edit: I was listening to cry by cigarettes after sex while writing this and I actually started sobbing

You were walking home from the bus stop. A massive document had been placed in your care at work, and so you had worked throughout the day with minimum breaks to complete it. It didn't help that some of the new junior coworkers were so stuck on wanting you to have the most miserable day ever, making multiple mistakes which kept getting on your nerves.

You glance at your watch: 11.24pm. You weren't sure whether you were going to be paid for having to work overtime, but all that mattered right now was going home to your sleeping boyfriend, Hyunjin. He had gotten off work early, and you had called him to tell him to go to sleep.

A crack of thunder was heard, and it suddenly started pouring. Tears poured down your cheeks as you, too tired to cover your head or run for shelter, cried with the sky.

Your hand was slightly shaking as you tried to jam your key into the keyhole to your shared apartment. It silently swung open and you were met with the sight of Hyunjin sprawled over the sofa, his head turning to smile at you when he sees you.

The expression on his face is beyond surprise and he rushed over to you to hug you.

"You're finally home, baby."

You slump over him, body too heavy with exhaustion to respond, and he carries you to the sofa, placing you down gently before running to grab a towel.

Hyunjin comes back, sitting you up on the sofa before kneeling on the floor face-to-face with you.

"You could'hv called me, I could'hv brought a umbrella Y/n."

Hyunjin looks worried as he lightly ruffles your hair with the towel. He notices the tear streaks on your face and leans forward slightly, brushing his lips over them. You smile softy, heart fluttering at his caring manner.

You don't respond. You don't need to, Hyunjin understands you too well. He gets up flops down on the sofa to lay next to you, wrapping an arm around your waist and drawing you close. Your hands immediately go to his hair, eyes closing as you gently scratch his scalp. You nuzzles your face in his neck, making you feel safe and loved in a way nothing else can.

As you cuddle up next to him, your head resting near his chest, you take in the scent of his cologne and the warmth of his body. You feel your muscles relax, and you let out a contented sigh. Finally, you're in a place where all your worries are far away, and you're just enjoying the moment.

Hyunjin looks down at you and strokes your hair, and you can tell he's enjoying the moment too. You close your eyes, feeling completely at peace in his arms. You both stay there for a while, not wanting the moment to slip away.

When you finally open your eyes again, it's reads 2am on the clock and you realise you've both fallen asleep. Hyunjin is still holding you, his breathing deep and even. You sleepily trace his forehead, down his nose, and to his soft, plump lips with your finger. You smile to yourself, feeling grateful for the warmth and love in this moment. It's moments like this that make you glad to be alive.
