, the tension thickening tenfold. The rest of the members glanced in between them, suddenly feeling awkward and uncomfortable as they stared each other down. Though none of them said it aloud when Seokjin shared how he felt about the breakup a few days ago, they all agreed with what he said. His words rang in their ears with them afterward and the longer that they thought about what he said, the more they realized he was right.
“Fix this, Hoseok. Nobody is on your side anymore and if that doesn't tell you you're in the wrong, then I don't know what will."
Tumblr media
The bartender stared at Hoseok wearily as he downed another shot. He lost count of how many shots he gave the man but now he was worried that he was going to get alcohol poisoning. The last thing he needed was for his face to be plastered all over the media for killing the dance leader of BTS.
"Two more shots please." Hoseok slurred.
"I'm cutting you off for the night, Hoseok-ssi."
Minjun swiped the shot glasses away from him and grabbed the credit card Hoseok had taken out at the beginning of the night, charging him for all of the shots he had drunk within the past two hours. He felt bad for Hoseok, who had been staring at the table like a wounded puppy while progressively getting drunker. He came into the bar alone and immediately asked for two shots of the strongest alcohol they offered, which Minjun was reluctant to give until Hoseok offered to pay double for them. It was clear he was going through relationship issues because he started mumbling about someone named 'Y/N' under his breath half an hour ago.
"No, I need to forget about Y/N." Hoseok protested, holding his hands out in front of him. "Give me more shots."
"I don't want you to die from alcohol poisoning," Minjun replied, wiping down the counters. "I would be sentenced to life in prison if I killed a member of BTS. Is there somebody who can come pick you up?"
Hoseok mumbled a name but it came out muffled as his head was buried underneath his arms. He was asked to repeat it, eagerly sitting upright as he repeated your name over and over again.
"Y/N, I want Y/N to pick me up!" Hoseok exclaimed. "Can you call her?"
"I don't know her number, sir," Minjun replied. He furrowed his eyebrows, confused by the sudden change in opinion about this so-called Y/N. Wasn’t he just complaining about how he wanted to forget about you?
"Call Y/N!"
"I can't call her number if I don't know her number. Is there another BTS member who can pick you up?"
Hoseok violently shook his head, almost falling off of his chair from the force. He wanted you to pick him up and he’ll be damned if anybody else came to take him home. He would camp out in the bar for the rest of the night if need be. “Y/N, I want my Y/N,” He moaned, dropping his head into the counter.
Minjun cringed before suggesting, “How about you call her? Have you thought about doing that?”
“Y/N hates me,” Hoseok whined.
“Then why do you want her to pick you up?”
“Because I love her.”
His bottom lip quivered as tears welled up in his eyes at the thought of your hatred for him. He sniffed, slouching over in his seat as he recalled the way you looked at him yesterday. “I don’t want her to hate me.”
Minjun sighed deeply. He was not being paid enough to deal with customers like Hoseok. He was certainly going to demand a raise after his shift was over. “How about I call her for you? Just tell me her phone number and I’ll talk to her.”
Hoseok perked up again, nodding his head furiously. "Yes, please talk to her! I still remember her number." He recited your number confidently, which was one of the few numbers he knew by heart. He just hoped you didn't change your number after the breakup.
"Hello?"
Minjun blinked, shocked that you had actually replied. He was convinced that Hoseok was just talking out of his ass but you were a real person. "Hi, Y/N-ssi, I'm Minjun, a bartender at Whiskey Lounge. I'm here with Jung Hoseok-ssi, who gave me your number. He's been drinking for the past two hours and is drunk right now. He insists on you picking him up and refuses to go home with one of his band members. Would you be able to pick him up?"
You pulled your phone away from your ear, making sure that it was a real phone call. You stared at the call for a moment before clearing your throat. "Hi, Minjun-ssi, thank you for cutting him off from drinking too much. I won't be able to pick him up but I can contact one of the Bangtan members to come get him and I'll call you back when one of them is on the way. I'm sorry if he was causing a disruption and thank you for reaching out to me."
"Of course, it's no problem at all. I'll be watching over him for the time being."
"Thank you. Have a good night, Minjun-ssi."
"You as well."
