Hi! First of all, your blog is absolutely wonderful! I wish there were a billion more like it for all pairings and fandoms lol. Do you know of any other good supernatural rec blogs?

As long as there were destiel fics, there were also dedicated fic reccers. Some stayed with fandom longer, some moved on faster, so, now we have a mix of active blogs and archived blogs. And here's the part where I also tell you--I've finished Little Quirks of Fate - HMGfanfic - The Magicians (TV) [Archive of Our Own] Just so amazing and good, I can't even❤️Thanks ever so, @hmgfanfic ❤️❤️❤️

48. This fic is just so sweet. It dives into that moment when Eliot asks about the Rainbow Bridge. I have a lot of feelings about Eliot and his pets. And the relationship between Eliot and Quentin in this fic is just so beautiful. I love everything about this. Thank you, @wolfnprey ❤️

There's a Land That I Heard of Once in a Lullaby - UisceOneLove - The Magicians (TV) [Archive of Our Own]

49. This is so beautiful...a Queliot first date that heals everything...snowfall...their love for each other...so perfect. It's short so I don't want to spoil, but--that smile. They're both so true to character. Thank you, @inmediasres-1 ❤️

50. This fic is just so amazing, it skyrocketed to the list of some of my fav fic of all time. There's just SO MUCH here. So much of Eliot and Quentin growing their love together the way they should have gotten the chance to. Yet echoes of other lives. Everyone's so well drawn, especially Eliot, and I love the way Margo is there for him. The angst in the middle is worth it to get to the beautiful end. I don't even have any words except thank you, @nellie-elizabeth❤️

So, I shall be back someday with more fic recs. Meanwhile I will still be reading and enjoying your fanworks; thank you so much for making them. But it may be a while before I have time to take on another public reading list. I'm so glad I got to do this one, though! Just in time for spring ❤️

this is purely out of curiosity and i don't want to send hate your way, but do you ship mob and reigen? and if so, why?

I do, yeah. An ex-friend of mine asked me the exact same question (just more... harshly I think and with what I assumed was prejudice) before they decided to part our ways and I could never properly answer them because I was so stressed by the situation, it was hard to gather my thoughts. So I'll do my best to explain here, hopefully to make myself understood better.

Sorry if this gets lenghty >_< I'll just put a readmore right here.

I think the biggest reason for why I like them is their canon relationship that has been explored in the series already quite thoroughly - that they have changed eachother, helped eachother grow and one wouldn't be the person they are without the other. I think most of us understand the depth of it. Reigen is Mob's teacher and friend, someone like an older brother. There surely is a strong bond between them and they've seen each other at their best and worst and still acknowledged and accepted eachother's flaws. They trust eachother, they would give their life for eachother even (at least Reigen would, he almost did in the finale after all). And I do think that they love eachother but in a way that isn't actually romantic in canon. I'm perfectly capable of realizing that and I value it a lot both in the series and in fanworks (one of my fav works of fanfiction is about exactly that).

It was my curiosity that made me search up a ship fic of them, I was just confused why people ship them in the first place and whether it can be good and I found myself enjoying it a lot (to my surprise). It was set into the future, and dealt with some serious topics like loss and acceptance, it was kind of bittersweet. Then I felt that maybe it was just slightly ooc because all of the serirei fics I was busy reading depicted Reigen slightly different. Nontheless, I had the other ship on my mind then so I never really dived into Mob/Reigen, but it changed my perspective on them a lot.

And at some point into all this I realized, why not? Why can't I haz 2 cookies? (god im sorry that was terrible sfjgsdkj). What I mean is that the buildup canon offers can be taken further - more of their relationship can be explored in terms of new tropes, sometimes romantic too.

On a personal note I'll just add that I'm rather picky about them and tend to stick to fluff, hurt/comfort and slow slow burns. And I like them most post-canon, a few years into the future. It turns out that it all depends on how they're portrayed for me to like them anyways. I talked on here recently about a work that really had it all and portrayed their relationship in a very satisfying and mature way, with all the complicated feelings, it felt very realistic, especially on Reigen's side. So if anyone wants, here's a rec from me again -> in my dreams (I seem to be more honest) on ao3, just because I think it has all that I like about the ship.

I think that this is the whole point of fanworks - to kind of look further and have fun with it, to see "what if?". Even if it's something sort of.. taboo I guess? Because you get to take it apart in a fictional dimension (if that makes sense). And I completely understand if this is something that can ick some people out or that someone doesn't want to ruin their perception of the characters' relationship. That's totally fine by me and I'm not going to force anyone into liking the ship of course. And there are definitely tropes and tags I really don't want to look into - not everything is for me either.

