Happy belated Femslash February to the Good Omens fandom!!
Do you love women, lesbians, sapphics, and other queerly related things? Then this month is for you.
The goal for this month is to create anything and everything that fits into the "femslash" category—what exactly that means is entirely up to you!
There's a list of prompts made by @ministarfruit you can find right here if you are in need of motivation or themes, but there are no "must dos" or rules.
Simply have fun and create as much or as little as you like! Maybe we could use #femslash omens as a collective tag to make posts easier to find (though I'm open to other tag suggestions as well).
Additionally, feel free to tag me if you want, I will gladly reblog any and all creations 💚

day 6, dahlia / it still bleeds. Angelfish again, might do them for everything, who knows. I love them lots.
“I might like a house on Earth,” says Jeanne, “with a garden. I’ll grow dahlias.”
“I’ll get you a house,” says Michael decisively. Heaven does have a system for that, the allocation of Earthly residences to saints and angels stationed there. She’ll fast track the process for Jeanne. Jeanne will have her house. This is good, Jeanne had avoided Earth while her mortal mother Isabelle had been alive. She’d missed it, she’d loved it before (Michael won’t say it, won’t think it, it still bleeds in them both) it was her home, and it’s good she wants to go back to the things she liked. Have something for herself that’s about more than just the thing Michael’s not thinking about.
“No,” says Jeanne, shaking her head. “I want us to have a house. You and me and Dagon.”
“I'll ask,” says Michael.
“She's your girlfriend, why would she say no?”
Girlfriend isn't the word Michael would have used for Dagon. It doesn't exactly capture the centuries of encounters they've had, or the way she knows how far she can push a blade against her skin before she bleeds, the familiar saltwater smell that hangs around her, her sigh and laugh, the way her scales peel when she's stressed or how she lets Michael (enemy, she’s her enemy, except she’s not) soothe them. Girlfriends can’t begin to explain the ichor staining her fingers or the sweet tingling of their hands slotting together. There is no word for that.
Michael asks. “Jeanne wants a house on Earth,” she says the next time they’re together, as if it’s neutral.
Dagon’s swinging her feet off the edge of the roof they’re both on. “I can get her one. Won’t take long.”
Michael could have (should have) predicted this. “She wants us both to live in it with her.”
Dagon’s feet go still.
“I told her I’d ask you,” says Michael. “You can say no.”
Dagon sinks her head between her shoulders. “No.”
“She’ll be disappointed.” Michael clenches and unclenches her fist around her thumb. “I would like if… I would like you to say yes.”
“I can’t.”
Michael knew she’d say this. She doesn’t know why she’s disappointed now. “Why?”
“I can’t do that to you,” says Dagon, all choked up. “Don’t ask me to do that to you. You deserve better.”
“Dagon, I don’t know what you mean.” Michael crouches beside her, to be close to her.
“I can’t live with you. I can’t let them see me living with you. It’s too dangerous.”
“Would Hell keep tabs on you like that?”
Dagon hunches in on herself even more. “Heaven does. Don’t they?”
And then it hits. Dagon isn’t worried about herself, she’s worried about Michael, Michael and Jeanne. “You sweet - you lovely - it won’t be like that. We’ll be safe.”
“I can’t put you in danger.”
“If there are records, I’ll know about them. I’ll dispose of them,” Michael promises.
“You don’t know that. You don’t know you can. Awful things could happen. You could Fall.”
“I won’t Fall.”
“I couldn’t see you Fall. I couldn’t bear it.”
Michael knocks her shoulder into Dagon’s. “I won’t Fall,” she says again.
Dagon swallows. “If you can be sure, if you can prove that… you can't. I won't let you Fall."
Dagon doesn’t come to their next meeting.
Has she done it? Has she pushed her away? She wouldn’t end it like this. She couldn’t. Doesn’t she feel the same?
Michael waits. Eventually she can’t wait anymore, can’t wonder what she did wrong, can’t deny the creeping fear that something has happened to Dagon.
She takes the lift straight down to Hell.
It’s Ligur she sees when the door opens. He doesn’t look very surprised. He nods at her, she nods back.
She opens her mouth to speak, but he gets there first. “I’m not going to ask, and I don’t want to know. I’ll take you where you need to go.”
She debates telling him she’s fine, she’ll find it. He is a demon, after all. (A demon, like Dagon, the enemy.) But this is Ligur, and he has always been a good colleague. She’ll even dare to call him a friend. He leads her through the grimy corridors of Hell, with the awful demotivational posters on the walls. He stops abruptly, so she almost crashes into him. “Here we are.”
It’s a door. It’s almost the same colour as the wall, though she isn’t sure if that’s the real colour or just dirt. She reaches out and grasps the handle.
“This is where I leave you,” he says, and turns away.
She shouldn’t let him go. This could be a trap. But it isn’t - there’s a filthy plaque at eye level, and she can barely make out the words but they are there: DUKE DAGON. LORD OF FILES. MASTER OF TORMENTS.
How did Ligur know? She supposes she’s grateful to him. She tries the handle, and it turns, but the door won’t open. There’s a heavy weight against it.
“Don’t come in,” says Dagon.
“Dagon,” says Michael, “it’s me, please.”
Shuffling, and the weight is gone. Michael goes inside.
Dagon looks awful. Her scales are peeling, there are bags under her eyes. “Dagon,” Michael says, “hey.”
“You’re okay,” says Dagon, “you haven’t fallen yet, you’re okay. You should leave.”
Michael shakes her head. “I’m not leaving. I’m not leaving you. I won’t Fall. Not ever. That hasn’t happened since - you know.”
“I don’t want you to get hurt. You’ll get hurt because of me, I’ve been… I worry.”
“I won’t, I’m sure of it,” says Michael. “It’s my risk to take and I’ll take it. Let me risk this to be with you.”
“You won’t Fall,” says Dagon, like she’s catching up. “You can’t. It’s not possible.”
“Let me choose you.”
“...Okay.”

