I think that's a pretty good summary of what I write lol!
9. How do you find new fic to read?
AO3, mostly. I only read for a few fandoms, and I usually just filter by f/f works and exclude any ships or tags I really don't want to read. Sometimes I find fic on Tumblr, but when I'm on here, it's usually to scroll, not linger on one post for a long time.
16. What’s an AU you would love to read (or have read and loved)?
In general I prefer canon-ish fics to AUs, but I am deeply invested in the FAAFIL universe!
36. Do you visualize what you read/write?
Sometimes. A lot of what I write comes straight from canon scenes and settings, so I visualize that stuff a lot while I'm writing. But I would say that more than visualizing, I hear what's going on. Every line of dialogue I write, I hear in the voice of whoever is speaking. I hear their tone of voice, how fast of slow they're speaking, if and when they stumble over their words or backtrack, and which words they emphasize.

Summary: You help Peacemaker escape the cops after he kills a butterfly

You probably shouldn’t have been, but you were surprised to hear that Peacemaker had killed a butterfly.
Hearing Harcourt bang on your window immediately sent you into fight-or-flight mode. Your heart was beating out of your chest. Her voice shouting at you somewhat eased your nerves.
You quickly changed back into your regular clothes from your pajamas. You met with Harcourt and Adebayo in her car. You zoomed out of the motel parking lot.
You didn’t know why you needed to be there too, with the two of them they would’ve been fine. Plus you weren’t planning on fighting a cop. Amanda Waller definitely wouldn’t appreciate that.
The conversation in the car consisted of Harcourt telling Adebayo that it wasn’t safe to have other people around right now. You understood, but you knew what you did was a lonely job.
“Hey, go easy on her. She’s not used to this.” You said from the backseat.
Harcourt gave you a stern look. “She needs to be ready for whatever happens. We have a job to do, and having other people there is a disaster waiting to happen.”
By the time you had arrived at the apartment building, the cops had already gotten there.
Peacemaker was taking too long inside. Harcourt decided it would be smart to call him. She threw you her phone from the front seat.
“What?” He asked when he answered the phone.
“What are you doing? Why aren’t you down here yet?” You asked him.
“I’m getting important shit!” It sounded like he was moving around the apartment.
You sighed. “There’s a ton of cops outside the front. You’ll need to find another way out.”
“Do you see Eagly out there at all?”
“No, I don’t see your pet eagle.” Now you started to understand Harcourt and Economos’ frustration with Peacemaker.
“Just roll down the window, stick your hand outside, then crinkle a bag. He’ll think you have chips, he’ll come right out to you.”
“Chips?” Why the hell would someone feed an eagle chips?
“Shit.” Harcourt said, catching your attention. You looked out the window to see the coos start to enter the building.
“You need to get out of there right now!” You shouted into the phone.
“Fine!” Was all you heard before the tone, letting you know he’d hung up.
“He’s getting his stuff, he’ll find another way out.” You said as you passed Harcourt the phone.
“Go around back.” She instructed Adebayo.
The car pulled slowly to the back of the building. Adebayo parked by the side of the road. Your eyes searched the windows, looking for Peacemaker.
“There he is.” Adebayo pointed at the window.
Squinting, you could see a figure in red and white on a balcony. He dropped what looked like a bedsheet full of who knows what down onto a balcony below, before jumping to it.
He landed face-first into the hard concrete.
“Oh fuck!” You said, hand raising to cover your mouth.
“The next landing can’t possibly be as bad.” Adebayo commented.
He threw the bedsheet down another level and jumped again. This time he hit the railing with his stomach, then proceeded to climb onto the balcony, and just drop himself down.
“You were saying?” Harcourt said. You had to admit, even with as stoic as she was, seeing Peacemaker’s failed jumps did seem to make her feel bad.
More sirens could be heard in the distance.
“God dammit.” Harcourt sighed.
You all watched as the police all left their cars, guns out, ready to fire at Peacemaker.
Harcourt unbuckled her seat belt, reached to the backseat to grab what looked like a rifle, then turned to the both of you.
“Wait here.”
“Listen, I can help. I’m stellar with weapons and combat.” Adebayo told her, leaning over the center console.
“Cool your jets Jason Bourne. Just be ready to take off when we get back to the car.” She slammed the door before running into the patch of trees and bushes.
You leaned into the front of the car and opened the glove compartment.
“What the hell are you looking for?” She asked you, her eyebrow raised.
“Some plastic.” You figured you might as well see if you could lure Eagly to the car while you waited.
You fished out what looked like a granola bar.