And I think this goes without saying but I'll add it here anyways: what I like to see in fiction doesn't mean I would like or encourage anyone to do the same thing in real life! It's just interesting to explore from a safe distance where no one can get hurt.

hello! ok 1. i love your writing <3 found you from ao3. amazing work *round of applause* 2. i wanted to know how you recommend finding fics / fic recs or promoting your own work? i have heard a lot of ppl say that tumblr doesn’t rly discuss fanworks like they used to and most of that discussion (esp with writing) has moved to discord but i feel like from an outside perspective its hard to stumble upon unless you have friends in the server? idk just wanted to get your thoughts :) have a lovely day!

ive been sitting here on this one all day like,

but to answer your questions, ill do it in 2 parts: one for fic recs and the other for fic promos.

theres a couple different ways i look for fics, and im sure both of these are the most common, but the first is using ao3's filter system. i can pare down any particular thing im looking for in a fic with the filter system ao3 runs on, and the tag wranglers (bless them) have made sure that even the vaguely worded tags end up where they need to be under the larger umbrella tag its associated with. you can also peruse the bookmarks of authors on ao3 in their profile and filter those fics down to specific fandoms or pairings or even timeframes it was written!

the second is a combination of using friends recommendations- publically or in private servers- and fic recs on tumblr, usually thru the ship tag (if im following the tag, and if the author chose to promote their fic on tumblr, or a fic rec blog promotes it as some fandoms do)

it also depends on how large the fandom is when you come into it, and what specifically you are looking for, but if you have friends in that fandom who keep bookmarks of their fav fics or know of ones youd enjoy, id recommend going to them if the tag system isnt providing quite what you're after, as id trust a friend over anything else (word of mouth literally is the best promo)

there are also sometimes fic rec blogs, who's entire modus operandi is promoting works at large, so following a few of those (if there are any) can help bring new content to your door as well

as for promoting your own work, you really kind of have the world before you. make a link post on tumblr with a similar tagline to the summary and tag it accordingly. share the link in discord with friends or in fandom spaces. share the link on twitter and tag it so it gets seen. ao3 is not a social media website, so as long as you are the most recent post in the tag, youll always be at the top. theres no algorithms there like there are on other socmed platforms, so really the choice is up to you how and where you want to promote it! reblog the link as many times as you want! its up to you!

and youre not entirely wrong that discussion of fanworks doesn't take place on tumblr anymore, but it really depends on the fandom youre in. i follow several authors and fic rec blogs for one fandom who do regular fic promos of other writers works and gush about them, but in the way that youll see a blurb in the jacket cover of a book. its really just to keep the content coming back to the top here, and helps bring to the surface fics that didnt get a lot of readers in the first run, perhaps bc its an older work or a lesser known pairing.

discussion about fandom works themselves has turned private namely for the sake of reducing drama and hurt feelings in public spaces, and i dont blame them. ive been in ficbook clubs on private servers that were some of the best times ive ever had bc we were allowed to talk freely about an authors work without airing our opinions out for all the world to see, and frankly i much prefer that style of discussion over public ones, but thats me and i cant speak for everyone.

theres also just been a steady shift away from author engagement on socmed bc of how easy it is for them to get hit by negativity there. the culture just isnt the same as it used to be for fic writers as it was in the last decade. hell, in the last year alone, youd be hard pressed to find an author who hasnt experienced some kind of harassment over the course of their career on socmed, if we're being honest. my honest advice to you is: if youre following an author you like, and u want to know more about how they use their creative process, ask them! they may not all answer these days, but it doesnt hurt to try! just be polite, thats all anyone can hope for.

And to answer your question:

1.) the fandom is pretty active on twitter. Not so much in the past 1-2 months but while the show was airing, fanworks were rampant if you knew where to look. Also, we hosted a Thornute week for the first time since 2019 and the event was so popular that even Yukimura retweeted several artworks!

You can find them under the hashtag #thornuteweek23 on twitter.

We also had an NSFW thornute weeked, I participated in that one to. It’s under the hashtag #NuteFinnWeekend on twitter. Aaaand, last but not least, we had #girlthornuteparty in october as well, with genderbent thornute artworks!

2.) I’m very picky about the fanfics I read, so I don’t have many recs. You’ve probably already read it, but I highly recommend “Neither Sword, nor Crown” by @arahir and “All the King’s Men: The Englishman” by @ dishrag and @nidsk, although the latter is unfortunately unfinished.

3.) I have a lot of fanart I like, I retweet a lot of thornute stuff on twitter, and I usually retweet my favourites again and again from time to time. Here’s a thread of some amazing thornute artworks, but there’s so much more than this. HMU if you want me to show you some more stuff ❤️

4.) As for the topic of the doujin, I’ve been meaning to draw one for the longest time, but I don’t trust my skills enough to do it, haha. But I’m writing a very much nsfw modern au fanfic!

5.) And I’ve been meaning to set up an inprnt for a while now, but my application always gets refused, so there’s that. When I finally set up a shop, I will surely post it on social media!

They all know Bellamy Blake is something else, or part something else, even if no one ever says it. It's in the way his eyes are just a little too deep, his cheekbones a little too sharp, everything about him a little bit too perfect. Everyone growing up in Arkadia knows about the Folk. They're used to recognizing them, even in their glamours, and steering clear. Bellamy isn't one. But he's half, and it's enough to make people equal parts fascinated and wary. It's enough make him something of a spectacle.

