Can’t Stay Away

(9-1-1) Evan Buckley x Reader

Word Count: 648

Summary: You are a waitress at a cafe that Buck regularly comes to, finally he admits the food isn't the only reason he's there.

“Buck, you’re here again” You smiled as you approached the table where he was sitting.

“Just can’t stay away” Buck shrugged before motioning towards the man sitting opposite him. “This is my friend, Eddie; Eddie this is y/n.”

Eddie gave you a small smile and a wave, “nice to meet you.”

“You too” You nodded. “Anyway, are you ready for me to take your orders?”

You were a waitress at a small cafe right around the corner from the 118. The first time that Buck came in you had instantly notice him. You thought he was very attractive and he seemed like a nice guy.

Before long, Buck was coming in regularly, at least once a week, but normally more. Each time he came in the two of you talked and by now you had gotten to know each other quite well.

It got to the point where you were secretly waiting, hoping for him to come in and order some lunch or dinner. A smile would instantly appear on your face when you saw him entering the cafe.

It had crossed your mind to ask Buck on a date but you were too scared of being rejected. You knew that he didn’t really date much, and if you asked him out he would probably just say no. So you continued to just sit and wait for the next time that Buck would choose to come to your cafe.

“Here you two go.” You placed their burgers and fries on the table in front of Eddie and Buck.

“Thanks y/n” Buck smiled, looking up at you.

“Just be careful, the fries are pretty hot” You added before turning to walk away from their table.

“They aren’t the only thing” You heard Buck mutter under his breath. A small blush formed on your cheeks, but you quickly surpassed it, not sure if Eddie had meant that about you.

“So, he’s back again” y/f/n motioned towards Buck as you reached the front counter. “He might even be hotter than those fires he’s fighting”

“Stop it” You laughed, playfully shoving her.

“Seriously though, why don’t you just ask him out” She asked, whispering so that the two men wouldn’t hear her.

“Because, he doesn’t like me” You shook your head. “He’d just turn me down.”

“Mhm then why’s he always coming in here?” She asked raising her eyebrows, “it’s definitely not for the food.”

“He works around the corner” You brushed off what she had just said.

“Is there anything else I can get you before you go” You asked Eddie and Buck, clearing their empty plates from the table.

“Yes, could I please get some onion rings to go” Buck answered.

“You must really like the food here” You laughed slightly as you wrote down his order.

“Yeah, the food” Eddie muttered sarcastically, receiving a kick from Buck under the table.

“Something like that” Buck nodded smiling at you.

“Have a nice day” You smiled to Eddie and Buck as they were leaving after receiving their onion rings and paying.

“Yeah you too” Buck waved as him and Eddie opened the door to leave.

They had only been gone for about 30 seconds when you saw Buck running back towards the door of the cafe. “Actually, there is one more thing you can get for me before I leave” He said, entering the cafe.

“Of course” You smiled, “What would you like?”

“A date” Buck answered, you could tell he was nervous to ask you.

“With me?” You pointed at yourself.

“Yeah” He shrugged, a nervous smile on his face, “If you don’t want to-”

“I’d love to” You cut him off before he could finish his sentence.

“Great” Buck nodded, a huge smile spreading across his face, “How’s dinner tomorrow? I can pick you up when your shift finishes.”

“Sounds perfect” You smiled, a blush clear on your cheeks.

The 5th Wave- A Thousand Times OverA/N: Hey guys! First things first. I need more requests. I’m down to about 2 or 3. Anyways, I wasn’t quite sure what to do with this imagine so it may be crap or it may not. Did that make sense? I can’t think properly today. Hope you like it!

Your POV

You ran down the hall with Ben and Cassie, trying to find Cassie’s little brother, Sammy. You had known Cassie for years and had been good friends in school. You were with her when the aliens took Sammy. You had both met Evan in the forest. Evan had taken a liking to the both of you but he was a little more vocal about his feelings towards Cassie. You could feel Ben’s eyes on you. Although Cassie had liked Ben while they were in school, Ben couldn’t keep his eyes off of you since you two had found him. Cassie suddenly skidded into something large and Ben caught you from falling on top of her. You breathed a sigh of relief, silently thanking him with your eyes. He nodded at you and you turned you attention to what had stopped Cassie.

“Evan?” Cassie asked incredulously. Evan nodded though he never stopped looking at you.

“What are you doing here?” You asked, finding your voice trembling. Ben touched your arm and you relaxed at his touch.

Evan must have noticed this and his voice was tight when he said “I’ve come to put an end to the bastards. What are you doing here? You’ve gotta get outta here.”

“We’ve come to get Cassie’s younger brother Sammy.” Ben said for the both of you. This comment seemed to piss Evan off; why, you did not know. Evan pushed Ben up against the wall and got in his face.

“You know nothing. You know nothing about (Y/n) or what she’s been through with me. In fact your a nothing.” Evan spat in Ben’s face. You and Cassie tried to pull Evan off of Ben, who’s face showed pure terror.

“Evan we don’t have time for this.” You yelled, finally ripping him off of Ben. You and Evan breathed deeply, staring into each other’s eyes. Suddenly, he kissed you, and you weren’t sure if you kissed back.

“I just want you to know that I will always choose you. I’ve always chosen you and I’ll chose you a thousand times over if I have to.” And with that Evan was gone down the hallway. Ben pulled on your arm and you guys took off. You pushed all thoughts of Evan out of your head, your safety was too important to dwell on what happened. As you and the others flew away, you watched as the place blew to pieces. Ben wrapped his arms around you as you started crying, realizing Evan was probably gone.

Later on in the day, you were sitting with Ben, not saying anything as Cassie walked over. She put her head on Ben’s chest and you smiled, knowing they belonged together. While you had been close with Cassie, you had been even closer to Ben. Ben had always had feelings for Cassie, you were just too stupid to realize it. Ben hadn’t been able to keep his eyes off of you because he couldn’t believe that you were alive. Out of everyone he had lost and thought he lost in the 5 waves, when he thought he had lost you, it devastated him.

“Hey, (Y/n), I’m really sorry about Evan.” Ben said softly, looking at you. You sighed and looked at the setting sun, hoping to one day find a way to find him, dead or alive. Sometimes knowing the truth is better than not knowing at all.
