Aspect of Order: Primordial & Present-Day
One of the first deities, part of what is known as the Primordial Triad. It created the planes alongside the Aspects of Chaos and the In-Between and held dominion over the Material Plane. It embodied order in the way nature has order: the life cycle, gravity, the tides, the surety that the seasons will change, the patterns that appear in flora and fauna alike, the symmetry of pinecones and butterflies. It was associated with the night as a time of quiet preparation where the world rests, and when one can see the remains of creation in the darkened sky. It is said that the two moons of the Material Plane are its eyes, watching over its creations.
All three members of the Primordial Triad are referred to with "it", so ancient and unfathomable that applying a mortal, transient concept of gender to them seemed almost blasphemous.
Almost.
The modern-day conception of Order is quite different. Though she still reigns over the night and natural laws, her followers have placed her at the forefront of the creation process, reducing the In-Between's role and rejecting Chaos altogether. Though most present-day cultures think of her in this way, many of them do not emphasize her: she is an invisible Over-God, keeping the other deities and forces in line and maintaining cosmic balance from behind the scenes. In places where she is worshipped heavily, however, she is placed at the forefront of the pantheon. In those cases, worship of deities with overlapping domains is either illegal (ex local gods of justice) or considered secondary to her (ex the god of the Wilds). The worship of smaller, local deities is usually discouraged or suppressed over-all in these areas in order to encourage a more structured, uniform religious practice. While both aspects of Order championed paladins, Primordial Order also championed druids and rangers while Modern Order champions clerics.
Ancient theologians debated whether or not Order and Chaos were two aspects of the same being (ironically, there was no question that the In-Between was its own separate force). However, following the iconoclasm that effectively forced Chaos out of the pantheon and created the modern conception of Order, such lines of thought were considered heretical, and then blasphemous.
The iconoclasm did have an unintended consequence, however. Crying motifs appeared in some art of Primordial Order around that time, particularly in the areas that resisted the iconoclasts more intensely. Some scholars believe that it may have been a direct reaction to the event: Order mourning the loss of its counterpart. Others have argued, however, that the lack of such motifs (or equivalents) in depictions of the In-Between prove this wrong. After all, why would it not also be grieving?

(Though tbh I feel like this difference in attitudes towards...being understood and audience-oriented is one that exists between English-speaking academia and German-speaking academia as a whole. Though that's just a very generalised impression.)

so today i went on a "hiking" trip with like 20 people and oh my god it was so tiring. it was like a 2 hour walk, the last part of which uphill. my feet hurt so much but i think they'd hurt worse if i wasn't so used to walking a lot here already. and it was raining for most of it and it was just so... i wouldn't do it again, that's for sure.
no one i usually talk to was there either so everyone else was in groups except me. so i tried to attach myself to a group and get some words in but it was mostly just me overhearing conversations. i felt so alone ironically. everybody's lives seem so alien and so different than mine in a way that has nothing to do with age but with like youth culture which i was never a part of. i don't drink or smoke or party and never did so it's just like what do i talk about. the inflation? i'm truly like a fish out of water

Kultúrsokk #1 - Szieszta
Sziasztok! :)
Vágjunk is a közepébe: a szieszta.

A Timeless Resurgence: Unraveling the Threads of The Renaissance (14th-17th centuries)
In the vast tapestry of human history, few periods have ignited the flames of creativity, intellect, and cultural revival quite like The Renaissance. Spanning from the 14th to the 17th centuries, this remarkable epoch was a symphony of innovation, a dance of ideas, and a gallery of human potential. As we step into this era of rebirth and exploration, let’s unravel the threads of The Renaissance,…