“Were you planning on eating this?” You ask.
“I don’t know!” She replies, her hands gripping the steering wheel.
You quickly unwrap the bar, and drop it in her lap.
“Here, eat it now.” You sat back down in your seat and rolled your window down. You stuck your arm outside and started to crinkle the wrapper.
For a minute there was silence.
“Maybe he went home.” Adebayo said quietly.
You kept crinkling the wrapper, until you felt something sharp on your arm.
“Fuck!” You pulled your arm back in the car, Eagly following it close behind.
He flew past your head, and landed in the seat next to you. He cocked his head to the side, waiting for the food you enticed him with. Adebayo gave you the granola bar. You started picking small pieces off of it, and feeding them to Eagly. He seemed to like it.
Shots could be heard from the apartment building, causing you to quickly look out the window. One by one the cops dropped to the ground. Harcourt popped out from the woodsy area, and bolted back into the car.
“You found the bird?” She asked, slightly out of breath.
“Yeah.” You replied.
Peacemaker jumped off the last ledge, with his makeshift sack, and started running to the car. There was a woman a couple stories up, shouting at him. She pulled out her gun and started shooting.
He was getting closer to the car, but one of the gunshots hit the back window, causing it to shatter.
“Shit! Should I take off?” Adebayo screamed.
“No! He’s not fucking here yet!” Harcourt shouted back.
As Peacemaker got closer to the car, he raised his fingers to his mouth, and let out a loud whistle. Eagly immediately looked to the window, and cocked his head to the side.
“He’s here! Get in the car!” You shouted out to him.
He swung the door open, and hopped in the car.
“What are you waiting for? Go!” He shouted.
Adebayo slammed on the gas, and the car took off down the street.
“That thing better not shit back there.” Harcourt said, glaring at Peacemaker.
“You can’t house-train an eagle dude. Not without stealing it’s soul.” He said, shaking his head.
You scooted further away from the eagle that occupied the space between the two of you.
Adebayo looked over at Harcourt, then in the rearview mirror at you. A wide grin broke out on her face. She started cheering, hitting the steering wheel with her hands. You laughed quietly to yourself, and even Harcourt cracked a small smile.
Peacemaker smiled to himself and shook his head. Adebayo’s cheering must’ve caused Eagly to want to join in, because soon he was creating a screeching noise that was way too loud to be in a car. You covered your ears, but couldn’t help the smile that spread on your face.
Maybe this team wouldn’t be so bad after all.
The next day for lunch you decided to go back to Fennel Fields. The food was decent, and of course it had nothing to do with the fact that you were hoping to see the cute bus boy there again.
The restaurant wasn’t too busy. There were people scattered here and there at various tables. You opened the menu, and started to re-read its contents, when something was set down loudly on top of your table.
Sitting there was a large basket, full of dirty dishes and glasses, and standing next to it was the bus boy.
Getting a closer look at him you noticed his bright green eyes that sat behind thick aviator glasses. He had dark curls peeking out from under his hat. And of course, he was sporting the same lopsided grin that he had when you went to dinner.
“Hi.” You said.
“Hi.” He replied. Then, an awkward silence.
“Did you need something?” You ask him slowly. You didn’t mind his company, but it was rather odd that be actually approached you.
“So, you know Peacemaker?” He asked, raising an eyebrow.
“Yeah, I guess I do.” You shrugged.
“He’s pretty cool, right?” Great. He was a Peacemaker fanboy.
“He’s something all right.” You sighed.
“Yeah, he’s cool. He’s pretty popular too though. He’s got a lot of friends it seems. But only one best friend.” He said.
His words sounded like he was trying to be defensive, but he was still grinning at you.
“Really? Who’s his best friend?” You asked, crossing your arms over your chest and raising an eyebrow at him.
“Vigilante, of course.”
You’d heard of Vigilante, briefly. He was someone who would seek out people breaking the law, then kill them. He wasn’t anything big enough for you to have to worry about tracking down and arresting.
“Okay.” You let out a small laugh. “I’m Y/n.” You held your hand out for him to shake.
“Adrian.” He moved to shake your hand, but quickly wiped it off on his apron before taking yours.
His hand was warm in yours. You held each other’s hands for too long, pulling apart only when someone shouted from the back.
“Hey! Adrian! The hell are you doing?”
“Nothing! I’m going!” He looked back at you.
“It was nice to meet you Adrian.” You said.
“You too.” He gave you a smile, before taking his basket, and starting to head back into the back room.
He stopped walking, and jogged back over to your table.
“Hey, don’t order the ravioli. I had some the other night and it almost killed me.” He told you.
You laughed softly. “Okay, sure thing Adrian.”

