Officials in McCurtain County, Oklahoma were caught on a recording seemingly plotting to kill a local newspaper publisher and his son. Those officials also lamented that it’s no longer possible to lynch black people and get away with it.
Two of those caught on the recording are elected Republican officials: Sheriff Kevin Clardy and McCurtain County Commissioner Mark Jennings (District 2). They have resisted pressure from everybody from the governor down to a local state legislator to resign. They are also under investigation by state and federal law enforcement agencies.
Oklahoma governor calls on officials to resign over recording of racist and threatening remarks
McCurtain County is a backwater even by Oklahoma standards. It’s in the southeastern corner of the state next to Texas and Arkansas.
Tumblr media
This incident shows why it’s important to monitor what public officials are up to – even in remote places. It points out the importance of local media like the McCurtain Gazette-News which broke the story.
Wherever we live, we should not neglect local elections. Candidates should get a thorough vetting. It would be interesting to know whether Clardy and Jennings have anything in their past where they displayed KKK or mafia style thinking.

“Lend Me Some Vanilla?”
Tumblr media Tumblr media

A/N: ik the "Gas leak" is shit but I couldn't figure something else out I'm sry guys😭😭
Tumblr media
"knock knock knock"
Spencers attention was pulled from his book by the sound a of a knock at the door. Wondering who it was- Spencer hoisted himself from his comfortable spot on the large leather couch to answer the door.
“creakkk”
as the light of the hallway bled into the much more dimly lit apartment, a man in sweatpants, a white shirt that read “bad-ass baker” is a rainbow font (u know the meme font im talking abt), and an apron with bits of flower and egg splattered over it.
“hi im so sorry spencer- but i really need some vanilla extract- im on my last batch of cookies and i ran out. I would ask if it wasn’t super necessary but since i had to close my bakery because its under renovations right now, so to make money i’ve been doing orders and making them from home and i need to get these cookies done tonight im so sorry-“
“i have vanilla..”
spencer cut off his neighbors rambling, silently inviting him inside while he fetched the vanilla.
“thank you so much by the way, i can make you something as thanks!”
y/n stood awkwardly behind the couch, eyes surveying the room. spencers back was to the common area, his arm outstretched to reach the top shelf of the kitchen cabinet. Spencers body language was comfortable, as he and y/n had been friends since he moved in 2 years ago, and he knew the baker well. spencer knew him as the neighbor with silly shirts and a bakery, and the neighbor that gave him the extras that didnt get sold at the end of the day in little plastic take out containers.
“Oh no its okay the leftovers from your bakery are thanks enough”
spencer said with a chuckle, and y/n laughed too. And just as spencer was walking over both y/n and his phones dinged from the pocket of y/ns apron and the coffee table where spencer had left it when he got the door. Y/n pulled out his phone, seeing a text from the landlord. As y/n read his face fell, getting the attention of spencer and causing him to ask;
“What? Is something wrong?”
“check your texts- Larry sent something about how we cant leave our apartments..”
The look on spencers face was one of confusion, and he grew even more confused when he read the text detailing that no one was to leave their apartment- at any cost because of a possible gas leak, meaning they had to send people to check in the morning- but until then Larry didn’t want to risk it.
“soooooo.. what do i do know?”
y/n looked to spencer for guidance, wondering what to do. spencer didn’t quite know either, but being the rule follower he is he decided the best course of action was for y/n to stay. He also knew the statistics of gas leaks and how dangerous they could be- so he wasn’t taking any chances.
“well, i dont know how safe it is to be in the hallways right now, its probably best if you stay here until morning, or at least for a couple hours until Larry can get someone in here to check it out..”
now if this was most anyone else y/n would’ve just declined and held his breath while he walked the 10 feet to his door down the hall, but this was spencer. And much to no ones surprise, y/n had been crushing on the FBI agent from afar for 6 months now. He was in love with his style, his apartment (from what he’d seen), his face, his hair. Y/n had a tendency to romanticize things, just ask his friends, and this was the perfect opportunity. So when spencer proposed he stated over night just to be safe, y/n agreed almost immediately.
“ya i should probably stay the night, just to be safe you know? And by the way, if im staying over night do you mind if i put my apron in your kitchen? i dont wanna get flour on your couch…”
spencer chuckled and nodded, using his chin to point towards the kitchen where y/n could leave his dirtied apron. After y/n left his apron splayed out on the counter, abandoned spencer chuckled at his shirt, which was now visible. When y/n noticed spencers laughs he looked at him confused, following his line of sight, and he was met with his shirt.
“oh ya- my shirt? i got it as a joke gift from a friend- and i couldn’t help myself”
they both chuckled at this while y/n moved across the room to join spencer where he had taken his spot on the large leather couch back. Y/n plopped down next to spencers, sitting as far away from him as he could without it it being awkward- or at least more awkward than it already was. because little did Y/n know but spencer had been simultaneously admiring y/n from across the hall. And when y/n suggested they watch a show spencer took the opportunity to do away with the awkward silence, suggesting Doctor Who. y/n almost immediately agreed, taking the remote from the coffee table and handing it to spencer to pull up the show.
Once the show had started, the lights of the TV screen illuminated the room while spencer pulled a blanket out of a basket and spread it out over both y/n and himself. And unconsciously y/n scooted closer to spencer, hoping for more warmth from the soft throw. Or maybe more warmth from spencer, who knows..
After a couple episodes, y/n eyes were beginning droop as he had been up since 5 am, baking. Spencer- the ever profiler- noticed this. But despite the fact that y/ns blinks were gradually gaining length each time- he kept shifting a little bit, trying to get comfortable. And now if it had been a couple hours ago when y/n knocked on the door then spencer would’ve never done it, not in a million, billion years. But now they had been talking and watching their show for at least 2 1/2 hours now, spencer giving facts and corrections, y/n giving opinions, for the pair to then debate upon. And spencer felt confident enough to invite y/n to lean on him.
“ you know, if your tired.. then i dont mind if you wanna lay on me- you must be tired…”
“ya- how did you know..?”
Y/n’s voice was that of someone who was already half asleep, the constant sound of the tv lulling him to sleep before spencer could even answer. But spencer didnt mind- he loved admiring y/n, his face so incredibly peaceful. And he thought to himself, ‘the cookies can wait till morning’, before soon doxing off himself.
The End

Chainshipping Prompt #2:
Adam’s ghost full on haunts the shit out of John until John agrees to leave Lawrence alone.
But wait, there’s more.
Adam was never dead, he just made a deal with Hoffman to smuggle him out of the bathroom to fuck with John. Dead guy in the bathroom is actually some no name asshole who got Hoffman’s coffee order wrong. (He’ not being petty, honest). He and Hoffman work together to con John.
Pro for Hoffman, Larry is out of the picture now, and he doesn’t have to worry about competition for John’s legacy. Con: he has to fucking work with Adam. Why is this guy so insufferable. (If he starts to be reminded of Angelina because of Adam’s terrible taste in music that’s no one’s business but his own. Also he’s kinda lowkey pissed that Amanda tried to kill this guy. Like WTF Mandy, Adam was never going to be John’s favorite anyway).
Adam meanwhile see’s no con’s only pro’s.
