BEST FRENEMIES WHENEVER AU PART 1 (WARNING: LONGISH POST)

(EVEN THO IMMA PRIORITIZE THE ZIMPAI SHIZPOST THING FIRST- SO AFTER THAT ENDS IMMA CONCENTRATE FULLY ON THIS)

Zimmy wimmy and Dibby dookie were rivals since elementary skool! And they still were in hi skool :3

Also, yes, Zim’s a hooman here! (Or issss heee? Jk he rlly is-)

One day, in science class, Dib and Zim were too busy bickering to listen to their teacher. It basically went like:

Miss Bitters: Class, you have a science project, also known as an opportunity to disappoint your parents. You need to choose a partner for it so that you two can share your misery.

*Everyone went ahead and chose their partners. However, Dib and Zim were too busy fighting to notice what was happening*

*In the end, Zim and Dib were paired up because there was no one else left for them to choose!*

Zim and Dib: NOooOoOoOoOo!1!1!1!1!1!

So the boys decided to make a Time Machine to go back in time to prevent Miss Bitters from pairing them up because they think that they could NEVER succeed in working together.

However…

Basically, Zim went to Dib’s house and brought his Time Machine parts.

Gaz walked in and asked what they were doing. After they explained that they could NEVER work together, Gaz tried to tell them that they literally were by building a Time Machine…TOGETHER-

As the boys were idiots, they didn’t listen lol

Also, here’s the reason why Zim made Time Machine parts in the first place:

When the boys finally finished building the machine, Zim’s chaotic dog Gir came in and messed with the buttons. This caused a laser to blast Zim and Dib

-and they died! The End :D

How often does Dib turn into his human form? Btw Monster Dib is my favorite AU that you made so far

So before Zim came to earth dib didn’t really need to use his human form that much. While he was fascinated by humans he was to busy with his duties as prince to interact with them, that was more of Gaz’s job than his. Even when he ran away from his duties during the six years he spent on earth he usually kept to the shadows.

He did however make up a fake identity and parents for himself though he didn’t really use them until Zim came.

Now he basically uses his human form all the time if only to mess with zim.

Little more info for ya

zim knows both dib’s human disguise and his monster form but he doesn’t know they’re the same person. He hates human dib, but (likes) tolerates monster dib

Dib knows Zim is an alien but he can’t do anything about it for now so he out of skool he gets to stalk/attack him to his heart’s content but during skool he’s settled for tormenting him in very juvenile ways, like making him the social outcast, making him get bad grades, and forcing annoying students(keef) to surround him

Zim's PAK regulates his temperature so he doesn't get very cold. .....Dib on the other hand is freezing and hates the snow

Imagine Zim doesn't give up on his mission before he and Dib are out of skool like he does in a lot of ZADR/ZADF fics. Like, they've transitioned into a new life stage, but he's still trying to take over the earth in an adult setting.

Every week he's getting a new job, not because he needs one since he's still getting a military salary, but because he thinks he's "infiltrating" every job to learn its secrets and access a means of enslaving the human race. He goes to college just because some of the places he wants to infiltrate require a degree and 5-10 years experience and it just doesn't occur to him to forge his credentials. Eventually the Tallest cut him off, his base falls apart and he can't afford to fix it, so he has to move into a shitty apartment and get a steady human job for real. He dreams of one day being able to afford to build a new base. Unfortunately, the cost of those kits has skyrocketed, along with the type of fuel his Voot Cruisr takes and the cost of shipping food that's actually edible for Irkens all the way out to the Space Boonies, and the side-gigs he takes up to earn space currency just aren't paying the bills. Until he discovers he can make bank posting feet pics on Space OnlyFans.

Random zadr story: Online crushes friends; part 1 (featuring oblivious idiots)

(WARNING: MY WRITING SUCKS AND I MIGHT WRITE THEM OOC)

The digital world. Zim could care less about making friends using inferior human technology. An invader needed no one, after all!

…Or so he thought. One day, the Irken decided to try out a social media platform. (The platform is up to u lol, I’m so uncreative) Not because he was lonely or anything-! It was to blend in with the other urth kids and do research on those barely sentient sack of meats. Almost every kid on that technology loving planet had an account—maybe even Dib, Zim’s big headed nemesis, had one too!

Zim decided to make his account anonymous since everyone else did. He didn’t want his nemesis to find out about his account to hack or do anything to it, after all.

A few days after making the account, Zim didn’t want to admit it, but… chatting with those humans online had been…fun?

To be more specific, chatting with this one particularly decent human wasn’t a terrible experience. Maybe that human was slightly…endearing to Zim. Maybe he was Zim’s first friend or-

“ZIM!!” a voice boomed after the door violently got kicked open, “I don’t know what your evil plan is, but I’m gonna stop you!” shouted a bespectacled boy with ashes on his iconic coat from the laser shooting gnomes.

The alien (z)immediately hid away his phone in his PAK and jumped off the couch to face Dib. “Well, well, well! If it isn’t the Dib-thing! You’ll NEVER know my evil plan, NEEEEVER!” Zim yelled at the top of his lungs. Dib rolled his eyes.

“Wait…you don’t have a plan, do you?” Dib asked. Zim has been on the planet for two years, and of course, his plans started to get less evil and harmful. On most days, the alien just annoyed Dib. However, Dib still chose to remain wary as something as big as the Florpus incident could happen again if he lets his guard down…

Taken aback, Zim retorted, “Of COURSE I have a plan, you stupid smelly! It’s uhhmmm…” Dib raised an eyebrow. Not knowing how to defend himself, Zim got out his PAK legs and demanded that Dib should leave. Shrugging, the big headed boy inched his way out of the door, muttering about how he got shot by the lasers for nothing.