You sighed deeply once you heard the line disconnect, groaning loudly before you called up Mingyu to explain the situation to him. This was the consequence of not changing your number after the breakup, you supposed. Mingyu was more than happy to contact Jungkook about what was going on and assured you that he and Jungkook would handle it from here on out. You thanked him profusely and apologized for bothering him at such a late hour, but the younger man found the situation too amusing to be irritated.
"Looks like he's still obsessed with you." He teased.
"Oh shut it."
Tumblr media
"Hoseok hyung?"
The older man was slumped over the bar, his face buried in between his arms as he tried falling asleep. Upon hearing his name, he lazily lifted his head before grinning when he saw who was staring back at him. "Jungkookie, it's nice to see you."
Jungkook shook his head disappointedly with a sigh. "You're such an embarrassment sometimes, hyung. Come on, let's go home." He tried to wrap his arm around Hoseok's waist and help him off of the stool but received a swat in the chest instead.
"Go away, I don't want you. I want Y/N." Hoseok whined.
"Well, Y/N is a working woman with a full-time job and two kids. She's too busy to be picking you up when you're drunk." The maknae snapped, forcefully dragging him away from the bar.
Hoseok’s eyes welled up again, causing Minjun to sigh and leave the scene. “She hates me. Y/N hates me.”
“Yeah, and for a good reason too.”
Jungkook dragged Hoseok out of the bar, cursing him out for being so stubborn and refusing to cooperate. It took him a few minutes, but he was able to force him into the car, buckled in his seatbelt, and slammed the door shut. Jungkook settled in the driver’s seat, quickly stepping on the gas before Hoseok could try to get out. Quite frankly, he had been tired of his hyung lately, and having to pick him up at two in the morning because he was drunk was pushing him over the edge. He ignored Hoseok's mumbles, opting to listen to music rather than entertain his drunk friend.
“Jungkookie,” Hoseok mumbled as the two of them trudged over to the elevators.
“What, hyung?” Jungkook replied, already fed up with the conversation.
“Are you mad at me?”
The youngest sighed before shaking his head. “No hyung, not mad. Just disappointed.” He truthfully answered.
Even in his drunken state, Hoseok felt ashamed of what he said to you at your cafe. He curled into himself as he leaned against the elevator walls, wishing they would swallow him whole. Jungkook noticed his sudden distress and sighed before rubbing his back comfortingly.
"It's okay, hyung. You made big mistakes but can fix them if you give yourself the time. I don't think Y/N noona is entirely opposed to having you back in her life."
Hoseok perked up at his comment. "You think so?" He hopefully asked.
Jungkook chuckled, "Yes, I think so. She may be angry now but she loves you so much."
The dance leader visibly brightened, allowing Jungkook to haul him over to the dorm. "She still loves me." He beamed. "I should call her."
Jungkook's eyes widened as the door accidentally swung open, slamming against the wall. "You should what?" He questioned, yanking Hoseok inside before shutting the door again.
"I should call her and tell her I still love her too." Hoseok fumbled with his phone but it was quickly snatched away from him. "Hey!"
"You are not going to call her, hyung. Not at three in the morning when she's still mad at you."
"But you said she loves me!" Hoseok whined.
Jungkook sighed deeply, pinching the bridge of his nose. He didn't realize that his words would hold so much weight to Hoseok but should've known better than to tell a drunk man that his ex-lover still loved him. "That doesn't mean you should call her right now. What are you gonna do, profess your undying love for her?"
"Yes." Hoseok stumbled a few feet as he tried to take off his shoes. "Y/N needs to know that I still love her and never stopped. I want to tell her that she's the only person who's been on my mind since we broke up and that I haven't looked at another woman since. She is the only one for me." He dropped to the ground, lying face down on the cold floor whilst continuing to mumble about his love for you.
Jungkook stared at his hyung, unable to believe what he was witnessing. He sighed again before lifting Hoseok off of the ground and taking him to his bedroom. He changed Hoseok out of his clothes and left him in his boxers, tucking him into his bed as if he were a child (spoiler: he's not). The older man easily complied, continuing to mumble about you and his everlasting love for you under his breath. Jungkook left a glass of water with ibuprofen on the nightstand and plugged Hoseok's phone into the charger before leaving him to sleep for the night. He sluggishly retreated to his room, where Taehyung and Jimin were waiting for him.