He get’s to mess with Hoffman (man is unintentionally the funniest fucker alive - I mean, who thinks that the best way to flirt with the guy is to try to drown him? Not fucking Adam, that’s for sure), He get’s to fuck with Kramer (Thank you John Rogers for giving him Leverage - AKA his conning bible, even if Hoffman think’s it’s stupid as hell), and he get’s to get Larry away from that guy. If he’s stuck in a roommate comedy with Hoffman until he can actually tell his doctor he’s alive, again, Adam see’s no cons in that.
Lawrence is sure in for a shock when he wakes up in an unfamiliar apartment to Adam and Hoffman in a screaming match while FBI agent Mr. supposed-to-be-dead!Peter Strahm is listening to them with his head in his hands, every so often shaking his head. “Why did I have to fall in love with the fucked up idiot? Why did I do that to myself?” —> Or Hoffman really thought the best way to clue Lawrence into Adam’s very alive state was to drug him and bring him back to his apartment.

Summary: Ivonne Rainer was practically a trained killing machine. Stripped to the bone then built back up by her father in order to become one of the best, like he was. She was forced into hunting when she was nineteen, having developed powers that couldn’t be explained. That is, until she was paid a visit by Azazel’s lackey. Her powers were gone, she needed help, and that’s when she found her father’s journal. Pointing to Sam and Dean Winchester.
SERIES MASTERLIST
NIGHTSHIFTER
“Hey there, FBI agent Anna Drewe.” I flashed by badge to a man working at a counter. “I just want to ask a few questions about the incident.”
“Shoot.” He smiled.
“Alright, your name is Logan Turner, yes?” I raised an eyebrow, holding Carl loosely as he jotted everything down.
“Yep.”
“Tell me about Helen.”
“She was like family.” Logan frowned. “The lady said it herself. We were the only family she had. Then Larry, our manager, gets a call sayin’ that Helen’s emptying everything out and then you hear a gunshot. Few days later, she kills herself.”
“Alright, thanks, Mr Turner.” I smiled, storing Carl in my pocket. “Thank you for your cooperation.”
”Would you, uh, want to, maybe… go out sometime?”
“Sorry, sir, but I don’t mix business with pleasure.” Then I heard Dean flirting with the receptionist. I gritted my teeth, taking a deep breath. “And neither should my partner.” I walked over to Dean, covering the paper which he was handing to Frannie the receptionist. “Keep it strictly business, Agent.”
“That-That’s right, partner.” Dean nodded, and sent a longing look to Frannie before walking with me. Frannie sent me a dirty look, but I ignored it.
“We’re here to string the bank robberies together, not score a night with a receptionist.”
“Why can’t I live a little?”
“Cause take off that suit and remove your badge and to her, you’re just another ordinary Joe.”
“Am I an ordinary Joe to you, Beanie?”
“Course not. To me, you’re sexy.”
“Wait, really?”
“No.”
Tumblr media
We pulled up in front of a  small house, which was the residence of Ronald Resnick, the security guard that worked one of the cases.
“Five -- this is it.” Sam nodded.
“Friggin’ cops.” Dean grimaced.
“They’re doing their job, Dean.” I sighed.
“No, they're doing our job, only they don't know it, so they suck at it. Talk to me about this bank.”
“Milwaukee National Trust. It was hit about a month ago.“
“Same M.O?”
“Yep, inside job, longtime employee, the never-in-a-million-years type.” Sam added. “Dude robs the bank, then goes home and supposedly commits suicide.”
“I’ve been having Carl make a pattern.” I smiled.
“This guy, Resnick,” Dean frowned, “he was the security guard on duty?”
“Yeah. Beaten unconscious by the teller who heisted the place.”
“God.” We knocked on Ronald’s door.
“Mr. Resnick? Ronald Resnick?” Sam called, and then a bright floodlight blinded us temporarily. Then Ronald came to the door.
“FBI, Mr. Resnick.”  I smiled, but he looked apprehensive.
“Show me ID.” Ronald demanded, so we took out our IDs and put them on the screen door at the same time. Ronald peered at them, then we retracted them. “I’ve already given my statement to the police.”
“Yeah, listen Ronald,” Dean cleared his throat, “just some things about your statement we wanted to get some clarification on.”
“You read it?”
“Sure did.”
“You’ve come to listen to what I've got to say?”
“That’s why we’re here.”
“Well, come on in.” We entered, and he led us to a cluttered room with stuff about ghosts and androids. “None of the cops ever called me back. Not after I told them what was really going on. Uh, they all thought I was crazy. First off, Juan Morales never robbed the Milwaukee National Trust, okay? That, I guarantee. See, we and Juan were friends. He used to come back to the bank on my night shifts, and we'd play cards.”
“So you let him into the bank that night, after hours.” Sam frowned.
“The thing I let into the bank . . . wasn't Juan. I mean, it had his face, but it wasn't his face. Uh, every detail was perfect, but too perfect, you know, like if a dollmaker made it, like I was talking to a big Juan-doll.”
“A Juan-doll?”
“Look. This wasn't the only time this happened. Okay?” He handed me a folder, and I flicked through it. Dude could be a hunter if he wanted to, cause he’s followed this thing closely. “There was this jewelry store, too. And the cops, a--and you guys, you just won't see it! Both crimes were pulled by the same thing.”
“And what’s that, Mr Resnick?” I asked, looking up from the folder. He held up a magazine called the ‘Fortean Times’, with the headline ‘BIRTH OF THE CYBERMEN’.
“Chinese've been working on 'em for years. And the Russians before that. Part men, part machine. Like the Terminator. But the kind that can change itself, make itself look like other people.”
“Like the one from T2.” Dean smirked.
“Exactly! See, so not just a robot, more of a-a-a-a ... mandroid.”
“A mandroid?” Sam blinked.
“And what makes you so sure about this, Ronald?” Dean challenged. Ronald held up a finger, then played a security tape.
“See, I made copies of all the security tapes. I knew once the cops got them they'd be buried. Here.” He fast forwarded it. “Now watch. Watch. Watch him, watch, watch! See, look! Th-th-there it is!” He paused it just as Juan turned to the camera, a flare in his eyes. Shapeshifter’s eyes flare when they face a camera. “You see? He's got the laser eyes.” Dean, Sam and I shared a look. “Cops said it was some kind of reflected light. Some kind of "camera flare". Okay? Ain't no damn camera flare. They say I'm a post-trauma case. So what? Bank goes and fires me, it don't matter! The mandroid is-is still out there. The law won't hunt this thing down- I'll do it myself. You see, this thing, it, it, it kills the real person, makes it look like a suicide, then it sorta, like, morphs into that person. Cases the job for a while until it knows the take is fat, and then it finds its opening. Now, these robberies, they're, they're grouped together. So I figure the mandroid is holed up somewhere in the middle, underground, maybe. I dunno, maybe that's where it recharges its, uh, mandroid batteries.“
We stood up, and Sam stepped forward. “Okay. I want you to listen very carefully. Because I'm about to tell you the God's honest truth about all of this.” Sam sighed. “There's no such thing as mandroids. There's nothing evil or inhuman going on out there. Just people. Nothing else, you understand?” THE HELL-
“The laser eyes-“
“Just a camera flare, Mr. Resnick. See, I know you don't want to believe this. But your friend Juan robbed the bank and that's it.”