" I am free? "
During a project there was one performance that captured my attention when I walked in the room of 30+ artists creating , what I would call a world.
This man, this character was sitting like a statue, like an object that's part of the "world " and other artists began to decorate him. They covered his eyes, his whole body and then began to write. When I joined the room he already had gonne blind and a simple question remained till the end -
" I am free? "
Even grammatically this question remained intriguing and apocalyptic in my mind. He wasn't asking if he was free... no,no. He was making sure that he still had his freedom. As in " free" was something he already had, not something he was unsure of or searching for, but now he wasn't sure if he had it anymore...lost?
I sat next to him, looking at him for the whole duration of the creative process, seeking to find someone who would make him unblind, someone who would set him free. But to no avail, they added more and more and when satisfied with their expression- left him.
At the end of the process, after seeing that nobody will free him, I took the initiative- I unblinded him and took the question " I am free?" , placed it at his feet and removed all the rest of the paper that covered his body and spelled " yes" .
He knew he was free, he had just forgotten - sometimes we need a reminder that we are.
A performance I will not forget,  a man I will remember.

We probably smile more now than was customary in the past; in this respect we have become more expressive, rather than less. Until the end of the eighteenth century, the extent to which one should stretch one’s mouth in a smile was subject to strictures. We have seen that baring the teeth for any reason could be startling at table; complaints about showing teeth used often to mention their blackened state, and doubtless improvements in dental science and hygiene have contributed to our relaxation of rules about smiling and laughter.
But in addition decorum, as so often, meant a tranquil demeanour, whereas laughter and even smiling mark emotional engagement and, if too vivid, a suggestion of loss of control. In the fifteenth century, grinning and “mowing,” or making faces, at table is discouraged in Stans puer ad mensam. (It is certain that deliberately “pulling faces” to increase the expressivity of one’s discourse was until very recently more common than it is now.)
Portraits showing the sitter’s teeth in a smile were always rare; laughing subjects appear usually in paintings where the decorum is deliberately low. Erasmus says that smiling so broadly that your cheeks wrinkled and your teeth were exposed was impolite, and reminded people of dogs. He suggests covering the face with a napkin if uncontrolled laughter should break out at table. (In the past, people appear to have covered their faces with cloths and kerchiefs on many occasions: for grief, for fear, for delicacy and shame.) A hand at least should cover a laughing mouth—a preference which still operates in modern manners, though we possibly do it more because of the risk of arousing disgust, especially when we have been eating, than because laughing is in itself indecorous.

