a while back i made a post (that of course i now won't be able to find) that was like, two really popular (complementary!) fallacies are (1) thinking an experience is universal, when in fact it's specific to one's particular body/psyche/milieu; and (2) thinking an experience is specific to a particular body/psyche/milieu, when in fact it transcends such divisions—
anyway i get that the phrase 'purposelessly cloistral' is fun to sneer but i'm afraid that, like rhetoric about 'touching grass,' i actually think it's both unkind and intellectually unrigorous as analysis. yes, exposure to a broad variety of people is good for you, and can help you realize that positions you've taken for granted aren't shared by everyone; but people tend to cluster into insular echo chambers anywhere they congregate, whether that be in chatrooms or churches or cities, and i'm frankly very tired of this recurrent urge to, like, resurrect middle school ideas of coolness and use them as cudgels. clubbing—of either variety!—doesn't make you a better person.
#you'll also note the 'like this' in the post i'm criticizing‚ which is elusively‚ frustratingly vague as a condemnation—#like *what*‚ you may ask!#but if you have to ask‚ you're obviously not cool enough to be part of the in crowd#god forbid we define our terms and have a conscientiously careful discussion#that's a CLASSROOM standard for NERDS who spend time INDOORS#so if you object to our framing‚ you become exactly the sort of loser we're denigrating!#anyway. some of us are‚ in fact‚ purposelessly cloistral#and frankly deserve better than to get subtweeted with sloppy sneering analyses like this.#like i PROMISE you there are people out there getting warped into absolutely wild shapes by insular environments based on irl socializing#everyone wants to connect! dots! and it's like#sometimes—often‚ even—the real picture is in fact more complex & less binary than yr simplistic dot-connecting urges are allowing for#anyway‚ as with all such rhetoric‚ pushing back at this unavoidably makes me sound like exactly the sort of hothouse loser it skewers#but what can you do? accept that or else be preemptively shamed into silence (which is of course its goal).#✌️

drawing THE flimsiest of lines between these two but idk there's something about the way they both build lies around themselves and how Hayward rewriting the conception of Paige's god parallels Faulkner telling his part of the verses. the way they both attempt to tell their stories, as twisted as they are

i was thinking about my blorbo francesco pazzi from medici s2, and i realized that he is exactly what you would get if you crossed demandred with gawyn. he is a sexy sexy villain with weird bone structure, a flair for the dramatic, and a tumultuous breakup with his best-friend-turned-mortal-enemy that he is Not Over. he is also a pathetic wet cat of a man who can never pick a side and who makes clown decisions based on obviously false information he believes at the drop of a hat, despite everyone else he knows telling him it's not true, whilst the audience looks on in absolute dismay. and most importantly, he wants to fuck the hero so bad it makes him look stupid.

Sorry I keep updating at like. midnight. I honestly dont have an excuse besides i go to work and i get home and i'm tired fghsdajk
Gonna take me a little while to get into the swing of this. I've never done an askblog like this before (though I have hosted... technically 3 in the past? (EDIT: no, 4 actually.) But never like this, and none of them went anywhere), so trying to get into the swing of it has been weird.
Glad people seem to be enjoying it, though! I had no idea it'd take off like this, aha. Hopefully I can get a bit more consistent and stop uploading at 2 AM, lol.
That said, I don't know what my schedule's gonna be (if I even start one). So if there's a couple days where I don't upload, it's not because I abandoned the AU or anything, it's probably just because I'm busy IRL.
Feel free to keep sending in asks even if I'm not online! I've already got a lot of really good ones sitting there that I'm gonna hold onto for a bit (for. reasons).
This has been really fun so far, and I hope everyone's having fun, too! Just bear with me while I figure this out. I'm hoping to get out a ref of [ERROR] soon, and also stop calling him that soon, but getting into character is proving to be a challenge when you do it on and off like this. But that's never stopped me before and it won't now. Like I said, this has been fun so far!
That said, if anyone has any suggestions on a meta level, I'm all ears. I realize now that I've run into this basically blind, so even though I did a couple week's worth of preparation in advance for this blog, I'm also still floundering a bit. Learning more every day, though! And I'm hoping I can pick up the pace soon as well. After Day 1's rapidfire replies, going at a more leisurely pace feels really slow, and I both wanna fix that but also don't know how because, like I said, I keep uploading at midnight gfdshjk

Also Daniel/Louis!
This is another one that I honestly hadn't considered, though there is in fact a smidge of it coming up in stars. It just wasn't something I set out to do but it makes sense: Louis chose Daniel for a reason to pour his heart out, to say things he says he has never said to another person and Daniel at the end of it just tries to tell him that it's so obvious how much love Louis has. He's even a part of Daniel's hallucinatory journey into vampiredom, that's how important their relationship is to them.
I tend to write them when I'm doing Louis/Armand/Daniel as they're more platonic but their relationship with Armand isn't. However I do think that's subject to change, Daniel doesn't start much from the same people he feels comfortable with when it comes to love and Louis is part of that very small list. I can see there definitely being bed sharing for snuggle purposes and there's definitely a love between them, whether platonic or not is dealers choice.
#also because i think ive realised that Armand's great loves kind of have to adopted by daniel#he can't help but see them as armand does but also the way he does with a certain romanticism and snark#but with Louis he has his own history and connection#and with louis daniel knows him so intensely that theres a lack of boundaries#like he can try to be polite if he wants but daniel can play connect the dots with him fast andncall it out#i love their dynamic deeply#also louis has the metaphorical magic fairy vagina that everyone wants in and Daniel's a curious guy#he's down to figure out if he lives up to the hype#answered#desertfangs#vc