“Get out of my house! Now!”
“Sure, sir. First things first.”
Tumblr media
We were at my safe house in Milwaukee, and I unlocked the door, and once we got inside, I rounded on Sam. “Classified evidence of an ongoing case?” I scoffed, hanging up my jacket and taking off my heels. “Just people? Dude, you just crushed Resnick’s resolve.”
“What are you, pissed at me or something?”
“You’re a good actor, Sam.” I sighed. “But you’re not meant to be that good. His file was legit, it was the level of the work we’ve been doing. We could at least appraise him for his work.”
“Yeah, except he's not a hunter. He's just a guy who stumbled onto something real. If he were to go up against this thing he'd get torn apart. Better to stay in the dark, and stay alive.”
“You don’t have to do him like that, though.” I ran a hand through my hair. “Instant noodles, anyone?”
“Anytime.” Dean grinned.
“I’m gonna change first, though.” I went upstairs, and Carl sprang out of the jacket, joining Sam at the table and writing something.
She was jealous earlier.
“Jealous of Frannie?” Dean scoffed. “Please.”
“Girls have emotions.” Sam shrugged. “She seemed kind of worked up, though, when she dragged you away from that receptionist.”
“Shut up.”
Tumblr media
We were all eating instant noodles, and I drew on our map.
“Shapeshifter. Just like back in St. Louis.” I confirmed. “Same retinal reaction to video.”
“Eyes flare at the camera. I hate those friggin' things.” Dean grumped.
“You think we don’t?” Sam scoffed.
“One didn’t turn into you and frame you for murder.”
“Yeah, but they’re damn hard to catch.” I frowned. “This is gonna be difficult, especially if it’s like the one you guys wasted in Missouri.”
“Then Ronald was right. All right, they like to layer up underground, preferably the sewer. And all the robberies have been connected so far, right?”
“Yeah.” Sam nodded.
“I see where you’re going.” I deduced then Carl circled a bank. “There’s one more on that sewer main. So if it’s the next target, this shifter isn’t gonna wait a bit. We need to hit this bank as soon as possible. However, it could risk both of you getting exposed.”
“It’s worth the risk.” Dean nodded, then shovelled noodles into his mouth.
“Carl, can you draw me up a layout of that bank?” I asked, then Carl started sketching out the bank blueprints.
“We need to load up.” Sam resolved. “Cause then Milwaukee PD could show up and if they get wind we’re here, the Feds.”
Tumblr media
I was wearing a black jumpsuit, wearing a brunette wig in a ponytail as I posed as a wealthy customer. Dean kept on giving me once-overs, and had whistled when he first saw me. I walked over to the receptionist, adopting a British accent. “Selene Windsor.”
“Right, I had the note that you were coming.” She nodded. “Right this way, ma’am.” I was led down the same path as Dean and Sam, talking in a haughty manner.
“If I’m to entrust my money here, I need to know that it’s secure. It doesn’t seem that way if technicians are having to come down.” I hugged.
“Just a general software bug, ma’am.” Dean smirked, his eyes flicking down my body for the fiftieth time.
“So I can’t trust my money to this bank.” I retorted. “I want to check this system myself.”
“Yes, ma’am.” The receptionist guided me to the room which Sam and Dean were going to, then ran away.
“All righty. You guys need anything else?” The guard asked.
“Oh, no, no, we'll be, uh, we'll be in and out before you know it, just a routine check.” Sam excused.
“Okie-dokie.” He left, and I sighed in relief, taking off my wig and releasing my hair from its bun.
“I like him. He says ‘Okie-dokie.’” Dean snorted, wheeling to face me.
“But what if he’s the shifter?” I asked, running my fingers through my hair.
“Well, then we follow him home, put a silver bullet through his chestplate.” I walked over to him, reaching behind me.
“Can you undo my zip?”
“W-What?”
“Just do it!” He unzipped my jumpsuit, and it fell to the floor, revealing a black crop top and blue shorts underneath, and I changed my shoes to running boots. Dean breathed a sigh of relief, making me laugh. “You didn’t think I’d publicly ask you to undress me? Keep dreaming.” I sat down, wheeling up on a chair.
“Okay. Well, you got any popcorn in that purse?” I pulled it out of my purse (yes, it also has the extension spell), handing it to him. “Thanks.” We watched the screens for a while, but we found no camera flare on the guard’s eyes.
”Maybe he just loves his job.” I shrugged. “Cause Mr Okie-Dokie is, well, okie-dokie.”
“Maybe we jumped the gun on this.” Sam fretted. “I mean, we don't even know it's here. Maybe we should just go back to the sewers and… and-“ I rolled up a piece of paper, slapping Dean on the head with it.
“Dean, focus. We’re meant to be looking for the shifter.”
“I'm getting there.” Dean retorted.
“Oh, really?”
“Wait.” A middle aged man turned to the camera, and his eyes flared. We turned to each other, nodding. “Hello, freak.”
”Got him.” Sam whispered before bolting to the door, but I spotted something else.
“Sam!” I called, zooming in on that screen.
“Yeah?”
“Look.” Ronald was locking and bolting the door shut, holding an assault rifle. “Sweet cheese. It’s Ronald.”
“And you said we shouldn't bring guns.” Dean groaned.
“I didn’t know this was gonna happen, Dean.” Sam grimaced.
“Speak for yourselves.” I smirked, taking my gun out of my ankle holster. They stared at the gun, dumbfounded. “Yeah, I come prepared. Even if you tell me no. Just let me do the talking. I don't think he likes you very much, Agent Johnson.“ I hid my gun in my purse as we found Ronald.
“Now, there's only one way in or out of here, and I chained it up.” Ronald yelled. “So nobody's leaving, do you understand?”
“Hey, buddy. Calm down. Just calm down.” Dean tried to bargain as we entered.
“What the- you! Get on the floor, now.”
“Okay, we're doing that. Just don't shoot anybody, especially us.”
“I knew it. As soon as you two left. You ain't FBI. Who are you? Who are you working for, huh? The men in black? You working for the mandroid?”
“We’re not working for the mandroid!” Sam burst out.
“You, shut up! I ain't talking to you. I don't like you.”
“Told you so.” I whispered, then put my hands up.
“Fair enough.” Sam grumbled.
“Get on 'em.” Ronald ordered a middle-aged man. “Frisk them down, make sure they got no weapons on them. Go!” I was frisked down, but they found nothing. Then they frisked Dean, but they found a knife in his boot.
“Dean!” I hissed. That obvious?
“I wasn’t gonna walk in naked!” Dean replied quietly. “You’re one to talk.”
“Hey, hey, Ronald, listen to me.” I spoke up, my hands up as I cautiously approached him. “We know you don't want to hurt anybody. That's exactly what's gonna happen if you keep waving that rifle around, and why don't you let these people go?”
“No! I already told you. If nobody's gonna stop this thing, then I've got to do it myself.”
“Why do you think we’re here? We believe you.”
“You don't believe me. Nobody believes me! How could they?”
“Tell you what, c’mere.”
“What?! No!”
“You have the gun.” Well, that wasn’t true. “You’re the boss here, and I can’t do squat. Just trust me.” Ronald then approached me, and I lowered my voice. “It’s the manager. Why do you think we've got these getups, huh? We've been monitoring the cameras in the back. We saw the bank manager. We saw his eyes.”