"How was picking up Hobi hyung?" Taehyung asked, amused by the way Jungkook flopped onto his bed face first.
"Awful." He grumbled. "The poor bartender looked exhausted and Hobi hyung would not shut up about Y/N noona. Did you know that he's still in love with her?"
Jimin sat up at the speed of light, looking alarmed. "He's what?"
Jungkook nodded solemnly. "I think there are a lot of things Hobi hyung hasn’t told us.”
Tumblr media
"Bye-bye!"
Jaeyoung and Jaehee waved to you excitedly before Eunae shut the door behind her. She came over to your apartment bright and early to take the twins to daycare since her shift started a little later during the day. You were extremely grateful that your best friend jumped at every opportunity to help you with the twins and she adored spending every second with them when she had the chance. There would be times when you would go a few days without seeing her because she had back-to-back shifts that lasted at least twelve hours but nowadays, her schedule was rather lax.
Thanks to her, you could spend a quiet morning by yourself before you had to head to the cafe to do an inventory check. The cafe had been busier than usual thanks to the Seventeen members you found yourself having to restock on many items more often than in the past. Your cafe turned into a tourist spot for CARATs who were visiting from abroad. You were grateful for the business they gave you but hadn't expected your business to start growing rapidly. You didn’t know when was the last time you could settle down with a proper breakfast (one that didn't consist of eating leftover toddler scraps) so you were eager to make yourself an actual meal.
While you waited for the water to boil to make soup, you checked the missed call that you noticed earlier in the day. The number wasn't in your contacts but it was vaguely familiar to you. You couldn't quite put your finger on whose number it was but the person left you a voicemail at two in the morning.
“Y/N, it’s Hoseok.”
Your breath hitched as you pulled your phone away from your ear, staring at the number displayed across your screen as a sense of deja vu washed over you. When Hoseok became extremely busy once BTS began to take off, he often left voicemails for you because of differing time zones and work schedules. He greeted you the same way every time he left a message and though the greeting lacked the pet name he used you to call, it tugged your heartstrings all the same.
To say you were shocked that he still remembered your number would be an understatement, especially since he was drunk last night. Curious about what Hoseok had to say, you placed your phone back against your ear and took a seat at the dining table.
"I called you to tell you that I'm an idiot. I was stupid for saying that I would take you to court for the twins when I have no right to even see their faces once in my life. I don't want to take them away from you and would never try to. I'm sorry for everything Y/N. I treated you awfully when I broke up with you and there is nothing in the world I can do to make up for it. I'm so sorry, Y/Nie. I know I don't deserve any ounce of forgiveness but I wanted you to know I'm sorry and I love you. Please forgive me, I-"
Right before he could continue his ramble, he heard a door slam open. "Hoseok hyung, I told you to go to sleep. Who are you talking to right now?"
You heard Hoseok arguing with Jungkook before the line went dead, promptly ending the phone call and Hoseok's pathetic apology. You played the voicemail again, listening to your ex-boyfriend apologize through drunken slurs with bated breath. You played it again and again in hopes that the apology would placate the anxiety you felt ever since you saw Jungkook and fill the hole Hoseok left after breaking up with you but it didn’t help. The apology you waited to hear finally came yet it was falling on deaf ears.
It was wrong of you to take a drunken voicemail as a genuine apology from Hoseok but you were so desperate to hear the words “I’m sorry” fall out of his mouth. He wasn’t worth your time nor deserved your forgiveness however after waiting four years for an apology, you could feel the defenses you built up against Hoseok slowly weakening. Even if you weren't going to accept his apology from the voicemail, you knew you were eventually going to crack. You were still weak when it came to him and you always would be.
After all, you're only human.
Tumblr media
"Holy shit."
Hoseok let out a groan as he opened his eyes, immediately feeling his head pounding from the sunlight that was streaming through his window. He yanked the covers over his head, hoping it would ease his headache but to no avail. He mentally cursed himself for drinking last night, irritated that he got carried away and got blackout drunk. Drinking to the point of having no memories of the night before was something he hadn't done in years.
He reached out for the painkillers that were on the nightstand, immediately taking two of them before washing them down with water. Hoseok stared at the floor, reflecting on his actions as if he were a child who got put on timeout. Faint memories of the night before flashed in his mind and he winced from the embarrassment of his behavior.
