Erica’s convulsing did not let up as Scott jumped into the back of the Jeep with her - him being the only one able to restrain her. “Where are we even taking her? Derek hasn’t gone back to his house for weeks!” Zaida exclaimed, the shaking in her hands starting to spread up her arms. She gripped the passenger seat beneath her and gritted her teeth, trying not to let it show, but Stiles noticed. Stiles always noticed. He sent her a worried expression with wide eyes, but she shook her head slightly, indicating for him to drop it. She didn’t want Scott to know just yet. Not when they had bigger things to worry about.

“The…railroad depot.” Erica managed to ground out between full-body spasms and choking sounds.

Stiles didn’t need to be told twice, he knew exactly where she was talking about and slammed his foot onto the pedal. They made it there within ten minutes and several ran red lights. From there on in, Scott led the way with his nose, managing to get inside through a back entrance. In their haste, they descended the stairs two at a time into the darkness of the abandoned building. Derek must have sensed that they were there because he was ready to meet them, opening the doors to a railway car.

“The Kanima attacked, and she just started seizing, we don’t know what to do,” Zaida explained frantically, her voice shaking from the nauseating fear within her stomach. The shaking had now spread to almost her whole body as if she was shivering. “Wasn’t her whole reason for taking the bite because it was supposed to stop the seizures? So, why is this happening?”

“Was she paralysed?” Derek questioned as Stiles sunk to the floor, holding Erica in his arms. The boy nodded and Derek kneeled beside him as Scott and Zaida watched on. “The Kanima venom stopped her accelerated healing. That’s why she’s having a seizure. Hold her up.”

“Is she dying?” Stiles asked anxiously, trying desperately to keep Erica as still as he possibly could while she writhed in his lap.

“She might. Which is why this is gonna hurt.” Derek answered blankly and reached out to clutch one of Erica’s arms with both hands, wrenching them to break the bone clean in half with a loud snap. Erica threw her head back and screamed. The sound of it was agonizing in and of itself, but for Zaida…it felt as if it was happening to her. She cried out and whimpered, biting her lip to stifle the noise so fiercely that she could taste the metallic essence of warm blood on her tongue. If her own pain was only an echo of what Erica was feeling…she truly felt horrible for the girl. Her eyes flickered between Scott and Derek, who were both so focused on Erica that they assumed Zaida was simply crying out in shock.

“You broke her arm!” Stiles exclaimed, outraged at the wolf’s actions. Zaida was too distracted to see the sense in it.

“It'll trigger the healing process. I still gotta get the venom out - this is where it's really gonna hurt.” Derek warned and Zaida braced herself, gripping the metal bars of the seat legs. Surely enough, the stabbing pain came, and tears spilled from her eyes as she struggled not to scream the way Erica was. Instead, she sobbed, watching through blurry vision as Derek dug his claws into Erica’s broken arm, draining the blood from the limb. Scott reached out to squeeze Zaida’s shoulder in support, believing she was having an emotional reaction to watching what was going on. From the look on Stiles’ face as she caught his eye, he knew. The boy couldn’t do anything to help her, lest he expose her secret, and she wasn’t yet ready for her newfound abilities to be out in the open yet. She sighed in sweet relief when Erica’s seizure stopped, resulting in the pain fading and the shaking stopping. The blonde wolf sagged in Stiles’ arms as she went quiet.

“Stiles...you make a good Batman…” She smiled up at him weakly and Zaida felt a pang of some unrecognisable emotion in her chest that left as swiftly as it came.

***Prequel***- In beacon hills everyone knew everyone and Derek was tired of it. He’s known for a long time now that he’s bi but he’s always wanted to explore his kinks further or attend some kink or bdsm clubs to see what they could offer him. But being from such a small town everyone’s business is a little too intertwined. He knew he had to leave town if he ever wanted to explore this side of himself. He talked to many people but eventually he ended up becoming friends with a certified mistress,kink educator, and club event coordinator named Braeden. Power—what it is, who deserves it, and what it’s for—is one of Teen Wolf’s central themes. It’s what Peter killed Laura in order to gain (1x01), what Allison desires in the place of feeling weak (1x09), what Derek says pack and his Alpha status are for (2x03), what Matt (2x10), Gerard (2x12), Deucalion (3x04), and Jennifer (3x10) are seeking. While it’s always in the wings of these storylines, 3a is when it really hits center stage with the parallels between Derek, Deucalion, Scott, and Jennifer.

It’s often assumed that Deucalion represents what Scott could become, but I think Deucalion is actually a darker version of Derek. In Visionary, Deucalion’s and Derek’s fatal mistakes are paralleled. They both desire humans and werewolves to get along (the hunters for Deucalion, Paige for Derek), so they organize a meeting only to be betrayed (Gerard, Ennis/Peter), and ultimately their loved ones die (pack, Paige). Both of them even experience a permanent change to their eyes. 

In Unleashed, Deucalion spells out his motives to Derek: “The reason I’m always invested in new talent is simple. We all know a pack is strongest due to its individual parts: the stronger the individual parts, the stronger the whole. ... I took the individual parts and became a greater individual whole” (3x04). Deucalion sees pack primarily as an extension of personal power. Deucalion’s perspective is more extreme, but still similar to Derek’s. Derek tells Scott that “we’re stronger in numbers. A pack makes the individual more powerful” (1x05), and later when Scott argues that he’s making betas for his own personal power, Derek says “it’s true. It is about power” (2x03). Peter also recognizes what Derek’s doing, as he pointedly asks Isaac, “Why do you think Derek was in such a hurry to build his pack? So eager to strengthen his power and his number?” (2x12), which Isaac will hit upon later: “Why’d you do this to us, Derek? Was it all about the power?” (3x11).