“His laser eyes?”
“Whatever you wanna call ‘em, but we did.” I nodded. “But we’re running out of time. We need to get him before he changes into someone else.”
“Like I'm gonna listen to you. You're a damn liar.”
“Doesn’t mean I ain’t a truther. And my partner told you that lie, not me. If you don’t trust me, hold a gun on me and take me hostage. But we've gotta act fast. Because the longer we just sit here the more time he has to change. Look at me, man. I believe you. You're not crazy. There really is something inside this bank.” I paused, “Do I look like someone who’d lie to you?”
“All right. You come with me. But everyone else gets in the vault!”
“Check behind the desk.” I ordered as I went into a back room. Then I heard a yell, and I instantly rushed out. Ronald had fallen, and was lying next to a pile of shed skin. He screamed, standing up and pointing his gun at it.
“What the hell is that?” He squealed.
“Great.” I grimaced, turning on a lamp. “It sheds its skin when it changes. So now, it could be anybody.”
“It's so, so weird. Its robot skin is so lifelike.”
“Alright, Ronald, let me get this straight.” I huffed. “It's not an mandroid. It's a shapeshifter.“
“Shapeshifter?“
”Yeah. I mean, it's human, more or less. Has human drives- and in this case it's money. But it generates its own skin, it can shape it to match someone else's features, you know, taller, shorter, male, etcetera.”
“So it-it-it kills someone and then takes their place.”
“Kills them, doesn't kill them, I don't think it really matters.” I shrugged, rummaging in my purse.
“What are you doing?” I pulled out my gun, replacing it with silver bullets. “You had that the whole time?!”
“Want me to be honest?”
“Yeah!”
“Yes, I did.” I stored the other cartridge, turning to him. “You remember the old werewolf stories? Pretty much came from these guys. Silver's the only thing I've seen that hurts them.” I started walking, then stopped. “C’mon, Ronald.” We walked down a hallway, and I heard Ronald started chuckling. “What are you, nuts?”
“That's just it. I'm not nuts.” He laughed. “I mean, I was so scared that I was losing my marbles. But this is real! I mean, I, I, I was right! Except for the mandroid thing. Thank you.”
“Don’t mention it.” Then the power went out, and I cursed. “Damn it. Not now, not now!”
“What is it?”
“They cut the power. Probably their way of saying hi.”
“Who?”
“The cops.”
“THE COPS?!”
“What did you think would happen?” I hissed. “Well, you weren't exactly a smooth criminal about this, Ron. I mean, you didn't even secure the security guard. He probably called them.”
“I-I didn’t think I-“
“All right, hang on, hang on, let's just take a breath here for a second, all right? They — they've probably got us surrounded. They've cut the power to the cameras so there's no way of telling who the shapeshifter is. So I’m gonna be honest; it’s not looking good.” We heard a noise, to which Ron brought his rifle up. “D’you hear that?” We stalked down, finding three more people, including the guard. “Alright, get up!” I barked, and they followed us to the vault. I opened it, and Dean and Sam were relieved to see that I was alive. “Sam, Dean, look, uh, Ronald and I need to talk to you. Also, a few more prisoners.” I shut the door behind me when Dean and Sam climbed out. “It's shed its skin again. We don't know when - it could be in the halls, it could be in the vault.”
“Great. You know, Dean, you are wanted by the police.” Sam pointed out.
“He is, but I need his help. We’re gonna tackle one problem at a time, yeah? Dean and I are gonna sweep the place, find some stragglers if they’re there. Sam, you help Ron manage-“
“Help him manage?! Are you insane?”
“‘Fraid so, cause everyone here is in danger, Sam. This is the plan we’ve got. Once we’re done, I’ll come back to you and we’ll play Find the Freak.” I took out a letter opener I’d swiped. “Anyone makes a suspicious move, use it.” I took out another gun and gave it to Dean. “Alright, let’s do this.”
“How do you know all this?” Dean asked.
“You’re forgetting that I have a romantic relationship with a police officer. Who has done hostage negotiations and raids in the past.” I sighed. “Look, I know this isn't going the way we wanted-“
“Understatement.” Sam growled.
“-but if we invite the cops in right now, Ronald gets arrested, we get arrested, the shifter gets away, probably never find it again, okay?” I turned to Ron. “Ron! Out of the light!”
“Seriously?!”
“Yeah, Ron's game plan was a bad plan, I mean, it was a bit of a crazy plan, but right now crazy's the only game in town, okay? Dean, come with me.” Dean and I walked off.
Tumblr media
A while later, I walked back after my sweep, finding Ron dead. I glared at Dean and Sam, who put their hands up. “Ok, this has gone way too far. The shifter ran away cause you let him out and now he’s probably a completely different person. Well done, you handled this perfectly.” I sighed. “Dean, get a hostage outside. Unharmed. Now!” Dean took the guard, going to the door. I bent down beside Ron, hefting his body out of the light.
“We are so screwed.” Dean grumbled when he latched the door again. I peered outside, seeing black vans pull up while Dean talked to Sam.
“We have a problem!” I yelled.
Tumblr media
Outside, a man in an FBI jacket approached the Milwaukee PD. “Lieutenant Robards.” He barked.
“Yeah.” Robards replied.
“Special Agent Henriksen.”
“Let me guess. You're lead dog now, but you would just love my full cooperation.”
“I don't give a rat's ass what you do, you can go get a donut for all I care. What I do need is your S.W.A.T. team locked and loaded.”
“Listen, Agent. Something's not right about this. It's, um ... it's not going down like a usual heist.”
“That's because it isn't one. You have no idea what you're dealing with, do you? There is a monster in that bank, Robards.”
Tumblr media
I picked up the landline, gritting my teeth. “Yeah?”
‘This is Special Agent Victor Henriksen.’
“Yeah, listen, I'm not really in the negotiating mood right now, so–”
‘Good. Me neither. It's my job to bring Dean in. Alive's a bonus but not necessary.’
“How do you-“
‘Yeah, I know. I want you, Dean and Sam out here, unarmed. Or we come in. And yes, I know about Sam too. And you, Ivonne Rainer. You’re the Bonnie to Dean’s Clyde, aren’t you?’
“No comment. How'd you even know we were here?”
‘Go screw yourself, that's how I knew. It's become my job to know about you. I've been looking for you for weeks now. I know about the murders in Jersey, I know about the Houdini act you pulled in Baltimore. I know about the desecrations and the thefts. I know about your family. Especially that father of yours. Some father he was, huh?.’
“You don’t know jack squat about my dad.”
‘Ex-Army general. Trained you since you were a young girl, put you in martial arts and taught you every method of survival. Most of your time was spent in a little cabin in the woods. Real militaristic survival.’
”Shut your mouth.”
‘Ooh, she’s got claws. Never expected it by someone who was raised like a soldier.’
“What do you want?”
‘All three of you, unarmed. You have one hour to make a decision or we come through those doors full automatic.’ He hung up, and I punched the table.
“Damn it!”
Tumblr media
“Scramble your men, five minutes, then we go in.” Henriksen ordered, standing up.
“What? Henriksen, they've let out one hostage so far. They've hurt no one as far as we can tell.” Robards frowned.