Hoseok eventually reached for his phone, figuring that there was no point in dwelling on something that already happened. He caught up on the plethora of messages that filled up his phone, ignoring most of them. He only replied to Jimin and Taehyung, who were worried that he was suffering from an awful hangover that would require him to be hospitalized. Their messages did get a chuckle out of him which immediately made his headache worse.
"Knock, knock."
The door opened and Jungkook came walking in with a tray of food in his hands. The smell of hangover soup wafted through the air and into Hoseok's nose, causing him to gag. He wasn't the type of person to seek food upon waking up after a night of drinking and with the nausea that still overtook him, Hoseok was prepared to run to the bathroom and vomit. He scrunched his nose at the smell of the spicy soup. Nothing about the steaming bowls of rice and soup was appealing to him.
"You have to eat, hyung." Jungkook urged, setting the tray down on the nightstand.
"I'm going to throw up all over you if you don't get that thing away from me in the next 30 seconds."
Hoseok didn't know why Jungkook was laughing when there was nothing funny about the fact he was suffering from a raging hangover. The maknae ignored him, grabbing the small table he brought for Hoseok and setting it up on the bed.
"Once you're done eating, make sure you text Y/N noona an apology for last night," Jungkook mentioned.
"Why? I didn't even talk to her last night." Hoseok snorted.
"For the drunk voicemail you sent her."
"The what?"
While Jungkook happily recalled what happened the night before, Hoseok was frantically searching through his call log to see if he truly did call you. Much to his horror, your number sat at the top of the most recent call log. "Why did you let me call her?"
"You did that all by yourself after I tucked you into bed like the child you are. I came back in because you were talking to yourself come to find out that you were confessing your love to Y/N noona and blubbering about how sorry you were." Jungkook snapped, slamming down the bowls on the table. "Don't get snippy with me when you're the one who called her."
Hoseok stared at your number miserably as he thought of dozens of different ways to apologize to you for everything that had transpired within the past week. Surely by now, he would have to provide financial compensation simply for existing in your life.

Hey Y/N, it's Seokjin. I got your number from Jungkook who got it from Mingyu. I know that's an invasion of privacy and I’m sorry we went behind your back to do that despite the fact that you want no contact with any of us but I wanted to reach out and talk about what happened with Hoseok. You probably don't wanna talk to me and it's far too late for me to be reaching out now but I really do want to talk. If you're able to meet up with me, please let me know. I would love to see you again.

Glitter Glue and Butterfly Stickers 🦋✨
general audiences / dreamling / domestic fluff / retired dream / 1052 words
a gift to my beloved @littledreamling. as I’ve told you before, you are the hope to my sadness. thank you for never losing sight of me when I feel lost. inspired by this post. read here or on ao3
Sometimes, it was impossible for Hob not to marvel at how lucky he truly was. He and Dream had been married for about 10 years, after Dream had decided to step down from his role as lord of the Dreaming for good. Retirement suited his husband quite well too. Dream was making quite the name for himself as a painter and sculptor, and took great joy in taking part of the small tasks of their everyday life. They’d moved to a nice house away from the city, big enough for a nice office for Hob and a large studio for Dream, along with a library they both shared. The move had been great for other reasons too: Dream tended to get overwhelmed in the city, and the both of them could enjoy a lot more privacy too.
When they decided to adopt a child, a bigger house had also been ideal.
Hob had been sitting on his desk for what felt like an eternity, but had in fact been about 8 hours. He was hunched over his computer, eyes already stinging from the strain of looking at the screen for so long. He’d written quite a lot that day, and read even more from the pile of printed out articles, papers and books, research material for his new thesis that he much preferred reading the physical copies of. His main source of comfort while he worked was a single mug of warm tea that filled itself back up every time he reached for it, courtesy of his above god-kind of a husband. Hob reached for the mug, taking a sip of tea that could only be described as “childhood memory” flavored, let out a soft sigh and leaned back on his chair, allowing his mind to wander for a moment.
A soft knock on the door brought him right back to reality.
“Dearest, may I come in?” Dream’s voice was soft, almost like he was afraid he might interrupt Hob while he worked. Hob found it endearing, how much Dream respected and honoured his work hours.