9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
OF COURSE I DO!!! Lately, I have been writing a lot of smut because menopause has turned me into a 24/7 horny gay. All my fics are Femslash and I also write F/F/F threesomes because I have multiple OT3s 😇
10. Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you've written?
I have written crossovers in the past! Two of my favourites are a TAH x Addams Family one : Beyond Belief: When Family Calls and a CM x Community crossover where Emily and Frankie Dart are estranged twins: Words Left Unsaid
11. Have you ever had a fiction stolen?
Not so much stolen, as I've seen parts of my own personal fanon lore being used in other fics sometimes. Which I find endearing. Me and @otahkoapisiakii have so many Jemily HCs that we often share the same background details in our fics and then, sometimes, readers see these things and mistakenly think they're canon.
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
Yep! I've had a few fics translated into other languages. I think one was translated to Polish and another to Mandarin. Also, I think there's one in German somewhere too.
I LOVE when people ask to translate my works! It's such an honour.
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
TONS. I think me and @otahkoapisiakii (Phoenix_falls on AO3) have about 6 or 7 we wrote together.
14. What's your all-time favorite ship?
That's an impossible question. My longest loved OTP will always be MSR. My most written OTP is JJ/Emily. My current favourite ships are JJ/Tara & Tara/Rebecca.
15. What's a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
When I retired from writing in 2015, I left behind a WIP (To Catch an Unsub). When I came back last year, I vowed to try and finish it. I re-wrote a lot of what had already been posted and managed a new chapter even -- but after nearly eight years, my writing style now is far different than when I started out in 2015. So I tied up the cliff-hanger and marked it as complete, because I know my heart isn't in it to continue that one.
16. What are your writing strengths?
I have a really good understanding of the characters, I know what makes them tick, their motives, their insecurities and I think that makes them feel more authentic in my works.
I'm also a very fast writer. Both physically (my typing speed is absurd), but also just being able to bang out 10k in a day when I have an idea.
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
NUMBERS AND SELF-IMPOSED RULES! I used to have this thing (I still struggle with it, but less so now) where I'd be like 'Every one-shot or chapter can't be more than 4k words'. Or if it's a multi-chap fic it has to be at least x amount of words minimum.
When I started writing completely for myself, those rules stopped holding me back. Now, I write until I'm done writing. Thus why Fooled Around (and Fell in Love) - Part 3 is going to be around 200k long when it's done.
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?
If I use another language, it's usually French because I at least speak a bit of it and don't have to use Google translate or other horrible tools that butcher nuance.
I have a Spanish speaking character in Part 3 and that made me really have to dig out my limited Spanish speaking skills for her scenes. Which are probably grating to fluent speakers (apologies!)
I think the best thing you can do if you want to use a language you don't speak is to talk to people who do speak it. It helps make the dialogue more genuine.
19. First fandom you wrote for?
Bones! During the WGA 2007 strike, I decided to fill the gap of TV hiatus with my own story. I wrote 'She Was My First' (Angela/Brennan) and posted it to LiveJournal (where I was in tons of Bones groups).
Since then, I ported it to AO3 around 2014. And now, it's the most read Angela/Brennan fic on there.
Fun Fact: Someone randomly leaving a comment on this fic last year was the reason I came back to writing!!
20. Favorite fic you've ever written?
I get this question a lot and I think my answer always changes because I love different fics for different reasons. So here are some of my top ones:

Excited to finally show this off!!
My very own printed version of Fooled Around (and Fell in Love) - Part 1. This has been a project I've been working on for a couple of months and I'm so happy with how it's turned out.
Doom Them helped me get started with Adobe InDesign, then I typeset and formatted the book myself. Also designed the cover too, using art by the incredible @artcake.
I can't wait to get the other two parts of the series designed so I can have the full set on my bookshelf 🥰

Today's Listening: 'Coming Out Pod' - Ep. 187: Lauren Ludwig (REDUX) (Uh, expect random brain dumps as I explore this podcast because it's so, so good and I have a lot of thoughts!)
Incredible (an important) discussions of bisexuality and polyamory. For anyone who has trouble understanding polyamory and ethical non-monogamy -- I highly recommend listening to this episode.
The thing that made me feel impossibly seen was when Lauren spoke about their past habit of cheating in long-term relationships. When you grow up in a world where 'monogamy' is the expectation, realising you have feelings for someone other than your partner can be so scary and confusing.
I only realised I was polyamorous about eight years ago and now, I couldn't fathom hiding that part of my identity.
One of the major reasons I wrote 'Fooled Around (and Fell in Love)' was because I hadn't come across any fanfics that explored polyamory, outside of just threesomes (which aren't usually polyam anyway). It's become such an important series to me and all I can hope is that I might help demystify polyamory to some readers (or even more so, maybe, help some people realise they are polyam).

So I'm reading Fooled Around (and Fell in Love) - Part 3 for the first time since finishing it in early December. And let me tell you, the way that so much of it suddenly mirrors what's going on currently in life is WILD. Stuff I absolutely never could have predicted four months ago!
I keep sending paragraphs to @otahkoapisiakii in shock. Did writing this fic manifest these things, or does fic imitate life, imitates fic? 🤔
Either way, I am pulling such a different understanding out of this story right now. I love it so much.

Fooled Around (and Fell in Love) - PART 3
Buying a house to remodel means big changes for the throuple. Tara transfers out of the BAU to focus on the renovation, which means she's spending most of her time with her general contractor, Beck. (Who she definitely doesn't have a crush on...)
Tara's position at the BAU is filled by Agent Elle Greenaway, who JJ feels is completely closed-off and arrogant. She's convinced Elle is hiding something, but can she get through her dislike of this new agent so they can find a way to work together?
Meanwhile, Emily is doing her best to keep up with all the interruptions going on in her life and her relationship, but juggling her partners, her job, and the house renovation begins to take a toll on her.

To be gentle with myself and in an attempt to work through my self-critiques about Part 3, I've spent this week going through and editing the chapters I already have written (that haven't been posted).
Usually, I just write new chapters and they don't get edited until right before they get posted each Friday. But with this method of editing them all one after the other, I've been able to wrap my head around the story again and reel in rouge threads that were irking me. Plots that weren't quite going as I wanted have been re-worked and fixed.
As gruelling as this monster fic has been to write, I will say, I truly am proud of it. This whole series is such a passion project. What's more fun than queer polyamory with a dash of rom-com hijinks??
Fooled Around (and Fell in Love) was the fic that brought me out of a seven year hiatus and it continues to surprise me a year later as I'm 160k into the THIRD instalment of the series.
Sometimes, taking a step back to breathe and look at the bigger picture really helps ground and humble me. In one year, this story went from what was supposed to be a scene-for-scene Jemily re-make of 'Imagine Me and You' to an incredibly beautiful story of queer joy, polyamory, and found family. (We need more fics with healthy polyam!)
I'm incredibly grateful to everyone who's read this series and left support on it. As with any self-indulgent passion project, it's always a delight when other people find it enjoyable too.

Keep getting upset at myself for not posting any new fic in weeks... Then realise I've been working on Part 3 nonstop and I haven't even started posting it and it's already my FIFTH longest fic.
And its not even halfway done 😂