Rain
@sapphicmicrofics
Pairing: Lily Evans Potter/Narcissa Black Malfoy Rating: T CW: Angst, UHEA WC: 50
*****
Maybe it’s because Narcissa didn’t grow up with Muggle movies and books.  She didn’t get the memo about rain-soaked love confessions.  They’re supposed to lead to kissing and happily ever afters, not whatever this is. “I can’t,” Narcissa shakes her head, face frozen in pain and longing.  “Please…” Lily begs.

angelfish! femslash february day 12. karma. set not long before the start of season 2. what is dagon so busy with?
Dagon has been paying far too little attention to Michael. She spends almost no time at the house anymore, lounging like she used to, showing Jeanne the little animals. She hasn’t been around to slink up to Michael like she’s water personified, her touch cool and refreshing and powerful and strong. She misses half of Michael's calls. This is unlike her. Something, Michael assumes, must be going on.
She will work it out. If Dagon has a problem, she will fix it. Then she will have her back.
She thinks to call Ligur. Then she remembers. Ligur is dead.
He left her with a number, though. “You won’t need this,” he’d told her. “But if you can’t reach anyone at all down here…”
She calls Hastur.
“Archangel Michael,” he spits, like it’s an insult. She hates his voice. Ligur was the only tolerable part of him. “I know you had an association with my husband, but-”
“Is there,” she asks, casually as she can, “anything going on downstairs I should know about?”
“Nothing,” he responds. She has no idea what Ligur saw in him. She tries to respect him, for Ligur and now in his memory, but Hastur makes it hard. “Business as usual. As much as we can, after all that.”
“There’s nothing going on with any of the other dukes?”
He sounds suspicious. “Have a reason to think there is?”
“No reason,” she says. She’s not sure what Ligur might have told him. How much he knows. Ligur knew why she cared, but Hastur? She doesn’t trust him the way she trusted Ligur.
“Then leave me alone,” he says, “I’ve been trying to get through to Lord Beelzebub since last night and I’m just here.” There’s muffled shouting from Hastur’s end of the line, he grumbles “let me through, you fishy bitch,” and a painfully familiar voice comes through.
“Lord Beelzebub isn’t available at the moment. All concerns are to come through me.”
Dagon. God, Michael misses her like she’s missing a piece of herself. She loves her, she needs her, why hasn’t she come home?
“You power-grabbing-” Hastur cuts himself off with a scream. There’s a crash, as if the phone has hit the floor.
“Say that again,” snarls Dagon. “I will discorporate you.”
Hastur either doesn’t get it or thinks he can win. “You power-grabbing pathetic excuse for a-”
The sound of a pistol going off. A flintlock pistol, if Michael had to guess, one acquired in the 1700s and kept lovingly for almost three centuries since. “Anyone else?” asks Dagon.