Hob got up, stretching his arms and back quickly, before walking over to the door to open it, smiling as he was greeted by the face of the person he loved most in the entire universe. “You know you don’t have to knock, love. It’s never a bad time for you.”
Dream allowed a private and gentle smile, eyes filled with a fondness that Hob was perpetually greedy for. “I prefer to not interrupt your writing process. I have learned that an interrupted flow of ideas is preferred by scholars and artists alike.”
“And I am thankful for it dove, I really am.” Hob leaned in to press a chaste kiss to Dream’s lips, letting his hands rest on his husband’s hips. “But as you well know, I can always use a visit or 10 from you while I work.”
“You would not get any work done if I indulged you.” Dream’s tone was humorous, as if his smile was evident even in his voice.
“But I’d get to do you, and that would be even more rewarding.” said Hob, winking at the end to get his point across. It earned him a soft flush on Dream’s cheeks, so even if he wasn’t particularly satisfied with what he’d done so far, his day had already been won.
“You are impossible, Hob Gadling.”
“So are you, Morpheus Gadling.” 10 years into their marriage and Hob still felt the need to say Dream’s name out loud to believe it had even happened. “But I have a feeling you didn’t come here just to praise me.”
“You would be correct.” Dream reached into the back pocket of his jeans, producing a bubblegum pink envelope filled with glittery butterfly stickers. “Lucy requested I deliver this to you. She said it was of the utmost importance that you read it before dinner.”
Hob took the small envelope from Dream’s hand, his smile growing larger by the second as he read his name written in the handwriting of his 7 year old daughter. “From Princess Lucy to Doctor Gadling” he read out loud, looking at Dream as if his heart would not be able to make it through reading the contents of the letter.
“Ah, yes. Princess Lucy of the Dream Kingdom. I find it very appropriate, don’t you?” Hob had never seen anything like the look of pride that currently resided in Dream’s eyes.
“Of course, I should have known.” Hob let out a soft chuckle, carefully opening the envelope as not to damage any of the many stickers Lucy had used to glue it shut. He then unfolded the letter, written in flower themed stationary with an array of different coloured pencils.
“Dear Doctor Gadling (Dad),
Dad Morpheus read me an article you wrote. I was amazed by it! ^u^ It surprised me that took you 4 months to write it! :O I’m sure it took a lot of work. I found out a lot of things about medieval times! I also liked learning about the things you teach. A lot of things made me say “awesome”! :D I want to read what you write next!
A+!
Princess Lucy of The Dream Kingdom (your daughter)”
Hob tried to read it aloud, but his voice got shaky midway through, and he was glad when Dream pulled him into his embrace and finished reading it for him. “Dream, I—“
“I know.” Dream pressed a soft kiss to Hob’s temple, wiping his tears away gently with his thumbs. “She is very proud of you, Hob. As am I. It was her idea to write the letter; she wanted to give you encouragement in writing your thesis.”
“I don’t think I’ll be doing any more writing today after this.” Hob’s eyes were filled with tears, but he couldn’t be happier. How he’d landed this life was beyond him.
“Thus my hesitance in interrupting you.” Dream pressed a kiss to Hob’s lips, then brushing a strand of hair that had escaped Hob’s bun away from his eyes. “I shall get dinner ready. Perhaps you could play with Lucy while I cook. I have heard she’s in need of a knight.”
“Ah, of course. Can’t keep the princess of the Dream Kingdom waiting now, can I?”

10 years later...
Warnings: cursing, kids?
___________________
The sun was hot as you walked from your car into the bakery; today was the twins' birthday and you were going in to fetch their cake.
As you walked across the warm asphalt you offered your hand behind you, in no time a smaller hand grabbed yours and you smiled.
Your daughter returned the expression, “Hi, Mommy!”.
“Hi baby” you smiled back.
Five years ago, your and Anakin’s first daughter together was born, Rey; she was an unexpected surprise that came right as you finished med school.
You had her in the winter before you started your residency at the city’s biggest hospital.
The twins were 12 when Rey was born and were beyond excited for the new addition. They spent most of their free time playing with her and Leia would even teach her new concepts she learned in school (not that Rey remembered any of that).
Your daughter looked alot like you, but she definitely had some signature skywalker traits; her thick luscious hair, her high cheekbones, and her beautiful eyes.