Of course, for most of Clarke's life, he's been the sort of spectacle that involves people daring each other to try to get him to tell lies (Clarke doesn't know if, like the full blooded fae, he can't or if he just likes to keep people guessing) or do small magic (he never does) when they've had a little too much to drink at parties. Most of the time, the people of Arkadia forget that Bellamy's any different from the rest of them. Until something goes wrong, and then he draws everyone's suspicious gaze. It's the way of the world, to look to place the blame in someone who is other in some way. Bellamy Blake, with his eyes that look right into you, that know you, he's other in a way that scares people.

I see you're trying to engage Nyxie, and let me just say for your own sanity - don't. I have followed her for quite some time and I have come to the conclusion that she doesn't ship Sterek at all. She detests the fandom, tries to shame and police us into doing her bidding. She detests the canon Sterek relationship, constantly expanding on how they canonically don't care for each other in the slightest and that we corrupt the story to take away from their love of Scott. She is also very 1/2

disingenuous and unable to handle valid criticism, no matter how politely and respectfully expressed. I know. She has twisted my words to suit her agenda and accuse me of the most heinous transgressions. She can’t handle people politely expressing differing opinions, because it means she cannot post them and and still claim to be lambasted by (Sterek) trolls. Personally, I cannot wait for the day that she shows her true color and that her shipping of Sterek was just a ruse to gain followers. 2/2

I’m not 100% positive these asks are from the same anon given the ½ & 2/2, but as they came in at the same time and are on the same topic I’m going to address them all at once. (It’s two different anons. See update here)

I had originally planned to just post the gifs and leave it at that, but as she called me out I decided to respond for a bit. I’m not going to say I agree with everything you accuse her of as I haven’t paid that much attention to her - only a few of athena’s interactions with her - but I do stand by the posts I’ve made so far.

On this part specifically I’m going to ask you to let it go. If she has used Sterek to get followers then it should be obvious enough to the people who care. There’s no sense in waiting for someone to change when it’s like talking to a wall and I certainly don’t have much intention to take things further when she won’t listen to any of the points I’ve made.

I have already seen and love all the gushing that Hoechlin has done over the years. I’ve reblogged quite a lot of it myself in the past and have more of it saved in my drafts/likes even if I haven’t been actively posting much in recent years.

I do detest fans telling other fans how they should fan, particularly when it comes to using SJW rhetoric to censor people and enforce their opinions as morally superior.

The one exception I make is for the trend of being an anti-fan that started to appear around TW season 3 onward as it creates just as much of a toxic environment as SJW policing. You can dislike a show or choices writers make, but fans need to understand they don’t own the show and aren’t entitled to have show creators adjust their story to the whims of the fans even if the decisions are unpopular. They are owed the same respect as fanfic writers and other authors when you find a story you initially liked but were disappointed in later chapters. Being unsatisfied with a work is where you say “I liked these aspects, but I’d change it a bit here…” and then create fanworks to reflect that.

We touch on this a bit in regards to the history of fandom in the next episode of the Teen Wolf Meta Podcast that we just recorded last night (I actually joined in again, yay!). We also discussed fanfiction and gave some fanfic recs, so you might want to check it out when it eventually gets posted (I’ll reblog it when it’s up).

hey as someone incapable to produce fan art how can i stay active in the fandom and create friendships?

Awww, hi!! :D Well, reaching out like this is already a good start!! :D Depending on how shy you are, you may want to build up to where you feel comfortable~

-Send messages to fandom people you enjoy. If you want to stay anon, you should at least try to build yourself a familiarity by making a signature for yourself! Pick a letter or number or something and end your asks with like... -L (say your fav char is Luna? >:D pick something you’ll remember, but it doesn’t have to be related to YOUR name or URL if you don’t want it to be!)

-Make posts with headcanons or writings, au ideas, things that remind you of your favs, whatever!

-And tag appropriately for how much you want it to be seen! I tag my fandom reblogs and shitposting with just #ffxv say, but if I want it to really be seen, i write out the full series title and the names of the most prominent characters and/or ships. REMEMBER THAT ONLY THE FIRST 5 TAGS WILL SHOW UP IN /TAGGED!! But also /search will (should?) notice it anywhere, so less prominent things are worth tagging after to add to exposure! Or even if you just write it within the post, if I write ‘Ign//is Sci//entia’ without the // then it would show up in search still! (and that’s why you add slashes to anti- posts or anything you don’t want to show up, for etiquette purposes lol)

-Reblog things from anyone you wanna make friends with and ramble in the tags or in response~ Engage, be polite and friendly, just try to make sure it’s gonna be fun for everyone (unless it’s the kind of post that’s inviting other conversation, y’know what I mean? read the atmosphere is all i’m saying~ and if you’re unsure, then i’d say default to rambling in your tags because then at least it doesn’t get really attached to the post but it’s there to engage with if they so choose!)

-Make whatever kind of content you can think of~ Song recs, playlists, edits, anything at all... And it doesn’t just have to be based off the canon stuff or aus you’re coming up with. Post things that remind you of your fav fanworks and tag the creators! I don’t think there’s a single one of us out there that doesn’t love that kind of thing, so if that’s *your* kind of thing, then do it!!