Heaving a sigh of relief, the Irken went back on his phone and decided to text his…special friend again.

(Aaaand that’s the end of the prologue!! Anyway, again, my writing is terrible and this is just a random idea in my brain lolll-

I dunno if this thing will become a series, but maaaaybe it willl- we’ll see :3)

I blame you... I blame you so much. I spent the night bingeing your Invader Zim comics and fanfic instead of going to bed. They're all so good! But I need sleep, dammit

Awwwwwwwwww! that makes me so happy!

I'm going to go back to the Post-Florpus au at some point.

It's not really in haitus, moreso it's just taken less priority over my fnaf stuff. I still attempt to get out monthly updates for my patreons, but at the moment the comics are at kinda the "boring part" before it gets to the real meat of the thing.

Basically, the comics being working on right now, are the lead into the GIR-arc, going back full circle to how the series started, and from then on, a few more elements need to be put in place (like why is the fridge broken and why does Zim have a moment of emotional maturity that seems out of character for him to comfort GIR) before the Sibling Arc occurs (which I'm going to redraw) and we'll actually lead into the ZADF of the story, and the final conclusion.

In terms of story structure, we're probably at the mid-way point before the climax, which is ultimately boring to write. (To reiterate, I do not think my writing is dull or boring, I am super proud and love my work. But I think any writer can tell you that there are just some parts of the story that aren't as engaging to WRITE as other parts. Example... Writing the Trail where Zim was forced to see the entirety of his race cheer for his deactivation and coming to the slow realization how much he was hated and wanted to see suffer and force a reality he always knew was GREAT! I loved that and it's still my favorite part of the whole damn au. ....Writing about GIR and Dib talking in the Taco place while Zim just tinkers in his lab after getting his groove back....... Not so much... but the elements need to be put in place so the climax and future events can make sense later.)

Forgive my rambling. I still have a lot of passion for the Post-Florpus AU and it's probably my first long-term fan comic where I actually crafted an ending beforehand. (RIP AKACHOU.... you still don't have an ending after 13 years and multiple haituses ;m; ... it's my old naruto fan comic that's still on deviantart. I plan on coming back to that eventually but the story started when I was a teenager and knew little about how story structure worked so a lot of the humor is very 2009 in some places. I will go back to that probably...eventually. Maybe. But I don't think anyone cares about my old Naruto content) So I'm really excited to get into future installments.

It's just breaking that glass ceiling of a few reveals and not-that-interesting plot elements that's brining my drawing to a snail's pace right now... leading to me diverting my time into more interesting projects... Like the origins of animatronics that kill children and people. XD

Thank you for loving my Invader Zim stuff and I PROMISE it's not over.

Ya know, I've been seeing a lot of stuff for the hc of Zim and Dib as found family lately, and something about it was actually bugging me a bit. Like, I really like zade, zadf, and zadr, and I just couldn't understand why I couldn't really get behind zads.

And then I realized it's ENTIRELY because of Professor Membrane.

I do not like the idea of Zim being absorbed into the Membrane family dynamic, because in the show (the IZ source I'm most familiar with) Professor Membrane is a really shitty parent, and there is nothing satisfying to me about Zim just hanging out at that house with Dib and Gaz, adding another sibling to an already fairly miserable household situation. Sure, they can support each other. But what is the point of keeping them stifled in that environment if Membrane is not present and being a parent?

BUT, consider the alternative: Dib and Gaz saying 'fuck this shit I'm out', and spending more time with Zim at his base. Eventually they just go off on space adventures or something because why not? Found family in space! No shitty dad! Maybe if you reeeeally want a parental figure, you could throw in a dash of the dad-nar hc in there for some extra spice. And THEN you could have Zim deal with his feelings about HIS 'parental' figures. If Lard Nar starts being a real dad to this group of ragamuffins, how does that reframe the way Zim feels about the Tallest? How does Dib feel about the fact that an alien could (most likely) be a better dad than his own father? How do the two of them react to getting positive attention they've never received from a parental figure before?

And when I started thinking of it that way, I saw the potential. I still don't think it's my favorite. I think I definitely enjoy more room for flexibility and ambiguity with Zim and Dib, and making them view each other as siblings almost boxes them into that role a bit. But I can see the potential for a really interesting story there!

Provided Membrane is out of the picture.

#i totally get that there are people who are more familiar with etf membrane and more power to 'em!#but that is a TOTALLY different guy. the guy i saw on tv as a kid let his son get put in a mental institution. presumably forever.#he was barely home. he had 'family night' one night out of the whole year.#he barely ever listened to his kids or took their concerns seriously.#i find it more satisfying when dib is able to free himself from the need for his dad's approval #and i think it would be more satisfying to see zim find a parental figure that actually gives him positive attention #i dunno. that's just me!#and honestly you probably could still write an interesting story about zim dib and gaz living in the membrane household #just trying to get through a shitty living situation together #there is potential... but my problem is when the prof is just 'suddenly a good dad!!!'#like. no. you gotta earn your 'good dad' badge and the prof has zero points in his favor.#but again! that's just how i see it and i'm very show-biased.#invader zim #iz analysis #long post
