how good are the mercs manners/ social cues/ just a general look at there behaviour idk man I'm bored
medic: impeccable manners if you're not expecting to leave with all your organs. only slams his lab door when excited or extremely mad but that doesn't happen often. has the vibe of a guy thats finished a video game too many times and is now just being funny but he cant bring himself to be too mean because he loves the characters
heavy: this is the nicest man on earth outside of battle. good manners. holds doors open for you even if you have to do that awkward sprit to get to the door because you're kinda far away. does the bases dishes. polite little man (hes over 6 foot 5)
spy: she thinks hes polite. he isnt. she gets away with it though because if you hung out with the rest of the mercs for too long you would also be a bit mean about everything and everyone. is not often intentionally mean though, just like annoyed
sniper: hes not looking at you in the eyes but he's autistic so he wasnt going to do that anyway now was he? dosnt really socialise but he just sort of sits nearby probably wood carving or napping. just sort of in his own bubble. nice enough to talk to though, has many stories
soldier: every single social cue has flown over his head like a damn bird. also he is the loudest man on earth, yelling goofy things and generally not thinking before he speaks, but again he's not intentionally mean, just the worlds silliest man
demo: polite but crass. swears like a sailor and changes the subject of a conversation like 8 times in a conversation. can have about 8 conversations at once and wont get confused. worlds most understimulated man always
engie: they put the most southern hospitality in this man. makes you coffee. takes your shoes. probably cleans them too. would crush his beer cans to recycle them properly. worlds largest collector of cables and cable ties. keeps the other mercs in line when necessary. only one allowed to take the stand if the mercs ever go to court.
scout: worlds most bisexual straight fuck boy type man. he is a living contradiction. worlds oldest teenager, with the levels of self control to prove it. not just for like insulting people but someone has to make sure he doesn't climb every tree in sight of the base (theres 3)
pyro: has drawn family pictures of the mercs before and their generally very sweet. only knows 2 words in sign and they are "fuck" and "thanks". has to be stopped in joining scout on his antics. has yet to fully grasp that people's rooms are their own space and has stared at the other while their trying to sleep on a few occasions because it wanted to see them. lovely soul, weird as hell.

all of my students r autistic n like . all of them have the worst stories abt how they ended up in this situation etc it makes me so so so angry like how and why is the UK system failing autistic kids so much . repeatedly . do u not realise the problem is you and not the children ??
"autism isn't something to glamorise, so many people suffer for it" like yeah ok im sorry that you had horrible experiences as a child bc of your diagnosis . no one is forcing you to like being autistic . but the suffering induced onto autistic people (children especially) is one of the core reasons we need to talk about the good parts of being autistic !! it is so important for autistic people - all of them but especially those with learning disabilities - to know the "autism is essentially an incurable disease" narrative is so so horrible and that their neurotype is actually a wonderful thing. talking about the good aspects of autism also helps lift a lot of the stigma around us. providing an autistic perspective to the world is a wonderful thing do not try to prevent things from getting better !!

:O how are you doing that? Like you’re paying attention to all three at once??
Me: ahh I’m making you feel inadequate am I? it blocks all the bad voices out of my head :D

one thing about getting sick for me is that before covid (the first time) my colds and flus and whatnot all went in a very specific pattern: i would get a sore throat for a day or two, then violently congested for three or four days, then a runny nose/drainage for three or four days after that, and finally a cough, which was my favorite part of the cold (if a person can be said to have a favorite part of a cold) because it meant it was almost over AND that the problem was largely not in my face and neck anymore. but any illness i've had since that first covid has been all over the map - either i don't get the sore throat at all, just straight into the congestion, or the sore throat happens at a different time, or longer, or worse, or i have to spit a lot because otherwise i get so nauseous from sinus drainage that i throw up, or the congestion and the runny nose happen concurrently with not just each other but ALSO the sore throat (which is what's happening right now and i hate it) and like. because it doesn't follow the pattern i spent twenty-six years of my life getting used to, i'm always freaked out. which i would be anyway because ever since i had the first covid getting sick freaks me out. and it should freak more people out if im being honest. but this is a weird one bc like. i dont know how it did that but it disrupted MY trusty sick pattern