You absolutely adored her.
When you told Anakin the news all those years ago, he could hardly believe his ears; he didn’t think that he would have the opportunity to be a new father again, but he was ecstatic.
Throughout the pregnancy he would kiss your belly and run over your bump with his own arms, rather than the stiff prosthetics; he told you it was because he didn’t want to disturb the baby with the more harsh motions he made with them on.
Around that time he was just returning to work again and came home exhausted from all of the walking and meticulous tasks, yet he would still make sure you were as comfortable as you could be before he would relax for the night.
He was so thoughtful.
As for Anakin himself, he had his good days and his bad days, but as the years passed his good days began to outweigh the bad ones. His body had gotten accustomed to his prosthetics and he was able to go a whole day with them on without too much discomfort.
He got himself back to a healthy weight and even started working out again; his routine was much different than what it used to be, but with the help of some specially designed prosthetics he was able to go to the gym with little to no trouble.
Nowadays his biceps and triceps were particularly defined- some of the new devices allowed him to hold weights and even hold his weight on the pull-up bar. He also got some running blades and tried to make it to the track at least once a week.
He still had bouts of phantom pains, but those only really came after long periods of wearing his limbs or when he would get stressed.
His lungs also got significantly better over time with multiple treatments in the earlier years; now they only gave him trouble in winter when the air got thin and crisp.
__________
“Mommy, which cake are we getting for Lukey and Sissy?” Rey asked as she surveyed the assortments of colored cakes in the glass display case.
“The baker made their’s specially, so we just have to pick it up” you smiled as you waited for a worker to assist you.
Today was Luke and Leia’s 18th birthday and were planning a big party. When the twins got into highschool they both made a plethora of friends, so since it was their birthday and so close to school being back in session they decided to have an end of summer and birthday party.
It took a while to get the date sorted out because you and Anakin had your 10th anniversary vacation planned for around this time since last year.
You decided that you would celebrate the twin’s birthday with the family and close friends then they could have their party later in the week when you and Anakin were gone.
Maybe it seemed irresponsible to leave two newly 18 year olds to an empty house as you went across the country for a weekend, but you and Anakin trusted the kids, they were responsible and with Leia around, nothing would get too crazy. She grew up to be just as mature as you always figured she would.
Finally an attendant came up to help you and gave you the cake box in no time.
“Alright baby, let's go home” you said to your daughter who trailed behind you with an sweet smile on her face.
__________
Across town, Anakin sat in his office going through documents on his large touch screen computer.
It was a really good thing for him to be able to go back. The office celebrated his return with a nice cocktail party downtown (very fitting for the prestige of his company).
Even though you had been with him for a decade, you still weren't quite sure what his business did, you just knew it was very successful (obviously with the income he made).
He and Ben tried to educate you countless times, but you were never a big economics or business girly.
“I think I’ll just stick to my medical knowledge and leave the economy to you guys” you jokingly told him and Ben.
Anakin’s return was pretty seamless, he never lost the momentum he once had at work. He hated pity and sympathy more than anything so he made sure to let his work speak for his capabilities. And after only a month and a half back he brought the company's stock up 17%; safe to say no one was questioning his capabilities after that.
Today was no different, he was on a grind to get extra work done so that he wouldn’t be behind after coming back from the vacation.
His office was pretty tricked out with innovative tech to help him do things easier. First off, everything was digitized since he didn’t have the dexterity to sift through stacks of papers. Everything was touchscreen for his convenience as well (he wore one of those touchscreen gloves at work).
The doorway to his suite was expanded so he could go in and out easier on days that he needed his wheelchair.
He also had a bigger office so that he could bring R2; he even had a little treat jar for him.
Anakin leaned back in his chair and stretched.
“Almost done Artoo, then we’ll go back home, alright?” he promised, petting the dog beside him.
After another 30 minutes Anakin was finally finished; he gathered up some of his stuff and put on his work backpack and suit coat. He grabbed R2’s  leash and hooked it on to his “service dog” vest before heading for the door.
_________________
“Leia, who are you all inviting to the party?” Luke asked from the kitchen.
“I don’t know? Probably some of my friends from model UN and maybe a few from debate club” she shouted back from the couch.
She turned to the guy she was leaning on, “you’re definitely coming to the party”.