I think. My problem. Is my standards too high. I do. Unfortunately. Want femslash to be good. And yet so often. Femslash is identical to good omens season two.

no. of kudos and age of fic: some very confused stats?
aka i think i might be on to a thing but i'm not quite sure what it is
@destinationtoast, god-king of fandom stats, looked at some age of fic x popularity metrics stats and found some cool stuff -- so i wanted to check what they found in two selected non-HP ships against a fandom/some ships i'm more familiar with.
my method notes were similar to toast's--a random title-based sampling of ~300 fics, oneshots only. i also filtered for english only, no crossovers, and otp:true.
1) toast saw that the very oldest fics tended to have the most kudos. that was actually not what i saw for drarry (and most other HP ships):
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(same data in both graphs, one's log-scaled)
if anything, more recent oneshots tended to have more kudos on average! imo this is likely something unique/peculiar to this fandom, though.
also potentially worth looking into: good omens, witcher, asoiaf/game of thrones/house of the dragon, star wars -- things with some old-ish canon, and then some much more recent additions to that. maybe also BTVS and his dark materials bc curious and self indulgent 😅
2) toast fascinatingly found that total kudos correlated really well with kudos per day. this was definitely the case for drarry --
Tumblr media
but what does this metric mean?
how likely it is that a popular fics tends to stay popular/ become more popular?
this was also interesting because while some ships showed high correlation,
Tumblr media
several others didn't! ranging from slightly didn't to wow really didn't
Tumblr media Tumblr media
('Femslash' was HP + F/F -M/M -M/F. i grabbed stats for 300 of each ship or the entire ship, whichever was smaller)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
there was some correlation with ship size, i think?
the corresponding kudos by age of fic graphs, for these ships. with a rolling average bc i could not see what kind of equation this fit 😂

solrosan's fandom year 2023
Wow, we're doing this late this year!
Because of ReasonsTM, this year has been pretty low on fannish activities, but there are still some things to sum up!
2023 was the year that I…
…stepped down as an OTW Translation volunteer (because of ReasonsTM)
…started a tag that people say they smile/giggle at every time they see
…set my own NaNoWriMo goal at 6000 words and reached 13113!
…unfollowed and refollowed Neil Gaiman more times that I care to remember due to Tumblr being its usual bitchy self (yes, this was related to the Good Omens’ premiere).
…used a free trial on Amazon Prime (also related to Good Omens)
…bought my mum a Christmas present from her current fandom
…realised my April Fool’s joke backfired hard
…gave into bandom
…almost allowed myself to become a kpop blog for real
…spent so many nights watching concert videos
(…actually watched so much INFINITE on YouTube that their algorithm has run out of content to show me)
…fell in love with Richard Armitage and his singing voice
…realised Spotify wraps funny due to the point above
…finally named a very important OC
…found my portable HD again
…had the intention to do Whumpril
…honestly believed I’d finish THE femslash fic
…started posting old fics
...watched more TV than I think I ever have
...can't remember a single thing I watched
(...except Good Omens, Bloodhounds, season 2 of D.P., Moving, and half of the last The Crown season)
...finally moved into the cabin with @elletromil and @insanereddragon (or at least renamed the chat after the day dream)
Stats:
I posted 7 955 words on AO3
They were split over four works
One is new, three are reworked and posted
All of them are in The King: Eternal Monarch
The engagement with them are so low that I won't do a most hits/comment/kudosed
This is the tumblr post with most notes from 2023
(It's also my main project this year, I'm very pleased with the result so far. Still a WIP though.)
Lastly, a huge thank you to everyone who I've talked to this year! You've kept me sane and you've kept me connected to myself. Thank you, thank you, thank you! I'm so sorry if you feel like I've drifted off.
Special shout out to @blau-s and all our discussions about our little AUs. Thank you for sharing, and thank you for listening! We will finish them one day! (Right?)
