idea for an tgcf mdzs crossover au:
wei wuxian isn’t actually dead, he’s hiding in ghost city!
he accidentally finds out he can use his flute to make hua cheng do things because he is. in fact. also a ghost.
he doesn’t make hua cheng do anything too much at first, just joking around making him dance embarrassingly in public or flip off the wrong people.
and then in walks xie lian. hua cheng is insistent on being the self deprecating clueless lovely idiot we know him as.
wei wuxian decides to take it upon himself to be the #1 wingman ever and speed up the process by getting them together with the power of flute playing!
eventually hua cheng also convinces wei wuxian to return to the land of the living for lan wangji!
wei wuxian: bro he obviously is in love with you! full on flirt with him! stop being so cryptic!
hua cheng: mmhm ok whatever you say… and what about you and that one guy you knew? what was his name? lan-

Hua Cheng is not averse to touching Xie Lian, his problem with touching Xie Lian came from his belief that he did not deserve to be touched by Xie Lian, his god and his prince.
But that doesn't mean he doesn't want to touch or be touched, so much so that when he wants to, he touch a lot (😏). The cart scene where Hua Cheng moves away from Xie Lian's touch I believe was just for the shock/surprise, but he touched Xie Lian in the sedan chair scene at the bride's arch and every other time since.
As far as I remember, it was only this time in the cart scene that he removed the touch.

Idk why but I like princely/spoiled Xie Lian. I think it's because it shows how safe and loved he feels. That even at his brattiest Hua Cheng still loves and adores him. He doesn't make a habit of it even though he knows he could. It's him learning how to be a little selfish again to not put himself last. Hua Cheng loves it, takes pride that his god feels that safe with him. He like Xie Lian is also learning how to be selfish. Though it would take years for their old habitat to fade they are with each other every step of the way and that's one of the reasons why I love hualian so much.

yes Hua cheng has terrible handwriting but he’s a good artist, so what if when Yin Yu shows up and starts covering his cursed shackles, Hua Cheng offers to give him a tattoo to draw attention away from it that way (And YY has SEEN first hand what HC’s tattoo looks like and he’s NOT impressed. But they figure something out together that’s uniquely his.)