“You don't know these Winchesters, and Rainer, especially her. They're dangerous, smart, and expertly trained.”
“We can't risk the lives of all those people-“
“We know enough about the Winchesters to know that they’re insane, but don’t get me started on Ivonne Rainer.” He sized Robards up. “The Winchesters look and sound deadly, but Rainer’s a devil in disguise. Looks innocent, and hell, can she act innocent. Girl could be a mercenary in stilettos or in combat boots and a leather jacket and you wouldn’t see her coming until you’re on the floor with a bullet through your brain. She’s smart, she’s calculating, and has wormed her way out of serious charges twice, so she’s manipulative too. She didn’t hesitate before shooting her brother in self defence, and her boyfriend too, twice in the chest in cold, hard blood. She’s as dangerous as these Winchesters, maybe even more. A pretty face, but armed as hell.”
“This is crazy.”
“Crazy’s in there, and I just hung up on his right hand woman.”
Tumblr media
I went to the boys, grimacing. “We have a problem outside.”
“We have a problem in here.” Sam opened the vault, and Dean let Sherry out.
“We’re gonna let you go, Sherry.” Dean smiled.
“What? Why?” Sherry whimpered.
“As, uh, a good show of faith to the feds.” We led her into another room, where her dead body was kept.
“I thought you were letting me go.” She whispered, but then took one look at the body and started screaming.
“Is that community theater, or are you just naturally that good?”
“Tonight’s the last night you become anybody. Ever.” Sam smirked. Dean raised his gun, but then she fainted. He was about to shoot, but I put out my hand, shaking my head.
“It can’t be her. Fainting’s not gonna save her, the shifter’s smart enough to know that.” I frowned.
“Huh.” Dean knelt over the dead body, but then it opened his eyes and began wrestling with Dean. Sherry woke, and backed into Sam, who took her out of the way as she cried. I joined in on the fight, gesturing for Sam to clear Sherry out of the way as Dean got knocked in the chin. I slammed the shifter against the wall, taking out my gun, but I got headbutted, releasing my hold as the shifter bolted. I ran after it, but I’d lost it. Then I got rammed into a room, hand on my throat. I kicked the shifter away, sweeping its legs and managing to grab my gun again, shooting it in the chest. It cried out for a moment, but then went limp. I found my purse, taking out my wig and jumpsuit and slipping both of those back on while I met Dean and Sam, who were wearing S.W.A.T uniforms.
“Who d’you strip to get those?” I sighed.
”Two officers that I knocked out.” Sam answered casually.
“We’re so screwed.” Dean breathed.
“Royally screwed, Dean.” I grimaced. We turned on the Impala’s radio, driving off.

The strange life of Larry Bader
On May 15, 1957 the 30 year old Larry Bader rented a boat at the Rocky River near Cleveland that afternoon, and was warned about an upcoming storm. The deteriorating weather didn’t seem to faze Bader – at 4:30p.m. he shoved off in the rented motor boat.
The storm came up three hours later. The next morning, Bader’s boat was found on the rocks at Perkins Beach. Bader was not in it. The Coast Guard said the lake had been so rough no man could have survived overboard.
Four days later, a fascinating, debonair and well-dressed man entered the Roundtable Bar on the corner of 19th and Harney Streets in Omaha, Nebraska. He gave his name as John “Fritz” Johnson. He became a radio station announcer, sports director of a television station, and one of the best known, best liked and most flamboyant personalities in Omaha.
He told friends and acquaintances that he took up archery “to strengthen his back muscles after an injury”. With his background of hunting in Ohio, it is no surprise that he won the Nebraska state championship. Bader enthralled his friends with vivid stories of a boyhood in a Boston orphanage and 13 years in the Navy. He kept tropical fish — especially the Siamese fighting variety, the kind that devour each other. He wore an eyepatch after surgery to remove a cancerous tumour from his left eye, which added to his large than life character.
Meanwhile, Larry Bader was declared legally dead in an Akron court in 1960. By this time Mary lou Bader (his wife) had settled down to the business of trying to rear four children alone.
In 1964 a Nebraska archery firm sent Bader to a sports show at Chicago’s McCormick Place to show off its equipment. One of the visitors at the show was from Akron, and he did a double take when he saw the Nebraska archery champion. He had, he was sure, just seen a dead ringer for the missing Larry Bader. The man called Bader’s brothers from Akron. They flew into Chicago, took a look at Fritz and said he was their long lost brother. Johnson’s fingerprints were sent to the FBI, who compared them with the fingerprints Bader gave when he joined the US navy as an 18 year old – they matched. Johnson claimed to have no memory of his life as Lawrence Bader, probably due to the eye surgery.
So what was the real story behind the disappearance of Lawrence Bader and the appearance of John Johnson? Did Bader decide he was trapped in the life he was leading and saw only one way out – fake his own death and set up a new life somewhere else? Or was Bader suffering from dissociative amnesia, a rare condition where a person has no memory of their life owing to trauma or stress. In a dissociative fugue state, they have an urge to travel and may invent a new personality, settling in a new area with no recollection of how they got there.

Routine Examinations Pt2 - Jimmy Keene - Black Bird Imagine
Hi there, this story is loosely based off the Black Bird series starring Taron Egerton as James Keene. Although the series is based off real events, this story is not.
Summary: You’re a doctor working with the FBI, your new patient: Jimmy Keene.
Word count: 1562
Pairing: Reader x Jimmy Keene
TW: prison environment, mention of insulin injection, mentions of violence
Tumblr media
The number of attacks on inmates this week is extraordinarily high. Four stabbings initiated by one gang, more fights resulting in serious injury than I can count on both hands, and two deaths that were called before the victims could even make it to the infirmary. Yesterday afternoon I had to send a man to the hospital for an MRI and X-ray for a fractured skull. His attacker? The man sitting across from me in the patient chair, innocently waiting for his “insulin” shot: Jimmy Keene.
“Thanks, Nelson, I’ll get you to wait outside,” I’m chipper, despite my utter exhaustion. It’s days like today when I wish I was a part of the private industry.
He doesn’t even consider humoring me.
“I think Keene, here has learned his lesson. I’ll be fine, really.”
“Ma’am I don’t know”- I cut him off.
“I do. Please wait outside,” Nelson shifts his weight, yet looks unsure. “You’ll hear me scream if he tries anything.”
This seems to convince him enough to step into the hall. My attention turns to Keene, who looks almost as tired as I feel. He leans forward, elbows against his knees. His deep blue eyes waiting for me. There’s a smugness to him today.
“What the hell were you thinking yesterday?” I hiss at him, starting toward the chair. The cuffs remain on. There’s no way in hell I could even think about asking Nelson to take them off. If he isn’t tipped off already about having to leave the room, that would do it for sure. “You’ve been here less than a month and you’re already risking additional time on your sentence!”
Yet Jimmy remains unfazed as a large grin tugs at the corner of his mouth. “Guess what?” the smile is evident in his voice.
“What?” I ask.
“I got him to talk to me,” his eyes crinkle when he smiles, the bags disappearing for a moment. For a second, I forgive him for sending that man to the hospital.
“Hall?”