My rules for 2024:
Dieting and health: Any weight above 55kg is unacceptable and I will not be living like this anymore
1. The 1200 calories a day is the maximum amount you should ever ingest, aim for 1000 calories. Never restrict too much, however, you have to study and function well in university.
2. The only drinks you are allowed are black coffee, unsweetened tea and diet coke. A plain latte is only allowed on a date or when hanging out with your friends. This should never be done more than twice a week.
3. Take your multivitamins in order to function well and treat your muscular problems.
4. Stretching is to be done every morning, for at least 10 minutes. It is not much, but it helps. You should walk everywhere, however, never let anyone convince you to take the bus when the destination is at a less than 20 minutes of walking distance. Aim for at least 5000 steps a day.
5. Drink 2l of water a day. Being hydrated is especially important for your skin and body.
6. Eat strategically. Only eat before class, before studying, only when you need the energy food provides. Never waste that energy when it's not necessary.
7. Never order fast food again. Learn how to resist the urge to say yes when it's being proposed. Your roommate is skinny, you are not. She can have it, you cannot.
8. You can indulge in some unhealthy things that bring you joy. Your nicotine addiction is manageable - try to replace cigarettes with vape liquid, it is less pricey and makes your room smell better. Slowly decrease the nicotine concentration until you are ready to completely drop it. The occasional wine is accepted, but count the calories in it and don't overindulge. Never are you to be seen in public smoking or drunk, however. Always keep these flaws secret.
Studying: Medical school is hard and demanding, but it is possible to get through it.
1. Any mark under an 8 is deemed unacceptable and you should strive for the better.
2. You know yourself well. Stop trying to mimic the way other people study, use the method you know has worked for you since the beginning. You are smart and capable.
3. Stick to your schedule religiously. Study every single day except for Saturdays. Every subject is to be revised and valued equally.
4. Start studying for examinations one week before it takes place. Strive for the best marks. Complete projects as soon as they are announced.
5. Always take notes, answer questions and be attentive during class. The people who judge you for this are jealous of your intelligence. Never shut up ever again.
6. Volunteering is essential: it gives you bonus points for future Erasmus projects. Therefore, you should attend such events once a month. Do not prioritize it over your studies, however.
Hobbies: You must have a personality and be cultured, besides being smart. Never let anyone see you as boring.
1. Reading is your favorite activity - aim to read 20 pages a day. Read 40 pages in the weekends. Read fashion magazines as well, in order to stay inspired.
2. Writing - on the weekends, try to write something: an article, a poem, some prose, a blogpost, anything you like. Never let that passion fade away.
3. Limit TV shows to 40 minutes per day, watch a movie on the weekend.
4. Go out to see the opera, a museum or an art exposition every month.
5. Stay up to date with the news in the industries that matter to you!!
Personality and Social Life: Things are going great, but they can be improved.
1. Always keep your cool. Never are you to rage in public ever again. People respect you, don't mess this up. You must always wear a confident smile, never show your weak side in public.
2. Be friendly and helpful. Always say hi when walking past someone you know and engage in conversations with your colleagues. However, you are not to overshare with people you do not know well. Keep the conversations going about themselves, not yourself, unless asked about.
3. Help people out whenever you are directly asked for. However, do not overdo it. Put yourself first.
4. Do not talk ill about anyone unless it's with your close friends or significant other. This can be used against you anytime.
5. Never seem too available. Only hang out if your schedule allows you to. Never fall into the trap of "study gatherings" as you know well you function better individually.
6. Keep in touch with your close ones daily. Ask about their day, show them that you care.
7. Hangouts must be limited to twice a week. You must only hang out with your boyfriend once a week. It hurts, but it keeps you both focused on your work.
8. Don't PDA at university, please. This has to stop once and for all. Limit it to hand holding and sitting together at less important courses. Do not show people how needy you are.
9. People who lack certain morals and are not compatible with you from this point of view should not be part of your life. Their negative energy impacts you a lot. Only speak to them if directly approached.
10. Don't be late, it's unacceptable. You must be present 10 minutes before the start of an event.
11. Never are you to be seen in nightclubs or places that may damage your reputation. If it doesn't characterize you to be in that place, stay home. Do not fear missing out on anything, you already saw enough.
12. Use social media for only 30 minutes daily.
Looks: Being put together is the key to success. It teaches you discipline.
1. Skincare must be done twice a day, morning and night. Keep it simple but consistent, as your skin is not compatible to harsh chemicals. Apply perfume and body sprays.
2. Makeup should be kept to a minimum, unless it's a special occasion: eyeliner, mascara, eyebrow gel, lip liner and lip gloss is the perfect recipe.
3. Your hair must be lustrous and well kept. Wear it down most of the time. Do a cute hairstyle once a week.
4. You must always be dressed up for the occasion: always wear preppy academic outfits to university, something more playful and fun when you go out, your lounge wear and pajamas should still be cute. Even if nobody sees you, you still can see yourself.
5. Buy some new clothes every month. Change it up, do not seem repetitive with your outfits.
6. Your clothes must always smell good, be meticulously ironed and fresh.
7. Never are you to wear the same outfit again in a week. People notice and you must not seem lazy.
8. You have to take care of yourself every week: shave, paint your nails and toenails, exfoliate, apply a face mask, wash your hair.
9. Shower every other day instead of every day as your skin dries out. After every shower, use lotions for your body. You must always smell like a cake.