He made a face, “no, actually I’m not coming and I never wanna see you again”.
“That's fine” she said nonchalantly and turned the other way.
“Let's see how you function without me,” she smiled to herself.
“You’re right, what would I do without you? How would I take care of Chewie on my own? The horror… the Horror!” he cried dramatically.
She giggled and cuddled further into him, “You’re so stupid, Han”.
“Right back atcha sweetheart” he winked before kissing her gently.
Han Solo was Leia’s long term boyfriend; they started talking in middle school but Anakin didn’t want her to date until sophomore year of high school and even then he didn’t want her to date, but you convinced him to loosen up (Leia was insanely grateful).
The two of them met after they were assigned to a project in physics class; Leia hated physics and just wanted to be in her gov and econ class that was next period, but she was stuck here with a sarcastic lab partner.
She was annoyed, thinking she would have to do all of the work for their labs but he surprised her; one lab required a long list of calculations so they split them down the middle and Han finished all three of his before Leia had even gotten to the second one.
“You’re not the only one with brains here,” he said.
“B-but-”
“I know I look as dumb as a bag of rocks, but I sure know my numbers”.
From then on, she was hooked.
Han had an outward impression of a kind of trouble maker, but he was one of the most genuine kids out there. He was very polite the first time everyone met him and even helped Leia choose a birthday gift for you. He was about a year and a half older than the twins, but had taken a gap year to work.
Leia was really really into him; she would come ask for advice on how to keep the relationship healthy and how to be a great girlfriend. It was cute.
Han also had an absolutely massive dog named Chewie who was a big sweetheart; he had long brown fur and was always smiling with his tongue out.
Often Han would bring Chewie over to the house because he got along really well with Artoo; they spent many afternoons playing in the backyard while everyone else did their own things.
As for your kids (when the twins were twelve, you legally adopted them), they turned out to be wonderful people with amazing goals; you and Anakin were beyond proud of them.
Leia was academically focused and even solidified the spot as the class valedictorian. She joined the debate club and model UN- a natural leader and you and Anakin were beyond proud of the young woman she turned out to be (afterall, you had been raising her for most of her life at this point).
You and her bonded over your shared love for learning and not long after you and Anakin were wed, she started calling you “mom”.
Unlike her brother, Leia was content spending the weekend at the house just reading books and watching random dramas (not to say she didn’t like a good party); she just didn’t need the typical teenage activities to have fun.
Luke on the other hand was more entertained by his friends and enjoyed doing typically teenage things. Most weekends he would hang out with his buddies at whoever was hosting’s house; mainly they played video games, watched tv, or just did other random shenanigans.
He got really into mechanics and welding early on in highschool, so you had him enrolled in a certification program. He now worked at a car shop after school and absolutely loved it. He even had a little crush on one of his co-workers who attended a college nearby (that would have to wait until a bit later).
On occasion you would smell the nostalgic smell of weed on his jacket as he breezed by to head up to his room; most of the time you would shake your head with a smile, remembering those days.
But of course you gave him the typical “be smart and safe” talk, but he needed to learn his limits himself, when did telling kids they weren't allowed to smoke ever stop them…?
Exactly.
The age gap between you and the twins never really crossed your mind when they were younger, but since they were growing up and puberty hit them and their friends you noticed some things. Luke’s friends would spend more time asking you how your day had been and their curious eyes lingered longer.
You really were only about 15 years older than then but apparently they thought you were a milf- you only enjoyed their juvenile attention when Anakin was around (you liked to see him get annoyed by their terrible flirting).
Often he would walk up and place his mechanical hands on your waist or grip your hip as he came up to “tell you something important”; usually it was just him whispering naughty things into your ear.
His jealousy was endearing- both of you knew these kids were just sorting out their hormones and that they didn’t stand a chance- but he still felt the primal need to show them that you were his.
_____________________________________
You pulled into the long driveway of your house and helped Rey out of her carseat before grabbing the cake box from the passenger seat.
Your daughter excitedly ran into the house to find her beloved siblings, which made you smile .
Soon enough, you saw Anakin’s car pulling in beside yours; you always loved when your schedules would align. You set the cake back down and went over to his door to greet him.
“Hey, darling. How was your day?” he asked with a tired smile as he opened his arms for a hug.