“Yeah,” he barely contains his excitement. I don’t know how I didn’t notice the moment he entered the room. It’s contagious because now I can’t help my smile. It’s been weeks with nothing, but now… Now the real work begins.
My eyes are drawn to his knuckles when he adjusts the cuffs around his wrists. They’re split and swollen but nothing in comparison to the man he sent to the ER; yet left untreated could get infected.
“Have you cleaned those?” I motion to his hands.
He looks surprised at my change in direction. “Well, I rinsed them with water.”
“Soap?”
“No, just rinsed them enough to get the blood off,” his tone is higher, tighter. He’s almost defensive.
“No soap? It could get infected,” any trace of smugness is gone, instead, I’ve embarrassed him with his poor hand washing abilities.  Jimmy leans back, disengaging from the conversation. I don’t try and comfort him.
I head back to the door, popping my head around the corner to find Nelson standing in the same spot as yesterday. “I’m going to need an extra five minutes to fix his knuckles,” I don’t wait for a response, closing the door as quickly as I opened it. This whole time Jimmy watches as I cross the room from his chair to the door to the cabinet with disinfectants and bandages then back to his chair.
“You don’t need to do that,” he says, but I’ve already opened the package.
I ignore him. “Our time is limited. Give me your hand and tell me about Larry,” my voice is quiet but firm. My palm already expectantly held out. I’ll write down the details later.
He hesitantly places his heavy hand into mine. It's warm and large, completely engulfing my own. His palms are calloused from hours of weightlifting. I can feel his eyes burn into me as I examine his knuckles. I move his hand, bending his joints to see how they react.
“Straighten your fingers,” I direct him. I feel up and down each one, lightly pressing my thumb and index finger into his skin, checking for any breaks. “Does this hurt?”
“No,” he swallows.
“Okay, make a fist please,” Jimmy wordlessly obeys. I scan the area for fresh cracks in the skin. There are a few, but nothing that should cause him much trouble. I can’t send him back with ice for the swelling, but it should go down by tomorrow. If not, I might have to send him for scans. “Open your hand again,” as he does, I prepare the disinfectant, using the same type of wipe as I do for his injection. “How did you get Larry to talk to you?”
“I couldn’t, for a while. But he was in the TV room when that guy came and changed the channel and I took him out for it. He thought I was standing up for them.”
“Is that what you told him?”
“No, but that didn’t stop him from thinking it,” he pauses, “He asked about what I drove yet didn’t seem to care about my answer. It was just a way for him to start talking about his interest in vans. There was something about the way he said it. Like a specific memory came to mind.”
I grab his hand again before tenderly wiping his knuckles with the disinfectant. He tenses, thick fingers gently tighten around my hand in reaction to the alcohol. “He talk about his van?”
“I asked but he didn’t really have a chance to answer before an officer interrupted us,” Jimmy’s eyes aren’t on mine. They follow my hands as I reach for a topical ointment. I gingerly dab it on his skin with my middle finger. I rub the ointment into the cracks of his skin in light circular motions. It’ll help soften the skin to prevent any more splitting and allow him to heal. Jimmy’s quiet for a moment. I don’t know if he’s unsure of his next words, has nothing else to say, or is simply enjoying the quiet of my office. The only sounds are my desk fan blowing on the lowest speed and whatever background noise manages to make it through the door. This space is about as peaceful as it gets in here. I’m sitting just close enough to hear his quiet breathing. It's shallow, but when he sighs his cool breath fans against my hair.
I pull away to reach for the knuckle bandages. When I turn around, he holds his hand in the same position, waiting for my return. I slip my hand under his, my thumb resting on top of his fingers as I guide him closer for easier access. His fingers stay limp except for his thumb which lightly brushes along my skin every now and then. All the while he remains cuffed, limiting his range of motion. Cuffed or not, I feel completely safe in Jimmy’s company. He’s been nothing but kind to me. Which is more than I can say about most of my patients.
“Did he say anything else?” I ask.
“No, not really,” his voice is quiet, just above a whisper.
“How do you feel about him? About the interaction,” I press the bandage along his knuckles, wrapping it so it will move with him instead of peeling off. He’ll probably end up taking it off once he’s in his cell anyways. No one wants to be seen wearing bandages around here if they’re not seriously injured. It’s a sign of weakness.
“I wish we talked longer, but it's probably for the best we didn’t. Now he’s curious about me. I’m interesting enough for him to initiate conversation, which is more than I could say two days ago,” when I look up, his eyes are already on mine. They’re dark and clear, serious. His small win yesterday is far from where he needs to be.
“Play your cards smart, Jimmy. If you’re too eager he’ll know something’s up,” I warn him, slipping my hand away from his. He glances down at his hand, turning it back and forth to check out my work.
“I know.”
“I know you do. Lift your shirt.”
He leans back into the chair, pulling his shirt up just enough so I have access to his lower stomach. He once again looks away as I finish disinfecting the area. I’m fast at my job. He barely has time to flinch by the time I’m throwing everything away.
“Jimmy?” I walk towards him from the corner of the room where my desk sits. I wait until his eyes are on mine.
“Yeah?”
“It’s a good start,” I hold his gaze for what feels like a long time. This work is important. He knows that just as much as I do, yet I still feel the need to emphasize it. When he doesn’t reply I call for Nelson. He’s in the room in less than a second, scared something’s wrong. “Thanks, Nelson, I’ll see you tomorrow.”
“I’m off ‘til the weekend, but I’ll see you next week,” his gruff voice fills the room.
“Next week then,” I mumble, taking a seat at my desk.
I open a new file on Larry Hall, my fingers flying across the keyboard, the warmth of Jimmy’s hand on the back of my mind.

Okay folks, I’m stuck at home with Covid. I haven’t read a new Larry fic in years .
So let’s go, tell me which one I should read (maybe from the last 2-3 years?)
Tumblr media
UPDATE WITH LINKS :
(thank you all for the recs ! I’ll update as long as I get them)
- Of Mates and Men :  In which, Louis and Harry meet as best men for their best friends' wedding... well... sort of. Or, the one where Harry's just moved back from New York and Louis doesn't believe in romance. Or, I guess... the one where Zayn and Liam are getting married.
- Darling, so it goes : Harry Styles is a world-famous actor at the height of his career but a personal low point when he meets His Serene Highness Prince Louis of Monaco by chance. He doesn’t think they’ll ever see each other again, but after striking up a correspondence, it turns out they have more in common than he thought. Then they start to fall for each other. Louis is different from anyone Harry has dated before and their relationship moves fast as Harry realizes he’s ready for a change. Soon Harry finds himself adapting to an entirely new life, in a country where he doesn’t know the rules, the customs, even the language. Harry is used to people underestimating him, and he’s more determined than ever to prove them wrong. He just needs Louis to meet him halfway.               Grace Kelly AU.
- love is a word, you gave it a name : After two decades in brutal show business, Louis Tomlinson is trying to restore his tranquility of mind in the peace of Northern Europe where the sun barely sets, Maria’s bar is always open, and young Harry has an irresistible spark in his eyes.
- Bloodsport :   The Unbelievers Story from Harry’s point of view.
- Alien Roadtrip! : roadtrip with desert feelings, too much snack food, and empty motels. Harry is definitely absolutely not an alien. That would be ridiculous.
