So just like I got infected by the Steddie brainrot last fall, I've now fallen deep into the gay firefighters show and the last 10 pages of my ao3 is full of Buddie fics 😆 so most of these fics were read in the first two weeks of this rec...

I'm trying to get back into the habit of making these recs every week. I've been working on a banner and it's not ready yet, but I didn't want to wait for it to be ready before making fic recs because procrastination = bad!! 😆 I hope you enjoy!
If you don't know me from my other fic rec blogs, I rec pretty much all the fics that I've read and that I've enjoyed in these recaps, but I put an emoji next to the ones that I liked just a liiiiiittle bit more 😉 For Stucky, I used blue hearts (💙), for Steddie I used black hearts (🖤), and for Buddie... well the decision wasn't too hard to make 😜

I just wanted to say how much I absolutely adore your fics - I finished the steddie regency au today which was SO GOOD - I've put it off because it's a longer one and I wanted to be able to properly enjoy it but then I caved and read it all in a day 🙈 And of course eating in the underworld is one of my all time favourite series 😍

Crossroads (Tumblr/AO3)
Steve has loved Eddie for centuries. For millennia. In every lifetime Steve remembers. And in every lifetime Eddie doesn't.
This fic was my baby for the longest of long times. I'm a bit of a history/classical studies nerd and I just couldn't get the thought of this kind of centuries long epic and devastating love story out of my head. I had originally planned to hint that our Steddie boys had influenced some of the most famous love stories in history but couldn't really find an appropriate place to put it. But I love this story and I put an awful lot of myself into it. 🖤
2. Safety (Tumblr/AO3)
There's a guy following Robin home. But just as she was ready to go into a full blown panic, she sees them. Long hair, chains, leather, denim, tartan, rings, tattoos, subculture.
Flag patches and pins, her people. So she jumps into the middle, hoping, praying they'll go with it.
This fic... Oh man I could not have predicted the response to this fic. People adore it and I adore them for it. I think it's because there's such a solid theme of queer solidarity here. And people being people being good. Just helping each other out when in need. Understanding what it's like when you're part of a marginalised group and looking out for each other. It's such a comfort fic for me. 🖤
3. 37 Years To The Day (Tumblr/AO3)
Eddie, Steve, Robin and Nancy have just jumped through a lake into the Upside-Down when two mysterious and chaotic adults appear out of nowhere by Skull Rock. But why do they look so familiar?
This was one of the fics I had a vauge concept for a while but didn't start working on it until the anniversary of Eddie's "death day" (never happened) started to approach and I thought it could be a pretty cool idea. Plus I love writing Eddie and Robin being chaos creatures together.
4. Somebody To Love (Tumblr/AO3)
Personal assistant Steve and Rockstar Eddie. Unrequited love but not really. Mutual pining ALL OVER the place. And a lot of self care for both our boys.
It seems like all my most popular fics are the ones I came up with on a whim and not the ones I've been marinating on for months. 😅 Which is very interesting. But this one I thought it could be such a good opportunity for some terrible angst if Steve was right there watching Eddie hook up and discard people right in front of his face with no idea and it looks like I was right. 🤣
5. Family Commitments (AO3)
Eddie and Robin crash a family wedding Steve has to go to.
I love this one so much. It feels so soft and so comfortable to me like a well worn top. I just love writing sillies being besties. I love seeing the casual intimacy of a long term established relationship. I love a snapshot of life. I love the comfort of long term friendships. I love people who are so sure of their places in other peoples lives.
I just love it. 🖤

Dustin discovers that Steve and Eddie have been hanging out without him, and is determined to figure out what’s going on. This story is cute and really well-written, with great Dustin POV.
Eddie Munson’s Vampire Mixtape by Springandastorm
Works: 4 Total words: 191,248
A series! I don’t read a whole lot of vampire!Eddie stories, but this one really sucked me in. It has amazing plot, epic worldbuilding, and focuses on more characters than just Steve and Eddie. And it is loooong- excellent if you’ve got some time and really want to do some reading.

Words: 27,276
Eddie survives the bats and stays with Steve while he recovers. Just a very soft, sweet, lovely getting together fic from Steve’s point of view. Touches on some of Steve’s feelings of insecurity as well. I love this story so much, it has my whole heart. The greedy little goblin in my brain wishes there was more.

Okay, five favorite fics of mine:
Of Empires, Queens and Builders. Dragon Quest Builders 2. Pre-relationship Malroth/Female builder. This is a continuation of the game wherein the Isles merge into the world of Dragon Quest 2 some X-hundred years after the events of the game. The characters start exploring and make contact with another kingdom, and Malroth gets to enter a tournament. I liked writing it because I love world-building and it let me write cool action scenes. Someday, I'll write the next part.
War of the Broses, Supernatural, Destiel, HS AU. This was the first fic I finished and published on AO3. It's a prank war between high school seniors Dean and Cas. There are a bunch of footnotes that I did html jumps for, and lots of entertaining comedy and side characters. It was fun. I wrote it at work.
Is This a Kissing Fic?, Dragon Quest Builders 2, Malroth/Female Builder. Closest thing I get to PWP. It's just porn, it's to the point, and it's relatively short. 10k-ish. I don't write short fic so this feels like an accomplishment.
Crown of Thorns, Stranger Things, Steve/Eddie. WIP. Continuation of season 4. Eddie's dead... for now. Ensemble cast, because I love exploring the lives of these characters. Depressed Steve, Will gets powers, Eddie (despite being dead) gets powers, Druid!Eddie, Give Claudia Henderson a Gun, epic last battle (eventually). Will's powers are not what they appear at this time, but I'm not up to that point yet. It's pre-relationship Steddie, because Eddie's dead and that makes a relationship difficult.
The Prophetic D&D Game, Stranger Things, WIP. The Hellfire Club is about to start the Cult of Vecna. When one player can't make the first session, Eddie decides to try a different game that he came up with on a whim. He's already made characters for the players to use, and he's got an idea of where it's going. Some of his freshmen are a little weirded out about story. Evil mirror-dimensions, murderous psychic attacks, and characters inspired by people they know are just standard fare in his games. They'll get used to it. I like writing this one because, so far, it's a one-room kind of game and it's all an exercise in character interactions.

Gift wrapped suburban dreams by Andthrowmethekey (University AU | <1K | Teen): A collection of one shots set in a college AU verse where these two are the best of friends who are hopelessly in love with other and are also overly affectionate but terrified of making a move and messing up what they have. Enter all of the pining, yearning, and longing.
💙 Smooth Talker by HaniTrash/ @hanitrash (Shrunkyclunks, Post-Avengers | 7K | Explicit): When Steve decided to try waxing instead of shaving to avoid catching his body hair in the Cap suit, things don't go quite the way he expected. Then Steve had huffed a laugh, nudging Dustin back. Okay, okay. I’ll pay for it, you little shit. But Eddie gets Steve, too, Dustin thinks; that’s why he called him. And yeah, it’s different than the way Dustin understands Steve, but it’s significant enough for Eddie to make the cut of Steve Harrington Interpreters in Dustin’s mind.