While they both take a certain pleasure from their pursuit of power, it’s also about safety. Deucalion was betrayed by his pack (Marco) and so consumed his betas, taking the pack’s power so no one could hurt him again (3x08). Derek was betrayed by his pack (Peter) and so created his betas, making the pack’s power his own so no one could hurt him again (2x03, 2x12). Deucalion’s version is just an escalated, more direct way of using betas for safety/his own personal gain. In the end, Boyd and Erica die for their place in Derek’s pack, just as Deucalion’s betas die for their place in his.

But Derek’s story doesn’t end the same way Deucalion’s does. After Deucalion is forced to kill Marco, he just keeps going (Ennis, for example, in 3x05). After Derek is forced to kill Boyd, something different happens. Instead of consuming more betas for power, Derek instead chooses to give his power up. Peter explains his Alpha spark can save Cora, and Derek replies without hesitation: “I don’t care about power. Not anymore” (3x11). Even when Peter makes explicit that Derek might need that power just “to fight back,” Derek’s resolve doesn’t waver. He’s choosing to give up power, even in the name of safety, to protect someone else.

Scott, meanwhile, is operating on a different axis entirely. While Derek and Deucalion went out of their way to form packs for personal power, Scott did the opposite: not only did he not create or join a pack for protection, he chose to be an omega—something he knew would mean a drop in power (2x01). Much to Derek’s shock, Scott starts to gain pack and power not in spite of this decision, but because of it (2x05). Scott consistently uses his power and pack to protect others rather than for personal gain. As Derek will later tell the twins, “Scott doesn’t care about power. He cares about people” (3x16). 

This makes Jennifer the dark mirror to Scott: Jennifer tries to claim that her desire for power is just “a necessary evil” (3x09), but as Derek says, she’s still killing “innocent people” (3x10). While Jennifer sacrifices other people for herself, Scott sacrifices himself for other people—literally. Each time Scott’s eyes start to turn in 3a, it’s the direct result of trying to protect others. He attacks Ennis to save Isaac (3x05), strains against mountain ash to save Deaton (3x07), and finally breaks through Jennifer’s barrier to save the parents (3x12). None of these acts are about trying to gain power. For the most part, in fact, they’re about losing it. Scott says the attempt in Lunar Ellipse “nearly killed him” (5x04), and the original script described the process as “the flesh literally tearing from his cheeks” (3x07, Green Draft).

This is what leads to Scott’s rise to True Alpha: it’s not about just “not killing,” but specifically about not killing for power. Scott doesn’t steal his power from his own pack (Deucalion), from another Alpha (Derek, the twins), or through sacrificing others (Jennifer), but from the strength of his desire to protect others.

While “absolute power corrupts absolutely” is probably the most famous axiom on power, I think Robert Caro’s take is more apt: “Power doesn’t always corrupt. Power can cleanse. What I believe is always true about power is that power always reveals: when you have enough power to do what you always wanted to do, then you see what the guy always wanted to do.”

Teen Wolf Characters or Disney?

So being a big TeenWolf fan and a Disney Dreamlight Valley fan I have started noting a lot of similarities between Teen Wolf characters and Disney characters. The main ones pictured literally jumped out at me but I have also been thinking there are lots more.

Kate Argent / Cruella De Ville - both are self absorbed high strung diva's who literally enjoy killing puppies/wolves for their own pleasure

Noah & Stiles / Marlin & Nemo - protective dad and hyper son who have an amazing bond, lost their wife/mum. Big hearted kid who tries to look out for everyone, including their slightly dumbass friend (note I adore Dory, but not so much Scott)

Peter & Derek / Scar & Simba - psychotic uncle with a suave sassyness that as much as you hate him you also kinda like him and its annoying as hell. Tender hearted nephew who had their world stolen out from under them and is haunted by familial death that they blame themself for, isolating themselves after in penance. Both the true leaders with major self doubt and sacfricial tendancies.

Stiles & Claudia Stilinski / Bambi & Bambi's Mum - a mother who is taken away from her child when they are way too young in traumatic circumstances, the child the only witness to their death. A child who is big hearted, kind, clumsy and has literal doe eyes.

Other potential similarities?

Allison Argent / Merida (Brave) - badass archer, plus ya know Crystal looks like a literal Disney princess and Merida is one.

Chris Argent / King Tritan (Little Mermaid) - protective badass dad who is seriously concerned over their daughters choice of boyfriend being another species

Erica Reyes / Tinkerbell - blonde badass with serious attitude, has the boys wrapped around her finger and when she is angry watch the fuck out!

Isaac Lahey, Vernon Boyd & Jackson Whitmore / Lost Boys (Peter Pan) - need I say more? Each are literally lost in their own way, they ask for the bite because they need a sense of belonging or power. With these all being lost boys and Erica as Tinkerbell, does that make Derek also Peter Pan? He's defo more Simba but .... 🤔

Lydia Martin / Belle (Beauty & the Beast) - intelligent beauty who is focused on for her looks rather than her smarts initially. Pursued by a belligerant jock (Jackson/Gaston)

Melissa McCall / Mrs Potts (Beauty & The Beast) - caring mum who is loved by all, always there with a shoulder for everyone

Why was there not a lot of Allison bashing in teenwolf. Especially in season 2-3.

Like Erica’s death is like 80% Allison’s fault. Why was she never held accountable for her actions against almost every werewolf in the series. Allison has done some fucked up shit in the series.

Like yeah I know she was manipulated by Kate and Gerard (I don’t know how to spell his name to lazy to look it up) but I wanted to see more of her guilt (if she really even had any) or just more scenes where someone got pissed at her and held her accountable for her actions.
