Alien: Shouldn’t there be a “G” in there as well then?
Human: Then it would be “MMOG”, and that sounds silly when said out loud.

Human: Oh Christ your name is Mmog, isn’t it?

Human: Pretty much.
Alien: You would think the rest of the galaxy would have united and wiped them all out by now since it looks like the majority of conflicts are started by one side or the other.
Human: Pretty hard to stamp them out when they can crush your windpipe from half a star system away.

Human: Pretty much.
Alien: That doesn’t sound exciting.
Human: It was before they put up a paywall around everything believe it or not.
Alien: How so?
Human: Well for one thing you got to punch an ancient worm god the size of a skyscraper in the face on Mars.
Alien: Wow, that does sound like fun.

Human: How’s it going?
Alien: I’m not sure how but I may have started an in-game race war.
Human: Ah; classic indeed.

Human: Yup.
Alien: Isn’t that what we do now though?
Human: Well when it came out it was depicting the future so it was more exciting.
Alien: I’ll say.
Alien: For being supposedly dangerous I’ve seen waiting lines at amusement parks on Florp III that were more harrowing.
Human: They never did find that little girl waiting for the teacup ride.

Alien: There are not enough players to need so many.
Human: you just don’t understand.

Human: You always need to leave a trail of fire pits behind you as you go in this game.
Alien: Why?

Alien: Plus it has a really annoying feature I hate.

Human: Well for starters they invested in decent writers.

Human: Probably explains why they are swarming you with cheap ships.

Human: They’re probably hoping they can take you out before concord floods the system and wipes them all out.
Alien: That’s crazy!
Alien: They’d waste dozens of ships just to take out my lone miner?
Human: Let me tell you about a little group called “Goonswarm”.

Во - первых, это судно открывает единственный игровой контент который вам доступен (если вы не хотите кидать в монитор 1500+ рублей каждый месяц).
Во - вторых, это не дорогой корабль. 500 тысяч ISK это копейки, которые можно заработать в первый час игры (если вы не сделаете рейджквит в попытках осилить интерфейс).
Таки что вы можете сделать приобретя данного красавца?
В - третьих, вы находитесь в системе с высоким уровнем безопасности, и "боевой" кОрабль для пиратства здесь бесполезен.
Докупить вторую буровую установку -> Опустошить астероид -> Отвезти руду на станцию -> Вернуться в пояс астероидов.
И типа да, это всё. Хочешь ещё какого - то контента - кидай полторы тысячи в монитор.

My favourite line from the new Down The Rabbit Hole video on EVE Online.
For anyone not aware yet, Fredrik Knudsen recently released his monumental EVE Online video and I thought this Brass Eye-worthy line from it to be incredibly powerful. It needs to go on his Twitch soundboard. I can just picture Fred dashing people's hopes by looking them dead in the eyes and saying it.
Also, if I can be honest with you, Fred, if and when you read this, I want you to know that while this video was being made, I was always a bit worried in the back of my head that I wouldn't get into it because EVE didn't sound like something I'd really be interested in.
But once again, the way you present things made it so compelling that I found it difficult to even pause the video, like a good book that you can't put down.

Answering the big questions
Who am I?
I'm not going to fully answer the real-life side of this question except to say that I'm a 40ish nonbinary person working in STEM, who is enjoying their journey through EVE.
Deor L'Matisse is my main character in EVE Online. They are a member of Signal Cartel, a corporation of dedicated explorers seeking to plumb the depths of all New Eden and Anoikis - that is, all of EVE - has to offer. A brief aside about Signal Cartel -
Signal Cartel is staunchly neutral and non-PVP, not taking part in any major war or alliance. They also run some of the larger and more widely used community services in EVE, such as the Thera (and now Turnur) scanning service, and the Wormhole Search & Rescue Service. No matter who you are, we will help you, so long as doing so does not compromise our safety or neutrality or otherwise violate our Credo of nonaggression.
- now, back to me. This blog is going to be about my thoughts and experiences in exploring New Eden, both as a journal and a guidebook. I have been playing about four or five months at this point so am fairly new to EVE, but not at all new to games in general (and EVE is not all that exceptional as games go, except that it is designed about as unintuitively as it is possible to be so takes some getting used to). I pick up new systems quickly and have an analytical mind on account of being a scientist by day, so I think I have some useful things to say for newer players and some older ones alike. Join me on my journey.
What is going to be on this blog?
I don't fully know yet, to be honest, but my plan right now is to populate it with guides, commentary, exploration diaries, and pretty space pictures I take as I venture all across Anoikis and New Eden (the two galaxies in which EVE takes place). I'm likely to reblog relevant posts from other creators - though there aren't many talking about EVE here so not likely much of that, but oh well - and space stuff, as well as science stuff. I'm nonbinary so I care about all that as well. Anything political is strictly coming from me and should in no way be seen as to reflect on anyone else in or on Signal Cartel, by the way (since not talking politics is part of the Credo), but I'm not going to categorically not talk about that stuff here because I think it needs to be heard.
Why here, of all places?
Yes, I know there's almost no EVE Online community on Tumblr. It's strange for me to choose to put my travelog. I chose to do so for two main reasons.
First, I already have other blogs here (no, I won't share them). Being an experienced creator, it was just easier to use this option.
Second, because there's such a small community here, there is less pressure to perform. I'm hopefully not going to be putting on a show for a big studio audience, so I'm just going to be able to say what is on my mind at a given time. We'll see how that goes.