- Ace of Spades  : Living as a sheltered omega in a farming village has not prepared Harry for life aboard the most notorious pirate ship to sail the Atlantic.Or Louis is a pirate, Harry is his captive, and no one is who they say they are.
- Beautiful War  : An FBI-Clairvoyant AU
-  Ever Since I Tried Your Way : In 1949 Harry left his bride at the altar, running away from the only life he'd known. When a kindhearted farmer offers him a ride in his truck and a place to sleep the two find themselves inexplicably drawn together. Isolated on Louis' farm with nobody but a field of dairy cows to intrude, the men are finally able to explore the parts of themselves they've spent their lives hiding away.
- Truebonds  : Or the one where Louis is an omega in need, Harry is an alpha for hire, and destiny presents them with a fate they never saw coming.
- Full Moon Dreaming : Every month, Full Moon Dreaming reveals a person’s soulmate. Sometimes it’s an object or a place, or for the lucky ones, the love of their life.Louis has given up hope of dreaming of a person, resigned to living a life devoid of that kind of all-consuming love for another and receiving the same in return. But when a new neighbour descends on Louis’ beloved Hanson Bay and moves into the other beach house, could all that be about to change?
- No Hold to Hold Onto : Injured after being thrown from a bronc, Harry doesn’t know if he’ll ever compete again. His only hope is a man called Tommo, a world champion rider who retired at the top of his game. When Harry goes looking for help learning a new way to rope and ride, the last thing he expects to find is love.
- All Your Mates Are Here  : Like every werewolf does when they get to a new town, Harry joined one of the many local packs when he started university. Now, three years into his program, he's hit with the news that his pack is giving up, going their separate ways. In the wake of the holidays, the three single wolves from the Majestic pack are pointed in the direction of a new pack to join; one that's got struggles of its own.A new pack, a new house, and two new roommates with personal space issues... Plus exams, of course.
- In A Twinkling : Featuring Niall and Liam as Louis’ childhood friends, Harry as the painfully perfect man of Louis’ dreams, Zayn as Harry’s very protective best mate, Louis’ Nan as a well-meaning matchmaker, and Louis as a guy who thinks he’s happy with his life, until a certain someone shows him what he’s been missing.
- Nothing But You On My Mind  : Louis Tomlinson is a PR manager hired to improve the image of royal bad-boy Prince Harry Styles. Unfortunately for him, that means being faced with the Prince's constant innuendos, incessant dirty jokes, and relentless flirting. Louis just wants to make it to Princess Gemma's coronation; once she's crowned Queen, his contract is up and he never has to see the Prince again.
- From Dust to Lust  : From the moment Louis set eyes on the gorgeous stranger across the airport terminal, he knew the guy was trouble, which was the last thing he wanted. He wouldn’t have thought spending two days cooped up in a car travelling from the Australian Outback to the East Coast would change his mind. It’s funny how things work out.OR the one where Louis and Harry are fly-in-fly-out mine workers, coincidences are totally a thing, karaoke is an underrated form of foreplay, and the universe most definitely works in mysterious ways.
- Tired Tired Sea     : As a B&B owner on the most remote of all the British Isles, Louis Tomlinson is used to spending the coldest half of the year in complete isolation, with his dog and the sea as sole companions. Until, one day, a mysterious stranger on a quest to rebuild himself rents a room for the winter.

I haven’t heard about michael telling larries to back off in 2022, can you share what happened?
Larries tracked down a man that was in one of Michael’s birthday photos (with a caption of “I love you man” or something like that) and searched their entire social media accounts, trying to FBI Larrie prove that Michael was gay and in a relationship with this friend. It got bad enough in Michael’s Twitter and Instagram comments that Michael had to make a written statement saying whom he saw and whom he was with was none of any stranger’s damn business.
Those Larries are still in the Tumblr Larrie fandom and still FBI-ing (stalking) private accounts and publishing Louis’ locations, still publishing music and lyric leaks, etc.

1. List of works published this year:
I Choose You
when we're finished saying nothing
count me in
too into you
routine surveillance
you wanna be on top?
Suddenly Last Summer
if i'm being honest
it's a holidate
Red
2. Work you are most proud of (and why):
Suddenly Last Summer. I let myself let go and have fun and write exactly what I wanted, and I love the way it turned out.
3. Work you are least proud of (and why):
I hate this questionnnn
4. A favorite excerpt of your writing:
I love this bit from Red, the fic I wrote for @crinkle-eyed-boo birthday:
When Harry turns his head to bite Louis’ earlobe, Louis buries his face in Harry’s hair, breathing him in. He detects a faint whiff of smoke, and frowns.
“Did you smoke?”
Harry presses his face into Louis’ neck, nodding.
“Oh, no,” Louis says, rubbing a soothing hand over Harry’s bare back. “I know you hate to smoke without me.”
Louis barely hears the whisper as Harry says, “I’m sorry,” since he doesn’t bother to lift his lips from Louis’ skin. But then Harry says it again, louder, following it with a kiss against Louis’ neck. And then again, over and over, leaving apologies and kisses against Louis’ skin like he wants them to stay, as permanent as the ink of their tattoos. Louis sags against the wall, trusting Harry to hold his weight, as the relief finally hits him. Harry hates apologizing, even when he knows he’s wrong. And Louis can’t even remember who was wrong, and more than that, he doesn’t care. He just wants Harry back. He doesn’t need Harry to beg, and it feels like that’s exactly what he’s doing right now.
“Baby,” Louis says at last. “Stop, stop it. I’m sorry.”
A tear slips down Louis’ neck, and he wrinkles his brow in confusion. He hasn’t cried in several minutes, a record for him today, if not every day since the breakup. But then a sob wracks Harry’s body, his grip tightening on Louis as his shoulders shake.
“Oh, baby,” Louis says, petting Harry’s hair. “No, baby, I’m sorry. Please don’t cry.”
“I just missed you,” Harry chokes out. When he draws back, it’s Louis’ turn to smooth away his tears. “I missed you so fucking much, Lou.”
“I missed you, too,” Louis says, resting his forehead against Harry’s. “We’ve never been this stupid before, have we?”
5. Share or describe a favorite review you received:
I really loved getting both @kingsofeverything and @allwaswell16 reactions to Suddenly Last Summer! Lauren theorized via voice note and I was glued to my email while Anitra commented as she read, and it all just felt really good!
6. A time when writing was really, really hard:
I'm not going to lie, writing was not that hard this year. I think I was just picking things I really wanted to write for myself. And it was a good coping mechanism when things were hard in my personal life. But honestly, it kind of feels like dumb luck because I've definitely had my share of writing block.
7. A scene or character you wrote that surprised you:
I don't know where the itch to write dark Harry in routine surveillance came from!! That took me by surprise, and I loved doing it.
8. How did you grow as a writer this year:
I think just by writing for myself. I always wish I had different stats on my fics, but I can't write with trying to please people in mind.
9. How do you hope to grow next year:
I don't know! Keep writing for myself and being the weirdo who likes to do lots of different things.
10. Who was your greatest positive influence this year as a writer (could be another writer or beta or cheerleader or muse etc etc):
I am fortunate to have a lot of support!! This year, I really noticed the lovely comments I was getting from @nouies <3
11. Anything from your real life show up in your writing this year:
Yes! Just about everything that the cat does in if i'm being honest has been done by one of my new cats. It's my love letter to them.