“It was pretty good, I’m ready for this vacation though” you smiled into his chest.
You felt the familiar stiffness of his mechanical hand cradling your waist, “yea, me too” he said, kissing the top of yoru head.
“Shall we?” he asked, motioning towards the house.
“We shall” you agreed, picking up the cake once more.
He turned off his car and Artoo hopped out of the passenger seat; the fluffy dog came over to greet you with a wagging tail and a smile.
“Hey buddy!” you smiled as he rubbed against your leg.
Once you set the cake down on the counter, your sleek cream colored cat came sauntering from your bedroom; happily you picked him up and kissed his head.
“Hello, 3PO” you exclaimed and he meowed back.
After Anakin had R2 for a couple months, you realized how much you wanted a pet of your own; you always really liked cats and thought that it would be better to have a cat than two dogs with all of the other responsibilities you already had at the house.
You continued the tradition of naming the pets after your liscence plates; 3PO was the last digits of the car you had when you first started working for Anakin.
3PO was a very loving kitten, he often curled up in your lap or on your chest at night. At first, Anakin wasn’t a big fan of him- he didn’t really like cats- but as the years went on 3PO grew on him (just like you did).
Now adays 3PO almost acted as an emotional support pet while R2 carried out the duties of a service animal.
Either way, you were just glad that he finally approved.
Anakin walked into the kitchen with a slight limp.
“Are you alright, Ani?” you asked, helping steady him at the counter.
“Yeah, my right leg is just giving me trouble today. I think I might have gone too hard at the gym” he said.
“Alright” you said, before tilting your head up for a kiss.
He brushed your hair out of your face and smiled, “Nothing to worry about, Angel”.
Afterwards he granted you the kiss you were waiting for; even after all of these years he still gave you butterflies.

Text
extract from chapter two:
“Hua Cheng?” Xie Lian asks, clearly surprised, but not cautious anymore.
“Ah, call me San Lang, please.” And where did that come from? “Hua Cheng is more of a business name.”
It’s not. Hua Cheng is mortified with himself.
“Alright, San Lang.” Xie Lian smiles at him. It does something to Hua Cheng.
“Need help?” He asks, only slightly strained.
“Oh!” Xie Lian looks at him through the white smoke, tired eyes and mussed hair, and Hua Cheng gets a sudden urge to paint him with watercolors.
“Daddy’s a car killer.” Ban Yue laughs. “He stabs them with a knife!”
“I do not!” Xie Lian throws a glare in Ban Yue’s direction and then directs his panicked gaze at Hua Cheng.
“I don’t know, gege.” Again, where did that come from? “She makes a good case.”

📓
I have a thing where between the second and third season Dani took Jamie back with him to Mexico for most of the summer break. Dani's family spoiled them rotten with delicious food, and he met all of Dani's siblings and cousins and aunts and uncles. More than five of the young ones, they all want to be strikers like Dani and they all want to play for Mexico like Dani and they all look up to Dani with stars in their eyes and they make Jamie and Dani run drills with them until dinner. Dani's mama doesn't speak a word of english, but the whole time he's there she keeps patting him on the cheek and smiling and fussing and Jamie can't understand a word she says but he's never felt so certain in his life that he was in someone's good graces.
Amigo de Dani. Tu amigo, Dani? Dani's friend. He was Dani's friend, and for that they threw doors open wide and embraced him with the same warmth that made Dani burn like the sun.
It was overwhelming. It was fucking brilliant.
And while they were there they had like. A real camping trip. Tents on the ground and twenty of Dani's closest relatives getting plastered on tequila. At night him and Dani curl up in a tent and pass a bottle of mezcal back and forth without any real intent, too busy cackling over stupid jokes.
With Dani's sleeping bag pressed against his shoulder and a low tent hanging over him, Jamie doesn't feel crowded. Laying on the ground doesn't feel like a hardship; it feels like a sleepover. With the weight of an open sky hovering just out of sight, he feels small and free. The world feels vast with potential. He feels excited about what's waiting for him back in Richmond. They've been promoted, the lads like him, Roy Kent hugged him for fuck's sake. This time last year he was miserable in Manchester and contemplating nuking his career. It feels surreal, how much better his life has gotten.
Yeah, next year's going to be better. He knows it.