Whb characters reacting to Mc teaching them a cultural dance
I'm in an Erasmus as I'm writing this and I need to put my pookies in every scenario of my life to be complete.
Satan is very open to learning about other cultures. He would follow in your steps making sure he doesn't make a mistake. He's surprisingly good at this and he'll swoop you away with his smooth moves. Would teach you traditional dances from Gehenna as well so you'll be able to understand your cultures better. Starts with the hardest one so you'll get annoyed at him. It's not his fault you don't have the stamina of a demon.
Sitri would gladly do anything you ask of him. He's also very good at dancing and he's a swift learner, which makes him a wonderful dance partner. He would tell you a lot about how he remembers all the other dances you (read: Solomon) thought him and he's more than happy to remind you of them. As long as you're in his company, he's the happiest demon alive.
Gamigin has two left feet, so, please have mercy on his poor soul. He'll get the hang of it eventually and he'll be so happy for doing so. If it's a dance that requires more people, he'll gladly take the whole of Paradise Lost and dance alongside them. No, the staff stays with him even during the dance. He's very excited to learn about your culture and he'll bombard you with questions left and right. Would constantly ask you if you want to dance with him once more or if you know other dances. Asks Jjok to record him dancing with you and even though the video ends up blury, he'll still treasure it for all the years to come.
Morax is another bad dancer (if we're being honest, only Lucifer can dance from Paradise Lost and he's not doing it for free.) It's fine, if he steps on your feet or hurts you in any other way, he can cure you instantly. He's stiff, and his moves are akward, almost forced (since he has wounds everywhere) but he'll try his best and have a blast doing it. Would hug you at the end of the dance and thank you for sharing it with him. Very polite gentleman.
Barbatos is all for it. You show him a the moves and he picks you up and starts dancing. He's very flexible and willing, so he can bend in whatever way is neccessery. He'll dance with you constantly and he preferes faster dances since he can flex more that way. Would totally ask you to dance with him in the sun, feel your bodies touched by the sun's warm rays as you enjoy eachother's body (not in that way).

Okay so thanks to @doberbutts I started watching Shogun(2024)
And yeah, the newer adaption is uh..really graphic about some things. Human soup was not an exaggeration at all. And because I have a slight special interest in japan I ended up watching it all, and then started in on the 1980 version.
Holy shit some things went way hard, and some are just mild as hell, and then others are entirely different.
First, the version of the 1980 show I found has no subtitles for the japanese like at all. It was itentionally done like that for the scenes with Blackthorne, where we're supposed to be as lost as he is. But this one has none at all and I'm honestly loving that, even if it's not supposed to be like that, which I dunno
One major thing that stuck out was the lighting. 2024 is so. fucking. dark. you literally can't see anything more than once. Like a silhouette is all you get.
Then you have 1980 with modern spotlights hanging in the rigging of the ships 🤣 I mean like super fucking obvious, whole ass white light shining straight down onto the ropes. It's great, sincerely.
But the big differences in story and presentation are what I wanna go into(some of the more spoiler-oriented stuff) so go below the cut if you want more
2024-Starts off with written exposition, then goes to the Erasmus, with the dying crew feeling lost as hell. Captain has already given up and Blackthorne gives him his pistol. You can guess what happened. Fast forward a bit and we see the boat coming to shore and a lone Japanese man watching it before local samurai gather to see what this beat to hell ship is doing here. Ship is boarded and the crew are taken ashore. Cut to Osaka castle and we already get to meet Lord Toranaga (played by my man Hiroyuki Sanada) and the members of the court. In this version we also meet Fujiko's husband, whereas in the 1980 show he and their son were only mentioned in passing. The whole human soup thing is graphic af. I mean....Yeah....Dude bashes his own head in and we get to see that.
1980-Starts off with verbal exposition, and after a much happier intro, we cut to Blackthorne waking up in a Japanese-style room. This is where any cinematic reference to Japanese language and culture begins. Also captain is still alive but sick as hell, and one of their captors ends up in the cell with them. Seppuku ensues. Toned down the soup scene SO much, but added a second one where we only had the one guy in the 2024 version. A lot more outright "behave or we hurt your crew" exchange.
I'll add more later just tired rn