12. Any new wisdom you can share with other writers:
I don't think I have much new wisdom. I always say pay attention to the writing advice that works for you, and ignore the rest. I think telling a story and making people feel something matters more than the technique, but I also say that as someone who has spent a lot of time on technique so don't listen to me if you don't want to!
13. Any projects you’re looking forward to starting (or finishing) in the new year:
I want to write a girl direction When Harry Met Sally AU and make it VERY GAY and I'm excited about it!!
14. Tag three writers whose answers you’d like to read. ;)
@neondiamond @homosociallyyours @absoloutenonsense
*All answers should be about works published in 2023

A Georgia man was sentenced to 240 months in prison after he was charged with shooting into two convenience stores in an attempt to kill Black and Arab people, according to the Department of Justice.
Court records say Larry Edward Foxworth, 48, fired numerous rounds from a Glock pistol through a window and door of a gas station convenience store located in Jonesboro, Georgia in July of 2021. He used the same weapon to fire into another convenience store nearby just minutes later. No one was injured in either shooting despite the store being occupied.
Foxworth was arrested shortly after the second attack. He admitted to police that he hoped to kill his targets.
"Foxworth used a firearm to commit a brazen and heinous hate crime," said U.S. Attorney Ryan K. Buchanan for the Northern District of Georgia.
"He fired repeatedly into convenience stores in his effort to kill those inside based solely on the color of their skin. This abhorrent act of violence and intimidation left the victims, their families, and the community traumatized, and merits the prison sentence Foxworth received. The Department of Justice and our federal law enforcement partners will continue to vigorously prosecute hate crimes."
“Hopefully this lengthy sentence proves that the FBI will not tolerate intimidation and violence against anyone because of their race or ethnicity,” said Special Agent in Charge Keri Farley of FBI Atlanta Field Office. “The FBI’s Civil Rights Program will continue to use every resource available to ensure criminals, like Foxworth, that commit bias-motivated violent crimes are held accountable and removed from our streets.”

Sounds About White: Oklahoma Sheriff Says Recording Of Officials Discussing Killing Reporters Was Illegal
Denver Sean
Tumblr media
A southeastern Oklahoma sheriff’s office says the recording in which the sheriff and others are reportedly heard discussing killing two journalists was illegal and predicted felony charges will be filed.
via Huffington Post:
A statement on the sheriff’s office Facebook page, the first public statement since the comments by Sheriff Kevin Clardy and others were reported by the McCurtain Gazette-News, does not address the recorded comments about killing journalists and hanging Black people, but calls the situation “complex” and one “we regret having to address.”
The statement calls the past 72 hours “amongst the most difficult and disruptive in recent memory” and says the recording was altered and involves many victims.
“There is and has been an ongoing investigation into multiple, significant violation(s) of the Oklahoma Security of Communications Act … which states that it is illegal to secretly record a conversation in which you are not involved and do not have the consent of at least one of the involved parties,” according to the statement.
Joey Senat, a journalism professor at Oklahoma State University, said under Oklahoma law, the recording would be legal if it were obtained in a place where the officials being recorded did not have a reasonable expectation of privacy.
Bruce Willingham, the longtime publisher of the McCurtain Gazette-News, said the recording was made March 6 when he left a voice-activated recorder inside the room after a county commissioner’s meeting because he suspected the group was continuing to conduct county business after the meeting had ended in violation of the state’s Open Meeting Act.
Willingham said he twice spoke with his attorneys to be sure he was doing nothing illegal.
The newspaper released portions of the recording in which Clardy, sheriff’s Capt. Alicia Manning and District 2 County Commissioner Mark Jennings appear to discuss Bruce and Chris Willingham, a reporter for the newspaper who is Bruce Willingham’s son. Jennings tells Clardy and Manning “I know where two deep holes are dug if you ever need them,” and the sheriff responded, “I’ve got an excavator.”
Jennings also reportedly says he’s known “two or three hit men” in Louisiana, adding “they’re very quiet guys.”
In the recording, Jennings also appears to complain about not being able to hang Black people, saying: “They got more rights than we got.”
Jail Administrator Larry Hendrix was also present during the conversation.
The Associated Press could not immediately verify the authenticity of the recording. None of the four have returned telephone calls or emails from The Associated Press.
A spokesperson for the FBI’s office in Oklahoma City said the agency’s policy is not to confirm or deny any ongoing investigation. Phil Bacharach, a spokesperson for Oklahoma Attorney General Gentner Drummond, said the agency had received an audio recording and is investigating the incident, but declined to comment further.
Oklahoma Gov. Kevin Stitt and state Rep. Eddy Dempsey, a Republican who represents the area, have called for Clardy, Manning, Jennings and Hendrix to resign.
More than 100 people gathered outside the McCurtain County Courthouse in Idabel on Monday, with many of them calling for the sheriff and other county officials to resign.
The sheriff’s office statement said there have been “a large number of threats of violence including death threats” against unspecified county employees, officials, their families and friends since the conversation was first reported.
The statement said the sheriff’s office will issue news releases until its investigation concludes “and findings are forwarded to the appropriate authorities for felony charges to be filed on those involved.”
This is upsetting, but not surprising.

Hi! I'm curious about that f/f book written and published in the late '80s you just mentioned. Can I ask you what its title is?
Heyo! It was Night Lights by Bonnie Shrewsbury Arthur.
I didn't remember ever getting it so I was looking it up online and there's very little info to be found. In fact, one of the only non-bookstore results was a mention in a completely unrelated article, one of those chatty pieces where the writer really wants to establish atmosphere. Apparently a bookstore owner's mother wanted him to raise the price of the autographed version but then she started to read it herself and didn't like it. :x
But anyway, that tone I mentioned, it's present in a lot of these older books, Price of Salt, Curious Wine, this matter of fact awareness of heavy ass consequences, a layer as menacing as any horror. The threat of someone finding out and people being arrested, fired, disowned, their children taken away, or much worse. And these are often just plain romances!
In this book alone, which I've only read some of, a peripheral character committed suicide and one of the main characters, a self-admitted lesbian, thought she could straighten herself out by getting married to a man and having kids. Today, we would react poorly to those tropes, right--well, maybe lesbians did then too, but not with the realistic expectation of more, not with the ability to actually do or say anything about it instead of complaining to a very select group of trusted friends.
When I started reading f/f fic, a lot of the classics were from much earlier, and you could see a similar carefulness there, especially the ones that departed from their source media's fantasy/scifi worlds and delved into the real life queer culture of the time. Different clothes, neighborhoods, family often out of the picture. It's been amazing to see the shift in media and real life since but I also get why people feel we've lost some things too.
It's interesting, re: For All Mankind, if you keep all this in mind, then Larry's behavior becomes much more understandable. I mean, it technically is anyway, but except for the ep where they're interrogated by the FBI, there's more of a modern complacency to it, like how bad could it be, sure there'll be some muttering but they'll be fine. As they usually are, right, in the bulk of recent coming out stories, the reactions are either immediately loving, or shocked/disapproving but eventually loving. Not that that's bad, obviously! It just creates an odd dissonance. Anyway, there'll be consequences sure enough in the next ep. :x
